Video After The Jump

Boosie is ending a tough year (socially) on an even rougher note -- defending R. Kelly & doing so by suggesting the dude's just got a thing for young ladies, NBD.

The Louisiana rapper recently sat for an interview with VladTV, in which Kelly's conviction was brought up & Boosie was asked about it. He didn't hesitate to let everyone know how he felt about the case & that feeling is ... bitter resentment.

Boosie says Kelly got railroaded on similar charges he was facing in 2008 & thinks much of that has to do with his race.

But, then Boosie took it a step further ... justifying Kelly's actions as it pertains to his victims, brushing it off by saying, "I just feel like R. Kelly like the young bitches." There's more ... Boosie goes on to say claims R. Kelly kept his victims under his thumb at all times is BS.

He adds, "If you leave a bitch at the house & you go on tour for two weeks & she don't go nowhere -- that bitch ain't been kidnapped. She waiting on daddy to come home."

Boosie also claims a "bitch ain't been sexualized if she been in the bed with three, four women. You know, she hasn't been (taken) advantage of, because ... she is willing!" He ends by saying Kelly's only mistake was the "age part."

The host, DJ Vlad, finally stepped in & pushed back on Boosie's wild characterization ... pointing out that Kelly was dating & eventually married -- a very underage Aaliyah way back in the day & not just that, but had gone to court over this exact issue over a decade ago.

He adds, all he had to do was stay away from underage girls -- but noting, he couldn't even do that. Boosie still seems skeptical by the end ... thus capping off the latest foot-in-mouth moment from him in 2021. Better luck next year ...

They discuss the traveling man that Namane is, how Goapele met and started collabing with Cassper Nyovest, her work with South African rapper Hip Hop Pantsula on her 2010 song 'Victory', Pantsula's charisma in the studio and the small but tight-knit South African hip hop scene. Talib also gets into his own experience working with Pantsula and outlines why he reminds him of Kanye West.

13:20 -- Goapele talks about how the cultural gumbo of her upbringing in the Bay Area gave her a unique perspective as well as how the presence of so many immigrant families in the area brought her comfort. 20:16 -- Talib brings up Goapele's hit single 'Closer'. They discuss the song being the last one recorded for her album, her not realizing what it would mean for her career, the flow of her writing process and having reservations about the completeness of that first album. They also talk about Zion I producer AMP Live producing the instrumental, going to his home studio and knowing what they had when the vibe took over as well as how rare it was at the time for a song released independently to reach so many ears so quickly.

28:52 -- Goapele goes into her deep connection to the Hieroglyphic crew. They discuss the Heiro movement being a blueprint for the independent artist, the lineage of Bay Area independent artists that made their mark and how The Hieroglyphics impacted Talib as a Brooklyn emcee with the competitive energy that they brought to the table. Talib goes on to tell a story of him smoking a blunt with Tajai of Souls Of Mischief in New York, them being arrested for it and how they convinced the cops to let them out of jail.

They talk about how much Prince influenced Goapele's music, Prince's favorite songs of Goapele's and meeting him being a true highlight of her life. Goapele's song 'Play' having James Brown influence is discussed along with 'Tears On My Pillow' letting her embrace her sensuality, 2011's 'Break Of Dawn' being her coming into adulthood album and how helpful it is to have an engineer that fully understands you as an artist.

50:39 -- Goapele's song 'Hush' is brought up and it's themes of navigating parenthood. Goapelle speaks of her realizing that motherhood would be a continued learning process, the deep struggles of finding how to balance being a mother with a demanding career, feeling pressure not to miss a single moment of the early years and evolving to the point of less self-imposed guilt trips about enjoying time by herself. They also discuss the level of pressure brought on by society that mothers face, but fathers rarely have to experience.

55:38 -- Goapele is asked what it was like working on the 2012 film 'Sparkle' which also featured Whitney Houston. Goapele talks about Whitney being her idol since early childhood and how her involvement in the film was a full circle moment. They go on to discuss Goapele's 2014 album 'Strong As Glass', Estelle writing the title song, it's mix of passion and vulnerability as well as themes of women being taken advantage of. They also get into her song 'Hey Boy' featuring Snoop Dogg and how much fun she had getting the chance to work with the West Coast legend.

They also talk about 'Dreamseeker', her reluctance to hold a snake in the music video and the influence of Aaliyah on Goapele as an artist. Goapele goes on to talk about performing 'For Love' in Ava DuVernay's 2013 short film 'The Door', the power of Ava's work, how she brings humanity to every project and how much her presence in the industry is needed.

