NEW YORK - Skirmishes broke out between supporters and opponents of President Donald Trump as a Jews For Trump convoy of hundreds of cars draped with American flags and Trump 2020 banners rolled slowly through Manhattan and Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.
The caravan traveled from Coney Island to the Trump Tower in Manhattan before heading to a rally in a Brooklyn park. Videos shared on Twitter showed several protesters pelting the vehicles with eggs or stones, snatching flags and shouting insults.
In one video showing physical fights between several people, police officers detain an unidentified man and protesters chant "let him go." Another video showed a small group of people throwing objects from a Brooklyn highway overpass at vehicles bedecked with Trump flags.
Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani briefly greeted supporters from the passenger seat of a car driving near Trump Tower during the parade, videos show.
New York City police said seven people were taken into custody in connection with physical confrontations in Times Square. Charges were pending Sunday night.
According to the Jews For Trump website, Sunday's rally was intended to show solidarity with "the beleaguered Red Zone community," a reference to the coronavirus hot spots designated by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo as areas where schools and nonessential businesses must close to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The rally follows weeks of tensions in Brooklyn's Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods over the coronavirus restrictions. Heshy Tischler, a City Council candidate and leader of Brooklyn protests against the restrictions, promoted Sunday's car parade on Twitter.
Boris Epshteyn, an adviser to the Trump campaign and co-chair of Jewish Voices for Trump, organized Sunday's rally in Brooklyn's Marine Park at the end of the car parade.

A police officer has been suspended after dragging an underage, black teenager across the pavement ... despite the fact the teen is not resisting.
The incident went down in Mansfield, Ohio earlier this month when Officer Jordan Moore stopped a car driven by the teen's dad. It's unclear why cops stopped the car. The video begins with both father and son on the ground ... surrounded by cops.
You see Moore drag the teen by the back of his hoodie ... from one side of the police car to the other. The kid is fully compliant ... no resistance whatsoever.
Cops then manhandle the dad and aggressively shove him in the squad car as well.
Police Chief Keith Porch says Officer Moore squarely violated department policy. Moore did not give the suspect a warning to comply and he was not resisting. The Chief says Moore's conduct violated Dept. policy, saying, "There was no immediate need or emergency for Officer Moore to take the action of dragging the arrestee."
It's unclear what, if anything, the suspect were charged with. As for Officer Moore, he's suspended with pay until January 11th. He'll undergo training as a condition for his return.

Offset was just put into handcuffs in Los Angeles, this after apparently having some sort of run-in with Trump supporters, who were out and about in force.
The Migos rapper was detained by cops Saturday in Beverly Hills, where he actually live streamed a good majority of the encounter on Instagram. The video starts with Offset having a conversation with some officers who pulled him over. He tells them he's not getting out of the car, and he's not removing his hands from his steering wheel either.
According to him, it sounds like officers might've had their guns drawn ... because somebody claimed Offset had actually waved firearms at people from his own vehicle. Offset disputes that on camera, and says somebody was following him on the street.
Eventually, he's pulled out of the car and put in handcuffs. It's unclear if he was arrested -- we're being told by people directly in his camp that he was NOT, but was detained. Another twist to this ... we're told Offset's car was actually attacked by Trump supporters, which seems to be backed up in video Cardi B posted.
In her video, she and Offset were cruising together in L.A., when they came upon some sort of a caravan going on in support of the President. Cardi captured tons of pick-up trucks with Trump flags and American flags flying ... which she said was freaking her the hell out.
Bev Hills PD says they've arrested Marcelo Almanzar, Cardi's cousin, for possession of a concealed loaded weapon. Offset was only detained, but has been released. His camp says he's on his way home now.
Meanwhile, we're told Cardi is, understandably, concerned about her cousin.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Unbeaten lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from mixed martial arts after stopping Justin Gaethje with a triangle choke early in the second round at UFC 254 on Saturday night.
Nurmagomedov (29-0) made the announcement immediately after he impressively finished his first fight since the death of his father and lifelong coach in July. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov had a heart problem exacerbated by COVID-19, and his son was overcome by tears in the cage moments after choking Gaethje unconscious 1:34 into the second round of his third UFC title defense.
“This is my last fight,” Nurmagomedov said. “There’s no way I’m going to be back without my father. I spoke to my mother. She don’t know how I fight without father, but I promised it’s going to be my last fight, and if I give my word, I have to follow it.”
The 32-year-old Nurmagomedov was active with strikes and with grappling against Gaethje (22-3), the dangerous brawler who had knocked out four consecutive elite opponents while winning the UFC’s interim lightweight title.
