CHICAGO (AP) — Five alleged gang members have been indicted on murder charges in last year’s shooting death of a Chicago rapper that prosecutors say was part of ongoing violence over gang territories on the city’s South Side.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago said in a news release that the O-Block gang gunned down Carlton Weekly, aka “FBG Duck,” in August 2020 in the Gold Coast neighborhood, & “claimed responsibility for acts of violence in Chicago & used social media & music to increase their criminal enterprise.”

Charged with committing murder in aid of racketeering, assault in the aid of racketeering & various weapons charges are Chicago residents Charles Liggins, 30, aka "C Murda"; Kenneth Roberson, 28, aka "Kenny Mac"; Tacarlos Offerd, 30, aka "Los"; Christopher Thomas, 22, aka "C Thang"; & Marcus Smart, 22, aka "Muwop."

Liggins, Offerd, Thomas & Smart entered pleas of not guilty & the judge ordered that they remain in custody pending detention hearings. Roberson was not in court & the U.S. Attorney’s Office said his initial hearing was not scheduled.

Weekly was standing outside a store on Oak Street in broad daylight when two men climbed from two vehicles, opened fire, then climbed back into the vehicles & drove off. Weekly was killed & a woman & another man were injured. Police said it appeared to be a “targeted” attack on either Weekly or another man nearby. The Chicago Tribune reported that police determined the 26-year-old Weekly may have been targeted because days earlier he had made a video in which he disparaged rival gang members who had died.

Liggins, Offerd, Thomas & Smart were arrested Wednesday morning & Roberson was already in custody in Cook County Jail.

The federal murder count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison and a maximum sentence of the death penalty.

Kenyan police said on Thursday they were asking the husband of distance runner Agnes Tirop, a two-time World Championship bronze medalist who was found dead at her home, to come forward.

Police said on Wednesday that Tirop appeared to have been stabbed in the neck with a knife.

The 25-year-old represented Kenya in the 5,000 metres at the Tokyo Olympics and finished fourth in the finals.

"We are now urging Ibrahim Rotich, husband to the late Kenyan athlete to present himself to the nearest police station or security agency to assist police with their investigations," Tom Makori, sub county police commander for Keiyo North, told Reuters.

"We have not arrested the suspect by Thursday, but we have some information which can lead us for his arrest."

Last month, Tirop smashed the women-only 10km world record in Germany, crossing the line in 30:01 to shave 28 seconds from the previous record held by Morocco's Asmae Leghzaoui from 2002.

In early October, Tirop, finished second in the Giants Geneva 10K race.

She won bronze medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships in the 10,000m, and also won the 2015 World Cross Country Championships.

"Athletics has lost one of its brightest young stars in the most tragic circumstances," World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said in a statement late on Wednesday.

Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta asked on Wednesday for a quick investigation into Tirop's death.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A county in southern Oregon says it is so overwhelmed by an increase in the number and size of illegal marijuana farms that it declared a state of emergency Wednesday, appealing to the governor and the Legislature’s leaders for help.

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners said law enforcement officers and county and state regulators and code enforcers are overwhelmed and warned of an “imminent threat to the public health and safety of our citizens from the illegal production of cannabis in our county.”

Illegal marijuana grows have been a persistent problem throughout the West, even in states like California that have legalized pot. A megadrought across the West has created urgency, though, as illegal growers steal water, depriving legal users including farmers and homeowners of the increasingly precious resource.

“Jackson County strongly requests your assistance to address this emergency,” the commissioners said in a letter to Gov. Kate Brown, Senate President Peter Courtney and House Speaker Tina Kotek.

Only four Oregon Water Resources Department full-time employees handle complaints and perform all of their other duties in Jackson County and neighboring Josephine County, the commissioners said.

Josephine County has also been hurt by illegal grows that have drained creeks and siphoned off groundwater. Josephine County Sheriff Dave Daniel believes there are hundreds of illegal operations in his county alone. One with 72,000 marijuana plants that was drawing water from the Illinois River was raided after a dying person who worked there was dropped off in a nearby village.

Oregon voters made producing, processing, selling and using recreational marijuana legal in a ballot measure in 2014. Pot businesses must be registered by the state, which enforces compliance with rules. But some growers and processers remain outside the law, joined by a recent influx of outsiders in Jackson and Josephine counties who seek large profits by selling on the black market outside of Oregon while avoiding state taxes and regulations.

The illegal marijuana farms are often posing as legal hemp farms, the commissioners noted. The Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission recently reported that nearly 50% of registered hemp farms inspected in the state are illegally growing marijuana, with a THC content — the compound that gives cannabis its high — greater than legal limits.

About 25% of registered hemp farms refused entry to inspectors, the state agencies said. In busts of illegal marijuana grows, sheriff’s deputies have often seized firearms.

Too Short is circling back to apologize for a convo he had with Saweetie that made a lot of people accuse him of being a colorist, and in addition ... he's adding context to his remarks.

The Bay Area hip-hop icon tells TMZ ... he's sorry if he offended anyone with his words from 2020 during an IG Live chat between Saweetie and himself -- noting it wasn't his intention to come off favoring lighter-skinned Black people over darker-skinned folks.

