Beef (166)

Common and Drake might have been involved in the most over hyped "beef" in hip hop history. Sure there were a couple of shots fired, but fans didn't get the chance to see who was the better MC because things were squashed almost as soon as they started.

Check out the two rappers hanging out together at this past weekend's NBA All-Star festivities in Orlando, Florida.

Video After The Jump

Lil Kim was a guest on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" Wednesday (February 15) and the Queen Bee had quite a lot to say about her arch nemesis Nicki Minaj.

When asked who she thought was the most overrated artist at this moment, Kim didn't say Nicki's name directly but made sure you knew who she was referring to by doing an impersonation of the "In Living Color" character Fire Marshall Bill.

Kim also had disparaging remarks to say about Nicki's song "Stupid Hoe," a track that a lot of people perceived as a Kim diss.

"I'm pretty sure I feel the same was everybody else feels right about now," Kim said. "If you have to make a song called 'Stupid Hoe' you must be the stupid hoe."

French Montana hit up the Hot 97 show today to chop it up with Angie Martinez. He talked about the upcoming NY Giants "Shot Caller" remix, turning down a deal with G.O.O.D Music to sign with Bad Boy, meeting Rihanna and his appearance on the record "Stay Schemin" that took the Drake vs. Common beef up a notch.

Angie asked French about Drake's verse on "Stay Schemin" getting at Common and the Chicago rapper's immediate reply.

"With them you gotta look at it like it's hip hop, it's competition, it's good for the music," French said. "I think Drake wanna fight. He said he can't wait to run into him."

Audio After The Jump

"I heard you say you aint a b*tch 'cause you sing/You a b*tch 'cause you cling like a b*tch that's 18" - Common "Stay Schemin" remix

As we previously reported, Drake and Common are beefing and it looks like Com is not even playing around as he fires off on Drake on the remix to "Stay Schemin." It's a direct reply to Drizzy's verse on the song.

“I just ask that when you see me, you speak up n*gga that’s all/Don’t be ducking like you never wanted nothing,” Drake raps on the track. “It’s feeling like rap changed, it was a time it was rugged/Back when if a n*gga reached it was for the weapon, nowadays n*ggas reach just to sell their record.

There was immediate speculation that the verse was directed at Common, who previously dissed Drake on the song "Sweet"

He [Drake] opened his mouth and said some things, so if that’s what he want, all that subliminal [talk]…you could do that too, but say it now,” Common told Sway of MTV News and Shade 45's "Sway in the Morning" back in December when asked if "Sweet" was directed at Drake. “The verse is about me but when you hear some of the stuff on the chorus it’s like you can’t help but think about dude and I guess that’s what he felt. So at the end of day he fits in that category, he already embraced it, so wear it.”

The battle is in full swing now. Check out Common's new diss below.

In the upcoming December/January issue of Vibe, rapper T.I. had a few things he wanted to address. One of them being his September 2010 arrest in Los Angeles for possession of ecstacy which violated his probation and led to an 11-month stint in an Arkansas federal prison.

Tip's wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, was also arrested during the traffic stop, but charges against her were eventually dropped.

When news first broke of the couple's arrest, G-Unit boss 50 Cent jokingly suggested on Twitter that Tiny should take the charge given T.I.'s legal situation.

"Tiny gotta take that charge," 50 wrote. "Say it was yours baby."

12349092495?profile=original

Tip responds to 50's remarks during his interview with Vibe.

Vibe: T.I. on people criticizing Tiny for not taking the drug charge

I’ma tell you, 50 Cent and anybody else, we not gonn’a have no discussion about what my ole lady should’a, would’a, couda done for anything as it pertains to me,” begins his rant. “We ain’t gonn’a do that. I’m the only one in my family that’s gonna take a lick when it pertains to the legal system. Since me, none of my other family members have seen a jail cell. Nobody. I’m the last one. The buck stops here. I feel that a person that stands behind [his woman for a criminal charge] is a coward anyway.”

I doubt she would have gotten any time.
T.I.: She wasn’t gonna catch it period, ’cause I’m there. That wasn’t even a consideration. Even if she asked me to I would’ve been like, “Nah, you trippin’.

So you didn’t feel you were more valuable to your family, employees and business partners on the street?
That’s a discussion between me and another man. Not with the mother of my children. Not with the nurturer of my household.

What do you think of Tip's comments? Is he taking shots or just speaking his mind? Sound off in the comment section below.

Beanie Sigel was once a key a key member of Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella team. The Philadelphia rapper and his State Property family helped Hov build a dynasty. But when that dynasty crumbled so did his relationship Jay-Z.