1:06:32 -- Talib Goapele and Jasmin discuss the Red Rocks Amphitheater and Goapele's work as an ambassador for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation with one of her original goals being to connect people and promote positive change through her music. Goapele goes on to tell about her sixth album that she's currently working on featuring a pair of scented candles with a scan-code that will connect with select songs.

Two students who allegedly dressed up as Ku Klux Klan members for Halloween have been indicted on charges of an assault on a Black teen in Woodsboro, Texas. If found guilty of the crimes, both of the 17-year-olds could face up to ten years in prison.

A Refugio County grand jury indicted Noel Garcia Jr., who is Hispanic, and Rance Bolcik, who is white, on Thursday, Dec. 16, with two third-degree felony charges, engaging in organized criminal activity and tampering with evidence, after authorities say they attacked a 16-year-old Black boy with a stun gun on Oct. 31 and later burned the costumes they were wearing during the assault.

The boys, both football players at Woodsboro High in the southeast Texas town, dressed as Klan members when they terrorized the victim with the electroshock weapon, authorities say. Thus, both Garcia and Bolick’s two indictments will include hate crime enhancement.

Another person, a teenage girl, was mentioned in the indictment as an accomplice. She is said to have recorded the incident from a cellphone camera and assisted the teens in burning the clothing, however, she has not been charged.

The Texas Monthly reports that all of the four students involved in this case (the two boys, the girl, and the victim) attend the Woodsboro High School. The victim actually plays on the same football team as Garcia and Bolcik. Texas Monthly reports has a one-minute video of the attack shot from a cellphone. The girl is filming. The footage is said to show the victim trying to get away from his attackers.

The victim says, “That’s not funny. Stop!”

“If you say their names, they’re gonna tase you,” the girl warns.

The noise from the taser can be heard as she continues, “Get closer.”

“Surround him,” the girl instructs Garcia and Bolcik. “Surround him!”

“Chill,” the Black boy pleads, trying to dodge the boy dressed in a white sheet and handling the device.

“KKK,” the unnamed girl proclaims before instructing one to “get on this side of him” and saying to the other, “Get on that side.” The girl starts to giggle loudly.

The Black teen is shocked once by one of the hooded figures before the video ends.

The victim’s attorney, Matt Manning, said, “I’m heartened in so far as this indictment is proof positive that at least the citizens of the grand jury in Refugio County saw the evidence, saw that the evidence was indisputable, saw that what my client said happen did in fact happen, and they are now going to bring to account at least two of those people who were involved in that crime.”

It remains unclear if the 16-year-old girl has been or will be arrested, Manning states. Another white teen who was trying to intervene also appears at times in the video near the Black boy.

The NYPD released the name of the man who was strangled during an alleged dispute over a woman in a Staten Island apartment building.

Police said victim Rafael Ramos, 36, entered the home of Emmanuel Diaz, 32, at 1950 Clove Road Saturday morning at 7:15 a.m. The 2 began fighting, with the older man striking the other in the face with a knife.

Ramos had gone to Diaz’s Grasmere apartment to confront him about a woman they were both romantically involved with. Diaz retaliated & strangled his assailant until the man was unconscious.

Police arrived to find first responders treating the victim, who was pronounced dead. Diaz was found, covered in blood & with a cut on his face, walking out of the apartment, the NYPD said.

He was taken into custody & charged with murder, strangulation, criminal obstruction of breaking & assault.

A neighbor in the building told The Post that Diaz had a reputation for seducing his neighbors.

“He’s Romeo. He would listen to their problems & they would tell him & next thing you know….” Taino Escobar, 38, told The Post.

Escobar claimed he too had confronted Diaz last year because Diaz had once been intimate with his own significant other.

“I lit his a– up, back slapped him so hard his nose was bleeding,” the neighbor said.

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Desmond Tutu, South Africa’s Nobel Peace Prize-winning icon, an uncompromising foe of the country’s past racist policy of apartheid and a modern-day activist for racial justice and LGBT rights, died Sunday at 90. South Africans, world leaders and people around the globe mourned the death of the man viewed as the country’s moral conscience.

Tutu worked passionately, tirelessly and non-violently to tear down apartheid — South Africa’s brutal, decades-long regime of oppression against its Black majority that only ended in 1994.

