LOS ANGELES, CA – The music industry has seen a trend within the influence of reggae and dancehall. Mainstream hip-hop artists are routinely incorporating the island, carefree vibe within their music, especially in the last few years. Breakout reggae urban star KC Jockey is here to grace the fans with the Jamaican-style music they’ve been craving. With the artist’s native roots tracing back to Kingston, it’s no surprise that his music truly captures the essence so naturally.
Coming from a strong background in music within his family, KC Jockey knew it was his destiny to develop a musical career. Ever since he knew how to make sounds as an infant, he was always humming and singing. Once he moved to the states, he pushed further in making his musical dreams a true reality, no matter how much work was involved. “Due to my parents being protective, I grew up somewhat sheltered. Once given the opportunity to go out of my element, I really wanted to get into my roots through music. So, I would perform around the neighborhood, and at block parties. It all spiraled from there,” said the artist. When it comes down to what makes him stand it out, it’s simply how organically he goes outside out the box. KC Jockey is the type of artist that avoids the easier route just to get to his final destination. “I try to take the harder route because I’m always searching for results in the end. I’m very versatile, so I like to blend my music with a little bit of everything, from pop to jazz to reggae. Not many people can do that,” said KC Jockey.
Recently, KC announced the release of his new hit single, “Love in the Air”, which belongs to his upcoming EP of the same name. It has been a busy month for the artist, as he is gearing up to film the visuals for the single in the next few weeks. The single is a true reflection of KC’s artistry, as it showcases happiness, joy and love. “I like when people hear my music, and it brings them back to a dated moment. It’s something to remember; it’s something that brings you back to that certain memory. The EP has songs that reflect long-term memories with substance,” said KC. The EP will encompass his timeless, infectious sound he is known for.
Not only is he an all-star vocalist and songwriter, KC also uses his platform to promote positivity throughout the world. Four years ago, he created his “Say No to Domestic Violence” project, which he poured his heart into. He will also bring awareness to the aggressive sickness that is cancer through his single, Cancer”. He will also address the issue of bullying through his song “Don’t Bully”. With such a variety of talent, such as acting in major motion pictures like I Am Legend alongside Will Smith, he plans to utilize his skills when putting the visuals together for his EP. Is there anything KC Jockey can’t do? One thing is for certain: he sets an example for artists from all genres to follow, both off and on stage. It’s no surprise that music labels are knocking at his front door, trying to work with him.

After spending four days in two separate hospitals Rick Ross is back at his Miami home, according to TMZ.
The 42-year old Maybach Music Group boss was at one point in critical condition, needing the help of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), a mechanical system that temporarily takes over the function of the lungs in patients with acute respiratory failure. It can also provide cardiac support until the patient recovers or is able to receive further treatment.
As we previously reported, Ross, born William Roberts II, was rushed to the hospital Thursday, March 1, after being found unresponsive, breathing heavily and "slobbing at the mouth."
He was released from the hospital early Monday morning and is now receiving treatment at home.

Canelo Alvarez has tested positive for a performance enhancing drug just two months ahead of his highly anticipated rematch with Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.
Forbes reports that on On Monday, March 5, Golden Boy Promotions issued a statement saying Alvarez was found to have trace levels of Clenbuterol in his system. The drug is used to cut body fat while maintaining muscle mass.
Alvarez believes the positive test was a result of ingesting contaminated meat. An issue that has been a problem for athletes in Mexico.
Per Daniel Eichner, Director of SMRTL, the WADA-accredited lab that conducted the tests, "these values are all within the range of what is expected from meat contamination."
"I am an athlete who respects the sport and this surprises me and bothers me because it had never happened to me," said Canelo. "I will submit to all the tests that require me to clarify this embarrassing situation and I trust that at the end the truth will prevail."
The boxer will be moving his training camp from Mexico to the United States. He's agreed to submit to a variety of VADA testing ahead of his May 5 fight with Golovkin.

A woman accusing Lil Wayne of fathering her 16-year old son will find out soon if he is the dad.
TMZ reports that Keiotia Watson initially filed legal documents in 2015, to establish paternity and get child support. She claims she and Wayne had a sexual relationship in June of 2001. Her son Dwayne, Tunechi's government name, was born in February 2002.
A Louisiana judge ordered Wayne to pay Watson $5,000 a month, but he never coughed up a dime because, according to him, he was never served legal papers.
That judgement was thrown out and a new one was ordered, requiring the Young Money Records boss to take a DNA test.
If Dwayne is determined to be the rapper's son it will be his fifth child with 5 different women. Wayne denies ever having sex with Watson.

