MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Fox13) — Chaos broke out outside of the Young Dolph celebration Thursday afternoon at the FedExForum, landing multiple men behind bars, according to police.

Memphis Police said that officers noticed a stolen Infiniti Q40 in a parking garage on Beale St. shortly before the Celebration of Life for Young Dolph was set to end.

All three people inside the stolen car were detained and charges against those people were pending late Thursday night, Memphis Police said.

While MPD officers were attending to that situation, a black Mercedes began to speed towards the exit of the garage. Before it could get out, however, it wrecked and hit a pole inside the garage, according to police.

Police said that the driver, 20-year-old Guyland Key, tried to run but was quickly detained.

Officers discovered that Key had nine outstanding warrants. A search of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office database showed that those warrants are for charges such as theft of property, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.

His passenger, 27-year-old Antwon Fynn, had a warrant for Theft of Property $1,000 or less, police said.

Both of those men were arrested at the scene. Officers also reported finding a gun and marijuana.

While all of that chaos was unfolding, officers also noticed another stolen Infiniti Q40, according to the Memphis Police Department.

That car crashed in the 1000 block of Kyle, but those suspects were able to escape officers on foot, police said.

Friday morning, police said that Tonnie Smith, Daniel Banks and a 15-year-old boy were charged with Theft of Property, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent.

According to an affidavit, police saw the stolen vehicle enter the parking garage before three people got out. They began walking toward the entrance, went back to the car, then walked back toward the entrance.

Police took Banks and Smith into custody.

The other person went inside the Forum, but was later located and identified, police said.

Smith had the key fob to the stolen vehicle and Banks had a handgun in his pants, the affidavit said.

The vehicle was towed for further investigation.

A search of the vehicle revealed: a backpack containing two jars of marijuana and two Glock handguns, police said.

Police found a bag of marijuana in the front passenger door, 9 loose rounds of ammunition in a cup holder, one AR-style pistol in the trunk, and a backpack in the trunk containing a box of plastic baggies and a digital scale.

All marijuana tested positive for THC and weighed a total of 85.7 grams, according to the affidavit.

The stolen vehicle was valued at $20,500.

A former U.S. Olympic speed skating champion has been indicted on charges that she fraudulently obtained $10 million in COVID-19 relief aid and used part of the money to help finance a film made by “Lord of the Rings” star Elijah Wood.

Federal prosecutors in Utah say Allison Baver, 41, had filed several applications in April 2020 for Paycheck Protection Program loans, claiming her entertainment company had as many as 430 employees and a monthly payroll of over $4 million.

But prosecutors say the company, Allison Baver Entertainment, had no employees and no monthly payroll. Nonetheless, Baver’s applications were approved and she received a payment of just under $10 million, according to court documents.

A message left with Baver, who lives in Taylorsville, Utah, wasn’t immediately returned. It wasn’t immediately clear whether she had retained an attorney.

Prosecutors say Baver used $150,000 of the money to help finance a film called “No Man of God,” that was produced by Wood’s production outfit, Company X. The film, about the relationship between serial killer Ted Bundy and an FBI special agent, was released earlier this year and starred Wood as the FBI agent.

Baver is listed in the film’s credits as an executive producer and, according to IMDB, had an uncredited role in the film.

A message left with a representative for Wood wasn’t immediately returned.

Baver won a bronze medal with the 3,000-meter U.S. women’s relay team short track speed skating event at the 2010 Winter Olympic games in Vancouver. She also competed in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics.

In 2009, Baver suffered a major leg injury in a collision during a race that nearly ended her career. She has since served as a motivational speaker and worked as a model and actress as well as running her entertainment business which focuses on film and television production, according to her website.

Video After The Jump

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (NBC2) – A Cape Coral man is banned from flying on United Airlines after failing to comply with the federal mask mandate.

Adam Jenne wore a red thong as a mask. He was heading to D.C. from the Fort Lauderdale Airport but got kicked off before the flight could take off.

“I think the best way to illustrate absurdity is with absurdity,” said Jenne.

This is not the first time he’s tried flying with the red panties as a mask.

“Every single flight has been met with different reactions from the flight crew,” said Jenne. “Some with a wild appreciation, others confrontational.”

Ultimately, he makes it to his destination, but not this time. He said he was met by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office after being removed off the plane.

“Eventually, they called TSA and airport security,” said Jenne. “I ended up staying at the gate for about 45 minutes.”

Then he noticed others follow his lead. They took off their masks and walked off the already boarded plane.

“I think it’s a testament to passengers having had enough, citizens having had enough. This is just nonsense,” said Jenne.

The peaceful protest made a statement.

“My intention was not to ruin anybody else’s day,” said Jenne.

United Airlines stands by their employees who confronted Jenne. They released this statement:

“The customer clearly wasn’t in compliance with the federal mask mandate and we appreciate that our team addressed the issue on the ground prior to takeoff, avoiding any potential disruptions on the air.”

Jenne said he’s tired of the mask mandate, and he doesn’t think it makes sense.

“It’s all nonsense. COVID doesn’t know that we’re at cruising altitude. It’s stupid. The whole thing is theater,” said Jenne.

Jenne was refunded for his flight and plans to fly again on Thursday.

“Hopefully, Spirit Airlines has a better sense of humor tomorrow,” said Jenne.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A known Orlando-area gang member was sentenced to more than seven years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to three weapons charges earlier this year.

Jacquavius Smith, known in rap music circles as Glokk9 or 9lokknin, was arrested last year for possessing a gun as a convicted felon.

