Texas Gov. Greg Abbott identified the gunman in an elementary school shooting that left at least 14 students and one teacher dead as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos during a press conference Tuesday.

The shooting took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, the town where Ramos was from, according to Abbott.

“It is believed he abandoned his vehicle and entered into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde with a handgun and he may have also had a rifle but that is not yet confirmed according to my most recent report,” Abbott said.

Ramos is now dead, according to Abbott, and it is believed that responding officers killed him.

Ramos also allegedly shot his grandmother, ABC News reported.

At least 14 students and one teacher were killed when a gunman opened fire at an elementary school in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott said Tuesday. Abbott said the shooter is also dead, and is believed to have been killed by responding law enforcement officers.

Abbott's statement comes after the district reported an active shooter at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, which is approximately an hour and a half west of San Antonio.

The Uvalde Memorial Hospital previously said it received 13 children from ambulance and buses for treatment, and that two people who arrived at the hospital were deceased. A second hospital said it is caring for one child and one adult. That hospital, University Health, said a 66-year-old woman is in critical condition.

South Texas Blood and Tissue said it sent 15 units of blood to Uvalde on Tuesday.

Though the details of the shooting are unclear, the district said that there had been an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District — located about an hour and a half west of San Antonio — tweeted that there is "an active shooter at Robb Elementary," adding, "Law enforcement is on site. Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus. As soon as more information is gathered it will be shared."

At approximately 2:00 p.m. local time, the district said parents were cleared to pick up their children at the local civic center.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (News4Jax) – Abdul Robinson Sr. has been charged with being an accessory to the murders of Charles McCormick and Damon Rothermel, has been transferred to St Johns County Jail, court documents show.

In filings this week, the state attorney’s office has informed his sons — Hakeem Robinson and Abdul Robinson Jr. — that their father is now cooperating with prosecutors, and has given statements in the murders of Charles McCormick and Damon Rothermel.

Inmates who cooperate with the prosecution are often transferred to other county jails for their safety.

Hakeem Robinson, a Jacksonville rapper who’s also known as Ksoo, is charged in the 2020 murder of rival rapper Charles McCormick. Abdul Robinson Jr. is among those charged in the 2019 murder of Damon Rothermel, who was killed by a stray bullet fired in an exchange of gunfire between two cars.

In March, Hakeem Robinson was indicted on a first-degree murder charge.

Hakeem Robinson and Abdul Robinson Jr. remain in the Duval County jail, awaiting trial.

Abdul Robinson Sr.’s case has been reset for a status conference Aug. 15.

WARSAW, Ind. (AP) - The Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office confirms an investigation is underway involving a pastor at a local church.

Pastor John Lowe II told his Indiana congregation that he had committed “adultery” about 20 years ago, a disclosure that was followed moments later by a woman who stepped forward & said she was victimized by him when she was 16 years old.

The remarks were recorded on video Sunday at New Life Christian Church and World Outreach in Warsaw & posted on Facebook.

Lowe told his congregation: “I committed adultery.”

“It was nearly 20 years ago,” he said. “It continued far too long. It involved 1 person & there’s been no other. I have no defense. ... I sinned. I need to say that & you deserve to hear it.”

Lowe got a standing ovation. But then a woman walked up to the microphone with her story.

“It was 27 years ago, not 20. ... I was just 16 when you took my virginity on your office floor. Do you remember that? I know you do,” she said.

She said the “lies & the manipulation have to stop.”

“I was a prisoner, and you kept me in your prison,” she said as Lowe stood near. “I’m a prisoner no longer.”

Some people then shouted questions at Lowe. He admitted having sex with the woman when she was a teenager.

“It was wrong. I can’t make it right,” Lowe said.

A few dozen people walked up to encircle & support him as another man led a prayer.

Lowe told the congregation that he was stepping down from his role as pastor.

HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with the death of her 8-year-old daughter as well as injuries to the girl’s twin sister. The couple is accused of not providing adequate nutrition & abusing both girls over an extended period of time.

Ruben Moreno, 29, and Soledad Mendoza, 29, are each charged with capital murder of a child under 10 years of age & 2 counts of injury to a child. They both were arrested on May 20 without incident.

