Jury selection in the federal trial of former Fugees rapper Pras Michel began Monday.

The rapper is accused of making 2012 campaign donations to groups backing then-President Barack Obama without disclosing that the money came from Malaysian billionaire Jho Low. Prosecutors allege that Low funneled more than $21 million to Michel, who in turn used straw donors to make the campaign donations to pro-Obama groups.

Prosecutors allege that the scheme continued into the Trump administration & that Michel used some of the money Low sent to fund a campaign aimed at stopping a DOJ investigation into Low’s alleged role in embezzling billions of dollars from a Malaysian wealth fund, 1MDB.

Attorneys read a list of more than 40 individuals who could be called to testify in the case.

The list also includes Trump allies such as Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon and Republican megadonor Steve Wynn as well as ex-government officials like former Attorney General Jeff Sessions & former national security adviser H.R. McMaster.

Defense lawyers listed individuals & companies that could be referred to in the trial, including celebrities Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Britney Spears, Martin Scorsese & Mark Wahlberg, activist Jesse Jackson, as well as a former prime minister of Malaysia, his wife & Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The possible witnesses listed above are not accused of wrongdoing.

Several people tied to the alleged plot have pleaded guilty to federal charges, including former Justice Department employee George Higginbotham, Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy & Broidy’s business associate Nickie Lum Davis. Former President Donald Trump pardoned Broidy just before leaving office in January 2021.

If convicted, Michel could face decades in prison. Low, who was also indicted, remains at large & is believed to be in China.

Video After The Jump

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — In an extraordinary display of Republican chaos, the party's most recent presidential candidates, Mitt Romney and John McCain, took on current front-runner Donald Trump on Thursday, calling him unfit for office and a danger for the nation and the GOP.

"His is not the temperament of a stable, thoughtful leader," Romney declared. He called Trump "a phony" who is "playing the American public for suckers," a man whose "imagination must not be married to real power."

Hours later, Trump lashed back, calling Romney "a choke artist" who lost to Barack Obama four years ago only because he was such a poor candidate.

In the most notable attacks on Trump as party leaders try to stop his run to the GOP nomination, Romney and House Speaker Paul Ryan, the party's vice presidential nominee in 2012, urged voters in the strongest terms to shun the former reality television star for the good of country and party.

The GOP's 2008 nominee, Arizona Sen. McCain, joined in, raising "many concerns about Mr. Trump's uninformed and indeed dangerous statements on national security issues that have been raised by 65 Republican defense and foreign policy leaders."

12352015064?profile=original

Romney embraced what might seem a long-shot approach to deny Trump the delegates necessary to secure the nomination. He did not call on Republicans to unify behind a single alternative candidate but outlined a plan to divide the electorate and force a contested national convention in July.

"Given the current delegate selection process, this means that I would vote for Marco Rubio in Florida, for John Kasich in Ohio and for Ted Cruz or whichever one of the other two contenders has the best chance of beating Mr. Trump in a given state," Romney said.

As he spoke in Utah, Ryan said on Capitol Hill that "conservatism is being disfigured" by some of Trump's ideas and statements.

Underlying the remarkable criticism was a bleak reality for panicking Republican officials: Beyond harsh words, there is little they see they can do to stop Trump's march toward the Republican presidential nomination. Party leaders are poring over complicated delegate math, outlining their own hazy scenarios for a contested national convention and even flirting with the idea of a third-party effort.

Trump responded to Romney's speech at a campaign stop in Portland, Maine, saying the former Massachusetts governor "chickened out" when contemplation another presidential run this year when he understood he'd be going up against the billionaire businessman.

"He doesn't have what it takes to be president," Trump said, adding, "I made so much more money than Mitt."

Romney's views are irrelevant, he said. "Look, Mitt is a failed candidate."

The back-and-forth came as the Republican candidates prepared for their first post-Super Tuesday debate, scheduled for Thursday night in Detroit.

12352015099?profile=original

The pre-debate clash took place four years after Romney and Trump stood side by side in Las Vegas, with Trump saying it was a "real honor and privilege" to endorse Romney's White House bid. Romney at the time praised Trump's ability to "understand how our economy works and to create jobs for the American people."

On Thursday, Trump said Romney "was begging me" for an endorsement.

"I could have said, 'Mitt, drop to your knees.' He would have dropped to his knees," Trump said.

Earlier, in Utah, Romney assailed Trump's temperament, his business acumen and his ability to keep America safe.

"If we Republicans choose Donald Trump as our nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished," he said, warning that the kind of anger Trump has displayed has led other countries "into the abyss."

During his Capitol Hill press conference, Ryan dismissed comments Trump made earlier in the week that if the Wisconsin Republican didn't get along with him, Ryan would "pay a big price."

