The gunman who opened fire inside a Texas church, killing two parishioners, has been identified as Keith Thomas Kinnunen, police announced Monday.

Kinnunen, 43, was shot and killed by a volunteer member of the church's security team seconds after the attack began Sunday morning at West Freeway Church of Christ. The man who killed the gunman, Jack Wilson, told CBS News he doesn't consider himself a hero.

Wilson, who has law enforcement training, said he fired a single headshot to take down Kinnunen. There were more than 240 people inside the church at the time.

"I had people in front of me. I had to wait until they got out of my line of fire because I didn't want to hit any of them," Wilson told CBS News. "At that point, the shooter, I guess, caught out of the corner of his eye because he was walking towards the front of the church. He then kind of halfway turned toward me and that's when I took the shot."

The two men who were killed in the attack were identified as Richard White and Tony Wallace.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive, but the FBI said the gunman had roots in the community and has a criminal past. The congregation will meet again Monday night to complete its Sunday morning service.

Kanunin had been arrested multiple times since 2009, including weapons charges in Texas and New Jersey.

DMX looked right at home -- taking the stage and putting on a hell of a show -- just months after announcing he was checking himself into rehab and investing in his own future.

DMX hit Hakkasan Las Vegas Nightclub Sunday night where he performed a string of his biggest hits for fans. We're told he arrived around 2 AM with a small crew -- including his new fiancee -- and seemed fresh and energetic to mix with the crowd.

Our club sources say DMX sipped on water and smoked cigarettes before he hit the stage ... and was happy to take photos with fans.

X played all the hits, including "Ruff Ryders' Anthem," "Where The Hood At?" and "X Gon' Give It To Ya."

He also took a moment to thank his supporters, saying, "When you fall down, get back up, everyone here has been through some s**t and you never know what God is willing to do for you until you need him to do something for you."

It was back in October when an announcement posted on X's page let fans know was going back to rehab. The note said, "In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility."

Sources close to X said he chose to admit himself into a rehab program not because of a relapse, but because he felt his old demons and habits creeping back up.

Here's to a healthy and happy 2020 for DMX.

DAVIE, Fla. (WPLG) – Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested Sunday on a domestic battery charge.

According to a Davie police report, Howard got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend and mother of their three children “over a recent purchase of a purse at a store that wasn’t disclosed to her.”

Police said the argument turned physical when Howard grabbed her arms and pushed her against the glass wall in their bedroom hallway. Police said Howard then let go of her, causing her to fall to the floor and landing on one of his crutches.

Howard's arrest came on the same day his team defeated the Patriots in New England for the first time since 2008.

The 2018 Pro Bowl player has been on injured reserve since Oct. 29 and wasn’t with his team.

“We are aware of the situation and currently gathering information,” the team said in a statement. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

A 2016 second-round draft pick from Baylor, Howard has 140 career tackles, 35 pass deflections and 12 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

Howard was being held in the main Broward County jail Monday morning in lieu of a $3,000 bond.

Video After The Jump

In this episode of People's Party, Talib Kweli and co-host Jasmin Leigh sit down with the man, the myth, the freestyle legend -- MC Supernatural. Over the next hour and twenty minutes, we get a deeply candid (and rare) discussion with one of the greatest off-the-dome rappers of all time. The conversation covers a wide range of topics, including Nat's (born Reco Price) early life growing up in Marion, Indiana and his move to Brooklyn, were he met Talib while freestyling in Washington Square Park. Together, the two friends look back on the pre-fame days -- soaking up culture and smoking trees in '90s-era Brooklyn, New York.

Later in the show, Nat lays down the true-to-life stories behind his infamous freestyle sessions with Craig G and Juice -- two rap battles that changed hip-hop forever. He also sheds light on his spiritual side and deep immersion in the religion of Yoruba, before opening up about his mother's emotional reaction to seeing him featured in the "Pass the Mic" episode of Netflix's Hip-Hop Evolution.

As the convo continues, Nat offers details on a new album in the works, gives his take on the difference between "freestyle" vs. "off the top of the head" flows, and offers some truly inspiring words to those involved in today's conscious rap movement.