On Dec. 21, 2020, officers responded to a welfare check at Memorial Hermann - Memorial City Hospital in regards to the death of a child. They learned that the Houston Fire Department paramedics had taken the child to the hospital with multiple injuries & bruises. 

When an investigator arrived, they saw that the child’s body had several bruises on the legs, swollen ankles & looked extremely underweight for her age. The child allegedly only weighed 29 pounds and was extremely malnourished & unkempt.

During the investigation, detectives learned the girl showed signs of malnutrition/starvation & multiple injuries, such as chronic rib fractures. An autopsy also revealed that the child had acute & chronic blunt force injuries to her back & legs. She also had bruising a injuries on her head, upper body, torso & lower body, including an array of fractures from weeks prior to her death.

The surviving twin received care at a hospital the day after her sister’s death. According to the child injury charge, the twin girl only weighed 26.4 lbs, which was in the 0th percentile for children of the same age.

Court documents reveal that there were 2 other siblings in the household that were seemingly in perfect health.

Isaiah Lee, the man who charged comedian Dave Chappelle while he was on stage performing at the Hollywood Bowl on May 4, has revealed his reasoning for the attack in a jailhouse interview with The New York Post, claiming that his jokes about the transgender & homeless communities triggered him.

Lee, 23-years-old, rushed the stage and tackled the comedian before he was swarmed by the venue's security staff at the "Netflix Is A Joke" event. He was taken away from the scene via stretcher after he sustained several injuries in the scuffle. Chappelle was uninjured, though Lee was armed with a replica handgun which contained a knife blade.

He told The Post that he was not holding the weapon as he ran onstage.

In the aftermath of the incident, to which Lee has since pleaded not guilty & despite avoiding felony charges, Lee faces 4 misdemeanor charges.

Lee claimed that, "I identify as bisexual & I wanted him to know what he said was triggering."

"I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect," he continued. "I'm also a single dad & my son is 5. It's a struggle & I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it's not a joke."

Chappelle's jokes about the transgender community have been a source of conflict in the past, as in late 2021, dozens of Netflix employees staged a walkout to protest comments the comedian made in his special titled "The Closer."

Lee has been held since the incident occurred, with a local judge recently denying his request for a reduced bail, which is currently set at $30,000.

On Friday, Lee was also charged with attempted murder, after investigators learned that Lee has allegedly stabbed a former transitional housing facility roommate in Dec. 2021.

Tokyo (CBS News) — President Joe Biden said Monday the U.S. would intervene militarily if China were to invade Taiwan, in one of the most forceful & overt statements of American government support for Taiwan in decades. Mr. Biden said the burden to protect the self-ruled island was "even stronger" after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking at a joint news conference in Tokyo with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Mr. Biden was asked, "Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?"

He replied, simply, "Yes."

"That's the commitment we made," Mr. Biden said. "We agree with a 'One China' policy. We signed onto it & all the attendant agreements made from there. But the idea that it [Taiwan] could be taken by force, just taken by force, it's just not — it's just not appropriate. It'll dislocate the entire region & be another action similar to what happened in in Ukraine. And so it's, it's a burden that is even stronger."

The president then said U.S. "policy towards Taiwan has not changed at all," stressing his government's commitment to "the peace & stability across the Taiwan Strait & ensuring that there's no unilateral change to the status quo."

Mr. Biden said it was his "expectation" that China would not try to seize control of Taiwan by force, but he added that "a lot of it depends upon just how strong the world makes clear that that kind of action is going to result in long term disapprobation by the rest of the [international] community."

The president said Beijing was "flirting with danger" with recent military flights close to Taiwan.

Beijing was quick to respond, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin warning: "No one should underestimate the firm resolve, staunch will & strong ability of the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty & territorial integrity."

LAKELAND, Fla. (Fox6Now) - The Polk County Sheriff's office arrested a woman they say called 911 and assaulted restaurant workers because her McDonald's order was wrong.

Tianis Jones, 22, was arrested Friday evening. Polk County deputies said Jones went too far over a mistake with her McDonald's drive thru order.