"I just laughed out loud," Ryan told reporters. "Sometimes, reality is stranger than fiction around here these days."

Voters have not so far responded to warning such as those of the Republican leaders on Thursday.

He padded his delegate lead with victories in seven Super Tuesday contests, with Cruz claiming three states and Florida Sen. Rubio picking up his first victory of the 2016 race.

Still, Trump is not yet on track to claim the nomination before the party's national gathering in July, according to an Associated Press delegate count. He has won 46 percent of the delegates awarded so far, and he would have to increase that to 51 percent in the remaining primaries.

March 15 could be last opportunity to stop Trump through the normal path of winning states and collecting delegates. A win for Rubio in his home state of Florida would raise questions about Trump's strength, as could a win for Kasich, Ohio's governor, on his home turf.

Kasich took aim at Trump on Thursday as well, saying for the first time that he needs to be stopped.

The GOP mayhem contrasts sharply with a clearer picture on the Democratic side, where Hillary Clinton is drawing broad support from voters and her party's leaders. Rival Sen. Bernie Sanders has vowed to keep up his fight, though his path to the nomination has become exceedingly narrow.

12352015874?profile=original

The Associated Press has asked Republican governors and senators if they would support Trump if he becomes the party's nominee. Of the 59 respondents, slightly fewer than half could not commit to backing him in November.

In October 2012, we posted a story about Amanda Todd. She was 15-years old at the time she committed suicide after being stalked and blackmailed into exposing herself on webcam by someone she had never met.

12349554658?profile=original

Amanda Todd

This horror story began when Amanda was in the seventh grade. She went into an online chat room and made the mistake of giving into a guy's request to expose her breasts on webcam. Fast forward a year later and the man somehow tracked her down on Facebook. He knew where she lived, her relatives names and what school she attended. He told her if she didn't continue to expose herself he would send photos of her breasts to everyone she knew.

Amanda did as she was told, but her stalker sent compromising photos to everyone she knew anyway. After being bullied by schoolmates, attempting suicide and changing schools, Amanda made a video using note cards to describe her ordeal.

I'm struggling to stay in this world, because everything just touches me so deeply. I'm not doing this for attention. I'm doing this to be an inspiration and to show that I can be strong. I did things to myself to make pain go away, because I'd rather hurt myself then someone else. Haters are haters but please don't hate, although im sure I'll get them. I hope I can show you guys that everyone has a story, and everyones future will be bright one day, you just gotta pull through. I'm still here aren't I ?

-AmandaTodd

12349554252?profile=original

The video was uploaded on September 7, 2012. On October 10, 2012, Amanda committed suicide at her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

It's taken a while, but police have finally made an arrest in the case. A 35-year old Dutch man, identified as only as "Aydin C" because of Dutch privacy laws, is in police custody.

According to the New York Daily News, Ayden C has been arrested in the Netherlands and charged with extortion, luring, criminal harassment and possession of child pornography for the purpose of distribution.

"This is truly a day we have been waiting for," said Carol Todd, Amanda's mother

Carol Todd fights back tears as she listens during a Royal Canadian Mounted Police news conference in Surrey, British Columbia, on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Carol Todd

Ayden C was taken into custody in January 2014. However, the news of his arrest and connection to Amanda is just now being reported.

"The suspicions against the man are that he approached underage girls via the Internet and then seduced them into performing sexual acts in front of a webcam," prosecutors said in a statement. "He is suspected of subsequently pressurizing them to participate in making new material."

Dutch police suspect he has victimized girls in the U.S., Britain, Canada and the Netherlands.

Ayden C is also accused of blackmailing men by pretending to be an underage boy and convincing them to perform sex acts on camera, then threatening to turn them over to police.

Canadian authorities want to extradite Ayden C and prosecute him for the crimes committed against Amanda, but Dutch officials say he must go through the legal process there first.

His lawyer, Christian van Dijk, said he doesn't think prosecutors have enough evidence to convict his client.

"Prosecutors seem to think they have a big fish here, but if I see the evidence, it's not much," he said. "Lots of references to IP addresses and such."

Amanda's cry for help can be viewed below. Her mother hopes the video will help others who are being bullied.

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez may be linked to more murders than he was charged with Wednesday, June 26th. According to TMZ, Boston police may be investigating Hernandez for a 2012 drive-by shooting that left 2 men dead.

A rep for the Suffolk County District Attorney confirmed that there was an "active investigation" into the case. When asked if the 23-year old football player was involved the rep wouldn't comment. However, one source close to the situation said, "It's safe to assume he is now involved."

12350197293?profile=original

TMZ also unearthed a photo of Hernandez throwing up gang signs. He is reportedly linked to the Bristol Bloods street gang in Connecticut. The photo was taken when Hernandez was 17.

