Jay-Z (413)

Beanie Sigel never ran, never will.

Flashback to 2001, Brooklyn's Jay-Z and Queen's Nas are embroiled in a legendary rap beef. Nas let off the shot heard round the world with "Ether", but the battle between Hov and Nas was far from over.  It got even more personal as Jigga would claim that he had slept with Nas' baby's mom.

They continued to beef well into 2002. By that time the boroughs had chosen sides, QB was firmly behind Nas just as BK was for Jigga.

Either assuming he would be ok in Queens, or just not giving a f*ck, Beanie Sigel and Young Chris of the Young Gunz decided to perform at a club in Queens.

In the eyes of some in the Queens crowd though, being that Beans and Chris were signed to Roc-A-Fella Records at the time, they were seen as the enemy.

As Beanie & Chris perform someone throws something at them, prompting Beanie to throw his mic into the crowd.

While not everything was caught on tape. There's enough footage to show that both Beanie and Chris were lucky to get out of there alive that night.

Reportedly someone was shout outside of the venue and later died.

Roc Nation rapper was a huge fan of singer/actress Aaliyah when he was younger.  He recalls being so devastated by her death that he wanted to make a beat in her honor.

"I had such a crush on Aaliyah... It was like a little boy crush but it was a true crush." he says.  "And when she died I remember I called my mentor up like, 'Yo you think it would be corny if I made a beat and I called it Aaliyah?'  That was my way of paying respect in my own little world."

Aaliyah died at age 22 in a plane crash August 25, 2001, but thanks to her great music and fans like J Cole she will never be forgotten.

Things haven't exactly been going Beanie Sigel's way as of late.

The former Roc-A-Fella spitta reportedly is in trouble with the IRS and he still hasn't patched things up with his former boss Jay-Z.

But a recent interview 804 ENT Beans is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Beanie looked like he might have been full of that liquor, so it could have been the drink talking, but the Broad Street Bully said he would like to hook up with Fat Joe and Officer Ross to remake a Fat Boys album.

He also said he wouldn't mind signing to Cash Money Records.

What do you guys think of Beanie's latest comments?

Video After The Jump

Saigon is one of those rappers everybody knows is nice. What a lot of people can’t figure out is why he’s never blown, especially with the backing of producers like Just Blaze and Statik Selektah.

No doubt his stint on the HBO show Entourage has been a good look for The Yardfather, but what hip hop fans really want is ‘The Greatest Story Never Told’ album.

Sai chopped it up with Urban Daily to talk about his acting career, Jay-Z jacking his beats and why he left Atlantic Records.

UD: How Bad Were The Groupies On The Set Of Entourage?

Sai: There’s a million Entourage stories man. There’s girls that would camp out around the trailer. ‘I just wanna meet Vince’, they really call him Vince - they don’t call him Adrien [Grenier]. One woman wanted to meet Turtle. I was a little closer to turtle. So I told her, I guess we could find a way for you to meet Turtle. All you gotta do is come hang out for a little while, tell some jokes, make us laugh and you know, we’ll bring Jerry [Ferrara] in here, or Turtle.

UD: How Many Beats Did Jay-Z Steal From You?

Sai: Jay-Z was jacking for beats baby. When we were working in Baseline [Studios] we were all like a close family. And Jay would come around, pop up every now and then. You know me and Just [Blaze] was in there working hard and Just would give me a gang of beats at a time. And every now and then one of them would come up missing. One that I was probably writing to or something that I really loved. Then the next thing you know, they would have this big meeting. And they would go, ‘yo Sai we need to talk to you. You know that beat we had, the one you was loving? Big homie got that now.’ You know big homie was Jay-Z, he did that to me about three or four times.

UD: What Beats Did He Take?

Sai: Kingdom Come is mine, actually two didn’t make his album. And Come On Baby - he took it, did his thing to it then gave it back because he didn’t want to use it, so he gave it back to me. But he was like ‘you can keep the verse that I laid on it.’ That was a big homie move because you can’t buy a Jay-Z beat. You can’t go to Jay-Z and say hey we got $100,000 for you to get on a record. He wipes his ass with $100,000 dollars. That’s why he said in that line “you wanna be in the public send your budget”. That means your whole recording budget. There’s no more money for producers, studio time, nothing.

