AP - A Louisiana State Police trooper has been suspended without pay for kicking & dragging a handcuffed Black man whose in-custody death remains unexplained & the subject of a federal civil rights investigation.
Body camera footage shows Master Trooper Kory York dragging Ronald Greene “on his stomach by the leg shackles” following a violent arrest and high-speed pursuit, according to internal State Police records obtained by The Associated Press.
The records are the first public acknowledgement by State Police that Greene was mistreated & they confirm details provided last year by an attorney for Greene’s family who viewed graphic body camera footage of the May 2019 arrest & likened it the police killing of George Floyd. The video shows troopers choking & beating the man, repeatedly jolting him with stun guns & dragging him face-down across the pavement, the attorney told AP.
State Police have repeatedly refused to publicly release the body camera footage. The agency has been tight lipped about Greene’s death & initially blamed the man’s fatal injuries on a car crash outside Monroe, La.
York, who turned his own body camera off on his way to the scene, was suspended without pay for 50 hours following an internal investigation that also led to the termination of another trooper, Chris Hollingsworth, who died in a single-car crash after learning he had been fired over his role in the incident. The AP last year published a 27-second audio clip from Hollingsworth’s body camera in which he can be heard telling a colleague, “I beat the ever-living f--- out of” Greene before he “all of a sudden he just went limp.”
Greene’s family has renewed calls for the release of bodycam video.

An attorney is pursuing criminal investigations in at least two states into allegations of sexual abuse & assault that he said his clients have made against rapper T.I. & Tameka “Tiny” Harris, who have repeatedly denied the claims.
The push comes weeks after the accusations arose against the rapper & his wife, & lawyer Tyrone A. Blackburn told The New York Times that he has approached law enforcement authorities on behalf of 11 people who claim to have been victimized by the couple or members of their entourage.
In a news release obtained by People magazine, Blackburn also stated that he has been contacted in recent weeks by more than 30 “women, survivors & witnesses” who alleged “forced drugging, kidnapping, rape & intimidation.”
The allegations span more than 15 years & are “eerily consistent,” the release stated.
The specific allegations include individuals who claim having been “coerced by Tiny to ingest drugs” or being “unknowingly administered drugs to impair the victims’ ability to consent to “sexual acts,” People reported.
According to the magazine, Blackburn has sent letters to officials in Georgia & California, requesting investigations be opened “under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) & Georgia’s Rape, Kidnapping, RICO & Terroristic Threats Statutes.”
Meanwhile, 4 women told The New York Times that they were drugged or sexually assaulted by 40-year-old T.I., 45-year-old Tiny Harris or others “in their orbit.”
An attorney for the couple told the Times that both T.I. & Tiny Harris “deny in the strongest possible terms these baseless & unjustified allegations” & called the allegations “nothing more than the continuation of a sordid shakedown campaign that began on social media & now attempts to manipulate the press & misuse the justice system.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — It won’t be a dog’s life for a Tennessee canine whose owner recently died.
Lulu, an 8-year-old border collie, will be living the good life in Nashville after inheriting $5 million in her owner’s will, WTVF-TV reported.
Martha Burton, Lulu’s caretaker, told the station Lulu’s owner, Bill Dorris, was a successful businessman who wasn’t married and died late last year. His will states the money should be put into a trust for Lulu’s care. It allows for Burton to be reimbursed for reasonable monthly expenses in the care of Lulu.
“He just really loved the dog,” said Burton, who was friends with Dorris and would take care of the dog when he traveled.
She says she doesn’t know if she could ever spend $5 million on Lulu.
“Well, I’d like to try,” she said with a smile.
Dorris owned land along Interstate 65 where a controversial statue of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest is located. The fate of the statue & the rest of the estate may be determined in probate court.

Backwoods bravado, patriot's pride, country soul, keg-thumping beats — these are the qualities that Moonshine Bandits have championed since they began their journey.
Armed with a hybrid arsenal of country and hip-hop fusion, the California duo of Dusty "Tex" Dahlgren and Brett "Bird" Brooks are always gritty and grass roots. The pair just released the video for its latest single, "Live the Madness," featuring iconic Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. It's a good time, all the time.
"The concept behind 'Live the Madness' is to live your life full throttle," the band tells Loudwire. "Always be willing to take that risk and challenge yourself. Celebrate life to its fullest extent. We wanted this song to have an energy that encourages people that it's ok to go out and raise a little hell."
Since their formation in Los Banos, California in 2003, Moonshine Bandits have continued a campaign of crossover, genre-bending musical mayhem that appeals to the eclectic, color-outside-the-lines tastes of listeners, aka The Shiners, and they fiercely refuse to have their tastes confined and filed into categories. "Our musical style has always been full throttle and in your face," says Tex. Just like the rumrunners, bootleggers, smugglers, and outlaws of old, the Moonshine Bandits provide a supply of the goods for the demand, defying the mandates and trends of mainstream pop culture.

