Although Chadwick Boseman knew for years he had terminal cancer, we now know he died without writing a will, but he made a key move months before his death to financially protect his wife.

The "Black Panther" star's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, has filed probate docs, obtained by TMZ, in which she asks to be named administrator of Chadwick's estate. Taylor has to file the docs in probate court because he did not leave a will.

That seems odd considering Chadwick was diagnosed with colon cancer 4 years ago, and knew it was terminal. However, that also puts his marriage to Taylor, who he reportedly dated since 2015, in a new light ... and here's why.

They got engaged in late 2019, and reportedly tied the knot at some point in 2020. That's important because when a person dies without a will and without children, their surviving spouse inherits all the assets of the probate estate.

According to the docs, Taylor gets nearly $1 million in personal property and assets, but that's not a true reflection of Chadwick's wealth and success. Most likely the majority of his assets are held in separate private trusts.

In the docs, Taylor notes Chadwick is also survived by his 2 parents.

As you know, he was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and it progressed to stage IV as he silently battled through it. Chadwick died in his home surrounded by his wife and family.

(WSB-TV) - The Cobb County District Attorney’s office said Friday it will decide in the next couple of weeks whether to charge an Atlanta rapper and a record executive as co-conspirators in the 2015 shooting of Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter’s tour bus.

Prosecutors claim Jimmy “Peewee Roscoe” Winfrey shot up the bus on I-285 after a concert as a way to gain status in a gang.

One theory they initially floated was that Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Jeffrey “Young Thug” Williams put him up to it.

Neither man had been charged previously.

The Georgia Supreme Court overturned Winfrey’s conviction last year after ruling the Cobb County judge improperly coerced him into taking a plea deal and accepting a 10-year prison sentence by threatening he would get more time if a jury convicted him in his court.

On Thursday, the Court of Appeals remanded the case back to Cobb County.

“Mr. Winfrey always denied being the shooter of the bus,” Manny Arora, who represented Winfrey in his first trial, told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik.

The driver of the bus, Alvin Lewis, is suing Winfrey, Birdman and Young Thug, alleging they conspired in the shooting that caused him pain and suffering.

In a civil court filing this week, Lewis’ attorney, Jeff Gewirtz, included pieces of evidence from the criminal case that he argues point to that conspiracy.  

Among the documents obtained by Petchenik, phone records that the lawsuit said shows Young Thug called Winfrey eight times in the 12 minutes leading up to the shooting.

Petchenik also obtained a jailhouse phone call referenced in the lawsuit.  In it, Bryan “Birdman” Williams is talking to Winfrey.

“Time for you to come out here and get your money,” he can be heard telling Winfrey. “You did everything you could do boss ... it’s eye-opening. (It's) strictly business, man.”

Police believe they have solved the case involving the murder of fast rising Far Rockaway, Queens, New York rapper Chinx.

Chinx, born Lionel Pickens, was gunned down while sitting in the driver's seat of his Porsche Panamera on a street in Queens May 17, 2015.

On Thursday, December 15, two men were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Fox 5 New York reports that Jamar Hill, 26, and Quincy Homere, 32, were taken into custody. They have been charged with one count each of second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted, they each face up to 25 years to life in prison.

The two reportedly “hunted down Chinx like an animal” because of an argument they had over a phone while locked up in Rikers Island. They made it their mission to kill him. according to sources close to the investigation.

Tidal is still trying to find it's footing in the ultra-competitive music streaming business.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Jay Z's firm Aspiro AB, the Swedish holding company for Tidal, booked a net loss of 239.5 million Swedish crowns ($28.23 million) in 2015.

The list of artists on the company's roster is impressive.

Kanye West, T.I., Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Beyonce, Jay Z, Usher, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Prince, J. Cole, Chris Martin, Calvin Harris, Prince, Daft Punk, Jack White, Arcade Fire, Jason Aldean and deadmau5 all release exclusive content through Tidal.

However, the competition from rivals Apple Music and Spotify is proving to be very stiff.

Couple that with the ease in which fans can get music for free and you can start to see what Tidal is up against.

According to the Wall Street Journal, "A person familiar with the matter said the financial statement doesn’t paint a complete picture of the situation at Tidal because it doesn’t reflect all U.S. revenue and financing."

Jay Z bought Aspiro in January of 2015 for $56 million.

It's made the Compton native paranoid and unable to trust people. Friends suggested he go talk to a professional therapist about it.

Last October Eminem's ex-wife, Kim Mathers, was driving her black Escalade on a road in Macomb, Michigan when it ran into a ditch, hit a light pole and flipped over. She was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be pulled out by paramedics.

She admitted to them that prior to the accident she had drank a fifth of Malibu Rum. It seemed like an open and shut DUI, but the case started raising red flags when the records were sealed by the court.

On Wednesday, March 4, Kim called into Detroit morning show "Mojo in the Morning" to say that she wasn't receiving preferential treatment. According to her, the records had been sealed because the accident was actually a suicide attempt and the records contained medical information, including a psychiatric evaluation.

"You guys of all people should know that our family has never gotten preferential treatment in any court case that we've had. It's been all over the news ... anything that we've ever done has been public," Kim said. "The reason that I'm upset is because all of those tapes, the recordings from that accident were not played."

"I have been clean for ten years," she continued. "There are things that go on is people's lives and just because people think that we have money, that it makes us happy. But you lose friends -- you lose family. You have no one to trust to even speak to about personal business and it's hard. I sat at then end of a road where I knew no one else but myself would get hurt. Yes, I drank, I took pills and I hit the gas and aimed for a pole. What wasn't played in those interviews is I apologized immensely. I didn't even expect to make it through that. I told them I tried to do this on purpose and i'm so sorry. I never lied to [first responders]. I told them everything that I did. That's why those records were sealed. There was medical information in there. It had nothing to do with the rest of the case."

Kim requested that the records be unsealed.

TMZ reports that Eminem has been helping Kim get past this ordeal. She is also receiving professional counseling.

We wish Kim and her family nothing but the best and hope for a positive outcome.

As Iggy Azalea put the finishing touches on her sophomore album titled "Digital Distortion," she finds herself on the cover of London-based Schön! Magazine.

2015 proved to be a grueling year for the Australian rapper. Questions from the media about her personal life, nose job, breast augmentation, criticism of her body, her phone number getting leaked via a Papa John's delivery man and questions about whether she and T.I. were still in business together eventually wore her down.

“I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year,” told Schön! Magazine, via the New York Post. “I felt tired and stressed out. Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me. It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”

The 25-year old "Fancy" hit maker seems to be in a good space at the moment. She's currently engaged to Los Angeles Lakers player, Nick Young, and will release the lead single titled "TEAM" from her forthcoming album on Friday, March 18th.

Rick Ross has been indicted for his alleged attack on a groundskeeper at his Fayette County, Georgia home on June 4, 2015.

Charges of kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm while committing a crime were handed down by a grand jury last week. 

TMZ reports that Ross' attorney, Steve Sadow, plans to argue that his client was well within his rights to assault Jonathan Zamudio because the groundskeeper was committing felonies by using cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the guest house of the rapper's crib.

Sadow will claim that Ross was "acting in self-defense and in defense of his property when he encountered trespassers."

Nadrian James

Ross, real name William Roberts, and his bodyguard Nadrian James are accused of taking Zamudio and another worker into the guest house on his property and attacking them.

Zamudio was allegedly pistol whipped and beaten, suffering a neck injury and two chipped teeth.
