GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida backup quarterback Jalen Kitna, the son of retired NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, was arrested Wednesday on 2 charges of distribution of child exploitation material & 3 charges of possession of child pornography.

Gainesville police said the 19-year-old Kitna shared the images via a social media platform. Kitna was booked in the Alachua County Jail, where he was awaiting a first appearance before a judge Thursday morning.

The 5 charges, which still need to be formalized by the state attorney’s office, are second-degree felonies that could result in a prison term of up to 15 years and a fine of up to $10,000.

The Gators suspended Kitna indefinitely about an hour after his arrest.

Gainesville police announced the arrest in a news release and said the investigation was initiated when the department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip indicated that a Discord user distributed an image of child sexual abuse through its chat platform.

Further investigation by a detective showed two images were shared via Kitna’s Discord account at his apartment in Gainesville, police said. A detective contacted Kitna at his residence and interviewed him. Kitna said he remembered sharing the 2 images & that his Discord account was later deactivated because of a violation of the terms of service.

Kitna’s electronic devices were seized as part of a search warrant. Preliminary analysis revealed 4 additional images of child sexual abuse.

Former NBA Star Rasual Butler & Wife Leah LaBelle Die In Car Crash

Rasual Butler, 38, and wife Leah LaBelle, 31, died Wednesday morning, January 31, in a single car crash in Studio City, California.

TMZ reports that Butler lost control of his Range Rover around 2 a.m. It struck a parking meter, flipped and slammed into a wall.

Bulter played in the NBA for 13 seasons. He had stints with the Miami Heat, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs.

LaBelle was a singer who placed 12th on the 3rd Season of "American Idol" back in 2004. She was currently signed to Epic Records/ So So Def Recordings.

Our deepest condolences go out to their families and friends.

Model/rapper Gloria Velez recently aired out an unnamed ex-boyfriend via a blog penned over at GlobalGrind.com, and now she's revealed the identity ... the San Diego Chargers' linebacker Shawne Merriman. Velez stopped by Angela Yee's Lip Service radio show (via TeamYee.tv) to discuss their relationship, why the broke up, and who came between then. She says they were on and off for nearly four years before Merriman said he was ready to commit. "Before it hit New Years of '09, he was like 'I wanna be serious, I'm ready for the relationship to be serious,' and I was like 'aight.' I was traveling back and forth, and I was like 'Nah, you're not serious' and he's like 'Yea, I wanna have a family,' " Glo explained. However, despite the attempt at making their relationship official, Velez says the NFL player didn't stay committed. She suspects that he and a certain female celebrity hooked up at Diddy's recent All-White Party in Los Angeles. "Long story short, we tried to make it happen for a minute, and we were waiting to see if I was pregnant. Then recently, he went to Puffy's All-White Party, and we was doing his thing like he was single," Glo sad. "I believe he was f***ing for sure. Not at the party, but obviously, he f***ed somewhere. BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - NBA star Dirk Nowitzki's former fiancee Crystal Taylor was transferred from a Texas jail to a lockup in Missouri on Tuesday. Crystal Taylor was transferred to a Missouri jail on Tuesday. (Jefferson County Sheriff's Office / FOXSports.com) Taylor, arrested at Nowitzki's Dallas home in May, was taken to Missouri after posting bond in Jefferson County. Keith Day of Professional Bail Bonding in Beaumont was listed as the agent who paid, but officials there said they were unable to determine where the money came from. Taylor, 38, faces probation violation charges in Missouri. She was charged with theft in Beaumont, Texas, for allegedly failing to pay for $10,000 worth of dental work in 2006. Taylor has told The Dallas Morning News that she is pregnant with Nowitzki's child. Nowitzki has filed for custody if a paternity test proves he's the father. Corrections officials in St. Charles County, Missouri, said Taylor arrived early Tuesday to face probation violations stemming from 1997 charges of forgery and stealing. She is scheduled to appear in court next Monday for a bond reduction hearing in Missouri, court documents said. Calls to Taylor's attorney Scott Renick were not immediately returned.