You'll recall ... Short Dog told Saweetie he loved interracial relationships, and had actually only fallen in love with mixed women. He didn't say he wasn't into non-mixed Black women, per se, but many made that leap ... and claimed his remark was anti-Black.

Well, TS is here to set the record straight ... further explaining what he was touching on in his OG comments -- namely, that the Bay Area is very diverse and that race simply isn't at the forefront of many folks' minds there ... be it for hate, division or anything else.

There's another point from his Saweetie talk that he clears up with us as well ... saying beauty -- and ugliness, for that matter -- is found in ALL walks of life, regardless of skin tone or shade.

Important to say, because initially ... it sounded like he was implying only mixed babies come out looking gorgeous -- as opposed to, perhaps, Black infants or any other race of babies. That's not the case, though, as Too Short says here in clear terms.

Bottom line ... the dude says he loves everything about his Black heritage. All of it.

The UFC has released fighter Luis Pena following two arrests related to domestic violence since June.

In a statement provided to ESPN through a spokesperson, the UFC said it is aware of the "disturbing allegations" regarding Pena's arrest Saturday on two charges of battery & thinks that Pena's personal & legal issues should be his focus before he competes again.

"At this time, UFC believes Mr. Pena needs to deal with the health & legal issues in front of him & consequently has informed Mr. Pena's management that his promotional agreement has been terminated," the statement read.

The statement added that Pena "has been open about his struggles with mental health & substance abuse issues" & the UFC has "on multiple occasions attempted to help him get professional treatment."

Pena, 28, was arrested Saturday on charges of battery causing bodily harm & battery domestic violence, both misdemeanors, according to a Broward County (Florida) Sheriff's Office spokesperson. He was released on $6,000 bond on Monday.

Pena also was arrested in June on domestic violence-related charges. Following that arrest, sources said the UFC went as far as to advance Pena a sum of money in the five figures to help him get treatment.

In his latest arrest over the weekend, Pena is being accused of striking his girlfriend in the face multiple times with a closed fist & continuing to hit her while she was on the ground. Pena also allegedly struck another woman who attempted to intervene in the left eye with a closed fist.

"This was a bad case," UFC president Dana White said Tuesday. "We knew that he had problems before that we were trying to help him with. And this is a pretty nasty one. I don't know if you guys read the police report, but yeah. This one had to happen."

Pena is 9-3 as a pro MMA fighter with a 5-3 UFC record.

FBG Duck's mom, LaSheena Weekly, has been grieving the death of her son and hoping the police would capture his killers. In a video posted on YouTube Wednesday, October 13, she said the FBI had arrested 5 people in connection with FBG's death. A sixth person that was allegedly involved committed suicide, according to Weekly.

Duck, whose real name is Carlton Weekly, was 26, when he was gunned down on a Chicago street while out shopping on August 4, 2020.

A California mom hosted depraved secret parties where she handed teens booze and condoms & even watched while they engaged in sex acts.

Shannon O’Connor watched & laughed in a bedroom while a drunk teenage boy mounted & groped a girl who was a friend of the woman’s then-15-year-old son.

The 47-year-old mom kept the parties secret from other parents and even her husband while 14- & 15-year-old kids got so drunk, they “would vomit, be unable to stand & fall unconscious,” prosecutors said.

O’Connor, also known as Shannon Bruga, was booked in Idaho, where she now lives. Prosecutors plan to extradite her to the Golden State to face a laundry list of 39 criminal counts.

During an eight-month period from 2020 to earlier this year, O’Connor allegedly hosted several parties for her son & friends & pressured those in attendance to keep the debauchery a secret.

“She stated if anyone was told she could go to jail,” the statement of facts said. One 14-year-old girl who spoke about the parties was threatened with retaliation that would include people spreading rumors about her.

At one party, she handed a boy a condom & pushed him into a room where a drunk 14-year-old girl was lying on a bed.

“[The girl] was afraid, ran & locked herself in the bathroom,” the statement said.

At another party, O’Connor escorted a boy into a room with a drunk girl, then left. The girl was allegedly assaulted. The girl later confronted O’Connor for leaving her alone in an extremely drunken state.

“Like why did you like, do that?” the girl allegedly said. “Like, you knew what he was going to do to me.”

Hitman Holla has asked his fans to send positive vibes to him and his girlfriend after he revealed that she was shot in the face by burglars who broke into their home.

On Tuesday (Oct. 12), the “Wild ‘N Out” star took to Instagram to share that four thieves entered his home while he was out of town. Cinnamon, the rapper's girlfriend, was in the residence at the time of the burglary and was shot in the face while trying to defend their property. “Imagine being on FaceTime while ya girl while being outta town & shes telling u it’s ppl in the house at 1 in the morning so coaching her on what to do 1000 miles away,” he captioned the post.

“She showed courage & let off shots defending her home,” Hitman added. “I’m so proud of how she was so brave .. I can’t stop crying man plz send positive energy our way I need it y’all I really really need it I’ve never felt this kinda pain this message was for my fans family and friends all at once plz help us get through this.”

Several people took to the battle rapper’s Instagram comment section to send their prayers to the couple, including several of his “Wild ‘N Out” co-stars. B.
