As a COVID-19 vaccine looms, Uncle Sam wants to make sure you don't throw your money away on a bogus miracle cure -- and, as it turns out, there's a lot already out there.

It's inevitable ... criminals will peddle fake vaccines online and elsewhere. When money can be made and people are desperate, the combination is perfect for crooks.

The Food and Drug Administration has gotten ahead of snake oil salesmen who've been trying to peddle fake coronavirus-related products in recent months -- even going so far as to throw images of these junk items onto Flickr, so you can see them up close.

The FDA also says it's already issued warning letters to the vendors associated with these fraudulent medicines while keeping a watchful eye out for more, adding ... "The FDA is exercising its authority to protect consumers from firms selling unapproved products and making false or misleading claims, including, by pursuing warning letters, seizures, injunctions or criminal prosecutions against products and firms or individuals that violate the law."

As for the items themselves, boy some are ridiculous ... corn and cheese, making ya wonder how anyone could be so stupid as to buy them. Thing is ... people do.

Here's a brief list of some of the goofiest ones that caught our eye, and which the FDA flagged as phony.

-- Virus Bioshield, from a firm called "Rats Army." It's an oil-like substance, with claims it's full of vitamins, antioxidants and helpful minerals, and which "Exhibits antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties," "Suppresses tumor growth," "Increases vaccine effectiveness," "Protects against oxidative damage," among other things.

-- Biomagnetism Magnetic Therapy DIY Kits: FDA says this is a fraudulent product claiming to be able to prevent, treat, mitigate, diagnose or cure COVID-19. Not so!!!

-- StayWell Copper: Literally a little metal sheet that the FDA says is also claiming to be able to rid oneself of the 'rona, but they busted these guys back in May.

-- COVID-19 Cough Syrup: This one might be the silliest of all. It's a honey bear bottle emptied out and filled with some dark liquid gunk, with a crappy label slapped on the cap that reads, "COVID-19." If we must say it ... DO. NOT. BUY. THIS.

Feel free to click through and see the rest of the too-good-to-be-true "cures" the FDA wants you to be wary of (there's a lot). And, like they suggest, take caution as we get into the vaccine phase of the 'rona. If it isn't FDA-approved, it ain't legit.

Fourteen months removed from the ring following recovery from a scary car crash, Errol Spence Jr. looked better than ever before in a strong case for consideration as the best 147-pound fighter in the world.

Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) made a successful defense of his IBF and WBC welterweight titles with a thorough clinic of former two-division champion Danny Garcia inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. All three judges favored Spence via scores of 116-112 (twice) and 117-111. CBS Sports also scored it for Spence, 118-110.

In his third straight headlining role atop a pay-per-view card, the 30-year-old Spence showed no signs of ill effect after flipping his Ferrari multiple times before being ejected from the vehicle last October. Despite an arrest for DWI, Spence survived the ordeal without any broken bones and might've produced the best performance of his career against Garcia (36-3, 21 KOs).

"I proved to myself that I am the best 147-pounder in the world," Spence said. "Danny Garcia pushed me to the limits, especially in training. He's a great champion and I knew I would be 100 percent ready. That's why I chose him."

Spence relied on his jab throughout to cause swelling under Garcia's left eye. He also landed the harder shots throughout and avoided getting into any kind of trouble against his heavy-fisted opponent. He also outlanded Garcia, 187 to 117, according to CompuBox.

"He was just the better man tonight. No excuses," Garcia said. "I fought a hard, tough fight. He had a difficult jab and I think that was the key to the fight. I didn't have a great jab. He had a great jab and that was the difference in the fight. He landed it better than me."

Garcia was game throughout and was responsible defensively. Yet as the fight began to slip away in the second half with the need for something dramatic rising, Garcia was seemingly unwilling to take the risk as he slowly wilted.

Spence adjusted to any form of rallying Garcia had in the middle rounds by switching off his jab to score repeatedly with a lead left hand that took away Garcia's right-handed version, which had been his only consistent punch. Spence also targeted the body repeatedly with his hard left cross, particularly in the later rounds while Garcia faded.

Video After The Jump

ENID, Okla. — An Oklahoma man accused of gunning down a Black woman over the weekend told detectives he did it to “teach her a lesson” and said he was glad he’d done it, authorities said.

Shane Dale Perosi, 30, of Enid, is charged with first-degree murder in the death Sunday of Martika Ferguson. Perosi is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and destruction of evidence.

Enid police officials said officers were called Sunday afternoon to an alleyway, where residents of the neighborhood had spotted Ferguson, 27, of Enid, lying on the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation led detectives to Perosi’s house, where they served a no-knock warrant Tuesday. During the execution of the search warrant, evidence was found that tied him to Ferguson’s death.

