Tom Brady, the most decorated player in league history and widely considered the greatest of all time, is retiring from the NFL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington.

Of course, Brady's career is nothing short of legendary. He first came into the NFL as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft out of Michigan and was selected by Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Brady spent that first season on the bench behind veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Then, in Week 2 of the 2001 season, a devastating hit by Jets linebacker Mo Lewis knocked Bledsoe out of the game and effectively changed the trajectory of Brady's career, the Patriots franchise, and the NFL at large.

The second-year quarterback came in, took hold of the starting job and helped lead New England to a Super Bowl XXXVI title, the first in franchise history. Brady's legend only continued to grow as that championship sparked a dynasty where he and the organization would win three Super Bowls in four seasons.

The Patriots continued to have sustained success under Brady following those titles in the years to follow, albeit without hoisting any Lombardi Trophies for a decade. That said, those were arguably some of the more impressive statistical campaigns of Brady's career, including a record-shattering 50 touchdown season in 2007. That year, the Patriots went 16-0 during the regular season but fell just short of perfection, losing to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

New England did get back to winning titles under Brady during the later stages of his career, however, claiming three championships from 2014 to 2018. Those Super Bowls elevated Brady onto a mythical level in NFL lore, particularly Super Bowl LI when he helped the Patriots rally from a 28-3 second-half deficit to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime.

Brady spent 20 years with the Patriots before departing the franchise in free agency in the spring of 2020. At that point, he elected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and -- even as he entered his mid-40s -- showed that he was still capable of winning at a high level. In his first season in Tampa, the Buccaneers went on to win Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs for the seventh title of Brady's career.

In Brady's final season in the NFL in 2021, the quarterback led the NFL in passing yards (5,316) and passing touchdowns (43). His final game was a 30-27 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round in which Brady nearly clawed his team back after trailing 27-3 midway through the third quarter. Brady and the Bucs tied the game at 27 with less than a minute remaining in the four quarter, but L.A. was able to get in field goal range in the final seconds to kick the game-winner.

When taking a macro view of Brady's career, it's as decorated as anyone in league history. His seven Super Bowls are the most all-time, as are his five Super Bowl MVP awards. Brady has thrown more completions, passing yards, and touchdowns than any other quarterback that has come before, and he is also the winningest player in NFL history with 278 total wins. And that's just the tip of the iceberg in what consists of a mountain of accomplishments for Brady.

While it may have seemed like Brady was destined to play forever, he is finally closing the book on his playing career, as the greatest player the NFL has ever seen is now hanging up his cleats.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida police sergeant who was recorded grabbing a colleague by the neck when she tried to deescalate a situation involving a suspect is under crimianal investigation, officials said.

Sunrise police Sgt. Christopher Pullease has also been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the agency said in a statement.

“This is a result of criminal allegations that have been uncovered due to the internal affairs investigation. The Sunrise Police Department is working in conjunction with the Broward State Attorney’s Office during this criminal investigation.”

The 21-year veteran of the department had been placed on desk duty five days after the Nov. 19 incident.

The suspect had been handcuffed and placed into a cruiser when Pullease pointed pepper spray at him. The unidentified female officer ran to Pullease and pulled him by the belt away from the suspect, the video showed.

Pullease turned and put his left hand on her throat before pushing her back toward another police cruiser.

The bodies of three teens who died following an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday at a Crosby home were found throughout the rural residence, according to authorities.

Police found the body of 15-year-old Hayden Burns in a bedroom. Authorities suspect he shot the others then took his own life. In another bedroom was his 17-year-old sister Haley Burns, Harris County Sheriff's Office officials said in an email identifying the teens.

Another 17-year-old girl, not related to either of the siblings, was found in the hallway. Police identified her as Kadience Cadena.

A relative to the siblings found the children inside a house in the 4500 block of Wolcek Road.

Medical examiner records show one girl had multiple gunshot wounds, while the other had a gunshot wound to the head.

Crosby ISD officials said the teens were not currently enrolled in their schools.

"Although the teenagers were not current students, we are thinking of and praying for those who knew them in our community," a district statement read. "District counselors have been made available at all campuses this week to speak with students and staff in need of extra support."

HOUSTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Three teens were found dead Tuesday, Jan. 18 in a home northeast of Houston, and it appears one of the teens killed themself after killing the other two, authorities said.

The bodies of two 17-year-old girls and a 15-year-old boy were discovered by a relative Tuesday at a home in Crosby outside Houston, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters.

“It appears that this case may be a case of a double homicide and a suicide,” Gonzalez said at a press conference outside the rural residence. “Those are the preliminary observations that I have.”

The home is in a rural area near the community of Crosby, which is about 25 miles northeast of Houston.

Gonzalez said the firearm that appears to have been involved was found at the scene. He said the homeowner is believed to have been away.

He said they were still trying to determine a motive and the connections between the three teens.