During his long and successful career, Juicy J, has never been shy about sharing information about his party lifestyle. Many of his songs reference drug usage. However, after some reflection he seems to be regretting how some of his fans may have interpreted his message.

On Saturday, December 28, the 44-year old Memphis native expressed how he now feels about the subject in a short tweet.

"If I inspired anybody to do drugs I apologize," Juicy wrote.

With the recent drug-related deaths of several young rappers, including Lil Peep, Juice Wrld and Mac Miller, we applaud Juicy J for using his platform to speak out because he is someone that is very influential within the industry.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) — A would-be car thief, who was caught in the act, wasn’t afraid to admit that he just wasn’t very good at it, deputies said.

“They say perseverance is a good thing, but that’s not always true,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.

Officials say Todd Sheldon tried to break into a car in south Jefferson County last week, but was caught by the homeowner. The homeowner called for help, but Sheldon escaped before deputies arrived.

“Don’t worry we found him… just down the street… trying to break into another vehicle,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “As deputies approached him, they could see him actively trying to break into the truck.”

According to the deputies, he replied: “I can’t. I’m trying to steal this truck.”

That’s when deputies took him into custody. He was booked into jail and later bonded out.

“Unfortunately the story doesn’t end there,” the sheriff’s office stated. And, the third time is not always the charm.

This past week, deputies were called to another report of a man breaking into a car — and found it was the same man!

When deputies confronted the man, he reportedly said: “I really suck at this.”

“We share this story in part because of its uniqueness, but also to remind folks to lock their cars and call us to report suspicious activity,” investigators said. “The suspect in this post is currently in our jail and we’re hoping he takes advantage of the counseling and educational opportunities we offer to help him in his future endeavors.”

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indiana woman who admitted to injecting fecal matter into her son’s IV is going to prison.

Tiffany Alberts, 44, was sentenced to seven years in prison followed by five years of probation one count of neglect and six counts of aggravated battery. She had been charged with attempted murder, but she was found not guilty of that charge during a bench trial in September.

The investigation began in 2016 when her then 15-year-old son developed blood infections while undergoing treatment for leukemia at Riley Hospital for Children.

Staff placed surveillance cameras in the teen’s room, and they discovered Alberts was using a syringe to inject an unknown substance in his IV bag.

Alberts later admitted to putting feces in his IV bag. She said she did it to get her son moved to another unit at Riley that had better treatment.

Doctors say the boy could have died from septic shock.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed and at least seven others injured in a drive-by shooting Friday night at a warehouse complex in north Harris County.

It happened in the 500 block of Smart Street. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the victims were Hispanic men in their 20s. They were ambushed while making a rap music video in the parking lot.

Among the six injured, one was shot in the head and the other in the rear. Two were pronounced dead at the scene and one was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The condition of the other victims is not known, but they remain hospitalized.

Dozens of numbered crime scene markers were placed around the scene, which is near the corner of Smart Street and Berwyn Drive.

According to the Sheriff's Office, there may be more victims who left the scene looking for medical help. And at this point, it's not clear if the victims knew the suspects or what may have motivated the shooting.

Investigators haven't released any suspect descriptions yet.

Rapper and Nashville native David "Young Buck" Brown was arrested in Cheatham County on a fugitive of justice charge for child abandonment out of Georgia.

Brown was taken into custody on Dec. 20 after an officer pulled over a driver of a black Ford F-150 who appeared to be talking on his cell phone while driving. The officer identified the driver and Brown, who was a passenger.

The officer said the vehicle smelled like marijuana when he approached it. When asked by the officer if there was marijuana in the truck, Brown reportedly handed him a rolled joint and said it was his.

A computer check through dispatch showed Brown had a full extradition warrant out of Newton County, Georgia for child abandonment. Brown was placed in custody before police conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.

During the search, officers found a clear baggy containing approximately three grams of marijuana on the passenger side of the vehicle. Brown told an officer that he tried to hand him the baggy, but it fell between the seat.

Police said Brown was not charged with the marijuana because he was possibly being extradited to Georgia and "very cooperative." A property receipt was written out and the marijuana was placed in a drop box.

Brown was taken to the Cheatham County Jail where he was held without bond.
