Video After The Jump

2011 was a banner year for Jay-Z and Kanye West, together known as The Throne. If things go according to plan 2012 will be even bigger because we could see three separate albums from the duo.

"It depends on how this thing finishes up," Jay told MTV, referring to the current Watch the Throne Tour. "We — I say 'we' because I'm in Throne mode — we're in a great place creatively. You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we're really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone."

Soulja Boy Releasing Video Game In 2012

12349094862?profile=original

A new video game featuring Soulja Boy is coming in 2012 according to the rapper.

Soulja posted a cover picture of COREleted: The Beginning on his tumblr page yesterday with a caption underneath that read "soulja boy the video game in stores 2012." When asked by a fan about the pic which is also his background on Twitter, Soulja confirmed that the game will be available next year on X-Box and Playstation 3.

Plans for the video game have been in the works for several years. He told Complex in 2008 that the game was coming soon.

"After I put the Xbox 360 challenge up on the Internet, it was over all these video game sites. And a couple video game companies hit me up on my email because I put the email on there too. And hit me up like, 'Blah, blah, blah, blah.' So I was like, 'Oh snaps!'" Soulja said at the time. "So I forwarded to my management, and they forwarded to my label. And now we're doing the video game. It was the same way I got signed for my music. It's like history repeating itself, but instead of music this time it's about video games."

A new Drake biography is headed our way in comic book form.

FAME: Drake will cover Drizzy's career from his days as an actor on Degrassi: The Next Generation, to his rise to fame in the music business.

What makes Drake such a distinctive creative personality is that he's not just one thing. His music encompasses hip-hop, rap, old style rhythm and blues, soul and pop," the book's author, Marc Shapiro told MTV.

Shapiro goes on to describe the Young Money artist as being “refreshingly real and down to earth."

"When was the last time you heard of a celebrity blowing off a lucrative tour to be at his mother's side during her stay in the hospital? Drake did just that. You could die of old age waiting to find somebody who has as much soul, creatively and as a human being, as Drake," says Shapiro.

FAME: Drake is being published by Bluewater Productions and will be available January 2012. The book will feature the art of Mike J.C. The cover was illustrated by Joe Phillips.

It's been thirteen years since Talib Kweli and Mos Def released their only collaborative album. It appears the duo is teaming up to reform Black Star and drop a new project.

"Me and Mos are focused on independence and quality of sound," Talib told MTV. "We’re really into a Madlib/Dilla thing right now. Anything you hear from us is probably going to be that type of sound. And it’s about independence, so we are trying to find out the right mediums to get the songs out. When you heard “Fix Up” on Colbert, it wasn’t even mixed; it was something we recorded a week before. Now we’re at the mixing stage of the song and we are going to put that out ourselves. We have a bunch of songs recorded. We are just trying to figure out the best way to release them, whether it’s going to be one by one, EP or album. Right now, the plan is to release “Fix Up” and then Yaasin is working on a Yaasin Bey Presents project and then we’ll see how it goes."

Talib plans releasing the new Black Star project in 2012.

"[Pause, then slowly] I am working to put out a Black Star project for people to buy sometime next year."

Would you like to hear a new Black Star album?

J. Cole's debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story is still a hot topic, having debuted at number one on Billboard earlier this month. Cole is certainly happy about the project's success, but he's already working hard on it's follow up.

In an interview with Providence's HOT 106 Rise & Grind Morning hosts Deanna Cruz and Vezzy Parmesan, Cole reveals his sophomore album will be dropping in June 2012.

"I'm already thinking about the second one and how I can make it even better," Cole said.

Cole also said the next Cole World single will be "Nobody's Perfect" featuring Missy Elliot and spoke on the possibility of a Roc Nation album.

Hard work and dedication to his craft is paying off for 50 Cent.

It was just announced that Image Entertainment was so impressed with 50's film "All Things Fall Apart," that they have acquired the rights to it from Hannibal Pictures and will release it to theaters in early 2012.

Image obtained the rights just before the start of Toronto International Film Festival according to the L.A. Times.

The plot of the film centers around a college athlete who is on his way to winning a Heisman Trophy when he's diagnosed with a tumor near his heart.