Jenna Jameson is in the hospital and unable to walk after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Over the weekend, Jameson’s partner, Lior Bitton — with whom she shares 4-year-old daughter Batel Lu — revealed on Instagram that she was in the hospital undergoing tests after “not feeling so good.”

The ex-porn star had been throwing up for two weeks before going to the hospital last week, only to be sent home, Bitton explained.

“Then she came back home and she couldn’t carry herself,” Bitton said in a video on Saturday. “Her muscles in her legs were very weak. So she wasn’t able to walk to the bathroom. She was falling on the way back or to the bathroom, I would have to pick her up and carry her to bed. And then within two days, it got really not so good, her legs started to not hold her, she wasn’t able to walk.”

The Israeli businessman took Jameson back to a hospital, where more testing occurred and it was determined that she was suffering from Guillain-Barré syndrome.

According to the CDC, it is a “rare, autoimmune disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages the nerves, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis.” The symptoms can last from weeks to several years. Most fully recover but some have permanent nerve damage.

In an Instagram Story, Bitton announced that Jameson was being given a high dose of immunoglobulin therapy.

“She’s doing physical therapy to try and stand on her legs, but at the moment she cannot stand on her legs. They’re starting the treatment so they’ll see how it goes. So keep praying.”

On Monday, Jameson posted a video confirming her diagnosis, thanking fans for their good wishes before writing: “I did NOT get the jab or any jab. This is NOT a reaction to the jab. Thank you for your concern.” (Jameson has previously espoused anti-vaccine views on her social media.)

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- The suspect accused of killing a man was a victim of circumstance by stealing a vehicle that happened to have body parts, including a severed head, in the back, his defense attorney said Tuesday.

Eric Holland faces a murder charge after Las Vegas Metropolitan Police conducted a vehicle stop on Dec. 23 on a Toyota Tundra with a suspended registration. Police said they followed the vehicle before Holland was seen driving a gold Chevrolet Avalanche.

LVMPD found a severed head and body parts in several coolers inside the second truck, according to an arrest report. The victim was identified as Richard P. Miller of Las Vegas, an acquaintance of the suspect. The coroner said Miller died from multiple gunshot wounds & his death was a homicide.

Holland's defense attorney David Westbrook claimed Holland happened to steal a vehicle with body parts inside. Westbrook asked rhetorically why Holland would intentionally lead officers to a vehicle with body parts inside.

“In order to believe he had knowledge of what was in that vehicle, you would have to believe he intentionally led police to the body," Westbrook said.

An LVMPD detective testified that multiple firearms & knives were recovered at the scene, along with tape and plastic bags. Prosecutors argued Holland was a danger to society & asked that he not be granted bail.

Judge Harmony Letizia agreed to not grant Holland bail. His next court appearance was set for Jan. 27.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Malik McDowell, who was given a second chance by the team after serving jail time, was arrested Monday in Florida on charges of beating a police officer & public exposure.

Police in Deerfield Beach, Florida, said they were responding to a “naked male walking near a school” when an officer approached McDowell, who was sitting on a curb. The officer said McDowell stood up, uttered an obscenity at him & “charged at me full speed with a closed fist.”

The officer said he was unable to avoid McDowell’s attack or use any “de-escalation tactics.” McDowell slammed into the officer & punched him in the right eye & on the top of the head.

McDowell fled before he was stopped using a stun gun & handcuffed. The officer said his right eye was nearly closed because of swelling from the punches he absorbed in the attack & there is a “likelihood that I sustained permanent injury to my eye.”

McDowell was charged with aggravated battery on an officer, resisting an officer/obstructing with violence & exposure of sex organs in public. Bail was posted at $25,000.

McDowell came to the Browns with a troubled past.

A second-round pick by Seattle in 2017 out of Michigan State, the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder never played for the Seahawks after suffering a brain injury in an ATV accident that was followed by several arrests & an 11-month stay in a Michigan jail.

HOUSTON (KHOU) — A woman found dead in east Harris County may be a suspect in the shooting death of a man found in the parking lot of an elementary school Monday night.

This happened around 11:20 p.m. in the parking lot of Pyburn Elementary School located on Peppertree Lane just east of Jacinto City on the east side.

Houston police said officers arrived to find the man shot to death inside a red Chevrolet pickup truck in the parking lot.

Police said after reviewing surveillance video, it appears to show the red pickup pull up into the parking lot & 10 minutes later, a maroon-colored sedan arrives.

The video then shows three people get out of the sedan & open fire on the driver’s side of the pickup where the male victim was.

Police said before the suspects left the scene, they dragged the body of a woman who appears to be wounded into their sedan & drove away from the parking lot.

Houston police said they believe this woman is the same woman who was found dead by Harris County deputies a short time later in the back of a sedan on Penn City Road near Jacinto port by the Marwood area.

Investigators said the woman found dead fits the description of the woman seen in the surveillance video being dragged to the sedan at the school.

Homicide detectives said it appears she may have been involved with the shooters who shot the man in the truck. She may be a suspect in that man’s murder & was accidentally struck by one of the shooters.