According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, something was wrong with Jones’ order, so employees asked her to pull up to the third window. Instead, Judd said Jones parked & went inside the Lakeland McDonald's.

Surveillance video shows Jones becoming increasingly displeased with the service, despite workers offering to fix the issues as well as return her money.

Jones became so angry she called 911 to complain that McDonald’s had gotten her order wrong.

Jones went behind the counter and started throwing things. She lifted a sleeve of cups and threw them at employees and into the dining room.

"I don't know what was wrong with her that night," Judd said. "I don't know if she was two fries short of a Happy Meal, but she created a McMess and acted like a McNut… she ended up a McBurglar."

Jones was arrested on burglary with assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and misuse of 911 charges, according to the sheriff's office.

Charges have been dropped against the teenage rapper accused of shooting an NYPD officer during a scuffle in the Bronx earlier this year.

The gun & assault case against Camrin Williams, a 16-year-old reputed gangbanger and rapper who goes by the stage name C Blu, “cannot be prosecuted,” the city Law Department said in a Friday statement.

Williams had been facing the charges after allegedly shooting 27-year-old cop Kaseem Pennant in the leg in January while he was on probation for a prior gun case.

Bronx Supreme Court Justice Denis Boyle set the up-and-coming rapper’s bond at $250,000, in February, which Williams posted, reportedly with an advance he received after signing a recording contract with Interscope Records.

One week after he made bail, Williams was hauled back into juvenile court for violating his probation.

But Williams’ fortunes changed this week when his latest case was dropped.

“Just because the city cannot prosecute doesn’t mean this individual should have been carrying an illegal weapon — a weapon which contributed to both him & an officer being shot,” the Law Department said.

“Pursuant to Family Court Law, the case is now sealed & we are unable to say more about the matter.”

NYPD Police Benevolent Association President Patrick J. Lynch called the decision to drop the charges against Williams “absurd.”

“This absurd decision should outrage every New Yorker who wants to get illegal guns off our streets. There is no dispute that this individual was caught carrying an illegal gun for the second time. If perps like this face absolutely no consequences, even after shooting a cop, we have to ask: why bother sending us out to get the guns at all?”

According to police, Williams’ gun went off while he was tussling with the officer after cops responded to a disorderly crowd on Lorillard Place on January 19.

Williams — a member of the Reywey Crew, a subset of the Crips – stepped toward a white car & put his hands in his pockets, cops said. When police asked him to show his hands, he refused, which led to the struggle.

He was previously arrested in the Bronx in May 2020, when he was just 14, for possession of a Tauris firearm.

Officials in Florida have announced charges against 2 people involved in an arrest attempt at a gas station that went horribly wrong after a Taser ignited a fiery explosion: the deputy & the injured man himself.

Jean Barreto, 27, has been in the hospital since he was “cooked alive,” his lawyer Mark NeJame said. Barreto reportedly suffered third-degree burns on around 75 percent of his body, front & back, from his feet to the bottom of his neck.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez announced the charges against Barreto & Deputy David Crawford.

Barreto, Lopez said, was part of a group of people driving motorbikes recklessly on roads in Osceola County. Lopez said that Barreto was identified as a suspect. A helicopter followed overhead as Barreto allegedly drove the wrong way down the road & ran red lights.

Deputies tried to arrest him as he refueled at the Wawa station. A struggle ensued & Barreto’s bike was knocked over, spilling fuel on him. That’s when a deputy allegedly used a Taser to try to subdue Barreto.

The Taser ignited a huge fire, captured on video from the helicopter that appeared to show both Barreto & the deputy engulfed in flames.

Crawford, the deputy, will be charged with culpable negligence.

“He was aware there was gas in the immediate area, he says ‘kill the pump, there’s gas,’ he then grabbed a discarded taser & told the suspect, ‘you’re about to get tased again dude,'” Lopez said. “His actions were reckless & the disregard for life rises to the level of culpable negligence.”

NeJame said that Barreto has spent 10 weeks in the hospital & is still undergoing “potentially life saving but excruciating painful treatment.”

“He is without skin on most of his body, his skin having been burned off,” NeJame said, adding that Barreto will be placed in a medically-induced coma in the coming days in order to receive further treatment.
