After more than 3 months of silence, Jody Lo returns to the scene with a new single; Exotic. After the release of "Tru Story" this past summer, the North Carolina lyricist has been scarce in his presence online. In a spontaneous flash, a new release drops and we're presented the fast paced catchy melody over a 808 laced trap instrumental. With the right momentum, this track could potentially give the traction needed to bring well deserved recognition to Jody Lo.
Avenue Bandz Conglomerate (ABC) CEO, Vini, has consistently been releasing quality new music over the last couple years. Today the Tacoma, Washington emcee drops visuals for a heartfelt tribute to the gone way too soon Chicago artist Juice WRLD on "USED TO."
Buffalo, New York and Chicago, Illinois connect as Black Soprano Family artist Rick Hyde links with BSF boss Benny the Butcher and G Herbo for his new single, "Alone."
North Carolina’s Jody Lo delivers a flawless set with ‘Tru Story’
Winston-Salem’s Jody Lo continues a streak of consistency with another release 6 months after a previously successful project. Tru Story is truly a phenomenal body of work from start to finish with 8 hits back to back. Beginning with a tribute to Shaquille O’neal’s character in blue chips, the lyricism presented on this album is next level. Lyricism meshed together with the ability to ride each beat with a unique flow gives us a few different vibes between individual tracks. By track 3, we already have a drill song, a conscious track and a super lyrical solo cypher at the intro. The contrast in tracks keeps the listener on their toes not knowing whats next. After a previous album that held features from KXNG Crooked, Kurupt, Gucci Mane & more this project takes a different approach with no guest appearances implying Jody Lo wants to prove how well he can do with no features. Let’s find out

After taking a step away from music for two years, TtheGAWD knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish with the I Am GAWD album. Alongside Chicago producer Max Julian, TtheGAWD convincingly displays the tenacity of his penmanship, his ear for solid production as well as the ability to tell engaging stories through songs. I Am GAWD is an ode to the mid to late ‘90s, grimey New York era, combined with his personal experiences growing up in Chicago’s inner city.
“I Am GAWD is for the struggling artists with all the talent in the world who just want to be heard. For the emcees and producers who are constantly told to switch their sound because this style of music is no longer profitable. For the underdog and avid Hip-Hop head in general.” — TtheGAWD
TtheGAWD set out to rediscover who he is as an emcee and artist with I Am GAWD. No autotune. No formulaic song structure. No redundant content. Just a masterful display of a level of art that's not really being heard on a large scale from Chicago at the moment. The title says it all: I Am GAWD — which translates to “I Am Getting Ahead Without Devolving.” Meaning, he won't compromise who he is to get where he's going.
