Cassidy stopped by VladTV to speak about new things he has in the works, including his upcoming project, "The Boy Barbaric," and he also touched on the possibility of a battle rap in the near future. When asked about if he would jump in the ring anytime soon, Cassidy told DJ Vlad that he's always down to battle.
During the conversation, Cassidy also addressed the current state of battle rap, as he admits that it has cooled off in recent months. The Lox teamed up with J-Doe to release a new song expressing their anger at the recent police killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling.
Take a listen to "What Happens?" up top and read the accompanying message from the group below.
Dear America,
We want peace.
We do not hate police nor do we want police to hate us, but there is a divide in communities across this country. We feel like we (minorities) are a perceived enemy.
We salute and acknowledge the good officers of the community around America but recognition of good does not prevent us from addressing what is taking place across the nation..
Some may interpret this song as a threat – it is not. We are asking a question, ”What happens when we can’t take any more, what happens when we do to you what you have done to us?” As artists and businessmen we know good officers. We have gone to school with, grown up with and are friends with officers. Officers have supported some of our businesses and we appreciate and support officers right back. But, we cannot ignore recent horrifying incidents.
To police and government officials across the world, please understand and over stand – We want peace!!!
We are asking for no more, or no less, than equality, and justice, and absolute freedom, which is due to us.
– The LOX
