MaYoun is an artist that aim’s for more than just creating good music for you to listen to and have a good time. He takes pride in the idea that his music is about making a difference in the world. It’s about setting an example. It’s about people seeing an artist from a small country town in Arkansas who did it the right way – who walked away from selling drugs and becoming involved in gangs and instead chose to put his energy and passions into making truly original music. And out of that success MaYoun has given back to his community, using his platform to bring awareness to the ills of the world and encouraging younger generations to think about the consequences of their actions and poor decisions. His new Single “Same Lil N*gga” puts that originality on full display. He took part in working with HitCo Records’ very own Aaron Reid in the production of this track as well as 2 other singles, “Best Now” and “Trophies” set to release simultaneously. The three songs they created express the versatility and various exploratory sounds that MaYoun brings to the industry. They’re new sounds – authentic, with real flows and real lyrics that connect with people from all walks of life. They worked together to create slow songs, fast songs, party songs, introspective songs and just about everything else in between. Mayoun and his management team have launched their own record label company self-titled “MaYoun Music LLC” which is currently under the direction of super-producer, Christopher Starr, Founder and CEO of CSP Music Group, who leads a team of diverse industry professionals that has assisted in the sales of over 350 million records. When asked who his influences were, Mayoun mentioned musical legends such as Micheal Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Bobby Wormack. That’s an odd range of artists to place into that category but he went on to explain that each of those musicians expressed themselves in ways that he could relate. “Micheal Jackson placed his political views and concepts within his music. Snoop Dogg uses his platform to show his newly defined image. Bobby Wormack expressed his emotions towards women through a lyrical love language.” How could we deliver a genre of music that catered to an audience so vast? MaYoun’s music is the answer to that. It is the kind of music that can appeal to so many different audiences that it cannot be classified into just one genre. It cannot be defined by one set of preconceived structures because there never has been anything like him. The songs and sounds from this crafty artist, now residing in Texas, are so unique that it’s almost like he’s making an a-la-carte radio station for each and every listener in the world. “I really just want people to know that there is still versatility in music,” MaYoun said. “I have a melodic sound though it’s not a sound that you’d be used to hearing right now. It’s different and it stands out. I feel like I have the sound of today but I’m always putting the substance of early 2000s in there that everybody loves. I always try to keep some kind of substance and teach something or express something I’ve been through in a way that people can relate to it. Giving back is the whole idea behind MaYoun Music. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police officers fatally shot an inmate who took a correctional officer hostage at a county jail Saturday, authorities said.
Officers had tried to deescalate the situation at the Oklahoma County Detention Center, but authorities fired their weapons after the suspect held something against the neck of the hostage, Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said during a news conference.
The correctional officer was then rescued safely and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officials did not give details about the officer’s injuries, but Oklahoma City Police Chief Wade Gourley said, “I’m just glad the detention officer wasn’t more seriously hurt.”
The inmate had overrun the officer while medications were being distributed, officials said. The suspect then used the officer’s keys to free other inmates on the jail’s 10th floor.
Authorities did not immediately release the names of either the inmate or the officer who had been taken hostage.
As the incident unfolded, demonstrators went to the jail to protest how inmates are treated within the facility, KOCO-TV reported.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Francis Ngannou has been the next big thing in the UFC heavyweight division for several years. Just about everyone believed greatness was within the powerful Cameroonian challenger’s reach if he could ever put his prodigious talents together.
All that potential was realized in six sensational minutes Saturday night when Ngannou took the belt away from the most accomplished fighter in the division’s history.
Ngannou stopped Stipe Miocic with ferocious punches early in the second round to claim the heavyweight title at UFC 260.

Ngannou (11-2) avenged his blowout loss to Miocic in 2018 by demonstrating everything he has learned in the ensuing three years. The first UFC heavyweight champion from Africa flattened Miocic (21-3) twice early in the second, finally buckling the champ’s knees and ending the bout 52 seconds into the round.

Ngannou won a fairly quiet first round with superior striking and ground work, but there was nothing quiet about the finish.
Ngannou knocked down Miocic 22 seconds into the second round with a crisp left hand to Miocic’s face, but the champion ate several punches to get up. Miocic backpedaled away and even landed a right hand that stung Ngannou, but the challenger loaded up a picture-perfect left hook that bent Miocic’s legs at a gruesome angle and put him on the canvas again, where Ngannou landed one finishing hammer fist.

