Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon is a done deal.
McGregor has signed his bout agreement to fight Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 257 on Jan. 23, McGregor told ESPN on Thursday.
Poirier signed his bout agreement last week, ESPN previously reported.
The fight will be contested at 155 pounds, sources said. The location has yet to be finalized, though UFC president Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto last week that it would take place on "Fight Island" in Abu Dhabi "if everything goes according to plans."
The booking means McGregor will return to action a little over a year after his last fight: a 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone on Jan. 18, 2020. That was supposed to be one of several fights for McGregor in 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic and issues with UFC halted those plans. McGregor was so frustrated earlier this year that he briefly announced his retirement on social media.
He will finally return to action against an opponent he defeated at UFC 178 in 2014 via first-round TKO, Poirier.
Poirier is coming off a unanimous decision win over Dan Hooker in June.
Alex Perez suit shops; champ Deiveson Figueiredo starts his cut. The Shevchenko sisters push hard in the gym. Jennifer Maia celebrates making it onto the poster. Mike Perry and Joaquin Buckley train then discuss a possible future matchup.
Brett Okamoto catches up with Ali Abdelaziz to talk about Khabib Nurmagomedov announcing his retirement following his win vs. Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, whether it's a real retirement amid Khabib's conversations with Dana White, who would be the perfect fight for Khabib if he comes back (Georges St-Pierre), if Conor McGregor would be a good opponent if he beat Dustin Poirier and either Tony Ferguson or Michael Chandler, and more.
Boldy James and Real Bad Man have teamed up for an album titled "Real Bad Boldy," which will be released in the very near future. The lead single off of the project is the Stove God Cooks-assisted "Thousand Pills."
The hip-hop conscience of Rochester, NY Young Black And Gifted return! New single “Lonely At The Top” is some soulful boom-bap at its finest with some justified confidence on their status from the emcee half of the duo, Azariah. Producer Kidd Called Quest provides a phat synth-laced instrumental.

Boosie Badazz went under the knife after getting shot in the leg, but surgeons didn't remove his foot ... and he's already home from the hospital.
Sources close to Boosie tell TMZ ... he did NOT get his foot amputated -- contrary to reports -- but he did have a couple of surgeries for his gunshot wound.
Our sources say Boosie had a procedure to remove bullet fragments, and he had some screws put in to make sure his foot properly heals.
Boosie has diabetes, which led to speculation about potential amputation, but we're told the only medical decisions in relation to his diabetes had to do with his pre-surgery diet.
Our sources say Boosie and his docs had to hammer out a diet to make sure he would be fine while under anesthesia, and Boosie ended up taking 24 hours to decide if he even wanted the procedures done.
As we first told you ... Boosie was shot in the leg over the weekend in Dallas, just days after his friend, Mo3, was killed there last week in a fatal shooting.
Sources tell us Boosie checked out of the Dallas-area hospital Tuesday, and he's currently resting at home and still in pain because the gunshot wound is near his knee.
We're told Boosie's going to be off his feet for 6 weeks, but he still has both of them.

COCOA, Fla. (AP) — Video released by a Florida sheriff’s office shows two deputies pulling their weapons and one firing at a car as it drives at him in a shooting that killed two Black teenagers.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office released the video Tuesday after the teenagers’ families and their attorney, famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, demanded more information about last Friday’s events that led to the fatal shooting of A.J. Crooms, 16, and Sincere Pierce, 18.
The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that Deputies Jafet Santiago-Miranda and Carson Hendren were doing a follow-up investigation on what they thought was a stolen car. When they spotted the car, they followed it as it drove through a residential neighborhood and then pulled into the driveway of a home.
Dashcam video shows the deputies, in two different squad cars, getting out of their vehicles as the car they are following starts backing out of the driveway. Santiago-Miranda says repeatedly, “Stop the vehicle.”
The vehicle stops for a few seconds, backs up a bit and then drives in the direction of Santiago-Miranda as the deputy fires his weapon, according to the video.
Santiago-Miranda “was then forced to fire his service weapon in an attempt to stop the deadly threat of the car from crashing into him,” the sheriff’s office Facebook post said.
Crump said Wednesday in a tweet that the video shows the teens were terrified and tried to drive around the deputies. Out of harm’s way, Santiago-Miranda moved closer to the car to get a better shot, Crump said.
Crump has previously represented the families of Trayvon Martin, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Jacob Blake.
The deputies involved in the fatal shooting have been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Meanwhile, scores of protesters carrying signs that said “Who Do You Call When Police Murder?” and “Prosecute the Police,” walked along a busy road in Cocoa on Wednesday evening, chanting “Justice for A.J. Justice for Spud,” a nickname for Pierce.
ENCINO, Calif. - Bobby Brown Jr., the 28-year-old son of singer Bobby Brown, died Wednesday in Encino, police said.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a report of an unspecified medical emergency in the 5200 block of White Oak Avenue, near Ventura Boulevard, about 1:50 p.m., Officer Jeff Lee said.
Bobby Brown Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, Lee said. Police are not conducting a criminal investigation, as no foul play is suspected.
TMZ reported that Brown Jr. was found in his home and that his mother is Kim Ward, who Bobby Brown dated before he became engaged to Whitney Houston.
Brown's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, who he had with Houston, died at the age of 22 in 2015.
She was found in January of that year unconscious in her home's bathtub in Roswell, Georgia and died several months later after being taken off a ventilator and put into hospice care.