NEW YORK (AP) — Back on track after two straight powerful performances, Sergey Kovalev looks ready for a bigger test.
He wasn’t interested in talking about another fight with Andre Ward.
How about a match with another rugged Russian?
Kovalev powerfully defended his WBO light heavyweight title Saturday night, opening a deep cut under fellow Russian Igor Mikhalkin’s right eye that forced the fight to be stopped with 35 seconds left in the seventh round.
“Krusher” won his second consecutive fight since his back-to-back losses to Ward, dealing punishment to his former amateur teammate in the first defense of the title he regained in his last bout.
That followed an earlier victory at Madison Square Garden for WBA 175-pound champion and fellow Russian Dmitry Bivol, who remained unbeaten with a 12th-round stoppage of Cuba’s Sullivan Barrera.
Maybe Kovalev-Bivol is the match to make.
“If it’s a big money fight, I am always ready for that,” Kovalev said.
Kovalev (32-2-1, 28 KOs) took some punches but simply walked through them and opened the cut in the sixth round. Then in the seventh, referee Steve Willis halted the action and sent Mikhalkin to the corner after a flurry of punches to his face, and the physician said the fight needed to be halted.
He had to work longer and harder than his November victory over Slava Shabranskyy, whom he stopped in two rounds in the same arena to take back one of the titles Ward vacated upon retirement.
“This was better work than the last fight for sure,” Kovalev said.
Mikhalkin (21-2) had a bloody U.S. debut, winning just one round on one judge’s card.
Mikhalkin landed some clean shots, as “Krusher” either wasn’t seeing the straight lefts from the southpaw or simply wasn’t respecting his power. Mikhalkin has only nine knockouts and it became clear he wouldn’t get another — though Kovalev did say he felt some of the body shots.
Kovalev has fought two relative unknowns since he lost his three belts in a close decision loss to Ward in 2016 and then was stopped in the eighth round last June in the rematch.
He certainly seems ready for something tougher — though he didn’t seem interested in hearing that Ward teased a possible third fight.
“I don’t think about that right now,” he said. “I just want to do what the fans want to see and I love boxing.”
Promoter Kathy Duva said she hoped Kovalev would fight again at MSG in July, though it was too early to consider the opponent.
Fans — Russian ones, at least — might like to see him against Bivol, who was dominant in the biggest fight of his career.
Bivol (13-0, 11 KOs) was dominating the fight and a little over a minute from winning an easy decision when he caught Barrera with a hard right to the head to set up the knockdown. Barrera was able to get up in time but the referee stopped the fight at 1:41 of the round.
“In the first few rounds I was a little reserved trying to plan for the rest of the right,” Bivol said through an interpreter. “When it got to the 12th round I knew I would be able to knock him out so I stepped on the gas.”
Bivol outlanded Barrera 243-75 in total punches, according the final stats, in his second defense of the title he was given when Ward retired. He wasn’t bothered by a cut near the right eye in the second round that the ringside doctor checked a couple of times in the later rounds but never affected him.
Barrera (21-2) was offered a fight first with Kovalev but chose instead to take less money for a shot at Bivol, perhaps counting on his experience over his 27-year-old opponent.
But he had no answer for the champion’s speed and accuracy and did well to last as long as he did. His only previous loss had been to Ward.
Bivol may still be young, but he looks ready.
“It’s not up to us who I fight,” he said. “I can only be the best if I fight the best and I have the belt, so come get it.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Deontay Wilder was out on his feet. Forget defending his WBC heavyweight title, Wilder was lucky to find his corner when the seventh round concluded.
About 10 minutes later, he was strutting around the Barclays Center ring, his belt secure, but his reputation as being untouchable severely tarnished.
Wilder survived a pummeling from Luis Ortiz, then knocked out the challenger in the 10th round Saturday night to retain his crown. Befitting the undefeated champion from Alabama, it was a wild affair for the final few rounds after a dull series of pawing and gesturing by Wilder gave Ortiz a solid lead.
“A true champion always finds a way to come back and that’s what I did tonight,” Wilder said. “Luis Ortiz is definitely a crafty guy. He put up a great fight. We knew we had to wear him down. I showed everyone I can take a punch.”
Well, yeah — Wilder certainly took his share of them.
Even after Wilder knocked down Ortiz in the fifth round, the bout remained in the Cuban’s favor.
Then, in the seventh, Wilder was dazed and confused by Ortiz’s assault. Though he never hit the canvas, he stumbled to his corner when that round ended. The end seemed near.
“I almost had him and I think I would’ve if there were a few more seconds in the round,” Ortiz said. “Wilder was definitely saved by the bell. I thought I had him out on his feet. But you have to give him credit, he weathered the storm.”
Instead of folding, Wilder closed the ninth with two hard rights, and then a series of vicious combinations in the 10th started Ortiz’s downfall.
It was over with 55 seconds to go in the 10th after Ortiz went down for the second time in the round from a right uppercut and referee David Fields stopped it.
“I just had to get my range back and my fundamentals back,” Wilder said. “And I was able to do that. I showed I was a true champion tonight.”
Wilder, 32, is 40-0 with 39 knockouts. This easily was his toughest bout. Somehow, he was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards.
The Associated Press had it 86-83 for Ortiz heading into the 10th.
Ortiz, 38, is 28-1. He couldn’t have come much closer to becoming the first Cuban heavyweight belt holder after finally getting his match with Wilder. Their initially scheduled bout was in November, but Ortiz twice tested positive for a banned substance, a diuretic.
He was ready Saturday, but not quite resourceful enough.
“In this sport, any punch can end a fight,” Ortiz said. “In the ring anything can happen.”
Wilder basically threw away the early rounds with a lack of aggression and much clowning. The left-handed Ortiz was all business.
In the fifth, with boos raining down from the crowd of 14,069 at Barclays Center, Wilder finally landed a solid punch. That invigorated him and two rights to the chin sent down Ortiz.
Wilder couldn’t finish him, and was nearly finished himself two rounds later. Ortiz was so dominant in those three minutes that Wilder looked bewildered at his predicament.
The champ hung on in the eighth, then somehow found the fortitude and punching power to turn it around in the final two rounds.
“Luis Ortiz was one of those fighters that everyone ducked, even champions ducked him,” Wilder said. “I wondered why it took so long for him to get a title shot and now we know.”
What boxing doesn’t know is how this performance will affect the division. Wilder’s sights have been set on Anthony Joshua, who defends his WBA and IBF crowns at the end of the month against WBO champ Joseph Parker.
If nothing else, Wilder’s ring reputation took a hit, although his toughness and ability to take a punch can’t be questioned.
“I’m ready right now,” Wilder said. “I always said that I want to unify. I’m ready whenever those guys are. I am the baddest man on the planet and I proved that tonight. This solidified my position at the top of the food chain tonight.”