Fifty lost 80 pounds to accurately portray the role he has described as a "passion" project for him.

"I had to discipline myself not to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt,” told the Associated Press back in February.

The story is based on a real life friend of the rapper/actor.

12348871694?profile=originalDonald Trump announced today that he wouldn't be seeking the Republican nomination for President in 2012.

He released a statement that said:

"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector."

Trump had been very critical of President Obama in the last several months. At one point leading the charge of the "birthers" who don't believe Obama was born in the United States despite him showing previous proof.

Trump took credit last month when Obama produced a long form birth certificate. But that seemed to kill his criticism of the President. It didn't help that he was made to look foolish at the most recent White House Correspondents' Dinner when the President roasted him for several minutes.

Let's face it, this could have all been a huge publicity stunt for Trump, who isn't afraid to be a media wh*re when he's promoting something, like his television show 'Celebrity Apprentice.'

NBC had already announced it would replace Trump on the show if he were to run for the oval office.

Times Online Reports Eleven years after the British boxing authorities lost the argument against licensing women because they “bruised easily” and were made “unstable” by premenstrual tension, the fairer sex is on the brink of another victory in the equality fight. Olympic chiefs meeting in Berlin on Thursday are expected to admit women’s boxing to the summer Games with a debut at London 2012. It would be a landmark moment not only for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a male-dominated members’ club renowned for oldfashioned attitudes, but for the development of an increasingly popular sport among women and girls not naturally drawn to organised physical activity. Advocates say that inclusion in the Olympics, where boxing is an amateur sport, is long overdue. It is the sole male-only summer discipline, after the pole vault and 3,000-metre steeplechase featured women at the 2000 and 2008 Games respectively. Rebecca Gibson, the England women’s boxing development manager, said: “Women should be allowed to have a go at whatever they want. Being an Olympic sport would give women the same aspiration as men.” The case for women’s boxing is driven by the sport’s international federation as well as Jacques Rogge, the IOC president and a former boxing doctor. A previous effort in 2005 failed after the IOC feared a lack of qualified talent would result in dangerous mismatches. Since then, the number of countries with women at the elite level has risen to 125. In England the number of registered female boxers has jumped from 50 in 2005 to 642. There are about 670 in Britain. Among them is Hannah Behanny, 22, from London, a double European bronze medallist and 2012 hopeful. She started boxercise aged 17 after being sent to a reform centre for violent behaviour. In a storyline to mirror the film Million Dollar Baby, she finally convinced a sceptical local coach to drop his male-only policy to train her. “The guys in my gym treat me as an equal but there are still some people stuck in the old school who think it shouldn’t happen,” she said. “It’s ignorance. It’s the men that get bashed up and bloodied. Women’s boxing is more strategic. I’ve never seen a girl get knocked out.” The Olympics would bring profile and funding to women’s boxing, which is high on the national fitness agenda. The Government is backing a return of non-contact boxing training to schools. Women’s boxing first appeared in London in the 1720s and was a demonstration sport at the 1904 Olympics before being banned. The professional ranks in the UK admitted women in 1998 after losing a sex discrimination case brought by Jane Couch, who argued it was no more dangerous for women than men despite a medical expert for the British Boxing Board of Control claiming that they were “too frail”. Ms Couch retired last December, aged 40, with five world titles and is now a promoter. The British Medical Association still campaigns for a ban on all boxing, male or female, on the ground that it can cause chronic brain damage, which accumulates over a career. All amateur boxers, male or female, have to wear head and groin guards. Women have the option of wearing breast pads. Gerry Willmott, a policeman who coaches women in Haringey, said: “Most people who see women’s boxing for the first time are surprised by the technical quality. “Women don’t have preconceived ideas, so are more prepared to learn the basics. They don’t get in the ring thinking they are Ali or Mayweather.” The admission of women’s boxing to the Olympics would give heart to the female ski jumpers still barred from the winter Games. It might also encourage male synchronised swimmers, who were approved by world swimming’s governing body in 2000 but have yet to compete in an Olympics, to eschew stereotypes to make 2012 the first truly gender-neutral Games.