“When the journey is longer, the reward is always more appreciated,” Ngannou said. “I’m sure I would have been happy three years ago, but I think now, I have a different perspective about it, being happy about my improvement.”
The violence was exactly what Ngannou’s fans and coaches expected when the long-anticipated changing of the guard atop the heavyweight division finally happened in this rematch of two highly likable fighters.
Ngannou tried to call his mother in Cameroon immediately after the fight, but said he couldn’t get through to her because everyone was “going crazy” celebrating his win.
“I can’t talk to anybody in Cameroon right now,” he said. “It’s a good craziness, for a good reason.”

The 34-year-old Ngannou is a former aspiring boxer who discovered mixed martial arts after he left Cameroon for France in his mid-20s. He rose rapidly through his new sport with his fearsome power and growing all-around skill, but Miocic interrupted his ascent by winning every round of their first bout in Boston.
The loss staggered the confidence of a once-dynamic fighter. He barely threw a punch in his next bout, an embarrassing loss to Derrick Lewis.
But Ngannou impressively regained his confidence later in 2018 and kicked off a run of four consecutive knockout victories against veteran heavyweights, putting him back in line for Miocic.

“He was a completely different fighter tonight,” UFC President Dana White said of Ngannou. “We saw things from him we never saw before. He took his time, and even ate that big right hand from Stipe. He looked perfect tonight.”
In the Vegas cage, Ngannou was far too much for Miocic, the firefighter from Cleveland who has been on top of the division for four of the last five years. Miocic’s heavyweight reign has been the best in the history of a notoriously tumultuous UFC division, and he most recently won the final two fights of his trilogy with Daniel Cormier to cement his heavyweight supremacy.
In the co-main event of this pay-per-view show at the UFC Apex gym on the promotion’s corporate campus, former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley lost his fourth consecutive fight when Vicente Luque submitted him with a D’Arce choke late in the first round.

Woodley (19-7-1), who reigned over the 170-pound division for nearly three years until Kamaru Usman took his belt in March 2019, looked sharp early and landed some strong shots before he was staggered and finished by Luque (20-7-1), who has won 13 of his last 15 fights.

O’Malley, the thrilling fighter with rainbow-dyed hair, floored Almeida in the first round with a head kick and a big punch — but instead of finishing his opponent on the ground, O’Malley anticipated a stoppage and walked away before realizing the fight hadn’t been stopped.

The UFC is headed to Jacksonville for its next pay-per-view show next month because Florida officials will allow White to sell every seat in an arena, but the promotion still welcomed a few dozen fans to the Apex.

Thieves who recently hit Beyoncé’s storage units in Los Angeles walked away with luxury handbags and dresses worth more than $1 million, according to a report.
Three storage units rented by the singer’s Parkwood Entertainment production company were burglarized twice by thieves earlier this month, Los Angeles police said, according to TMZ.
Authorities told the entertainment news site most of the items in the lockers were owned by Beyoncé, who is the latest celebrity to have her storage units robbed. A storage space belonging to Miley Cyrus was hit in January. Thieves made away with clothes, photographs and other personal items, according to the LAPD. In 2018, a storage unit belonging to Cyrus in the San Fernando Valley was also hit and thieves made off with valuable guitars.
No arrests have been made in the Beyoncé burglary, according to TMZ.

28-year old Deshayla Harris -- 1 of the stars of 'Bad Girls Club' -- died after falling victim to one of several shootings that occurred in her home state.
Virginia Beach PD confirmed Deshayla's ID Saturday as 1 of 2 fatalities resulting from 3 separate shootings from Friday night ... which appear to be unrelated, but happened within a short time of one another. The other victim is 25-year-old Donovan Lynch.
Cops say Deshayla was a bystander for the second shooting, in which a stray bullet from the crossfire hit her. Police do not believe this was a mass shooting -- simply shots fired erupting from feuding parties near the beachfront area of town, where all the resorts lie.
Deshayla is said to have died at the scene. Upwards of 8 other people were injured from the shootings & police say they have 3 individuals in custody in connection to at least 1 of those. Ahmon Adams, Nyquez Baker and Devon Dorsey Jr. were arrested & charged with several different counts -- including assault, use & reckless handling of a firearm, among others. VBPD says none of these guys were involved in the shooting that killed Deshayla ... it's unclear if any suspects have been apprehended for that just yet.
Deshayla is known for her appearance on Season 17 of 'BGC' ... which was dubbed 'East Meets West.' They slugged her on the show as the Firecracker Fashionista. Deshayla was portrayed as feisty & a proud East Coaster. She was also a brawler -- getting into a memorable fight with another cast member, Francesca, after spitting in her face.
Despite the bad blood on the show, it appears some of her fellow costars sent their condolences on word that she'd been killed, including Key Marie who posted a tribute to Deshayla on Instagram.

