A 44-year-old Florida woman brought her infant grandchild along with a stash of cocaine and heroin to a recent prison visit, officials said.

But guards searching visitors at the DeSoto Correctional Institution on Sunday found nearly 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of drugs during the jail's check-in process, sheriff's officials said in a Facebook post.

DeSoto County Sheriff's deputies arrested the woman. Then, a K-9 named Liberty conducted a “free air sniff" of her car, where an additional 687 grams (24 ounces) of cocaine and heroin were located, alongside a baby's car seat and other essentials.

The baby was turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The woman was charged with trafficking in heroin and cocaine, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, child abuse/neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A team searching a Mississippi courthouse basement for evidence about the lynching of Black teenager Emmett Till has found the unserved warrant charging a white woman in his 1955 kidnapping, and relatives of the victim want authorities to finally arrest her nearly 70 years later.

A warrant for the arrest of Carolyn Bryant Donham — identified as “Mrs. Roy Bryant” on the document — was discovered last week by searchers inside a file folder that had been placed in a box, Leflore County Circuit Clerk Elmus Stockstill told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Documents are kept inside boxes by decade, he said, but there was nothing else to indicate where the warrant, dated Aug. 29, 1955, might have been.

“They narrowed it down between the ’50s and ’60s and got lucky,” said Stockstill, who certified the warrant as genuine.

The search group included members of the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation and two Till relatives: cousin Deborah Watts, head of the foundation; and her daughter, Teri Watts. Relatives want authorities to use the warrant to arrest Donham, who at the time of the slaying was married to one of two white men tried and acquitted just weeks after Till was abducted from a relative’s home, killed and dumped into a river.

“Serve it and charge her,” Teri Watts told the AP in an interview.

Keith Beauchamp, whose documentary film “The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till” preceded a renewed Justice Department probe that ended without charges in 2007, was also part of the search. He said there’s enough new evidence to prosecute Donham.

Donham set off the case in August 1955 by accusing the 14-year-old Till of making improper advances at a family store in Money, Mississippi. A cousin of Till who was there has said Till whistled at the woman, an act that flew in the face of Mississippi’s racist social codes of the era.

Evidence indicates a woman, possibly Donham, identified Till to the men who later killed him. The arrest warrant against Donham was publicized at the time, but the Leflore County sheriff told reporters he did not want to “bother” the woman since she had two young children to care for.

Now in her 80s and most recently living in North Carolina, Donham has not commented publicly on calls for her prosecution. But Teri Watts said the Till family believes the warrant accusing Donham of kidnapping amounts to new evidence.

“This is what the state of Mississippi needs to go ahead,” she said.

District Attorney Dewayne Richardson, whose office would prosecute a case, declined comment on the warrant but cited a December report about the Till case from the Justice Department, which said no prosecution was possible.

Contacted by the AP on Wednesday, Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said: “This is the first time I’ve known about a warrant.”

Banks, who was 7 years old when Till was killed, said “nothing was said about a warrant” when a former district attorney investigated the case five or six years ago.

“I will see if I can get a copy of the warrant and get with the DA and get their opinion on it,” Banks said. If the warrant can still be served, Banks said, he would have to talk to law enforcement officers in the state where Donham resides.

Arrest warrants can “go stale” due to the passage of time and changing circumstances, and one from 1955 almost certainly wouldn’t pass muster before a court, even if a sheriff agreed to serve it, said Ronald J. Rychlak, a law professor at the University of Mississippi.

But combined with any new evidence, the original arrest warrant “absolutely” could be an important stepping stone toward establishing probable cause for a new prosecution, he said.

“If you went in front of a judge you could say, ‘Once upon a time a judge determined there was probable cause, and much more information is available today,’” Rychlak said.

Till, who was from Chicago, was visiting relatives in Mississippi when he entered the store where Donham, then 21, was working on Aug. 24, 1955. A Till relative who was there, Wheeler Parker, told AP that Till whistled at the woman. Donham testified in court that Till also grabbed her and made a lewd comment.