Starting in October 2009, Beans began airing Hov out on a several diss tracks. He released "Kill A Jigga Man", "What You Talkin Bout (Average Cat)" and "I Go Off", but Jay never responded.

Today (May 31) Beanie issued an apology to the man he dissed so viciously.

What Mike Epps say? ‘Gangstas f*ck up too,’” Sigel told XXLMag.com. “Whatever I felt this dude Jay did wrong to me, it can’t outweigh the one thing he did do for me – he gave me an opportunity. Dude gave me an opportunity. A lot of people don’t get opportunities. He gave me that. That outweighs everything. I need that in black and white. I got caught in the moment and put my feelings out there. I should have never done that.”

Whether or not his relationship with Jay can be fixed is anybody's guess, but the Broad Street Bully says it could have gotten worse. He told XXL he has an album's worth of disses going at Hov's head, but he won't release them now.

I was explaining the whole Roc-A-Fella sh*t and a lot of feelings were going to get hurt,” he said. “I was airing sh*t out. Just the homies could listen to that when they come into the studio. I couldn’t put that out. It wouldn’t sit right with me.

Next up for Beans is a mixtape and album with DJ Green Lantern.

What do you make of Beanie's apology? Do you think Jay-Z will ever forgive him and work with him again?

The Lil Kim vs Nicki Minaj beef has been cooking for months with no end in sight. Both ladies have taken shots at each other on wax and Twitter. Who's winning the war would depend on who you ask, but there's at least one person who would like to see the feud end.

While out in the UK for the Gumball 3000 road rally, Philadelphia rapper Eve spoke with BBC Radio 1xtra host Tim Westwood about the beef and the need for more females in the game.

You know, it's definitely a nice group of females that's out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop," said Eve. "Nicki definitely is holding the flag down, and a lot of people be wanting me to hate just because that's how girls supposed to do in hip-hop, but I'm loving everything she does. But we need more females, man. There's too much testosterone in the hip-hop game."

When asked directly about the situation currently going on between Kim and Nicki, Eve had this to say.

I need her to stop. If I was Kim's friend, I'd be like, yo. ‘cause she's Kim, period. So she never has to feed [into the beef]. She shouldn't. It's bad. It's not a good look," she said. "If I was her friend, I'd tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you've ever done you. So that's it.”

After a long hiatus Eve has been making her presence felt recently with guest appearances with Ludacris, Alicia Keys and frequent collaborator Swizz Beatz.

It's expected that she will be releasing her fourth solo album 'Lip Lock' sometime this year.

Information from MTV was used in this article.

Video After The Jump

Sh*t just got real.

For the last year or so Mobb Deep affiliate 40 Glocc has been embroiled in a war of words with a rapper named Menace from BWS. Things finally came to a head last night in Los Angeles when the two ended up at the same event.

Menace had requested the two fight a fair one, but as the footage will show that's not what happened.

Although the video is dark and hard to make out in some spots, you can clearly see 40 being jumped by a bunch of bloods. Since when does a fair one mean all your homies jump in with you?

After the melee 40 took to his twitter account to talk about what happened. He also posted a couple of pics of himself showing he had no marks on his face.

"LOOK AT ME AFTER 30 WEENIES JUMP ME LOL TELL THEM TO TAKE A PC THIS CLOSE!!  THAT WASN'T NO MENISHA FIGHT THAT WAS 30 B*TCHES ON 1 CRIP..LOL! N*GGAZ AINT BUILT FOR N*GGAZ OF MY BREED u can't get this juice cuz!" 40 wrote. "I GET DOWN WHERE I GET MAD AT..ni*ga REQUESTED THAT HEAD UP..LOL I GAVE IT & 30 N*GGAZ JUMP IN & I WAS SOLO!..I EXPECT THAT THEY'LL REGRET THAT."

12348870099?profile=originalPic of 40 Glocc taken right after he was jumped.

Meanwhile Menace was on twitter bragging that he busted 40 up, which is clearly not true based on the pictures and video.

Take a look at the video below and weigh in with your opinions.

Beanie Sigel never ran, never will.

Flashback to 2001, Brooklyn's Jay-Z and Queen's Nas are embroiled in a legendary rap beef. Nas let off the shot heard round the world with "Ether", but the battle between Hov and Nas was far from over.  It got even more personal as Jigga would claim that he had slept with Nas' baby's mom.

They continued to beef well into 2002. By that time the boroughs had chosen sides, QB was firmly behind Nas just as BK was for Jigga.