An Orange County judge deemed him a danger to society and denied him bond.

In February, Smith was indicted on federal firearms charges.

He pleaded guilty to three counts in July, including possession of an unregistered firearm, using another person’s identity and committing a crime while on pretrial release.

According to court documents, Smith will serve 87 months in a federal prison, three years of supervised release and drug treatment.

He was also ordered to pay $10,416 in restitution.

Smith still faces racketeering charges in state court, where his trial is slated to begin in March 2022.

He also faces charges of attempted second-degree murder.

Investigators allege the rapper fired a gun into an Orlando home in July. A woman told detectives she was inside with her children at the time. No one was injured. Investigators said that Smith was targeting another rapper, with a witness telling detectives, “9IokkNine wants to be the only rapper coming from Orlando.”

Several months after the shooting, Orange County deputies said Smith was the target of a shooting between a rival gang outside the food court at the Mall at Millenia on Oct. 8, 2020.

The music producer known as Flow La Movie, who'd worked with major reggaeton artists such as Bad Bunny and Ozuna, was one of nine people who died in a plane crash in the Dominican Republic. He was 38.

According to a statement from Helidosa Aviation Group, which operated the aircraft, the Gulfstream jet crashed Wednesday night while attempting to make an emergency landing at Las Americas International Airport in the capital, Santo Domingo.

The aircraft had taken off from another airport on the island and was en route to Miami with two crew members and seven passengers on board, including the producer, born José Ángel Hernández, his wife Debbie Von Marie Jiménez García and 4-year-old son Jayden Hernández.

No details on the cause of the crash were given in the Helidosa statement, which said the company was cooperating with investigators and asked for "care and solidarity to support the affected families who, together with us, are going through this very difficult time."

Hernández produced the global hit "Te Boté," which features Bad Bunny, Nicky Jam and Ozuna. According to his record label, Hernández was also instrumental in the rise of artists such as Nio Garcia, Casper Magico, and D.Ozi.

Tributes poured in from the world of reggaeton music.

Former UFC champion Jon Jones has taken a plea deal in his domestic battery case in Nevada and will serve no jail time, according to online court records.

Jones pleaded nolo contendere to a lesser charge, misdemeanor destroying the property of another, in Las Vegas Justice Court on Tuesday, stemming from a Sept. 24 incident at a Las Vegas Strip resort. Jones must stay out of trouble, pay $750 restitution to the victim and attend anger management counseling, the records stated.

Jones originally was charged with felony tampering with a vehicle and misdemeanor domestic battery. The domestic battery charge was dropped, and Jones pleaded nolo contendere to destroying the property of another. Nolo contendere is a plea where a defendant accepts a conviction, but does not admit guilt.

Jones was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers in the early morning hours of Sept. 24, per the arrest report. When he was taken into custody, Jones "became irate and smashed his head onto the front hood" of a police vehicle, causing a medium-sized dent and paint chipping, according to the report. That led to the initial felony charge of injuring or tampering with a vehicle.

The police were called by a security guard at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino who encountered a crying woman inside the hotel. The woman told the security guard she was afraid to go back to her room and was taken to the security office. The woman told police that Jones was a "little" physical with her, touching the back of her head and pulling her hair. She said Jones didn't hit her, though officers saw blood on the women's clothing and a bump on her lip with dried blood. The woman said her lips were very dry. Police also observed blood on the bed sheets inside the hotel room, according to the report.

Jones told police that he never touched the woman and had a hard time remembering some points of the night, the report stated.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — The remaining members of a missionary group who were kidnapped 2 months ago have been freed, Haitian police & the group said Thursday.

The spokesman for Haiti’s National Police, Gary Desrosiers, confirmed that the remaining hostages had been released.

“We glorify God for answered prayer — the remaining 12 hostages are FREE!” Christian Aid Ministries said in a statement. “Join us in praising God that all 17 of our loved ones are now safe.”

The Ohio group said it hopes to provide more information later.

“We’re feeling great,” said Ron Marks, minister at Hart Dunkard Brethren Church in Michigan, whose members included some of the hostages.

Carleton Horst, a member of Hart Dunkard Brethren Church in Hart, Michigan, where five of the hostages are members, said church members received a text message Thursday morning from “someone connected to the situation” that all of the hostages had been released.

A mother & 4 of her children who belong to the congregation were among the hostages. Horst, who is friends with the family, said the church is rejoicing & he’s “elated that that portion of things is finally over, just praise the Lord for that.”

The missionaries were kidnapped by the 400 Mawozo gang on Oct. 16. There were 5 children in the group of 16 U.S. citizens & 1 Canadian, including an 8-month-old. Their Haitian driver also was abducted, according to a local human rights organization.

Two of the hostages were released in November & 3 more earlier this month. They were not identified, but members of the Hart congregation told local media in Michigan two were from Hart.

In addition to Michigan, the hostages are from Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Oregon & Ontario, Canada.

“Today is the day we have been hoping for, praying for & working so hard to achieve,” said Congressman Bill Huizenga, whose western Michigan congressional district includes Hart. “I want to thank members of the hostage negotiation team for their diligence in securing the safe release of all the hostages. This is a great day for families in Michigan & across the nation who have been worried about the safety of their loved ones.”

The leader of the 400 Mawozo gang had threatened to kill the hostages unless his demands were met. Authorities have said the gang was demanding $1 million per person, although it wasn’t clear if that included the children.

It remained unclear Thursday whether any ransom was paid or what efforts led to their freedom.
