The 2010 BET Awards promises to be a star studded event.
Possibly the most anticipated performance will come from Kanye West. The Louis Vuitton Don has kept a very low profile after his infamous 2009 MTV Video Music Awards stunt. Where he snatched the mic out of Taylor Swift's hand and ranted about Beyonce deserving the award for Best Female Video.
Ye' Uttered the now famous line "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," then vanished with then girlfriend Amber Rose and his bottle of Henny.
But with the release of his new positively received single "Power" and a new album on the way, Yeezy is ready to make a comeback.
BET released a statement saying in part “While West received much backlash and criticism following the VMAs, BET decided to give the multifaceted performer a spot in music history during its 10 year anniversary special.”
Other performers on the show will include Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Diddy and Dirty Money as well as T.I.
Singer John Legend will receive The Humanitarian Award.
It's been a long time time coming. The reunion of Eminem and Royce Da 5'9 is something hip hop fans have longed for. Now that it's finally happening even Royce is still amazed by Em after all these years.
He told MTV: "I think it's phenomenal how [Eminem manager] Paul [Rosenberg] can be around us joking one minute, and then the next second, he's on the phone handling business and dealing with point people. It's so tight. I peep the way they do things, the way Em knocks sh-- out without complaining. It teaches me a lot. It's like being a fly on the wall. You about to be a part of something special. I truly feel that Em is about to go on a crazy run. The album is phenomenal. I see a pattern, and I'm glad to be a part of it."
The dynamic duo just got back from overseas where they appeared on the Tim Westwood show along with Kon Artist aka Mr Porter & super producer The Alchemist.
Royce elaborated on the idea behind doing the eight minute freestyle.
"You know what's crazy? Denaun [Mr Porter] was like, 'We should just do two verses. The three verses is going to be too long,' " Royce said. "Em was the one pushing for three verses. He was like, 'Let's do three verses.' I'm like, 'Damn, he must really wanna get these off.' When I heard them, I knew why he wanted to spit them. When we did it, it was fun. It took us back. When we got on the jet going back, we was talking the whole way about that sh--. That sh-- reminded me of back in the day when we used to go in. Me and Em got an 11-minute freestyle on Stretch Armstrong's show 10 years ago. It took us back to that. It was like we was kids again. It was fun."
Since touching back down in Detroit, Royce has been promoting his new mixtape with DJ Whoo Kid titled 'Bar Exam 3'. The tape mixes real hip hop with a couple of comedy classics like a parody of "Chocolate Rain" titled "Spark Yo Brain" and the hilarious "I Hate Your Pants" where Royce goes in on the skinny jeans fad.
The tape has features from Black Milk, Elzhi, Kid Vishis & soon to be Shady Records artists Slaughterhouse.
Lil Wayne has huge aspirations for Young Money franchise player Drake. But hey, you don't become as big a superstar as Wayne is by thinking small.
In footage from DJ Scoob Doo's upcoming "Nino Brown Story, Pt. 3" DVD, Weezy calls Mack Maine from prison, and they talk about the sales of Drake's upcoming Thank Me Later. Wayne hadn't heard the completed LP before he went to prison in March.
"What that boy's sh-- sounding like?" Wayne asks Mack. "A million in a week?"
"Yeah. Like a classic. Big money," Mack answers.
"A million in a week? I need him to do more than Tha Carter III," Weezy adds of his breakthrough album, which sold more than 1 million copies in its debut week. "Like 2 million in the first week. I need him to do 2 million the first week, straight up."
"Let's get it. Ya heard me," Mack answers with a smile. "We gotta put this out."
Wayne then goes back to asking his nearly lifelong friend about the music on Thank Me Later.
"What's it sounding like? He singing his ass off?" the YM CEO asks.
"That n---a got some songs," Mack says with excitement. "One of them he let me hear, 'Karaoke.' It was some singing, I was like, 'When your part come in?' Picture that was him the whole time. I'm like, 'Who this n---a? When your verse come in?' That n---a got different tones now, blood. He's got different tones now. Sh-- we ain't never heard before. He's killing it."