“During an interview with Perosi, he confessed he shot and killed Ferguson,” police officials said in a news release. “Perosi said he’d done so to teach her a lesson.”

It was unclear what lesson Perosi believed Ferguson needed to learn, or if race was a factor in the killing. Perosi is white.

“During his booking at the Garfield County Detention Facility, Perosi again reiterated he had murdered Ferguson and said he was glad he’d done so,” authorities said.

Police officials did not say if Ferguson and Perosi knew one another before the shooting.

Detectives worked more than 280 hours on the case as of Wednesday. Enid police Capt. Scott Miller praised the detectives’ work.

“They did a very good job, were very persistent and conducted a non-stop investigation,” Miller said in a statement. “They brought closure to the victim’s family and have made our community safer with the arrest of their suspect.”

Perosi remained in the county jail Friday. The investigation into Ferguson’s death is ongoing.

A prison officer who was caught smuggling drugs into Erlestoke Prison in Wiltshire, England where she worked has had her sentence increased.

The increased sentence follows an intervention by the Solicitor General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP.

Hannah Gaves, 27, was a prison officer at HMP Erlestoke in January 2019. After receiving information that Gaves was smuggling illicit items into the prison, she was searched and found to be in possession of some cannabis, cigarettes and 6.05g of crack cocaine.

Gaves admitted possession of the cigarettes and cannabis but denied knowledge of the cocaine.

But Lord Justice Davis said: "That was not the whole truth because, when she was searched, not only was a quantity of cannabis and five packets of tobacco (found) ... in addition, and hidden in her underwear, was a lump of a white substance wrapped in cling film."

In a police interview, she stated that she felt under pressure from an individual who would harm her if she did not smuggle in the contraband. She refused to name the individual concerned.

Gaves pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs, as well as attempting to bring List C prohibited articles into a prison.

She was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on August 28 at Salisbury Crown Court.

The sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme. Today, the sentence was found to be unduly lenient and increased to four years’ and eight months’ imprisonment.

After the hearing at the Court of Appeal the Solicitor General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, said: “Gaves intentionally smuggled contraband into prison with the intention of supplying dangerous drugs.

“She betrayed the trust inherent in her office. The decision by the Court of Appeal to increase her sentence today was the right one.”

Jeremih has beat COVID!!! He's been released from the hospital and is at home recovering ... TMZ has learned.

Jeremih tells TMZ, "First and foremost, I would like to thank God and the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for saving my life. I will be forever grateful."

The R&B singer goes on ... "I would also like to thank my family and friends for all their prayers and well wishes. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. A special thanks to Chance The Rapper, 50 Cent and Diddy for their love and support."

Those prayers from other artists and friends may have been just what the doctor ordered. As we reported, there was a time last week when it looked like Jeremih wouldn't make it. He was on a ventilator in ICU last weekend, when 50, Chance and others asked for prayers on Jeremih's behalf.

50 made it clear a week ago, things were not looking good ... "Pray for my boy Jeremih. He's not doing good. This COVID s*** is real."

Jeremih says, "I would like to thank all my fans and people around the world who prayed for me. I'm getting stronger everyday, and look forward to spending time with my sons."

Thank God ... literally.

On Saturday night, Errol Spence Jr. will return to the boxing ring for the first time since his horrific car accident in October 2019. Spence will put his WBC and IBF welterweight world titles on the line against former two-division champ Danny Garcia in a Fox pay-per-view main event.

Spence (26-0, 21 KO) is one of boxing's brightest stars and biggest talents. A combination of his one-vehicle accident and the global COVID-19 pandemic has kept him out of the ring after a thrilling fight with Shawn Porter that stood out as one of boxing's best in 2019. With the boxing world hoping to see a unification showdown between Spence and Terence Crawford, Spence will first have to get through a talented former champion in Garcia.

Garcia (36-2, 21 KO) started his career 33-0 before losing two of his next three fights, decision defeats at the hands of Porter and Keith Thurman. He has since got back in the win column with wins over lower-tier opposition to place himself back in position to battle for a world championship. He is a former WBA and WBC junior welterweight champion and also held the WBC title at welterweight.

Love gone terribly wrong: Russian YouTuber Stas Reeflay (real name Stanislav Reshetnikov) has been arrested after a live broadcast showed him abusing his pregnant girlfriend until she ended up dying.

Specifically, Reeflay is accused of forcing Valentina Grigoryeva — who was in the early stages of pregnancy — onto his Moscow-area balcony in freezing cold temperatures wearing only her underwear.

According to a report from The Sun, this is not the first time he has abused his girlfriend, and he allegedly does such heinous acts for money donated by his viewers. The outlet details he received around $1,000 to film the effects of the harsh weather on Grigoryeva.