The buoyant, blunt-spoken clergyman used his pulpit as the first Black bishop of Johannesburg and later the Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town as well as frequent public demonstrations to galvanize public opinion against racial inequity, both at home and globally.

Nicknamed “the Arch,” Tutu was diminutive, with an impish sense of humor, but became a towering figure in his nation’s history, comparable to fellow Nobel laureate Nelson Mandela, a prisoner during white rule who became South Africa’s first Black president. Tutu and Mandela shared a commitment to building a better, more equal South Africa.

Upon becoming president in 1994, Mandela appointed Tutu to be chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which uncovered the abuses of the apartheid system.

NORFOLK, Va. (WTKR) - The family of a man who said he was tackled by a Norfolk Police officer in 2018 is suing the officer, federal court records show.

The incident was captured on the officer's body camera. It shows Officer Aaron Nkrumah Christie run up and and grab Derrick Rountree on Dec. 24, 2018, because he was riding a bike at night with no headlight. The two then fall to the ground.

The lawsuit says Rountree was tackled and broke his leg in several places.

The Virginian Pilot first reported the details of the body camera and lawsuit.

"I know they had a reason to stop him, but they obviously didn't have a reason to use that amount of force to stop him," said Christian Connell, the family's attorney.

Separately from this, Rountree was shot and killed in the city over the summer. The $1.5 million lawsuit is progressing with Rountree's uncle named as the plaintiff.

"The damage that he suffered doesn't go away and the lawsuit doesn't go away," said Connell. #derrickrountree #derrickrountreevirginia #derrickrountreesuescops #policebrutality #abuseofforce #lawsuit #norfolkvirginia #ripderrickrountree #AaronNkrumahChristie #AaronChristie #AaronChristievirginia #AaronChristiecop #AaronChristiesued #coptacklesmanonbike #bike #bicycle #bikewithoutheadlight #brokenleg #legbroken #family #uncle #derrickrountreefamily #policethepolice #cutthecheck #payup

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The coroner’s office has identified the 14-year-old girl who was fatally shot by Los Angeles police Thursday when officers fired on an assault suspect & a bullet went through the wall & struck the girl as she was in a clothing store dressing room.

Police also fatally shot the suspect Thursday morning at a Burlington store in the North Hollywood area of the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles County coroner identified the girl as Valentina Orellana-Peralta. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.

LAPD officers have shot at least 36 people — 17 of them fatally — in 2021, according to the Los Angeles Times. Those figures mark a dramatic rise in cases where officers shot or killed people in either of the last two years — 27 people were shot & 7 of them killed by LA police in all of 2020. In 2019, officers shot 26 people, killing 12.

In the last week, LA officers have killed 4 people — including 2 men in separate incidents on Saturday.

On Thursday, witnesses in North Hollywood told KCBS-TV that the man began acting erratically, threatening to throw items from the upper floor, & he attacked a woman with a bicycle lock shortly before noon as the store was crowded with holiday shoppers.

Officers answered a report of an assault & others of shots being fired, police said. Investigators have not found a gun at the scene.

The suspect was shot & died at the store but one of the bullets went through drywall behind the man & killed the girl, who was in a changing room with her mother.

Officers found the teenager dead after seeing a hole in “a solid wall that you can’t see behind,” LAPD Assistant Chief Dominic Choi said.

“This chaotic incident resulting in the death of an innocent child is tragic and devastating for everyone involved,” Police Chief Michel Moore said in a statement late Thursday night. “I am profoundly sorry for the loss of this young girl’s life and I know there are no words that can relieve the unimaginable pain for the family.”

Moore promised a “thorough, complete and transparent investigation” into the shooting & said a critical incident video that will include 911 calls, body camera & other video will be released by Monday.

18-year old Bronx, New York drill rapper Kay Flock has been charged with murder.

According to the New York Daily News, Flock, born Kevin Perez, was arrested and charged with the Dec. 16 killing of 24-year-old Oscar Hernandez.

Flock and Hernandez allegedly got into an altercation outside of a Harlem barbershop where the victim was waiting to get a haircut.

Kay Flock was walking and as he passed the barbershop he opened the door and asked what Hernandez why he was looking at him. The argument spilled outside and Hernandez began to walk away.

At that point Flock allegedly shot him in the back and neck.

Hernandez's family believes Flock mistook Hernandez for someone else, but cops believe the shooting was gang related. Hernandez was a member of the Bronx-based Thirdside Gang.