Wayne later tells Mack that his own Tha Carter IV is going to be another major project and that he wants Thank Me Later to sell 10 million copies overall.
"I need [Drake] to do diamond," Wayne says. "And I try to top that. I need him to do that. He's gonna sell."
While in prison, Wayne is already thinking about his first performance when he comes home. "Come straight offstage with the [state] greens on and just go stupid on them," Wayne says of what he's going to do. "I should do it the same night I get out."
The Broad Street Bully is about to invade the airwaves again and he's ready to wave that G-Unit flag.
HipHopBeef caught up with Beanie to address all recent situations. Beans says he's taking it back to the block with his new album which will have features from Travis Barker and Trey Songz.
Beans flashed some of his jewelry and a stack of fresh $100 dollar bills and spoke on G-Unit boss 50 Cent.
"And I aint get no check from 50 yet, so don't think 'oh 50 must have gave him that money', he overseas. They [G-Unit] on tour right now doing they thang. I'm just waiting for them to come back over so we can finalize the business situation that we doing."
Britney Spears former top bodyguard just can't handle her sexual advances and nudity anymore.
Ex police officer Fernando Flores claims the singer has been sexually harassing him by walking around in front of him naked and asking him to come into her bedroom according to The Sun.
A source told The Sun "She was always giving him the come on and he felt if he didn't reciprocate he could lose his job. He finally handed in his notice last week and is considering legal action."
"Working for Britney is tough. She's a nightmare to deal with and her emotions are totally out of control," the source added. "She runs round the house naked and yelling at staff."
Britney's dad Jamie has added to the undesirable work environment by insisting his 28 year old daughter not be allowed to leave the house without a bra. Recently Britney was seen leaving a Hollywood restaurant without panties which set Jamie off.
Jamie holds the bodyguards responsible for Britney's actions.
The source says: "It was embarrassing to tell her to put on underwear. Some guys would do it but others were too ashamed."
Jamie might need to lighten up a bit. Yes he is the currently the executor Britney's estate until she can prove she is of sound mind and body again, but damn she's a grown woman.
As for Fernando the shy cop, I can think of far worse jobs.
Kanye West didn't let an incident involving his stolen black Porsche Panamera stop him from performing three free concerts for Chicago Area Schools.
West's car was stolen by three unknown males in Hawaii on Saturday June 5. The thieves lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into the side of a vacant Honolulu home. The crash totaled the car and left a large hole in the side of the house near Waikiki.
"I looked over here and saw the car impaled in the garage," neighbor Chris Cooper told IVillage.com. Cooper, who lives across the street from the accident site described the sound he heard as a "tremendous crash, as if a small building were coming down."
West who has been renting a home in Oahu while recording his new album wasn't on the island at the time.
On Tuesday (June 8) West left all that drama behind and held his Kanye West Foundation's third annual Stay in School event.
According to MTV, Yeezy thrilled the crowds on what happened to be his 33rd birthday by performing his new single "Power" as well as "Touch The Sky", "Run This Town" and "Good Life".
Kat Stacks is a problem. At least to certain rappers, critics and even the people around her. Earlier this year, the Miami based ex-stripper began airing out sordid details of her alleged affairs with industry men, including Bow Wow, Nelly and members of Young Money.
More recently, Kat made weblines when two men, one of whom claimed affiliation with Fabolous and Bow Wow, slapped her in an Atlanta bar, a video that made the rounds on the Internet. According to Kat's former manager Will Daniels, the stripper-turned-blogger needs to be contained.
“I don’t know how she hasn’t been busted yet because she’s all over the Internet. She’s still on probation for her gun charge,” Daniels tells VIBE. “If she gets caught, she could get deported [to Venezuela] for 10 years.”
