Lamar Odom still has a long way to go as he fights for his life. But for the first time since being hospitalized he's showing signs of improvement.
TMZ reports that there is reason for optimism after doctors at the Las Vegas hospital where the 35-year old former NBA player is being cared for ran tests Friday, October 16th, that show his heart function is "much better."
It had been previously reported that 4 major organs, including Odom's heart, were failing. Doctors say that the improvement is a good sign.
Odom remains in a coma. Physicians are stressing that he needs "calm" around him because non-stimulation promotes healing.
They are limiting the amount of people being allowed in his room. Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has remained by his bedside.
As we previously reported, Odom found unresponsive Tuesday, October 13, following a weekend of partying at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada.

Lamar Odom is out of a coma and responsive, according to new reports by several media outlets, including E!Online and USA Today.
Odom's former college coach, Jim Harrick, told USA Today that Khloe Kardashian texted him the encouraging news.
“She reached down and said ‘you know I love you’ and he kind of nodded,” Harrick said during a phone interview. “Three or four days after being scared to death and fearing the worst, that is a little hope, a little progress. She texted me that (information).”
The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year is breathing on his own, speaking and functioning, E!Online reports.

Scarface shared his thoughts on racism in America during a recent interview with VladTV, and the legendary emcee told us that he feels like it's more heightened today. The Houston spitter then added that black people don't want to take revenge on white people, as he says, "we just want to be left the f*ck alone."
As the conversation continued, Scarface shared why he thinks there is nothing wrong with the Confederate flag, but rather with the people supporting racist views associated with the flag. He also opened up about why he thinks black people should get reparations, which you can hear more about in the clip below.

Master P is not biting his tongue regarding his friend Lamar Odom's coma and what he sees as fake love being shown by Kobe Bryant and the Kardashian family.
"I was like a mentor to [Lamar] and it's just sad to see what's going on," P told TMZ Sports. "The truth of the matter is, it's so many phony and fake people out here now. It goes to show when something happens to you. Everybody's his friend, everybody loves him. But was that true? I don't think so"
"It's like my wife and her lawyer sitting by my bedside is something happens to me. It ain't real," he continued. "I'm talking about Kobe. All this man wanted to do was play basketball. Kobe was his friend. Kobe like, owns the [L.A. Lakers]. He could have got the man back on the team. That's all he wanted. And even in that situation I think he was just looking for love. Where the people at he showed love to? 'Cause he had a big heart...it's phony man I come from the streets. If you my friend why you didn't get him into training camp? I think he could have been at least the eighth man on the Lakers roster this year."
P goes on to say that Odom's former wife, Khloe Kardashian, and her family as well as Kobe should have been there for Lamar long before this present situation.
He believes Odom didn't know what he was getting into when he married into the Kardashian family and traces some of his friend's problems back to the reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
The business mogul then issued a warning to Khloe's current boyfriend James Harden.
"This may be an example to all the other NBA players out there," P said. "Maybe to James Harden. Maybe to whoever."
**UPDATE** October 16th
Kobe Bryant has responded to Master P's accusation that he only visited a comatose Lamar Odom for publicity.
Bryant took to his Twitter account on Thursday, October 15th, and questioned what may have led P to come to such a conclusion.
On Friday P softened his stance just a bit in a post on his Facebook page and even admitted he stopped dealing with Lamar because he couldn't help him.
MASTER P SAYS THE TRUTH HURTS
Master P speaks truth..he says, "If you're real with someone, you keep it real through the good and bad times. I understand first hand from dealing with my own brother that was living recklessly, I had to show him tough love but I'd never cut him off because we're blood. I'm not pointing the
finger at anyone, Lamar's unfortunate situation is a result of his own decisions and actions. I can relate to D.L. Hugley's statement on dealing with family members with addictions, it's draining. I'm not a phony, I can admit that I stopped dealing with Lamar years ago for those same reasons.
Even though I've known Lamar for over 15 years, it wasn't like we were the best of friends. I tried to mentor him and give him advice but he is a grown man and made his own decisions. You can't help anyone that don't want any help and I get that, that 's life. So that's why I stopped dealing with Lamar,
it's not like we're blood related where I would have to put up with his reckless behavior.
I'm sure Lamar has many people in his life such as family members, friends, colleagues, teammates, significant others who have stopped dealing with him but I'm just not afraid to openly admit it, due to his unfortunate medical situation. I can also admit that me and my family are far from perfect, we have situations we're dealing with. My prayers are going out to Lamar and his family. I pray that he comes out of this, he may have a rocky past but overall he's a good brother.
And the only reason I'm not running to the hospital to visit him, I'm not looking for publicity, I don't need it. Only when I was asked, I stated my opinion on what I knew about this man from the times I was around him. Lamar complained about how everybody turned their backs on him, even his nba buddies. But then people blew
my opinion out of proportion.
I understand that Kobe is one of the greatest basketball players in the world and people are going to side with him. I have nothing against Kobe or the Lakers. I have nothing to hide and I'm willing to speak face to face with anybody, with Kobe or Kardashians about the conversations that Lamar and I have had concerning him trying to get his life back together and getting back into the league. I'm not about entertaining no mess and I'm only speaking on this because I knew this brother. I hope that if ever I was in a similar situation where I couldn't speak for
myself, that somebody would keep it 100 for me.
The truth hurts, even in Hollywood. My condolences to the people that really love him. And I am not trying to question the support of others that are truly grieving, this is a critical, life and death situation. This is only my opinion, it's just sad that last month no one had anything positive to say about Lamar.. and that's what I meant by being phony.
Also check out D.L. Hughley's take on the situation and how difficult it is to deal with someone battling addiction in the video below.

