Recently we covered a story about Haitian voodoo priests being lynched by angry mobs accusing them of spreading cholera in the earthquake ravaged country.

Another voodoo related story has just emerged, this time involving an American relief worker.

32-year old Paul Waggoner, the co-founder of Materials Management Relief Corps has been accused of turning a 15-month old dead baby boy into a zombie for the purpose of selling it’s organs.

12348737897?profile=originalPaul Waggoner being transported to a Haitian prison.

Waggoner is being held in prison pending further investigation after a judge ruled there was enough evidence to look into the charges further.

The accusation was made by the child’s father Frantz Philistin, who brought the sick child to a hospital in February. Philistin handed the child over to Waggoner, who then took the child to doctors. The child died, but wasn’t treated by Waggoner.

When the father came back the next day doctors say he saw the baby and confirmed his death. He refused to take the child with him, insisting he didn’t have the money for a burial, and the child was cremated by the hospital. But now Philistin is accusing Waggoner of performing voodoo on the child to keep him alive.

My son is not dead, when I tried to close his eyes they wouldn’t close. When I tried to close his mouth it wouldn’t close,” Philistin told  AOL news.

12348738668?profile=originalFrantz Philistin has accused Waggoner of using voodoo to turn his 15-month old baby into a zombie for the purpose of selling it's organs

Doctors on call at the time of the child’s death dispute Philistin’s claims.

I listened to the baby’s chest for at least two minutes,” Dr Kenneth Adams said. “And there were neither breath sounds nor heartbeat. Rigor mortis had set it, the baby’s lips and skin were bluish gray and there was corneal clouding of the eyes. I always take very seriously pronouncing the death of any patient.”

Waggoner’s friends are concerned or his safety.

Paul Sebring came to Haiti with Waggoner, he says the prison conditions are horrible.

We’ve literally given up everything in our lives to come help, and then this happens, we need help,” Sebring told MyFoxPhoenix. “The conditions he‘s in now I‘ve been to the prison. I wouldn’t even put an animal through that.

12348738491?profile=original
The U.S. State Department is monitoring the case closely according to spokesman P.J. Crowley.

What’s uncertain is how long Waggoner will remain jailed and if the U.S. can do anything to get him released.

DMX Moved To Mental Health Facility

12348727497?profile=originalRapper Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, is housed in a mental-health unit at an Arizona State Prison Complex facility called Alhambra near 25th street and Van Buren.

DMX was sentenced to a year in jail (minus 113 days served) on December 16, after he pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his probation. At his sentencing, Judge Christine Mulleneaux told him she believes he has "an undiagnosed mental condition," possibly bi-polar disorder.

DMX's manager, Nakia Walker, wouldn't comment specifically on whether DMX might have a mental disorder, but she says she wasn't surprised when he was moved to a mental-health unit. The rapper himself always has refused to comment on speculation about his mental state. In 2001, he threatened to beat up writer William Shaw for asking about it in a Blender magazine interview. "Waaaay too personal," DMX said.

The embattled hip-hop star is incarcerated for the 13th time. His record includes more than 25 arrests across the nation, 11 felony convictions, and 15 misdemeanor convictions.

Arizona Department of Corrections files confirm that DMX was admitted to the Flamenco Mental Health Unit at Alhambra on December 20. According to Walker, he will not be allowed to have visitors for 30 days.

By all accounts Michael Vick has been a model citizen since being released from federal prison in May 2009 after serving 19 months for dog fighting.

With his remarkable comeback on the football field happening before our eyes, Vick is still trying to make things right off the field.

He helps mentor kids about the harm dog fighting causes. He also spends a lot of his free time working with The Human Society.

As part of his rehabilitation process Vick says he would like to own a dog again.

“I would love to get another dog again in the future. I think it would be a big step in the rehabilitation process for me,” Vick told TheGrio.com. “I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love, and my passion for animals.”

Prior to being convicted of dog fighting Vick was one of the nation’s most popular athletes. His # 7 jerseys were big sellers, he had big endorsement deals with Nike and Upper Deck, and a $100 million dollar contract with the Atlanta Falcons. He lost all of that and more. Vick became one of the most hated people on the planet.

He still struggles to come up with answers for why he did it. He thinks it could be a cultural thing.

I hate to use our culture as an excuse, but it is what it is and that’s what happened and that’s the way I thought about it growing up. This is just the way I was brought up. Nobody ever told me that it wasn't right,” he said.