Daniels, marketer and owner of celebrity gossip site UBunz.com, began working with Kat a few weeks ago, but their relationship didn’t last long after Kat--who has gone through several managers in a short span--allegedly missed several club appearances at $2,500 per showing and was difficult to manage.
“We were booking her on 10-15 events per month and we were working on getting her on the Dr. Phil Show, a reality TV show, and in [magazines]. We wanted to market her as a personality but for her to miss out on money is ridiculous,” says Daniels. “She’s somebody that just can’t get it together. It’s ridiculous to be like, ‘I’m Kat Stacks and I fuck all these rappers and expose them,’ where’s that gonna take you? That shows me she’s in the same mind frame she was in when she was prostituting.”
Daniels further claims that Kat has a drinking problem, adding that their relationship ended via Twitter when Kat tweeted that Daniels had been fired and that booking and interview requests should be forwarded to @YungMazi (who was not available for comment at press time). Daniels says she called him to apologize days later, blaming it on the alcohol but Daniels was tired of the drama.
“For her to do that was a slap in the face. She doesn’t want to do anything the right way [and] she claims this Yung Mazi guy is beating her up,” says Daniels, adding that she says she has graphic text messages detailing being kicked and stomped to back up her claims.
Daniels also claims that Mazi is affiliated with Fabolous, describing them as "peoples." Both Fab and Bow Wow have denied sending men to attack Kat Stacks. "I don’t know for sure but I think he had something to do with it. He knew where she was going to be,” says Daniels. “These are dangerous people that she’s involved with and I think she’s afraid of them.”
According to Daniels, Stacks’ mom often calls him in search of her daughter, whom she wants to return to Miami safely and to take care of her son.
"Her own friend Jenna Shea [also not available at press time] told me that [Kat] was toxic. She told me to make money off of her and get out,” says Daniels. “I feel bad about the whole situation. I would like to help but you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves.”
Kat Stacks was also unavailable for comment at press time. ⎯Starrene Rhett
Ashanti Elliot Smith is a seven year old in mind and spirit. Her body, however aging at such a rapid rate that by the time she is 10 her bones will be that of a 70 year old.
She is one of only 52 people in the world suffering from a rare disease called Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome that has reduced her life expectancy to 13.
She understands her condition but we don't talk to her about the prognosis as we don't want to scare her," her mother Phoebe, 24, told NOTW
Ashanti's younger sister Brandi-Lou remains unaffected by the disease.
Despite the obstacles she faces, Ashanti remains an upbeat, happy little girl.
"If other children stare at her, Ashanti just smiles and says 'It's because I'm beautiful'," her mom says.
Joran van der Sloot, 22, is being held in Peru, where authorities say he has confessed to the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores. Van der Sloot was, of course, the chief suspect in the disappearance and presumed death of Natalee Holloway in Aruba. In that case, there was insufficient evidence to charge him with a crime, and he was released.
Van der Sloot reportedly explained to Peruvian authorities that he killed Flores when she “intruded” into his personal life by looking at his notebook computer and learning he was involved in Holloway's disappearance.
Indeed, van der Sloot seems to be a killer whose violence erupts from him, rather than the kind of serial killer who methodically and secretively stalks victims and carefully disposes of their remains. He was, after all, seen walking into his hotel room with Flores on a hotel video surveillance camera, and the two had been seen together before the alleged crime. He was known to have spent time with Holloway, as well. Those facts don’t support the kind of methodical stalking of victims that organized serial killers are known for.
Organized serial killers plan their crimes for weeks, months or years. They typically are aware of the internal need to kill. They are known to restrain their victims and bring murder weapons with them to the scenes of their crimes, keeping the weapons with them when they disappear.
Disorganized serial killers (and van der Sloot is apparently one of them) happen upon their victims at random and may be “provoked” to kill not just for the perverse joy of it, but by overwhelming feelings of rage or humiliation.