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas City Council unanimously approved the renaming of a stretch of street after Botham Jean, a Black man who was shot & killed by a white Dallas police officer who said she mistook his apartment for her own.
The vote Wednesday to rename the stretch of South Lamar Street “Botham Jean Boulevard” came after more than 90 minutes of public testimony & discussion by the City Council.
“I’m imploring this council to seriously think about the message we want to send as a city by letting this come up to the point of actually voting on this, having this family participating in this process, & putting that family through any more pain than they’ve been through,” Mayor Eric Johnson said before the 15-0 vote.
Amber Guyger shot Jean, who was 26, in his apartment after returning home from her shift. Guyger, now 32, testified at her trial that she thought he was an intruder in her apartment, which was on a different floor of the apartment building.
Botham Jean Boulevard will run between Interstate 30 & the South Central Expressway. The stretch of road will be renamed within 60 days & will cost an estimated $20,000.
Guyger, who was fired after shooting Jean, was convicted of murder in his death & was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Jean’s family has a pending federal lawsuit against her & the city.

At least 9 people are shot & 2 are dead following shootings in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Friday night.
Officers patrolling the 1900 block of Atlantic Avenue in a resort area heard multiple gunshots shortly after 11 p.m. local time Friday. At the crime scene at least eight gunshot victims were found, according to Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate.
Some of these injuries range from serious to life-threatening. One Virginia Beach police officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. One adult female victim died of her gunshot injuries at the scene.
There is no suspect information for this shooting available at this time, according to authorities.
At a second location, there was another crime scene where a suspect "relating to the above incident" engaged with an officer, which resulted in a police-involved shooting. An alleged male suspect is dead.
Several people are in custody, but it's unclear of their involvement in any of the shootings.
Virginia Beach police initially confirmed there had been a shooting at the oceanfront with "several victims."
"VBPD is investigating a shooting involving several victims with possibly life-threatening injuries. Large police presence at the oceanfront between 17th and 22nd St. Please avoid the area at this time," the department tweeted.
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital confirms to ABC News that it is treating 6 patients with gunshot wounds. Their conditions were not immediately available.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Jacksonville mother was charged with child abuse after fighting a child at her daughter’s school while wearing a boxing glove.
Edith Riddle, 34, was arrested Thursday and charged with child abuse.
According to the arrest report, a school safety officer heard a “frantic” announcement over their school radio around noon that there was a fight underway outside the cafeteria.
When the officer arrived, they found that Riddle had gotten into a physical fight with a child unrelated to her. The victim was found with abrasions on her knees & forearms.
According to the police report, Riddle had just exited the school with her own daughter after a meeting with the vice principal about her 8th grader’s “hostile outbursts” at another student. Rather than leaving the campus after the meeting, Riddle’s daughter went to the cafeteria to start a fight with the other child.
Riddle’s daughter threw some punches on the victim before Riddle joined in, throwing punches herself. Riddle had a boxing glove on her hand when she arrived at the school & had told officials it was super glued to her wrist & unable to be removed.
The victim’s parent arrived at the school & told police she wanted to pursue criminal charges before taking the child to a nearby hospital.
Riddle was arrested & charged with one count of “child abuse with a personal/special weapon.”

A Texas man was reportedly forced to get a tattoo of his girlfriend’s name on his neck before he was shot to death last month in a killing allegedly carried out by 4 suspects.
Younis Alhassinyani, 22, was at his girlfriend’s Arlington apartment on Feb. 1 for a tattoo session when the two got into an argument, according to a tattoo artist who was there and later spoke to police, NBC 5 reported.
One of the suspected killers, Benjamin Delgadillo, was also at the apartment.
At some point during the night, Delgadillo allegedly held Alhassinyani at gunpoint & began defacing existing body art on his back with a tattoo gun that he took from the artist.
Alhassinyani’s girlfriend then allegedly asked the tattoo artist to ink her name his neck. The artist obliged because he feared for his safety, police said.
Soon after, 3 more armed men showed up at Perez’s apartment.
The 4 suspects allegedly forced Alhassinyani into a Dodge Challenger 4 drove to the side of a highway, where one of the men, Justin Jaxs Salinas, allegedly shot him outside the car.
Alhassinyani’s body was found on the side of the road 2 days later by workers with the Texas Department of Transportation.
Delgadillo, Salinas & other suspect, Pedro Rodriguez, were charged with murder.
The girlfriend, Erika Perez, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping & failure to report a felony.
The tattoo artist was not charged with a crime.