Mike says he’s learned from his mistakes and is a “better person” now. He credits God with helping him turn his life around and hopes people will give him a second chance.

Do you think Vick has reached a point where it would be ok for him to own a dog again?

MONTERREY, Mexico – The warden of a prison in the northern state of Durango is under arrest on suspicion she let inmates leave the facility to carry out killings in the nearby city of Torreon, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office said.

In custody along with warden Margarita Rojas Rodriguez are her deputy, Francisco Carlos Alberto Uranga, and prison security chiefs Roberto Enriquez Aguayo and Jose Guadalupe Diaz Ordaz, as well as several guards.

The prison personnel are charged in connection with more than 30 deaths in Torreon, including last week’s massacre of 17 people attending a birthday party at a rented hall, AG office spokesman Ricardo Najera said.

Rojas is accused of allowing inmates to leave Cereso Dos prison at night to carry out killings with active help from some of the guards.

The inmates returned to their cells after the crimes.

The criminals commit their executions as part of settling scores with members of bands linked to organized crime,” Najera said, adding that a search of Cereso Dos prison turned up four assault rifles used in the July 18 killings at Torreon’s Italia Inn.

Sunday’s arrests came days after the appearance on the Internet of a video in a which a Lerdo, Durango, police officer confesses to being on the payroll of a crime boss and points to warden Rojas’ alleged role in the Torreon murders.

The video of Rodolfo Najera was made and posted on the Web by Los Zetas, a band of special forces deserters turned hired guns and drug traffickers, and concludes with the cop’s execution.

La Laguna, a region comprising parts of Durango and neighboring Coahuila, is the object of a bitter turf struggle between Los Zetas and the Sinaloa cartel. EFE.

It feels like all my hard work is getting recognized. It makes me work even harder.AP: How did it feel to have your album top the charts while in jail?Gucci Mane: Excited. I still had a release party, though I wasn't there. But the day after was the toughest because I just wanted to get out there to see my fans. ... Everything I do has so much weight on it.AP: How do the other inmates treat you in jail?Gucci Mane: It's a great response. ... So I try to take a couple of these young guys under my wing and tell them what I've learned, because you can't teach nobody if you don't know anything.AP: Rappers who have been jailed in the past like Tupac has said it was difficult to jot down lyrics while in prison. How has writing songs been for you?Gucci Mane: Unfortunately I've been to jail a couple times. Anytime I come in it's difficult to make music, write songs. This time, I have a peace within me. T.I. Seventh studio album and prison release

T.I. Out of Prison and Back to Work

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., was released from Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in Arkansas Dec. 22.2009 and has already headed back into the studio to work. Although T.I. isn’t completely free…he was released to a halfway house close to his home in Atlanta. He will spend the next 366 days of his sentence at Dismas Charities Atlanta West, where he is allowed to leave the facility during daytime hours to work.

Music exec Kevin Liles posted a message on his Twitter page stating that new T.I. music will soon be on the way. “My right hand (T.I.) went home to visit family& found his way to the studio. He said, ‘Why wait for 2010, get it in now.’ Love the attitude.”

That seems pretty lenient that he is also allowed to swing in to see family when he is under ‘house arrest’. He will have 500 hours of community service to complete when he is sprung in another year.

We can’t wait to hear the rappers new song, which will likely reflect his time spent behind bar.

On March 26, 2010, T.I. will be released from the halfway house. He is also currently in the studio working on his seventh studio album. It is yet to be titled.