UD: When Did You Finally Get Off Atlantic Records?

Sai: I got off Atlantic Records March 10, 2010. All these years I’ve just been sitting around. I was still on Atlantic Records this whole time technically. They wasn’t putting my music out but I was still contractually bound to them until March 10 of this year.

Sai’s long awaited album ‘The Greatest Story Never Told’ drops in 2011.

Poll After The Jump Nicki Minaj is the toast of hip hop, and now even the pop world as Rolling Stone has given her the title of the "Queen Of Hip Hop" in it's upcoming issue Nicki deserves all the credit she's getting right now. Her debut album 'Pink Friday' is expected to sell over 400,000 units its first week out. She's gotten co-signs from almost every major rapper out there from Joe Budden to Kanye West. But does she deserve the title of "queen" after only one album?. Let's look at some other female rappers who should also be considered for that title. Foxy Brown Years In The Game : 15 Solo Albums : 4 (2 certified platinum, 1 certified gold) Group Albums: 1 "The Firm" Album With Nas, AZ & Nature - (certified gold) Missy Elliot Years In The Game - 19 Solo Albums : 6 (1 certified double platinum. 4 certified platinum, And 1 gold) Group Albums: 1 with the group Swing Mob early in her career, that was never released Lil Kim Years In The Game: 16 Solo Albums: 4 (1 certified double platinum, 2 certified platinum) Group Albums 1 Junior M.A.F.I.A album (certified platinum) Eve Years In The Game: 16 Solo Albums: 3 (1 certified double platinum, 1 certified platinum, 1 certified gold) Group Albums: Eve appeared on 3 Ruff Ryders complilation albums Lauryn Hill Years In The Game 19 Solo Albums: 2 (1 certified 8x platinum, 1 certified platinum) Group Albums: 2 (1 Certified 6x platinum) After taking a look at the careers of Foxy Brown, Eve, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim and Lauryn Hill, it would seem Nicki Minaj has some stiff competition for the title of "Queen Of Hip Hop" Which one of these ladies would you give that title to?

Video After The Jump Probably the greatest debate among hip hop heads is who the greatest mc of all time is. If you polled 100 people I would bet 90% of them could name a greatest rapper in their mind. One rapper who would definitely get top 5 dead or alive consideration is Nas. He feels like rap hasn't been around long enough to definitively name one the greatest. "Somebody asked me who was the greatest mc of all time. And I think it's too premature, it doesn't make any sense," Nas said. "Like when you ask most singers who do they like, who were they inspired by. They might not say Usher, they might not say Trey Songz, they might not say Justin Timberlake. They might say Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder because they had the opportunity to look at these guys' whole body of work. And even if I say [LL] Cool J was the greatest of all time, no doubt he's the greatest. But when you put that title on yourself, it's almost like burying yourself." What Nas says makes sense in a way, but I think based on what we have seen throughout rap's history, it's possible to choose a rapper who is the greatest of all time. At least until now. What do you guys think? Do you have a # 1 above all choice? If so, who is it?