Either assuming he would be ok in Queens, or just not giving a f*ck, Beanie Sigel and Young Chris of the Young Gunz decided to perform at a club in Queens.

In the eyes of some in the Queens crowd though, being that Beans and Chris were signed to Roc-A-Fella Records at the time, they were seen as the enemy.

As Beanie & Chris perform someone throws something at them, prompting Beanie to throw his mic into the crowd.

While not everything was caught on tape. There's enough footage to show that both Beanie and Chris were lucky to get out of there alive that night.

Reportedly someone was shout outside of the venue and later died.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- A task force made up of local and federal law enforcement agencies is actively pursuing leads into the 1997 slaying of hip hop artist Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or Notorious B.I.G., according to two sources familiar with the investigation.

According to one law enforcement source, the investigation into the 13-year-old unsolved case was "reinvigorated" months ago as a result of new information, but the source would not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation that includes the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. County District Attorney's Office and the FBI.

On March 9, 1997, Wallace, 24, was shot and killed while riding in a Suburban that was driving away from a music industry party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police said a lone gunman in a Chevy Impala pulled alongside the Suburban and opened fire on Wallace, who was in the passenger seat. Witnesses described the suspect as being an African-American man wearing a suit and bow tie.

The main theory behind shooting was payback in a so-called rap war between East and West Coast hip hop artists and their record companies -- Bad Boy Entertainment in New York, which represented Wallace, and Death Row Records, headed by Marion "Suge" Knight, in Los Angeles.

Six months earlier in Las Vegas, a gunman opened fire on a car driven by Knight, killing one of his top artists Tupac Shakur. That murder remains unsolved also.

12348742492?profile=original
"East Coast was Biggie, West Coast was Tupac," Wallace's mother Voletta Wallace told a filmmaker in the 2002 documentary "Biggie and Tupac."

"Come on now, you're messing with lives here and that's exactly what happened. Two lives were lost as a result of what? Stupidity?" Voletta Wallace told the filmmaker.

Retired Los Angeles Police Detective Russell Poole, who worked on the Wallace case, told CNN that he believes Knight was behind the murder, even though the Death Row Records' boss was serving time on a probation violation at the time.

12348743261?profile=originalRussell Poole

"Suge Knight ordered the hit," Poole said, adding that he believes it was arranged by Reggie Wright Jr., who headed security for Death Row Records.

Reggie Wright Jr. told CNN he had nothing to do with the murder, and Knight has repeatedly said he had nothing to do with the crime. Poole said he retired early from the LAPD, in part, because he was thwarted in following leads in the Wallace case involving police officers, some of whom worked off-duty for Death Row Records.

"I think I was getting too close to the truth," Poole said. "I think they feared that the truth would be a scandal."

One of the officers Poole said was involved is David Mack, a rogue policeman tied to the LAPD Rampart Scandal, who was sent to prison for robbing a bank in 1997, the same year Wallace was killed.

12348743285?profile=originalDavid Mack

Poole said Mack owned the same type of car driven by the gunman who shot Wallace, and Poole said a friend of Mack's resembles a police sketch of the shooter.

CNN was unable to reach Mack for comment, but when allegations of his involvement in Wallace' slaying originally surfaced more than a decade ago, his criminal defense attorney Donald Re called the claims ridiculous.

Poole also assisted Wallace's family in their wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department alleging a cover-up in the investigation.

Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard Parks was the chief of police when Poole was investigating, and he told CNN the accusations about a police cover-up are "absurd."

"We would have never ignored a lead that could have helped us solve that murder," Parks said.

12348744471?profile=original
Perry Sanders, Voletta Wallace's attorney, told CNN the family's lawsuit, which was originally filed in 2002, was put on hold in April after Los Angeles police said turning over evidence from the case would interfere with a beefed up investigation.

Mack was released from federal prison on May 14.

Things haven't exactly been going Beanie Sigel's way as of late.

The former Roc-A-Fella spitta reportedly is in trouble with the IRS and he still hasn't patched things up with his former boss Jay-Z.

But a recent interview 804 ENT Beans is sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Beanie looked like he might have been full of that liquor, so it could have been the drink talking, but the Broad Street Bully said he would like to hook up with Fat Joe and Officer Ross to remake a Fat Boys album.

He also said he wouldn't mind signing to Cash Money Records.

What do you guys think of Beanie's latest comments?

Video After The Jump They say old grudges never really die. That seems to be true in the case of Dipset and their old label mates at Roc-A-Fella Records, Kanye West and Jay-Z. There's only a couple of snippets, but you can hear exactly who they are aiming at as Cam'ron spits over Kanye's new track "Runaway".