They often leave murder weapons at the scenes of their crimes and do little to dispose of the physical evidence associated with their crimes. What unites organized and disorganized serial killers, I believe, is a perverse connection with death. Ending life reaches them at a deep level that is connected to their own early and unexplored psychological traumas. The “projection” of their own powerlessness and helplessness and, ultimately, lifelessness is the terrible force that overtakes them—again and again. Alcohol and drugs can contribute to dissolving their defenses and rendering them more likely to be homicidal.
Serial killers — whether organized or disorganized — are always made, never born. Having interviewed dozens of killers myself, I can tell you that it turns out that evil never appears “out of the womb.”
Joran van der Sloot traveled the world in the five years since he was held in Aruba for the murder of Natalee Holloway. One or more unexplained murders anywhere he visited may involve him. But something also has to have killed off van der Sloot’s capacity to contain his rage and to empathize with the suffering of others. And the scene of that crime, stored deep inside the mind of van der Sloot himself, is not yet known.
It may well be that every episode of violence in Joran van der Sloot’s life has seemed to him as though it would be the last one—beginning with the emotional or physical violence that turned him into a predator.--- Dr Keith Ablow

Rapper Ludacris was not to be denied at this year's Hot 97 Summer Jam which took place this past Sunday (June 6).
The Atlanta spitter refused to leave the stage after organizers turned off his mic when his set ran over it's time limit.
Instead of giving in and exiting, Luda kept rhyming acappella, eventually forcing officials to turn his mic back on.
"He kept rapping a cappella when they cut off his juice," a fan told NY Daily News. "Finally, they decided to turn it back on. There really wasn't any other choice, because he wasn't getting off the stage."
Officials also turned the mics off on Gucci Mane and Funkmaster Flex. Both of whom left the stage without incident.
Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) - The mastermind behind the selling of Gary Coleman's photos in the hospital is his ex-wife Shannon Price, it has been learned. The gruesome photos, in which the former child star is seen in his death bed, was orchestrated by the ex-wife who refused to help him when he hit his head.
According to TMZ, the photos have now been sold to a tabloid. One of the images, which shows Coleman after he died, was not part of the selling deal. The other three pictures may hit stands this week.
Price's rep, who originally doubted the existence of the pictures, then admitted to TMZ that "Shannon and her family did take pictures but they were never meant to get out."
And although the website's sources insist that Price, who asked a production company to shoot the pictures, will get a cut of the profit, the rep claims that she is "in no way getting compensated for these pictures."
Price, the wife Coleman divorced after a year of marriage, told the doctors to pull the plug on the "Diff'rent Strokes" star's life support just two days after he fell and hit his head at his Utah home. A recorded 911 call was also made public, in which Price was heard refusing to help Coleman because the blood made her gag.
On May 29, a day after Coleman died, Price was pictured smiling and posing for photos during her interview about Coleman's death.
A police report indicated that there was "nothing suspicious" about Coleman's death. Price may not have anything to do with his death, but her failure to express the right emotions during what is supposed to be a grieving period sends chills to the tragic actor's fans
A gunman shot and killed his wife outside a South Florida restaurant where she worked, then targeted women inside and killed three others before committing suicide, police said Monday.
Police said 38-year-old Gerardo Regalado bypassed at least two men when he fired at the women inside. Three women were hospitalized in critical condition, Hialeah police Detective Eddie Rodriguez said.
"He went straight for the women," Rodriguez said.
Regalado is the half brother of former baseball star pitcher Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, who pitched for the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox during his nearly 20-year Major League Baseball career.
The shooting began Sunday night in a parking lot outside the Yoyito Restaurant in Hialeah, where Regalado of Coral Gables was seen arguing with Liazan Molina, Rodriguez said. According to Florida marriage records, the couple married in 2007.
According to police, Regalado shot and killed Molina, 24, then entered the restaurant and fired on six women inside.
One employee called her brother after the shooting, saying she had been shot and was bleeding.