Maybe the inmates really are running the asylum. A correction officer has been disciplined for dozing on the job after a colleague snapped a picture of her asleep while on post at a Rikers Island infirmary, officials said yesterday. A clearly conked-out Nadja Green is leaning in a chair with her head back, arms folded, eyes closed and mouth open. But even more alarming is an amused inmate seen hovering above her, mere inches from a set of keys that hangs from her belt. The picture was circulated around the department, and a source e-mailed it to The Post. Green was transferred on the island and placed on modified duty watching female inmates. She will face charges of sleeping on the job and other security- and performance-related charges. "We do not expect this type of behavior or performance from our officers, nor do we tolerate it," said city correction spokesman Steve Morello. The officer who took the picture, Claudel Barrau, was also transferred and placed on modified duty. Morello said possession and use of cellphones in jails, even by guards, is prohibited. "They are only allowed to carry a cell into a property locker and not into jail proper," Morello said. "And not where inmates circulate. It's a basic and obvious regulation and this represents a breach." Officials said the embarrassing photo was taken earlier this month in the prison's North Infirmary Command, formerly Rikers Island Hospital, which houses nearly 400 sick prisoners. The facility includes a wing for AIDS patients, one for sex offenders and one for exceptionally violent inmates. The disciplined officers will not be supervising inmates, according to officials. Morello said the picture was brought to the attention of the department's senior management. He said officials do not believe the sleeping officer was ever in any danger. There will be no charges against the inmate in the picture. Green, who turned 30 yesterday, has been on the job 4½ years. She lives in Queens and could not be reached for comment. Barrau, 47, has been on the job 18 years. When approached by a Post photographer at his Long Island home, he asked, "Why are you taking my picture?" A prison source described Green as "the Precious of Corrections," a reference to the movie about a teen from a dysfunctional family. A source said Green had a difficult upbringing and is the mother of several children. The source said she worked 96 hours of overtime this month. A union official said prison authorities should avoid a rush to judgment. "Many correction officers are forced to work 70 to 80 hours of mandatory overtime," said Correction Officer Benevolent Association spokesman Michael Skelly. "Since we don't know the particular circumstances of that particular officer, we are not going to condemn her. She may have been sick. "We believe it was highly suspect for the other officer to take a picture and potentially jeopardize her safety." New York Post Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

TimesOnline Reports An actor who appears in the Harry Potter films today admitted growing cannabis. Jamie Waylett, 19, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe, pleaded guilty to growing 10 plants in tents at his mother’s home. The teenager and his friend, John Innis, 20, were arrested when Waylett took a photograph of police as the pair drove past officers. Innis’s black Audi was then searched and police discovered a knife and eight bags of cannabis. They also discovered pictures of the cannabis plants on the digital camera that led them to Waylett’s mother’s house in Kilburn, northwest London. After searching the premises they found 10 cannabis plants. They also found another three bags of cannabis in Innis’s possession. Appearing at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Waylett, of Kilburn, North London, admitted production of cannabis during his first court appearance. Innis, from Barnet, North London, admitted possession of a knife and having 11 bags of cannabis. The pair are due to be sentenced next week. Victoria Oja, for the prosecution, said: “He admitted purchasing seeds and growing them into plants. He confirmed it was for personal use at the time.” Dressed in a black suit and sky-blue shirt, he sat with his head bowed in the dock after admitting the offence. His lawyer pleaded with the judge not to send him to jail for the sake of his career. Adjourning the hearing, the chief magistrate, Timothy Workman, said: “Clearly the possession of cannabis is a serious matter and indeed the possession of knives is serious as well. “At the moment I’m not giving you any promises as to how the court will deal with this case.” Cheryl Rudden, for the defence, told the court: “He has co-operated fully. He is a young man in the public eye and he has of course done something which is far from approved of in society. “What I would not want you to do is make an example of him in that way. The effect on him is such that there are possible issues as to his future within his field.” She said that he had been videoing the road side for a music compilation when he caught the attention of officers. Waylett played a sidekick of the villain Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. The latest instalment in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, went on general release yesterday.

Former Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam artist Tru Life turned himself in to authorities last night (June 23) to face a charge of 1st degree murder, according to reports. The charge is possibly tied to a brutal stabbing incident last week that left one man seriously injured, and an 18-year old teen dead. As reported by AllHipHop.com, police were initially investigating Tru Life’s brother for a retaliation attack in the non-fatal shooting of Michael Slater. The individual, whom police suspect is a drug dealer, was shot in the stomach outside of club Pacha. Several hours after the crime, police claim five gang members ambushed 30 year old Jason Black and the teen at a Manhattan apartment complex. Both men were stabbed repeatedly in the chest and face. Black survived the assault, while the unidentified teen succumbed to his wounds. At the time, police theorized that the back and forth violence was the result of a feud between Jason Black and Tru Life’s brother. 1st degree murder carries a maximum sentence of life in prison under New York law. If an official or witness is not the victim, the distinction can also be decreed for murders involving multiple parties or tortuous killings. Tru Life’s last music effort, “Wet ‘em Up,” was heard as a selection on the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto IV. At press time, Tru Life could not be reached for comment. Source : ALLHIPHOP

