Almost 9 tons of cocaine hidden in a single shipping container was seized by police in Ecuador. Concealed in a shipment of bananas, the drugs were headed for Belgium from the port terminal of Guayaquil - a major transit hub for the cocaine trade.
The drugs were worth $330 million in Europe.
The seizure underscores Ecuador’s growing importance in the global drug-trafficking business, in which it has grown to be a key transit hub in the last decade. Cocaine produced in the South American nations of Colombia, Bolivia & Peru often pass through the massive port in Guayaquil en route to Europe & the U.S.
In 2021, authorities seized more than 200 tons of drugs, nearly double that of the previous year. During 2020, Ecuador seized the third largest volume of drugs in the world, behind Colombia & the U.S.
So much cocaine is being seized that Ecuadorian authorities are turning it into concrete by combining it with cement, sand & water, supported by the United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime. The government can’t burn enough seized cocaine fast enough & the method has given authorities a way to dispose of large amounts of cocaine in a matter of days.
Ecuador has blamed Mexican drug cartels for a spike in violence that has accompanied a growth in drug seizures. The incursion by both the Sinaloa Cartel & Jalisco New Generation Cartel into Ecuador has fueled an increasingly bloody & aggressive drug war that resembles violence seen during the worst days of the Mexican drug war.
Decapitated heads found in the streets & bodies left hanging from bridges are an increasingly common occurrence in Ecuador, which only a few years ago was one of Latin America’s most peaceful countries. As local gangs team up with Mexico cartels to win control of the drug market, murder rates have soared & a record number of Ecuadorians are trying to migrate to the U.S.

Armed robbers who allegedly stormed into a church in Missouri were reportedly foiled when the pastor & congregation prayed for them.
Former police officer Marquaello Futrell, pastor of All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church in Ferguson, Missouri, said that the alleged would-be robbers were apprehended by the Holy Spirit during the Sunday morning service on Feb. 12.
The incident broke out when a man carrying 2 bags entered the church & started asking questions of the children's services director.
4 young men in masks then entered the church.
"Me being a former police officer, I immediately noticed their waistbands. I’m like, 'There’s something there,'" the pastor said.
Another member of the church later witnessed one of the individuals in the group dropping a firearm. Instead of causing panic among his congregation, Futrell continued with the scheduled service & promptly notified the police.
The pastor ultimately approached the men who were sitting in the back, telling them he still had "a cop anointing."
"Don’t you play with me," he told the young men. "I still got a cop anointing & I still know what’s going on & I still know what’s about to happen. God’s about to change the plot of the enemy. Lift your voices and shout unto God for what he’s about to do."
After they agreed to receive prayer, the congregation prayed for the young men for several minutes.
"See, that wasn’t so bad, brothers," Futrell told the men after the church had prayed for them. "Thank you all for letting us pray for you. And we’re thankful that for whatever reason, the Lord let you all come here. That when you walked on the ground, you walked on Holy Ghost turf."
The Ferguson Police Department later confirmed that the 4 men left the church. The investigation is reportedly continuing.

CNN - Arizona authorities targeting the Sinaloa drug cartel have seized narcotics estimated to be worth more than $13 million, including more than 4.5 million fentanyl pills, 3,100 pounds of methamphetamine & large quantities of heroin, cocaine & fentanyl powder, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The agency said the seizure was the culmination of a 3-year-long investigation during which 150 people had so far been charged.
“The fentanyl seized represents more than 30 million potentially lethal doses,” the DEA said.
Authorities displayed some of the recovered narcotics at a joint news conference Thursday.
“The sample you see here today is staggering. There are over 4.5 million fentanyl pills, over 140 pounds of fentanyl powder, over 135 kilos of cocaine, over 3,000 pounds of methamphetamine, 35 kilos of heroin, 49 firearms & over $2 million in cash,” Interim Tempe Police Chief Josie Montenegro said.
According to authorities, “numerous” people were taken into custody in the bust.
Phoenix DEA Special Agent in Charge Cheri Oz said investigators are “laser-focused” on the Sinaloa cartel.
“I want to be crystal clear, the drugs in this room & the drugs that are flooding Arizona every single day are sourced primarily by one evil as the Sinaloa drug cartel,” she said. “We are laser-focused on them & we will defeat them. We will not stop.”
The country is struggling with a decades-long opioid epidemic in which fentanyl has become the most commonly used drug involved in overdoses.
Deaths involving synthetic opioids increased by 22% in 2021, according to CDC data, & in 2022, there were about 181,806 nonfatal opioid overdoses recorded in the U.S.

As a group, The Official 4PM is motivated strongly to release positive music- for the heart, mind, and soul. Layering tracks with both meaning and purpose, the artists are driven by real-life experiences which are revolved around the power of love.
“We have watched music in a general go from expressions of love, pain, laughter, and joy to very dark expressions of hate, anger, and violence…we are currently working on finishing up the last of the songs for our upcoming Album “A Song for Everyone” which we plan on releasing in the Spring of ’23,” said the artists.

ABOUT
The Official 4PM (For Positive Music) was formed in 1991 by Roberto Pena Jr., Larry McFarland, Martiz Ware, and Reney Pena. The group started as an Acapella group named “IV Real,” competing in talent shows in and around Baltimore, Maryland. They caught the attention of a record label executive in 1994 while performing their original song at a party in New York City. Shortly after, they signed to the label and began recording their debut album under the new name “The Official 4PM.”
The Official 4PM’s debut single “Sukiyaki” from the album “Now’s The Time” peaked at #8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in February 1995. The record was certified gold in the US, Canada, and Japan and certified platinum in Australia. Together, the artists embarked on an international tour, performing for audiences worldwide. In 2022, 4pm began working on their latest project “A Song for Everyone,” releasing their first single and video for “Some Of The Time” in December 2022 and their second single and video for “What Can I Say” in February 2023.