Lamar Odom is currently comatose in a Las Vegas hospital fighting for his life. But that didn't stop NBA player J.R. Smith and rapper Lil Wayne from sending out social media messages on Wednesday, October 14th, that he had already passed away.
“RIP LO damn man I can't believe this,” Smith wrote on Instagram. "If this isn't a sign I don't know what is!!! This life is so much bigger then basketball an any other sport! I can't imagine what he was going through but I know he could have had some better people in his corner! Life doesn't care how much money you made or how man championships you have when its time to go it's time to go! Some people say ‘it's easy to be happy you have millions!’ With all the money that comes trust an believe it comes with just as much heartache! Learning a balance is key never get to high on the highs an never get to low on the lows! #RIPLO."
Wayne followed that up with his own tweet sending condolences to Odom's family and friends.

Slim Jesus shook things up in hip-hop earlier this year after telling VladTV that he doesn't live the life he raps about, which Montana of 300 shared his thoughts on during a recent interview. The Chicago rapper said while some people see Slim Jesus as being fake, Montana believes that he's actually being more honest than other rappers by speaking his truth.
The "Play Doe" lyricist also spoke about his upcoming collaboration with Slim Jesus, which he admitted wasn't quite finished yet. When asked about who reached out first, Montana said after getting so many tweets linking both himself and Slim Jesus, he decided to send the Ohio rapper a message with his number.
As far as the status of their upcoming song, Montana said Slim Jesus is just waiting on his verse.

Late last year, Beyonce Knowles' father Mathew caused a media frenzy after he was suspected of selling his superstar daughter's memorabilia for money. We recently caught up with the former brains behind the Beyonce empire, and he's says it's absolutely stupid to believe such rumors.
"I think people are smart enough to know that if I needed some money, what would I make more of? Selling a $5 t-shirt? Or look behind me," he says, pointing to the Destiny's Child plaques. "Would I make more by selling maybe this plaque, and getting maybe $10,000? I mean if I really needed money I think I probably could generate at least $100-200,000...But I wouldn't do that."
Mr. Knowles then goes on to talk about the several buildings he owns around Houston, Texas - the Knowles' family's hometown - and how one of them contained lots of memorabilia collected over the years from several artists, including Beyonce. According to Mathew, it was actually his staff's idea to sell said things , as some of them wanted it to be a part of their Christmas bonuses. "Of course you gotta understand probably 5% of this stuff was Destiny's Child, Beyonce records - 95% of this stuff was furniture and old electronics. It was a garage sale - no more, no less," he explains.

Dennis Hof, the owner of Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada, where Lamar Odom was found unconscious on Tuesday, October 13th, made an appearance on the Nancy Grace show on Wednesday night. But not before Khloe Kardashian tried to prevent him from talking about the incident.
"I got a call from the Kardashians' publicist today saying 'Are you going to do any media?' And I said 'Yes I'm going to go on the Nancy Grace show." And she said 'please don't do that, we'd rather have Khloe say what needs to be said'. I told her to go to hell," Hof said.
Lamar is still in a coma following the incident. Doctors have given him a 50/50 chance for survival.
Why do you think Khloe is trying to control what is being said about her ex-husband's tragic situation?
