The Source Awards used to be the hip hop equivalent of The Grammys. In 1995 especially so, because two powerful labels, one from the east and one from the west would have a showdown to see who would outperform the other.
Suge Knight and Death Row Records brought Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, Dr Dre, Lady Of Rage, Nate Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound to Madison Square Garden that day
While Bad Boy Records Ceo, Diddy brought Notorious B.I.G., Total, Craig Mack, Lil Kim, and Faith Evans.
It's debatable who had the better performance because they were both great, so I'll let you decide.
There was some negativity though. Suge Knight just couldn't let the night go without taking a swipe at Puffy whom he criticized for "dancing all up in the videos" before inviting artist to come joining Death Row if they didn't want all that.
You can see that part at the end of the 2nd Bad Boy video. All that did was fan the flames of the east coast vs west coast feud even more. 2Pac was in prison on a rape charge at the time or things might have gotten violent.
As it turned out though, it was a peaceful event and everybody went home safe
Who do you think had the better performance out of the two camps?

Bad Boy Performance Pt 2: Notorious B.I.G. & Total "Can't You See" x Junior Mafia "Players Anthem" x Notorious B.I.G. "One More Chance" remix

Multi-talented singer/actor/comedian Jamie Foxx stopped by the Tonight Show With Jay Leno the other night.
As always Jamie had jokes. Before he even sat down he was vibing with the band singing the old school cut "Bustin Loose", hyping the crowd, he even managed to get Leno to bust a couple dance moves.
Of course Jamie has a couple of movies in the works. He talks to Jay about the upcoming comedy starring himself, Martin Lawrence and George Lopez.
In the movie Foxx and Lawrence reprise their roles as Wanda Wayne and Sheneneh Jenkins. The pair hook up and start robbing banks.
Lopez plays the detective trying to track them down. No word yet on a release date for the film.
Jamie also performs "Fall For Your Type" and "Yep Dat's Me" from his new album 'Best Night Of My Life.'

"I called my husband and I said, 'Daddy they got me on youtube!'" Cathy Cruz Marrero aka "Fountain Girl"
A Pennsylvania woman who fell face first into a mall fountain because she was texting while walking wants to sue.
Cathy Cruz Romero has been laughed at now by an estimated 2 million people, who have seen the youtube video of her falling into the fountain at Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing, PA.
She's upset and wants someone to pay for her embarrassment.
"My issue is I don't think security was professional because they didn't send anyone to check on me until 20 minutes later and I had already left." she told The Reading Eagle. "Instead of laughing, they should have said, 'Is she OK?' and been down there right away to check on me."
In the video people can be heard laughing while narrating Romero's tumble. It's her assumption that it is mall security laughing at her expense.
"My boot hit the edge of the fountain and I fell over," she explained to WFMZ. "The next thing you know I'm seeing pennies and coins in front of my face. I [later] get called stating that I'm on youtube, and I'm like, 'Are you kidding me?' and my nephew is like, 'No you're on youtube.' I started crying and I called my husband, I call him daddy... I said 'Daddy they got me on youtube!' When I went to work and saw how they laughed and the comments that they made, I didn't think that was funny."
Her attorney, James M. Polyak said he plans to launch an investigation into what happened and how the mall security footage found it's way to youtube.
"We are troubled by the fact that anyone at the Berkshire Mall responsible for releasing this video would find humor in an employee injured on the premises," Polyak said. "We intend to hold the appropriate persons responsible."
What most people probably won't ever understand is why Marrero came forward in the first place. Her face is blurred in the video, it's highly unlikely anybody would ever known it was her.
Instead she's doing tv interviews, appearing on Good Morning America, etc. She has a simple answer for that.
"But I know it's me," she said.
Yep, and now the whole world knows it's you as well.

The based god has officially planted roots in New York City.
Lil B played his second sold out show in New York in the last several months. The West Coast rapper packed Santos Party House back in July. Last night he had the Highline Ballroom rocking.
This wasn't a concert, it was more like king being welcomed home. This man's fans are beyond dedicated.
One fan offered to let Lil B f*ck his mom, and for that he was knighted by the based god.
Another fan literally gave B his woman to do whatever he pleases.
"He kissed my b*tch on stage, I'mma let him f*ck her tonight," said the fan. "You can f*ck my mom, my sister, I love you son. Peace to the world.......swag."
What in the hell is going on? This isn't a movement, it's a cult! Hip Hop's 1st cult, lol.
I can't do anything but congratulate Lil B though, hating would be uncivilized.