Michael Vick Released From Federal Prison

RICHMOND, Va. -- Suspended NFL star Michael Vick left a Kansas prison before dawn Wednesday to finish his 23-month sentence in home confinement in Virginia, one of his attorneys said, the latest step on a journey that Vick hopes will lead to his reinstatement. Vick, who turns 29 in June, slipped past waiting cameras and reporters undetected to leave a federal penitentiary in Leavenworth after serving 19 months for financing a dogfighting ring. He was headed to Virginia by car to begin two months of home confinement at his five-bedroom house in Hampton before a scheduled released from federal custody on July 20. He was accompanied by his fiancée, Kijafa Frink, and they were traveling back to Virginia with several members of a security team arranged by Vick's team of lawyers and advisers, a person familiar with the plans told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to comment on the matter. The traveling party also includes a videographer recording the journey, the person said, although what Vick plans to do with the footage has not been announced. The drive from Leavenworth to Hampton is expected to take about 19 hours. ESPN NFL analyst Herm Edwards says if he were a general manager he would have to consider a lot of things pertaining to Michael Vick. Herm says it is not a right to play in the NFL, it is a privilege. "It's a happy day for him to be starting this part of the process," Larry Woodward, Vick's Virginia-based attorney, said. "He looks forward to meeting the challenges he has to meet." Ultimately, Vick's goal is to rehabilitate his image and return to the NFL, but Woodward said his first priority "is spending time with his children and his loved ones." Vick, once the NFL's highest-paid player, is scheduled to report to a probation officer Friday in Norfolk, Woodward said. He will be allowed to leave home to work a $10-an-hour job as a laborer for a construction company and for other limited purposes approved by his probation officer. He will serve three years of probation after his home confinement ends. Getting out of prison will allow Vick to begin rebuilding his life, repairing his image and working toward returning to the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell, who suspended Vick indefinitely in August 2007, has said he will review Vick's status after his criminal case is concluded. He has said Vick will have to persuade him and the public that he is genuinely sorry for his crime, that he has been changed by his experience and that he is committed to leading a different life. Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Wednesday that Vick has paid his debt to society and merits a second chance. Blank said the quarterback is taking positive steps by wanting to work with humane societies and making other changes in his life. The Humane Society of the United States said Tuesday that Vick met its president recently in Leavenworth and wants to work on a program aimed at eradicating dogfighting among urban teens. "There's no question Michael's paid his debt to society, obviously," Blank said during a break at the NFL owners' meetings in Florida. Retired defensive tackle Warren Sapp, who played 13 seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders, also said Vick should be given an opportunity to resume his football career. "We've always been a country of second chances. That's the essence of us, have some contrition for what you did, go pay your price and then come back and become a better person or a little different person, whatever it is," Sapp said last week. Even if he is reinstated, Vick's NFL future is uncertain. He and the Falcons have parted ways, agreeing to a contract settlement that will allow Vick to sign with another team -- if there is one willing to endure the wrath of some fans in exchange for a player who was perhaps the NFL's most electrifying performer. A public backlash isn't the only risk. By all accounts, Vick has tried to stay in good physical shape, but there's no telling how much his skills have eroded after two missed seasons. Vick said in bankruptcy court last month that he believes he can play another 10 to 12 years. The NFL career average is only 3.2 years, and Vick already has played seven. One certainty is that he will not command the kind of money he once earned. Vick supplemented his 10-year, $130 million Falcons contract with several lucrative endorsements, all lost because of the dogfighting. The minimum salary for a player with Vick's years of experience is $620,000. Vick filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan that would have allowed him to keep the first $750,000 of his annual pay, with a percentage of any amount over that going to his creditors. A judge has rejected that plan, in part because of uncertainty about Vick's NFL future, and ordered him to submit a new one. His bankruptcy lawyers have complained about the difficulty of handling Vick's highly complex bankruptcy case while their client was in prison 1,200 miles away. Having Vick back in the area should help them wrap up the Chapter 11 reorganization case. Vick's startling fall began in April 2007 when authorities conducting a drug investigation of his cousin raided the former Virginia Tech star's Surry County property and seized dozens of dogs, some injured, and equipment commonly used in dogfighting. A federal indictment issued about three months later charged Vick and three of his "Bad Newz Kennels" associates with an interstate dogfighting conspiracy. Vick initially denied any involvement, and all four men pleaded not guilty. All four eventually admitted their crimes and were sentenced to prison. Vick's sentence was the longest. The gruesome details outlined in the indictment -- dogs were hanged, drowned and electrocuted -- fueled public outrage, but also brought unprecedented attention to the problem of dogfighting, prompting several states to tighten their laws. However, some supporters also remained loyal to Vick, contending that while he made mistakes he was being singled out for harsh treatment because of his celebrity status. Vick also pleaded guilty to a state dogfighting charge and was given a three-year suspended sentence. Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press