The shooters then brought the woman to the second scene & dumped her with the maroon-colored sedan. She appears to be in her 20s.

She explains how things changed when she was forced to move to California where should found comedy gave her a voice when she was just coming out as gay. They go on to talk about the elements of the rapper-comedian connection as well as some differences. They discuss rapper's and comedian's unshakable confidence, both having to perform through whatever tribulations they may have in life, comedians being forced to always bring new material to their fans while rappers are encouraged to play their hits as well as how both comedians and emcees always have their minds on the set-up and punchlines.

40:35 -- Jasmin brings up how she wasn't able to finish a performance after she found out a good friend of hers had passed away and goes on to ask Talib and Chaunté how they have found the strength to go on while dealing with internal issues. They discuss rappers benefitting from not usually having to shed personal stories on stage, Talib forgetting lyrics to his own songs on stage after not performing for a year due to covid and Chaunté using her pain and passion from losing two of her closest friends to successfully pitch a show to producers.

46:29 -- Chaunté is asked how her unique perspective of being triple marginalized as a gay, black woman impacted her comedy. She proposes one idea to fix the whole thing, Jasmin raises one of her biggest problems with how the LGBTQ activist community operates and they discuss the importance of comedians speaking their truth to avoid losing their passion.

52:43 -- The debate about the covid vaccination mandates is brought up. They discuss how so many are now coming face to face with the reality that taking principled stands on things they believe in usually has real consequences. Chaunté's friend comedian Tiffany Haddish is discussed along with Chaunté's appearance on the Netflix comedy special 'They Ready' only briefly catapulting her career with poor timing due to it's release right before covid hit. Talib also brings up the good times hanging with her uncle Marlon and his being part of the 'Midnight Miracle' podcast ad.

59:18 -- Chaunté is asked about the naming of her 'House Arrest' podcast. They go on to discuss Chaunté's mentioning of how everything that is happening to her now is a result of her learning how to change her patterns, her taking a valuable lesson from studying the practice of dianetics, Talib changing patterns in his own life and the awakening during a pivotal moment in Chaunté's life where she knew she had to put a stop to her self-destructive ways. Finally Jasmin asks Chaunté what she has on the horizon.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Fox13) — Both of the gunmen wanted for the murder of beloved Memphis rapper Young Dolph are now in custody.

The U.S. Marshals said that one of the suspects, 23-year-old Justin Johnson, was captured in Indiana on Tuesday, Jan. 11 around 3 p.m.

According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, the second suspected gunman, Cornelius Smith was also arrested & booked into Shelby County Jail, charged with first-degree murder for the rapper’s death.

Johnson’s arrest comes less than a week after the Marshals identified him as one of the people responsible for the death of Young Dolph, whose real name was Adolph Robert Thornton Jr.

A $15,000 reward for information leading to Johnson’s arrest was announced by the U.S. Marshals Service, who believe that Johnson was one of two people who opened fire on the famous rapper on Nov. 17, 2021 when he was inside of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies on Airways Blvd.

Johnson took to social media shortly before his capture, announcing that he would turn himself in at 201 Poplar, but he never showed up, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s office.

Johnson faces charges of first-degree murder and theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000. He also has an outstanding warrant for violation of federal release related to a weapons conviction.

Smith, 32, is also charged with first-degree murder, along with attempted first-degree murder, unlawfully carrying or possessing a weapon, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony & theft of property between $10,000 & $60,000.

Smith was arrested on Dec. 9 in Southaven on an auto-theft warrant involving the white Mercedes Benz vehicle used in Young Dolph’s murder.

Weirich’s office said that the Mercedes was stolen in a carjacking on Nov. 10 at a gas station on Kirby Rd. Working on information from a tipster who said the car was used in the murder of Young Dolph, police found the car on Nov. 20 in the 1100 block of Bradley St. in Orange Mound, three days after the world-renowned artist was gunned down.

JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - The District Attorney of Jefferson Davis County says that a child’s innocence was lost after they were allegedly kidnapped and raped repeatedly by two men last week.

The incident took place when a two-year-old was allegedly abducted from Jefferson Davis County by Keldrick J. Magee, 33, and Kim Lodge, 62.

The boy was reported missing Thursday night around 8:55 p.m. and was found the next day at an apartment complex in a neighboring county. It is believed that he was dropped off at the apartment complex by their alleged abductors.

Magee, also known as K.K., has been charged with four counts of rape, one count of sexual battery and one count of kidnapping. Lodge has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping.

Investigators say each man is charged with one count for each time he allegedly assaulted the child.

“The actions of these two individuals were horrendous with what was done to this 2-year-old,” stated DA Hal Kittrell in a press conference Thursday.

Kittrell revealed that the child was treated in the hospital due to injuries sustained during the attack, which officials believe took place Thursday night into Friday morning.

Kittrell also said that the 2-year-old’s innocence was lost and that “anybody who does this to a child does not deserve to be among us.”

It is not currently known if there was a connection between the child and the two charged.