Felix Fuentes said his sister, Ivet Coronado, told him to "please call 911." He said the 36-year-old woman was recovering Monday from surgery for gunshot wounds to her chest and one of her arms.
Regalado drove off after the shooting, police said. Officers found him dead of an apparent suicide a few blocks away, with the same weapon used in the restaurant shootings, Rodriguez said.
People inside the Coral Gables house where Regalado and Molina lived refused to answer a reporter's knocks at the door. A person who answered the phone identified himself only as a family friend and said the family didn't want to talk.
Hernandez's agent, Mike Maulini, told the Spanish-language newspaper El Nuevo Herald that the family does not know what caused Regalado to shoot seven women.
"This has taken everyone by surprise," Maulini said.
Regalado came to Miami from Cuba in 2006, he said.
"We do not know what might have happened. He was a good kid. Since he arrived he has tried not to depend on his brother and do his own work," Maulini.
In a statement, Hernandez's family offered condolences to the families of the seven women. "It is with great pain that we reach out to everyone affected and offer our prayers in this time of sorrow," the statement said.
It was not immediately clear if all the women shot were restaurant employees or customers. The shooting began shortly after the restaurant had closed.
A series of 911 calls released by police starting record breathless Spanish-language callers urging dispatchers to urgently send ambulances Sunday night.
"Hurry! Hurry!" said one terrified woman in Spanish to the dispatcher. "That man killed them."
A male caller in Spanish is heard on another recording at 10:11 p.m. breathing rapidly and telling the dispatcher, "He entered the Yoyito Restaurant and began shooting like crazy."
He tells the dispatcher that the man and a woman had argued before the shooting started.
"They were arguing out in front of the restaurant ... he killed the girl," the man says.
A spokeswoman for Jackson Memorial Hospital declined to release any information about the three women being treated there because all had requested privacy. No contact information for one survivor, Yasmine Dominguez, could be found. There was no answer at the Hialeah Gardens mobile home of the third, 55-year-old Mayra Delacaridad.
No working phone number could be found for Molina's relatives in the Miami area. At the Hialeah home of 56-year-old Zaida Castillo, a relative said her family did not want to speak with reporters.
Two other victims, 32-year-old Maysel Figueroa and 47-year-old Lavina Fonseca, lived next door to each other in Hialeah. People inside Fonseca's home refused to answer the door, and a neighbor said Figueroa had lived in her small cottage for only about six months.
Regular customers in the city, which has a large Cuban-American population, gathered in shock outside the restaurant on Monday.
"They are good people," said Valentin Perez, 52, who visits the restaurant for his Cuban coffee every morning.
Octavio Guzman, another customer, said the restaurant workers are always generous with those who can't afford a meal.
"You tell anyone here, 'I'm hungry and I don't have money,' and they give it to you," Guzman said.
I guess the day of fighting like a man have gone by the wayside. Now every clown with a camera wants to make a movie out of the next man and post it online.
Rapper Lil B of The Pack got sucker punched by some no name looking for some attention.
I like seeing a good fight as much as the next person but this was some straight up h*e ish.
Kristen Stewart has been named the most talented young actress in the world.
The 20-year-old actress - who is best known for her role as Bella Swan in the 'Twilight Saga' - topped a poll compiled by DVD rental firm LOVEFiLM to find the best actress under 30, beating 'Brokeback Mountain' star Michelle Williams,29, and 'Alice in Wonderland' newcomer Mia Wasikowska, 20, into second and third place respectively.
Helen Cowley, of LOVEFiLM, said: "It's hugely impressive to see such a young list of actresses making their mark this year.
"Top star Kristen is a shrewd judge of roles, with some clever career choices in recent years, so it'll be interesting to see which direction she goes in."
Kristen rose eight places from last year's number nine to clinch her victory, taking 2009's crown from 'Devil Wears Prada' starlet Anne Hathaway - who fell out of the top ten to number 18 in this year's list.