The player reportedly has been in fear for his life in recent months and trying to separate himself from his old associates since he signed a $40 million contract last year with the Patriots. But according to TMZ his old homies felt like he owed them his time and respect.

12350197900?profile=original

As we previously reported. Hernandez was charged first degree murder in connection to the shooting death of 27-year old Olin Lloyd. He's also facing 5 additional gun related charges.

Hernandez was just in court requesting bail. The judge in the case denied his request.

Atlanta rapper Big Boi recently sat down with Huff Post Live for a candid interview. The Outkast member offered advice to young artists, talked about being a libertarian and voting for Gary Johnson in the 2012 presidential election.

Daddy Fat Sax also spoke about President Obama, the possibility of an Outkast reunion and gave his opinion on gun control.

"Where I stand at is on the Second Amendment, where the right to bear arms is not just for hunting and fishing and things like like that. It's the right of the American people to have a means of defense against a tyrannical government. Sometimes you gotta have that back up plan," Big Boi said.

U.S. soldiers are committing suicide at an alarming rate. NBC News reports that through November 2012, 177 active-duty soldiers had committed suicide. In all of 2012, 176 soldiers were killed in action while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

12349778300?profile=original

Russia Today reports the suicide rate is much higher when you take into account soldiers who have returned home from combat. According to their report, nearly 500 American troops and veterans took their own lives last year.

Many soldiers feel they will be looked at as being weak or denied promotion if they seek mental health aid. Families of some suicide victims blame the military for not doing enough to help troops deal with the stress of combat.

The Pentagon hasn’t spent the money that it has for suicide prevention for this year — and that money wasn’t nearly enough money to reach all the soldiers who need help. Now we are hearing about bureaucratic technicalities at the Pentagon that are preventing them from acting. This is unconscionable,” Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Washington, told NBC. “The Pentagon is funded to help soldiers and needs to do much more on the epidemic of suicides."

12349778887?profile=original

The Department of Defense says that they are working on this growing epidemic and that "anti-suicide programs installed throughout the armed services soon will curb military suicides — and that such initiatives already have helped douse mental-health stigmas."

"We have seen several programs that we are optimistic are going to start making a dent in this issue," said Jackie Garrick, acting director of the DOD suicide prevention office. "We’ve asked all of the services to use the same messaging, the same talking points. So the Army, included in that, is trying to adapt and promote those same messages because we realize that this is an across-the-board problem."

Tim Kenney of the Army National Guard says that he battled suicidal thoughts when he returned home from the war, but was able to overcome them. He thinks many servicemen have a hard time adjusting back into civilian life.

12349779479?profile=original

"What these guys end up doing is I think is they feel 'I can't cope anymore with civilian life.' A lot of guys end up killing themselves because they don't think they will ever fit back into normal society," Kenney told Russia Today.

Do you think the military is doing enough to help U.S. soldiers with this growing problem?

2012 was a big year for Meek Mill. He dropped his debut album Dreams and Nightmares, and established himself as an emcee to look out for in the future.

Rap-Up recently caught up with Meek to get his answers on the highlights of his year, Trinidad James, T.I., his favorite albums of 2012, plans for Christmas, new year's resolution, building his team and more.

Meek named 2 Chainz, Future, Kendrick Lamar to name a few.

12349737293?profile=original

While for the most part things have been looking up for the Philly rapper he did get some bad news recently.

Judge Genece Brinkley said Monday the rapper, whose real name is Robert Williams, violated an order restricting his performance scheduling and failing to properly keep in touch with his probation officer.

Meek will not be allowed to tour. travel or perform, except for charity. For a month according to Philly.com.

"You need to get yourself together," Brinkley told Meek during Monday's 2 1/2-hour probation hearing in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia., "You are going to be home for Christmas and New Year's."

Meek's attorney argued that the judge was preventing the rapper from making a living.

"Robert Williams is on probation, not Meek Mill," said his lawyer Gary Silver. "You are preventing him from earning his livelihood. This isn't like mixtapes being made in the basement of someone's house. This is for real. He has a job that appears to be interesting to a lot of people. He wants to earn a legal living. It just happens to be on a national and international stage."

Video After The Jump

50 Cent had the honor of presenting the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at the AMA's last night. Tyga, Drake and Nicki Minaj were the nominees in the category.

Tristan Wilds and Shay Carl caught up with the G-Unit boss on the Coca-Cola red carpet to get his opinion on who he thought should win the award,

"If we're looking at new efforts then we will have to go towards Tyga, he's the newest one. It would mean the most to him if he won. But Drake... it's pretty tough. It's cool, they've been working," 50 said.

(Nicki Minaj won)
