Video After The Jump ALLIANCE, Ohio - A robbery suspect in Alliance got stuck in a garbage truck while hiding from police on Wednesday. Alliance police said officers spotted a suspect leaving the Wal-Mart on State Street through a fire exit with a cart-full of items. The suspect fled on foot when he saw police. Not long after, Alliance dispatchers received a call about a man stuck in a trash truck. The person calling said they were friends were a man who said he was hiding in a Dumpster behind Wal-Mart before it was picked up by a garbage truck. Police said dispatchers were able to track James Michael Brienzo using his cell phone and officers soon caught up with the trash compacting truck. Officers told the driver of the truck what was happening and climbed into the truck, but couldn’t free Brienzo. "There was a recycling place within a few hundred yards. We had the truck pull over there and, by his own request, we dumped the truck and the contents and himself in the parking lot and then several more minutes, we dug through and finally freed him from the rubbish," Lt. William Morris said. Police said the man had been "compacted" several times while inside the truck. Brienzo was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was later taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Police said this incident is still under investigation Source: NewsNet5 twitter-5d.gif