Max Holloway says a rematch with Conor McGregor was a real possibility just 1 month ago ... but after The Notorious took an L from Dustin Poirier, he's shifted his focus away from the Irish star.
"[Holloway vs. McGregor] was on a very short list for UFC if everything went well in [Conor's] last fight & it didn't," the 29-year-old Hawaiian told TMZ Sports in L.A.
"And I don't wanna kick a dog when it's down. At the end of the day, we'll see what happens."
McGregor defeated Holloway in a 3 round unanimous decision when they first clashed back in 2013 -- but Max has developed into one of the best fighters in the UFC & currently seems to be at the height of his powers.
He's coming off a DOMINANT victory over respect UFC feather Calvin Kattar in January where Max set a record for most significant strikes landed in a fight with 445!!!
McGregor, on the other hand, seems to be a shell of when he used to be. He's coming off a 2nd round knockout at the hands of Dustin Poirier.
Max & Conor seem to be on 2 different trajectories & Holloway seems to be more focused on fighting for a title than settling an old score.
So, who's next for Max? Most likely the winner of the Brian Ortega vs. Alex Volkanovski fight at UFC 260.
Volkanovski is the reigning featherweight champ & has already chalked up 2 victories over Holloway in the past few years.
Guessing Holloway wants a 3rd crack at Alex -- considering he already beat down Brian Ortega in 2018.
Bottom line ... we're down to watch Holloway fight any of these guys. Dude is unreal.

Vanessa Bryant says that Evan Rachel Wood calling her late husband Kobe Bryant a "rapist" the day he died is "vile" & "disturbing."
Hours after Kobe’s death on Jan. 26, 2020, the "Westworld" actress, 33, tweeted, "What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe’s family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously."
Vanessa, 38, posted on Saturday to her Instagram Story that the tweet was just coming to her attention over a year later.
"Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile & disturbing to say the least," the NBA player’s widow wrote over a screenshot of the original tweet. "Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty."
"YOU DON’T KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE," she added. Vanessa sent the same message to film producer Abigail Disney, who tweeted at the time, "The man was a rapist. Deal with it."
Kobe was accused of sexual assault in 2003 by a 19-year-old hotel employee in Colorado. Prosecutors dropped the charges after the accuser declined to testify. She later brought a civil case against the Los Angeles Laker, which was settled out of court in 2005.
JANGEBE, Nigeria (AP) — Families in Nigeria waited anxiously for news of their abducted daughters after more than 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped by gunmen from a government school in the country’s north last week, the latest in a series of mass school kidnappings in the West African nation.
Worried parents on Sunday gathered at the school, guarded by police. Aliyu Ladan Jangebe said his 5 daughters aged between 12 & 16 were at the school when the kidnappers stormed in. 4 were taken away but 1 escaped by hiding in a bathroom with three other girls.
“We are not in (a) good mood because when you have 5 children & you are able to secure (just) 1. We only thank God ... But we are not happy,” said Jangebe.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said the government’s priority is to get all the hostages returned safe & unharmed. Police & the military have begun joint operations to rescue the girls.
The girls’ abduction has caused international outrage.
Pope Francis decried the kidnapping & prayed for the girls’ quick release on Sunday.
“I pray for these girls, so that they may return home soon ... I am close to their families & to them,″ Francis said.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the abductions & called for the girls’ “immediate & unconditional release.” He called attacks on schools a grave violation of human rights & the rights of children.
Nigeria has seen several such attacks in recent years. On Saturday, 24 students, 6 staff & 8 relatives were released after being abducted on February 17 from the Government Science College Kagara in Niger state. In December, more than 300 schoolboys from a secondary school in Kankara were taken & later released.
The most notorious kidnapping was in April 2014, when 276 girls were abducted by the jihadist rebels of Boko Haram from the secondary school in Chibok in Borno state. More than 100 of those girls are still missing.