On October 3, 2009, 17 year old Victor Steen was murdered by a police officer and it was all caught on dash cam.
Officer Jerald Ard was chasing Steen, who was riding a bike. After Steen refused to stop, Officer Ard fired his taser from his moving car which hit Steen and knocked him from the bike.
Officer Ard then ran over Steen, killing him.
As the cameras rolled from another squad car that pulled up as backup, Ard is seen getting something light colored fram the back seat of his squad car.
He then leans under his care where Steen is pinned and stays for 40 seconds.
When paramedics arrive five minutes later, they find a 9mm silver and black semi-automatic is Steen's pocket.
Even though witnesses came forward to say that Ard had abused his power and ran over Steen intentionally, he has been allowed to go back to work for the Pensacola Police Department.
New York (CNN) -- He didn't compete for the hot dog eating title this year, but he did cause a scene at the contest.
Takeru Kobayashi was arrested at Coney Island after his rival, Joey Chestnut, won the annual Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
The six-time champion of the contest was trying to make his way on stage after this year's event, according to a representative for Kobayashi and a New York police officer at the Brooklyn precinct booking desk.
The incident was not a publicity stunt, Maggie James, Kobayashi's spokeswoman, said Sunday night.
"He got excited when people chanted his name after the contest .... so he jumped up on the stage because he wanted his fans to see him and (he thought) maybe they would chant, 'Let him eat,'" James said, referring to a dispute that kept Kobayashi from the table this year.
Kobayashi -- who took home the title every year from 2001 to 2006 -- did not compete because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating. He watched from the stands.
Chestnut won by consuming 54 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. The win -- Chestnut's fourth straight -- was short of his 68-hot dog record set last year.
A statement from the New York Police Department's public affairs office following the arrest said Kobayashi was charged with two misdemeanors and one violation, with the violation considered a low-level charge similar to a traffic violation. The two misdemeanors were resisting arrest and obstructing government administration (specifically, interfering with police). The violation was trespassing.
Kobayashi was being held at a police precinct in Brooklyn, and it was unclear whether he had a lawyer or when he might have bail set.
His spokeswoman, James, said it appeared that he would spend the night in jail unless he could get a hearing -- unlikely on a Sunday night and also a holiday night.
In the days leading up to the event, Kobayashi said he loves the contest and he wanted to participate, but that the contract was too restrictive. Speaking through a Japanese interpreter, he said that all his income is earned through competitive eating. He said the new contract required by the competition would bar him from competing elsewhere in the United States or Canada for a year.
Both sides said contract negotiations went on until Saturday morning.
MLE chairman George Shea called Kobayashi's arrest "unfortunate."
"It makes you wonder what his thinking was," Shea said.
"Major League Eating made an enormous effort to get him into the contest," he added. "We wanted him there. Nathan's wanted him there. The fans wanted him there."
Hailing from Japan and weighing in at 160 pounds, Kobayashi, 31, rose to frank-feasting stardom in 2001 when he devoured 50 dogs, shattering the previously held record of 25 1/8.
But in 2007, having entered the challenge with a jaw injury, Kobayashi met his match in Chestnut.
Chestnut, the 230-pound contender from San Jose, California, downed 66 dogs to Kobayashi's 63 that year. Kobayashi has not won the competition since, and Chestnut is currently ranked No. 1 in competitive eating by the MLE.
For a hot dog to be counted as finished, competitors must consume both the hot dog and the bun.
Currently ranked third, Kobayashi still holds world records for eating cow brains (17.7 pounds in 15 minutes), lobster rolls (41 in 15 minutes) and rice balls (20 pounds in 30 minutes).
"This guy did great things for our sport," Shea said. "He's a fearsome competitor."
Cedric The Entertainer hit up Lopez Tonight to hype his new special 'Cedric The Entertainer's Urban Circus' and tell a few jokes.
You know being in L.A., Ced had to talk about the Laker's championship. He joked about people celebrating by setting fires to their own cars and wheel barrels.
Ced also performed his new country song with hip hop lyrics, lol.
Later on the Lakers' Ron Artest came out for an interview and to perform his new banger "Champions".

Simon Cowell's tenure on American Idol came to an end Wednesday night (May 26). The sometimes prickly, but always entertaining Cowell is leaving the show to produce and judge on the American version version of Britain's popular show 'X Factor'.

The show featured performances by Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Carrie Underwood and Brett Michaels.
The winner of this season's show was also announced as Lee DeWyze beat out Chrystal Bowersox for the crown.

T.I. the self proclaimed King Of The South gave his first interview since being released from prison on weapons charges.
T.I. tells Larry King he was in a state of depression and paranoia when he purchased three machine guns and two silencers from undercover officers.
"This most recent incident, it came from an attempt that was made on my life," he said. "My best friend [Philant Johnson] had died in my arms. It caused a state of depression and paranoia. My judgment was jaded, and I felt my life was in danger. ... At the time, when I felt the need to have these things, I never took into consideration the legalities; I only took into consideration the protection of my life and family."
Larry asked why did he feel the need to purchase that kind of firepower. He pointed out that not even law enforcement uses those kinds of weapons.
Tip explained that when he and his entourage were attacked in Cincinnati the night his best friend was killed the assailants pumped more than 50-100 rounds into the van they were riding in.
So he felt out gunned and didn't want that to happen again.
Rescue workers in Mississippi continued to search for survivors Sunday after a powerful tornado ripped through the state a day earlier, killing 10 people, injuring several others and leveling many homes.
The storm system began in Louisiana where a tornado destroyed 12 homes and warehouses at Complex Chemical Co., which makes antifreeze and automotive fluids.
The storm moved east, with the tornado striking nearby Yazoo County, Miss., killing four people. The storm then claimed another life in adjacent Holmes County and then five more in Choctaw County, including children ages 3 months, 9 and 14.
The National Weather Service on Sunday gave the Mississippi tornado a preliminary rating of at least 3 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale of 0-5, with wind speeds of up to 160 miles per hour and a preliminary path width of one and a half miles.
The tornado tore a path nearly a mile wide as it moved over parts of Mississippi, leveling a church, tearing roofs off houses, overturning cars and cutting off power to large areas of the state.
The most heavily damaged counties were Yazoo and Choctaw; however, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) said there weren't any reports of anyone being trapped in rubble.
MEMA officials reported at least 681 homes had been damaged and there were 31 injuries; however, it had not received full counts from Yazoo and Choctaw Counties.
The same storm system that produced Saturday's twister delivered severe weather to other parts of the South on Sunday, with tornadoes hitting Alabama and South Carolina
UK's Tim Westwood always brings in some great guests. He recently had legendary producer DJ Premier on the show.
This was a really great interview. Premier is like a music historian having been brought up by a mother who loved music. He talks about being taken by his mom to see the Jackson 5 when he was a kid and being influenced by country, blues & zydeco music having been raised in Houston.
Besides his own group with Guru, Gang Starr, Preemo goes through the list of artists he's worked with including Nas, D'Angelo, M.O.P., Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G. and many more.