Two nights later, Donham’s then-husband, Roy Bryant, and his half-brother, J.W. Milam, showed up armed at the rural Leflore County home of Till’s great-uncle, Mose Wright, looking for the youth. Till’s brutalized body, weighted down by a fan, was pulled from a river days later in another county. His mother’s decision to open the casket so mourners in Chicago could see what had happened helped galvanize the building civil rights movement of the time.

Bryant and Milam were acquitted of murder but later admitted the killing in a magazine interview. While both men were named in the same warrant that accused Donham of kidnapping, authorities did not pursue the case following their acquittal.

Wright testified during the murder trial that a person with a voice “lighter” than a man’s identified Till from inside a pickup truck and the abductors took him away. Other evidence in FBI files indicates that earlier that same night, Donham told her husband at least two other Black men were not the right person.

Video After The Jump

In this clip, Bimmy shares his thoughts on the life sentence handed down to his former mentor Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, before weighing in on the fact that Murder Inc beat a money laundering case that stemmed from their relationship with the ex-drug lord. Bimmy stated that the only reason that the members of Murder Inc who were indicted didn't end up serving time behind bars is because the feds "didn't want them, they wanted [Supreme]." From there he explains why Supreme taught him that anyone who chooses to take part in the drug game should be fully prepared to do 10 years in prison. As the conversion nears the end, Bimmy explains why he and his former mentor no longer talk. He states that Supreme wishes not to speak to him anymore due to his friendship with 50 Cent and the belief that unflattering things were said about him in string of interviews with various media outlets.

NEW YORK (AP) — Disgraced R&B superstar R. Kelly was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for using his fame to sexually abuse young fans, including some who were just children, in a systematic scheme that went on for decades.

Through tears & anger, several of Kelly’s accusers told a court, and the singer himself, that he had preyed on them & misled his fans.

“You made me do things that broke my spirit. I literally wished I would die because of how low you made me feel,” said one unnamed survivor, directly addressing a Kelly.

“Do you remember that?” she asked.

Kelly, 55, didn’t speak at his sentencing & showed no visible reaction on hearing his penalty, which also includes a $100,000 fine. The Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling songwriter was convicted last year of racketeering & sex trafficking at a trial that gave voice to accusers who had previously wondered if their stories were being ignored because they were Black women.

Victims “have sought to be heard & acknowledged,” another one of his accusers said at his sentencing. “We are no longer the preyed-on individuals we once were.”

A third woman, sobbing & sniffling as she spoke, said Kelly’s conviction renewed her confidence in the legal system.

“I once lost hope,” she said, addressing the court & prosecutors, “but you restored my faith.”

The woman said Kelly victimized her after she went to a concert when she was 17.

HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – A woman charged with capital murder in connection with the death of her own sister.

Carmen White, 38, is now in custody. Authorities have accused her of of shooting her sister, Cynthia Cervantes, multiple times & then dumping the body at the end of a dirt road in Houston & setting it on fire.

Cervantes’ body was found on April 1. Authorities said that they believe she was shot several times.

A witness said he knew White made a terroristic threat against her in February when White was arrested & found to have meth in her possession. The witness said White was “very angry” about Cervantes calling police, having to go to jail & her previous car being towed & not being able to recover it from the tow lot. The witness said White killed Cervantes in retaliation for criminal charges that were filed after Cervantes called the police.

Another witness claiming to be White’s former boyfriend told police White contacted him & said she needed help. He said White asked him to help move the body to her car in exchange for sexual favors as payment. He saw the body wrapped in a garbage bag & declined to help.

White’s 13-year-old son said his mother called him away from playing with his 12-year-old brother at the park & asked him to help her. She led him to a dumpster area & told him to move a bagged “unknown” item into her vehicle. Documents said he “reached down & lifted what felt like human legs so he dropped the legs back to the ground.” White became upset & demanded that he pick up the body & move it to her vehicle. He again resisted but his mother became “extremely aggressive” & feared what she may do to him so he gave in out of fear for his safety.

