Imagine waking up every morning knowing that someone is not only using your government name and life story, but also profiting from them. That's the nightmare Freeway Rick Ross, the former drug kingpin is living.

In his ongoing battle to wrestle his name away from the Miami rapper born William Leonard Roberts II, Freeway Rick was in a Miami court last week, to give his deposition along with Roberts in their trademark dispute over the name Rick Ross according to AllHipHop.

Freeway Rick initially filed a $10 million lawsuit in the United States District for Southern California against Roberts, Def Jam and Universal Music Group accusing them of copyright infringement and profiting off of his name illegally. The case was dismissed.

"In support of his trademark claims, Plaintiff alleges that his name was well known in the drug trade and by law enforcement segments of the urban crime, rap and black comity because he did business as Rick Ross, until he was arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated in federal prison," said the court. "Because this illegal activity cannot be used to establish secondary meaning, such allegations do not provide support for Plaintiff having a valid trademark for his name."

Freeway Rick appealed the case in state court and it is now moving forward.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Freeway Rick alleges Roberts was initially shook when he thought goons might be coming his way, but now that he sees Freeway Rick doesn't live his life that way anymore he's become disrespectful.

"[He] treated me as if I had done something to him," Ross said. "When he first came to me, he didn't know what position I was going to take, if I was going to send a word out to those young cats out in L.A. or not. That put a little fear in his heart. But now that he knows I'm not carrying it like that, he's a little more courageous right now. "[He] has my name tattooed on his hand."

Freeway Rick has turned his life around and doesn't like the message Roberts is sending kids.

"The first thing that I want to do is I have to help eliminate and erase the mindset that I helped to create," Ross said. "I know I have a lot of work to do, but the first step is to eliminate this guy from going around telling people how great it is to sell drugs."

The case is continuing.

This is probably the most anticipated video off of Kanye West’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album and for good reason.

Any track featuring Nicki Minaj, Yeezy and Jay-Z is bound to be a hot one.  Nicki more that holds her own against two of hip hop's titans

The video is clearly not the finished version, but it will do until that drops in the next week or so.

Things haven't exactly been going Beanie Sigel's way as of late.

The former Roc-A-Fella spitta reportedly is in trouble with the IRS and he still hasn't patched things up with his former boss Jay-Z.

But a recent interview 804 ENT Beans is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Beanie looked like he might have been full of that liquor, so it could have been the drink talking, but the Broad Street Bully said he would like to hook up with Fat Joe and Officer Ross to remake a Fat Boys album.

He also said he wouldn't mind signing to Cash Money Records.

What do you guys think of Beanie's latest comments?

Nicki Minaj has been the subject of a lot of rumors in her short career. Has she had plastic surgery? Did she date Lil Wayne? Is she really bi-sexual? Is Diddy her manager and are the two of them involved romantically? While she didn't clear up all speculation, the Young Money femcee did set the record straight on a couple of those topics. In a recent interview with CNN, Nicki was asked about those Diddy rumors. "You know how you look at your older brother? That's how I look at Diddy. When people say that, it makes me gag. He's my friend, and he's sweet and he's a great guy, but I could never see him that way," she said. The article states that for the record, Diddy is not her manager. Nicki also had a something to say about people that constantly put down her abilities as a rapper. "The people that are inclined to hate are also inclined to be losers. A loser could never congratulate a winner - it's not in them" she says. twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump Washington State Troppers are "infuriated" today after they say a group of motorcyclists taunted an injured officer after causing him to crash his vehicle. Trooper Bryan Salyer, 46 says he saw the bikers going over 100 mph and started to chase them, but soon crashed after the motorcyclists intentionally cut him off according to King5. "Two of the bikes crossed over and intentionally cut the trooper off and slammed on their brakes," said Washington State Trooper Cliff Pratt. He says Salyer slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting them, which caused his car to hit a guard rail, then flip several times. "As he is looking up at them, thinking they would get off and help him out of this horrible situation, they got off their bikes at stood about 30 feet within him and started pointing and clapping, thinking it's a really funny incidence for themselves." says Pratt. However, a witness has come forward to tell a different story. Francisco Sanchez of Seattle, says he saw the bikers pass him at a high rate of speed. Soon after, the patrol car approached. "It was completely out of control," he said of the patrol car. "The car was just dancing. It hit the dirt and then cartwheeled like a cheerleader at nationals." Sanchez added that it didn't look like the bikers cut the car off, but he did confirm they taunted the officer after the crash. "They were excited. There was clapping and cheering, and a couple people got off their bikes to take pictures of the spectacle," Sanchez said. Salyer suffered a concussion, cuts, bumps and bruises in the crash. Police are still looking for the bikers.

On October 3, 2009, 17 year old Victor Steen was murdered by a police officer and it was all caught on dash cam.

Officer Jerald Ard was chasing Steen, who was riding a bike. After Steen refused to stop, Officer Ard fired his taser from his moving car which hit Steen and knocked him from the bike.

Officer Ard then ran over Steen, killing him.

As the cameras rolled from another squad car that pulled up as backup, Ard is seen getting something light colored fram the back seat of his squad car.

He then leans under his care where Steen is pinned and stays for 40 seconds.

When paramedics arrive five minutes later, they find a 9mm silver and black semi-automatic is Steen's pocket.

