A submarine with 2 dead bodies & nearly 3 tons of cocaine aboard was seized in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Colombia, the country's navy announced Sunday. 2 survivors "in poor health" were also found on the vessel & given first aid.
"These people's poor health state is presumably due to the inhalation of toxic fumes caused by fuel problems inside the boat," Captain Cristian Andres Guzman Echeverry said.
The 50-foot-long submarine was carrying almost 5,800 pounds of cocaine, worth more than $87 million. The navy said the vessel had been bound for countries in Central America.
The rescued men, the 2 victims & the seized drugs were brought to Tumaco, "where they were presented to the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office."
So-called "narco subs" are commonly used by traffickers in the region to transport drugs. Last year, the Colombian navy seized a semi-submersible vessel carrying 4 tons of cocaine worth about $150 million.
The submarines sometimes make it all the way to North America. In 2019, a submarine carrying 12,000 pounds of cocaine worth more than $165 million was seized by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Tiger Woods claims Erica Herman is no victim of sexual abuse ... saying in new court documents. She's simply "a jilted ex-girlfriend."
Woods filed the docs on Monday in response to Herman saying a non-disclosure agreement she had with the golfer should be declared unenforceable under the federal Speak Out Act, which allows someone to get around an NDA if a dispute involving sexual assault or sexual harassment arises following the agreement.
Woods says Herman has no right to invoke the federal statute ... because she's never alleged in her filings Woods committed any sexual wrongdoing.
Woods says in the $30 million lawsuit she filed -- the one where she alleged Woods booted her from their home & broke an "oral tenancy agreement" they had -- she checked the box for "NO" when asked "does this case involve allegations of sexual abuse."
Woods claims Herman is just using the law as a way to litigate her claims publicly in court & get around the NDA that was supposed to force her disputes to be heard in a private arbitration hearing.
"Ms. Herman's position is utterly meritless," Woods says in the docs ... before adding, "It is a transparent abuse of the judicial process that undermines the purpose of the federal statute & those whom the statute seeks to protect."
Woods is now asking a Florida court to force her to abide by the NDA's arbitration provisions.
Woods split with Herman in October after around 6 years of dating. He claims he told her he was ending things with her & that she was "no longer welcome" in his home.
Herman, meanwhile, alleges Woods concocted a scheme to get her out of the house by promising her a "short vacation." When she got to the airport for the trip, she says Tiger's team told her she'd been "locked out" of the house & could not go back. She said it all violated an agreement they had, which was supposed to last 5 more years.
Woods said in court docs last week no such agreement existed.

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man who was employed as a Wells Fargo bank manager in Harlingen was sentenced for his role in a nearly 2-year-long money laundering scheme.
Stephen Roland Reyna was sentenced Wednesday to 20 months in prison on a charge of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments.
An indictment charges Reyna & co-conspirator David Mares with participating in the laundering scheme from August 2016 to April 2018.
According to the indictment, Mares was a “participant in a narcotics smuggling organization,” & would ship multiple pounds of cocaine from Texas to other states. The money from the deliveries would be deposited into Wells Fargo bank accounts.
Co-conspirators in other states would deposit money from the shipments into the accounts & then the cash would be withdrawn at the bank in Harlingen.
“[Reyna] would direct his employees to authorize withdrawals that involved the proceeds of the sale of the controlled substances for co-conspirators who made the withdrawals,” the indictment stated.
Reyna bypassed bank protocols, as well as instructed his employees to bypass bank protocols. Reyna would then be paid a portion of the cash withdrawals.
As part of his sentencing, Reyna is ordered to serve an additional 16 months of supervised release & must report to probation 72 hours during his release.

“Black Caesar” is the first leak from the forthcoming album "All Praises." Austin states that this is his most personal work to date and that he will be performing material from the project on his forthcoming mid-west tour run supporting Rome Streetz.

ROMAN FOREST, Texas (KTRK) -- A Montgomery County mother accused of abandoning her two young children months ago was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Raven Yates, 31, still needs to go through processing in Alabama before law enforcement brings her back to Montgomery County to face charges. Detectives had been looking for Yates since December.
Yates allegedly left her 12-year-old daughter & 3-year-old son alone at their home.
Investigators added that Yates threatened her daughter that the girl's father would take her & leave her brother alone if she told anyone.
Fearful of what may happen, the 12-year-old would get food by telling her father that Yates was working & he would order food sent to the house. It was not until family members spotted Yates in Mobile, Alabama, where she is from, that they contacted the child's father because the kids were not with her.
Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Yates on Dec. 8, 2022.
Police added that Yates has been actively making posts about the situation, which led to tips & leads in the case on where to find her. When authorities followed a tip to the apartment in Mobile, the manager confirmed Yates was staying there with a man.
"She was photographed in handcuffs with a full smile on her face & seemingly unbothered by the charges against her for allegedly putting her own children in danger," Roman Forest police Chief Stephen Carlisle said. "I don't know if she was playing a part or whatever it is, but she, I think, was playing for the camera. She wanted to have a smile. She wanted to look good. The arresting officer reportedly said she asked about putting lipstick on before the photo was taken."
Now, Yates is waiting to be extradited back to Montgomery County.