“Valya, are you alive? My bunny, what’s up with you,” he allegedly said in the footage, after taking her back inside out of the cold. “Valya, Valya, damn, you look like you are dead.”

He then told viewers he could not feel her heartbeat or pulse. While trying to revive her, he told her he loved her (while shockingly still capturing everything on video). When paramedics arrived, she was reportedly dead, but he allegedly kept the broadcast going for another two hours.

Temperatures in Moscow are currently hovering in the low 20s, according to weather reports. If Grigoryeva is found to have died of hypothermia, Reeflay could be on the hook for some serious charges, including possibly a couple years in jail.

“Information will also be checked about possible unlawful actions against the deceased by the young man in whose house the body was found,” said the Russian Investigative Committee, according to the outlet.

The Sun also reported that Reeflay had doused Grigoryeva with pepper spray in a previous broadcast, and that a friend of the deceased said that she had been a victim of his cruelty repeatedly.

Reeflay’s channel has been deactivated. Local outlets are mixed in their reports, with some saying that Grigoryeva was banished to the balcony after a fight between the two and not because he was paid to document her suffering.

Boosie Badazz is taking his beef with Mark Zuckerberg to court ... he says Instagram banned his account because he's Black, so now he's suing over it.

The Louisiana rapper claims he was the victim of racial discrimination when IG put him in social media timeout back in August, and he says he's suing the multi-billionaire Facebook and IG owner for $20 million.

Boosie told Vlad TV the IG ban caused some of his business ventures to tank. He says the $20 million figure is what he lost when his original account was deactivated. It doesn't appear he's actually filed the suit yet.

Remember ... Boosie made a plea to Mark "Zuckinberger" this summer when his IG shut him down for repeatedly violating certain policies. If you followed Boosie on the 'gram, you know his old page was bootylicious ... although IG's never said exactly why it deleted his account.

Boosie thinks Zuck might be holding a grudge and trying to get revenge because he mispronounced his name in an epic rant.

As for the racial element ... Boosie claims he's being discriminated against because of his skin color, saying there's a lot of other folks -- presumably white -- who got their Instagram pages back after being banned for way worse stuff.

Boosie's since made a new account but he's still not happy. He says he can't go live on his new page and it's "f*cking up my income."

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — A man who fled a drug conspiracy charge in Nebraska 35 years ago has been arrested in Florida, where he was living under a false identity, authorities said.

Howard D. Farley Jr., 72, was arrested Wednesday at his north Florida home, according to court records. He faces a passport charge in Ocala federal court and up to 10 years in prison.

According to a criminal complaint, Farley applied for a passport in February using the name, birth date and Social Security number of a person who had died as an infant in 1955.

In 1985, Farley and 73 others were indicted by a federal grand jury in Nebraska. Prosecutors identified Farley as the “drug kingpin” of the Southern Line, a railroad line that drug dealers used to move narcotics throughout the U.S. Records show that Farley was the only defendant not apprehended in the case.

Fingerprints confirmed Farley's identity after his arrest this week, officials said.

Online court records didn't list an attorney for Farley.

Forget Brad Pitt, there's a new "Fight Club" in town -- and this time, it's Snoop Dogg calling the shots!

The rapper has teamed up with Triller co-owner Ryan Kavanaugh to launch a brand new pro boxing league called "The Fight Club" ... and we're told there's already a blockbuster event in the works!

TMZ Sports was talking with Kavanaugh about Snoop's wildly entertaining performance as a commentator at the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. fight ... when Ryan dropped the bombshell on us.

"This was the first event of a league that we have called 'The Fight Club,'" Kavanaugh said.

"It's a league owned by Proxima, which is the parent company to Triller and Snoop, and this was the first of many, many events."

Kavanaugh says Snoop is a co-owner of the league -- plus, he'll be doing fight commentary and helping book the fights and musical acts!

"This is gonna be big," Kavanaugh says ... "The whole idea is we want to change up the way that boxing is done."

The plan is for "The Fight Club" to put on both sanctioned fights and non-sanctioned fights ... basically, like the Mike Tyson card.

Kavanaugh says he's already got a MAJOR sanctioned fight in the works involving some huge stars.

"I can tell you that the main fight — I can't say it yet — but it’s gonna be something that everybody wants to see. If you thought [Tyson vs. Jones Jr.] is big, I think that this would be even larger from a worldwide-appetite perspective and something that people want to see."

Kavanaugh says the undercard will be stacked too -- they're currently looking at social media stars, actors, musicians, athletes and pro boxers to get in on the action.

And of course, SNOOP BACK IN THE ANNOUNCER BOOTH!