In the ongoing matter of the murder trial for Eric Holder, the 32-year-old was supposed to testify during his June 28 appearance. A breaking news alert from Rolling Stone highlights how the 32-year-old, who is supposed to be separated from other inmates when being transported to and from the court, was allegedly physically assaulted at some point.

A source told the outlet that Holder’s injuries and subsequent treatment prevented him from appearing at his trial. And though the extent of his injuries is unknown, Rolling Stone describes it as “more than a black eye.” The judge told jurors to return to the courtroom Wednesday unless deemed otherwise. Holder, also a member of the Rollin’ 60s gang that called Nipsey Hussle a member, believes the latter had accused him of “snitching” to law enforcement.

He has pleaded not guilty to killing rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle.

THISMINORITY HAS NOTHING TO HIDE

Medi-2.png

Brooklyn, NY — THISMINORITY shares creations in order to put you in YOUR PLACE…

This PLACE is one of SELF LOVE and ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Took him a long time to find the love that is the foundation and explanation for why he creates what he creates.

The reason This Minority’s face is hidden is not because of fear— it’s to show change, the metamorphosis out of the shell. A shell that was filled with inherited insecurities and generations of untouched potential. This change will inspire moments that will enhance revolutions.

Rotations

This is a heavy statement, but this creator acknowledges the power that comes with Recognition. So he puts energy forward to help clarify the way you see the world and yourself. His art gives expression to the experience of the world from within the shell, and the moment when the world shook the shell until it broke. This fracturing left This Minority feeling naked, distorted, unwelcome, unworthy, and ultimately useless…

This bio could end here, but a different story unfolded: he realized the love in the world, which lit a spark in Self, which in turn sparked the vibrations gifted to him. This Minority creates to inspire reflections that lead us to see our true selves. Breaking into music is only the beginning for This Minority—but breaking through will make his ending one he’ll cherish.

This led to THE MINORITY REPORT. Findings reflected upon while changing and each track shows a different aspect of metamorphosis. This is why each mask from this project is a color. Each is inspired by a chakra point based on the feel of the track.

THISMINORITY is looking forward to showing his exit from the cocoon and acknowledges that this will lead to more cocoons in the future. He sees that, unlike butterflies, we as people constantly have cocoons and can continuously bloom!

That is why this project’s name is the minority report because he is the only one with his truth and the only one that can not only fully recognize it but also use it at its full potential. Thisminority’s multilayered chakra-colored cocoons represent his journey. He’ll be in touch with your hearts, soul, and parts of your mind!

Doing this by helping the world (and self) recognize and realize certain aspects of being in order to reflect as individuals (minorities) and as a collective. Took him a long time to travel outside of himself and within himself to find the love that is the foundation and explanation for he creates. No, his name is not THISMINORITY or Theo Minori.

Current influences are high-energy musicians or those who are mad deep like ScHoolboy Q, Landlady, Overcoats, Ray Charles, El Michels Affair, Funky notes, Billie Eilish, Noname, The O’My’s, Tom Waits, Run The Jewels and others. ABOUT

LollyPop is an indie entertainer who is based out of the Middle Georgia area. The singer-songwriter began indie modeling at first in 2014, but soon after realizing her potential and fervor for music, delved into releasing original musical compositions. LollyPop strongly believes that if she had studied the art of music earlier, she would have put out musical masterpieces much earlier, during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Growing up, Lollypop’s main inspirations were icons such as Prince and Michael Jackson, who stood out to her like no other performer she saw on television. She was also enthralled by several other tracks from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

A promising artist, LollyPop has already had charting achievements with her first two indie albums on iTunes, and continues to amass more streams and downloads, mostly from Spotify. Her main goals and future plans include garnering nominations for her released tracks, as well as hitting mainstream lists.