'An Education' star Carey Mulligan and 'Mamma Mia!' actress Amanda Seyfried came in fourth and fifth places respectively.
Contrary to what Lloyd said about her last year, Ciara has not "gone Hollywood," 'fake,' or 'diva' in Los Angeles. According the "Ride" singer, moving out to Los Angeles is all about business.
"When Lloyd made his public statement about what I was I found it interesting because I hadn’t talk to him so it kind of came out of nowhere for me. [My thing is] if we’ve had the moment to interact with each other and I’ve given that energy that’s one thing, but if we haven’t been around each other and you’re just saying that from nowhere at that time period I didn’t understand that," Ciara told Angela Yee of Shade 45 this week.
"In reference to the Hollywood thing, I find it very interesting how because you live in LA you’re Hollywood. That’s what it seems to be from my perspective and I’m going to be complete honest with you – I’m there to work. At the same time I am in the world of entertainment and that’s one of the places [LA] that’s very helpful for your business," she went on to say. "For me it was a business decision to stay there for the time period that I’m there, but I still own my place in Atlanta and I still own who I am as a person. I’m a southern girl in LA. I’m learning so much because it’s a completely different world."
Ciara is currently working on "Basic Instinct," her fourth studio album, due in stores this summer (2010).
Wesley Snipes is coping "very well" with the prospect of being sent to jail.
The 'Blade' actor - who was sentenced to three years in prison for willful failure to file federal income tax returns in April 2008 but remains free on bail to appeal the conviction - insists he is an "eternal optimist" who doesn't worry about what the future holds.
When asked how he will cope if he does go to prison, he said: "Very well. I have a great spiritual foundation, I am an eternal optimist, and I don't always buy into the illusions.
"I am in the illusion business, so I can decipher what's real and what's not real, and keep stable."
The 47-year-old actor also claimed some of the things that get written about him are "crazy", but he would rather not sue as it costs too much money.
He explained to Britain's FHM magazine: "The things they write about me in the press, events that never happened, it's crazy. But people believe it.
"It wastes too much money. I'd rather buy books."
When the actor was initially condemned by Judge William Terrell Hodges in April 2008, the actor blamed his failure to pay $2.8 million in unreturned tax bills from 1999 to 2001 on a lack of education.
He said: "I am an idealistic, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled in the science of law and finance. I am well-intentioned, but miseducated".
Bo Drain is like most typical 2nd graders in that he likes to play kids games and do most normal things a child his age should. However his way of thinking is anything but normal.
Bo says that all "gays, f*gs and hundreds of jews are going to hell." He has come to believe this because the church he attends, Westboro Baptist Church teaches that because America tolerates homosexuality, abortion and divorce we are doomed.
The church even takes kids to picket funerals for fallen soldiers where they thank God for the troops deaths for defending America.
"Military people mostly do the nastiest stuff," Bo says "And they let their kids be raped and stuff."
This is really terrible, but don't blame the kids, blame the parents. Bo's father Steve Drain is off camera coaching him on what to say.
"Remember what we always say," Steve tells Bo. "No God fearing man or woman would fight for a country awash in sin like this."
Hannah Montana is gone, if there were any doubts all one has to do is take a look at Miley Cyrus' recent actions.
The star that Disney built is kicking open the door to womanhood fast so parents might want to have their younger kids watch her new performances with caution.
The 17 year old star performed her new song "Can't Be Tamed" on the UK's family friendly show Britain's Got Talent.
During the performance one of her male dancers reaches for her breast and she knocks his hand away. Then she pretends to lock lips with a female dancer for a passionate lesbian kiss.
This latest show of the new adult oriented Miley comes on the heels of her appearance last weekend in Lisbon, Portugal where she wore a skimpy, skintight olive-colored leotard plus studded leather jacket and black high-heeled peep toe boots.
Miley may find it a little bit harder to get fans to accept the "new" look because she's been the face of Disney for so long. But that's not stopping her from trying to shed the "innocent" label quickly.