Even though witnesses came forward to say that Ard had abused his power and ran over Steen intentionally, he has been allowed to go back to work for the Pensacola Police Department.

A New York City police officer is in hot water over the major mishandling of a minor accident.

Officer Louis Ramos of the 84th Precinct was arrested and suspended Tuesday after being charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

The arrest follows a June 14 incident in which Ramos and his partner ran into a cyclist with their patrol car.

According to the Daily News, Ramos and fellow officer Paris Anderson were driving against traffic when they neared the intersection of Sands and Jay Streets in Brooklyn and struck the unnamed bicyclist.

The biker was launched forward over his handlebars.

He suffered a broken hand, cuts and bruises.

Ramos, a 19-year veteran, and Anderson, a six-year veteran, can be seen on surveillance video pulling the rider onto the sidewalk and giving him tissues to clean the cuts and abrasions on his face, arms and legs.

They then returned to their vehicle and left the scene.

The Daily News reported that Anderson and Ramos said they thought the man just fell off his bicycle after being startled by the patrol car's lights and sirens, but it was unclear what the officers were responding to.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office has charged Ramos with assault, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and reckless driving

1235096129_2476081745_d547e01ec4_o.jpgAfter being targeted by 50 Cent in a series of songs and video clips, DJ Khaled has refused to engage in a rap beef with the G-Unit frontman vowing to only "represent the music."The Def Jam South labelhead has decided to pass on the controversial rap beef with 50 Cent:"I don't deal with negative energy, it's a waste of my time and my time is valuable," he said in an interview. "I keep negative away and stay positive...At Def Jam, we promote music...We promote hit records. That's what I respect. I'm always going to represent the music; Rick Ross is gonna represent the music. If controversy comes with it, it comes with it." (MTV News)The Terror Squad associate has taken a cue from frequent collaborator Fat Joe who also recently suggested beef should be dismissed for music:"50 Cent just gotta make music," Joe said in an interview. "He does all these diversions and disses rappers to eliminate the fact that he's not really hot and relevant right now. So if two weeks ago we were talking about 50 Cent, what record or what would we really be talking about unless he disrespected Rick Ross...I'm tired of all these gimmicks and these games. This man's just gotta put out hit records. That's what we're doing...We making music. At the end of the day, we fell in love with hip-hop to make music and hit records." (Kendra G)Khaled was drawn into the recent beef between 50 Cent and Ross when 50 released a video of members of Fif's camp stalking Khaled's mother's house and place of work:"Yo, I got this lil' poem I wrote for DJ Khaled," 50 narrates. "Your car tires got stabbed out, now you know, I know where you be. I just wanna tell you what a psychic told me. I know where your mama house at. Now look, you can see. But I just wanna tell you what a psychic told me. I know where your mama work at, now look at her, asleep. I just wanna tell you what a pyschic told me. I'm not the kinda n*gga you should f*ck with, B. I'm special. I have less compassion than the average human." (ThisIs50.com)Ross, on the other hand, has disregarded suggestions to just focus on music with the release of a new 50 diss track:"N*gga you doing radio interviews, they don't wanna listen to you, they wanna hear you talk about me," Ross says in the track. "Bang Em Smurf. Queens. Forever. I appreciate the hospitality. Ricky Ross. I'm buying a loft there now. I'm building a studio there now...You haven't dropped a hit yet. You probably with [Dr.] Dre in the studio, booked up, busy. Anybody wanna get involved, you're more than welcomed...I wanna see the gorillas. I wanna meet 'em...Put your hit out on me, I'm ready." (WSHH)In my opinion: i don't care about when my fave rapper (50) raps about others but when i heard he mentioned his mom it just blew me away. After everything he went through his life I still can't believe he'd diss and talk about his mother....he doesn't even have a mother because of poisoning and no other rapper is dissing him bout that. Anyways I am always on 50's side.....I LOVE YOU FIDDY (NO HOMO), hope to meet you before the day i die....GOD BLESS.Post your opinions below [Make sure you add my page]

Freeway Ricky Ross built a cocaine empire in the early 80's before being caught by the Feds and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. That sentence was later reduced to 20 years after a federal appeals court threw out the original decision , then reduced even more for good behavior.

Freeway Ricky used his time locked up wisely, becoming a model prisoner, reading over 300 books, preparing himself for the many legitimate business opportunities that would await him once he was released.

In 2006 an imposter by the name of William Leonard Roberts II aka Officer Ross decided to capitalize on Freeway Rick Ross' fame by stealing his name to use as his rap alter ego.

Now, according to BallerStatus, Freeway Ricky is going after Def Jam Records, Universal and Officer Ross. Accusing them of profiting "off of his name unlawfully while he was in jail, without his consent."

On Monday (May 24) the camp of Freeway Ricky released a statement.

"It's no secret that the boss at FreewayEnterprise.com is unhappy with how his name has been exploited and misused since he went to prison in 1995, and in 2006, the above-named parties signed [William L. Roberts II] (Rick Ross' government name) to a big record deal and then spent, and made, millions off Ross' name,"

In 2006, Freeway Ricky had a lawyer send a cease and desist letter to Def Jam protesting "the exploitation and misuse of his name," but that letter was ignored.

Now that the former drug kingpin is out of prison he plans to reclaim "control of his name in commerce by any means necessary."