Videos After The Jump The Hottest MC's In The Game list, voted on by MTV is completed. Was there ever any doubt as to who would be number one? Coming in at # 1 is Eminem Eminem has dominated hip hop this year. His 'Recovery' album shot out the gate, selling 741,000 copies it's first week out, and is almost at 3 million copies sold in the U.S. alone. At one point the album had an incredible 7 songs on Billboards Hot 100 Singles chart. With "25 To Life" # 92, "Talkin To Myself" # 88, "Cold Wind Blows" # 71, "Won't Back Down" # 62, "No Love" # 23, "Not Afraid" # 11 and "Love The Way You Lie" at # 2. The Rihanna assisted "Love The Way You Lie" has dominated pop radio, spending four weeks in Billboards top slot. Eminem also participated in what some have called the greatest hip hop concerts in history when he and Jay-Z paired up for the Home and Home shows at Detroit's Comerica Park and New York's Yankee Stadium. The concerts featured guests 50 Cent, Dr Dre, D12, Trick Trick, Young Jeezy, Drake, Memphis Bleek as well as B.o.B., Kanye West and Beyonce. Proving that rap artists cauld sell out stadiums. Coming in at # 2 is Jay-Z Jigga simply shows no signs of slowing down. The Brooklyn rapper didn't have an album out in 2010, but he rode the success of 2009's 'Blueprint 3', selling out concerts worldwide. He is regularly headlining shows that have traditionally been the sole territory of rock acts. In November Hov is slated to open for U2 for the Australia and New Zealand legs on their 360 tour. Add to that the success of the Home and Home concerts with Eminem, and it's easy to see why Jigga got the # 2 slot. Coming in at # 3 is Kanye West. West has really enjoyed a stellar 2010. In what has been a big comeback year for the Chicago rapper, following a 2009 that saw a lot of the media and some fans turn their backs on him after the Taylor Swift VMA incident. While he doesn't have a chart topping song at the moment, Kanye has put out a number of fantastic joints via his G.O.O.D Friday campaign. He's also released two groundbreaking videos with "Power" and the short film "Runaway." Add to that his great live performances at the BET Awards and Saturday Night Live. West has proven why he is amongst the elite the game has to offer. With a new album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' about to drop next month, 2010 will only get better for the Louis Vuitton Don. Coming in at # 4 is Drake Young Money has been very well represented on the Hottest MC's list this time around. Drake is the third emcee from the camp to make the list, following Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. His debut album 'Thank Me Later' debuted at # 1 with 447,000 copies sold, and is closing in on platinum status. Three songs from the disc, "Over", "Miss Me" and "Find Your Love" have achieved top 15 recognition on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The sky seems to be the limit for Drake as an artist. He is able to pull off the rare feat of making both R&B and Hip Hop joints, while keeping both audiences satisfied. Coming in at # 5 is Officer Rick Ross. Congrats to all the artists who made the list. twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump They say old grudges never really die. That seems to be true in the case of Dipset and their old label mates at Roc-A-Fella Records, Kanye West and Jay-Z. Killa Cam and Jim Jones released a twitvideo of a track they're working on. There's only a couple of snippets, but you can hear exactly who they are aiming at as Cam'ron spits over Kanye's new track "Runaway". Drake and J.Cole are two of the hottest young rappers in the game. Drake has already dropped a platinum album, while Cole is gearing up for his Roc Nation debut. Fans are already talking about who would win a potential lyrical battle on wax between the two. It's something Cole has contemplated himself. He recently talked to Vibe and gave his thoughts on the possibility. "From a fan’s point of view, who are you going to get excited about [to] battle? I feel like that’s why people push the J.Cole/Drake thing so much, ‘cause I think we’re probably the first two artists that fans are super excited about. The two that they would like to see go at it. I don’t blame ‘em. But it’s just a sign of the times. Rap goes in cycles. I’m not promoting that, but I’m a competitive person in general, so I’m a fan of people throwing jabs and shots. That motivates me," Cole said. What do you guys think? Who would come out on top if these two went at it?

Video After The Jump While Lady Gaga has worked with everyone from RedOne and Akon to Teddy Riley and Rodney Jerkins, she sticks to a pretty tight-knit group of collaborators when it comes to her albums, including the forthcoming Born This Way. But that doesn't mean singer/songwriter Ne-Yo hasn't been trying to get in the studio with the "Bad Romance" songstress. "We've been talking to Gaga's people about some stuff," he said. "Gaga's very difficult to get a hold of as of late, for obvious reasons. She's very busy. We've been talking to her people about doing some stuff." Ne-Yo is best known for working with artists like Rihanna and Beyoncé and crafting pop-influenced R&B tunes. So how would he apply his hitmaking formula to the dance queen's music? "I have no idea! That's kind of the intriguing thing that I have no idea what that song would sound like," he said. "Like, would I jump into her world? Would I pull her into mine? I don't know, but I feel like it would be interesting to see. Maybe we should get a camera crew over when that happens." While a Gaga collabo isn't a sure thing, Ne-Yo has confirmed that he's working with Beyoncé on her next album. "The thing about working with Beyoncé is that she definitely has her own agenda," the "Irreplaceable" songwriter said. "She's an artist that knows exactly what she wants to do. "She's going to give you directions [like] 'Here's where I'm going, so here's where I need you to be,' " Ne-Yo explained. "And, you know, I'm a person that follows direction well. [And she'll be like], 'So this is the sound, this is the vibe; make it happen.' And I write and she likes it or she doesn't. And in this case she did, and there you have it." Source: MTV