After spending the first round largely trading punches and kicks with the aggressive Gaethje, Nurmagomedov used his unparalleled wrestling skills to take down Gaethje early in the second round and then worked into position for the finishing choke.
Gaethje appeared to tap out at least twice before the referee noticed and stopped the bout, by which time Gaethje was unconscious. He bounced up quickly and shared a moment of mutual respect with the dominant Russian champion.
“I know he was in a bad spot, but whether he was or not, he did what he needed to do,” Gaethje said. “I know his father is so proud.”
Also at UFC 254, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker made his case for another title shot with a solid unanimous decision over fellow contender Jared Cannonier in the penultimate bout on Fight Island.
Nurmagomedov’s first fight in 13 months would be an appropriate farewell for one of the most dynamic competitors in recent MMA history. The Dagestan-born grappling specialist developed a well-rounded game under the tutelage of his father and a Bay Area-based MMA gym, culminating in his ascent to the UFC title in 2018.
Nurmagomedov stopped Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier in his next two bouts before his yearlong absence from competition. His victory over McGregor made him one of the world’s most famous combat sports athletes, and the UFC scheduled this pay-per-view show at an earlier-than-normal time to cater to his vast fan base in Russia and Europe.
But Nurmagomedov has spoken of retirement before, and his announcement confirmed he is finished with the sport after running through most of the UFC lightweight division.
“Dustin and Conor are going to fight in January,” Nurmagomedov said, referring to the probable meeting between the former contenders at UFC 257. “I choked them both out. I’m not interested in this.”
Earlier, Whittaker (22-5) gave a disciplined, active performance with impressive striking to earn his second straight UFC victory since losing his title to Israel Adesanya in late 2019.
Capping his effort by dropping Cannonier with a combination midway through the final round, Whittaker won two of three rounds on every scorecard while soundly outstriking Cannonier (13-5), who took his first loss in nearly 2 1/2 years.
Whittaker likely earned a chance at a rematch with Adesanya with the victory, but he didn’t call out the champion after his bout, instead expressing only excitement about returning home to put up his family’s Christmas tree. Whittaker withdrew from a bout with Cannonier scheduled for March in Las Vegas because he felt burned out on MMA.
“I’m very happy it’s all over,” Whittaker said. “We got the result we wanted. Work’s done, baby. I’m coming home.”
Earlier in the show, Russian heavyweight Alexander Volkov stopped Walt Harris with a kick to the chest and punches on the ground 1:15 into the second round. Flyweight Lauren Murphy also bolstered her case for a title shot with a second-round stoppage of Liliya Shakirova by rear naked choke for her fourth straight victory.
UFC 254 was the last of five shows in a month inside the promotion’s secure bubble on Yas Island. The UFC, which paused competition for only eight weeks early in the coronavirus pandemic, returns to its hometown next week to begin a series of at least five consecutive shows on its corporate campus in Las Vegas.
To be blunt, there's not much that the Grammy Award-winning billionaire rapper and entrepreneur doesn't have his hand in. From streaming service founder to music executive to memoir writer, the 50-year-old is adding yet another title to his repertoire.
He launched a cannabis line called Monogram Friday. It's a partnership with California cannabis company Caliva. The website teases glossy shots of marijuana, but gives no information on what it will offer or a release date. Would-be customers can check the site to be "first in line for the drop."
A playlist entitled "Monogram: Sounds From the Grow Room" was also released this week on Jay-Z's streaming service platform, Tidal. It's got Bob Marley, The Beatles and Rihanna.
"Monogram marks a new chapter in cannabis defined by dignity, care and consistency," the site reads. "It is a collective effort to bring you the best, and a humble pursuit to discover what the best truly means."
Although this is his first official line of cannabis with Caliva, Jay-Z joined the company in 2019 as its chief brand strategist.
"We think this is a sea (of) change in terms of the visibility to the industry," Dennis O'Malley, chief executive officer of Caliva, told CNN Business. "We take this partnership with a lot of responsibility, a lot of humility, a lot of accountability moving forward."
While it remains federally illegal, more than half of US states have legalized medical marijuana, with some of those allowing recreational use. While plans to expand the cannabis industry went up in smoke because of the pandemic, others suspect that more states could legalize marijuana in 2021.
In the meantime, there are other familiar names who have taken a hit at the weed industry.
Snoop Dogg, Whoopi Goldberg and even Martha Stewart have all had their own lines.
Murder charges have been filed against a La Marque man accused of ambushing and killing his wife. Trent Paschal, 48, is accused of killing Savannah Paschal on October 21.
“Man, it’s just a big surprise, to me,” said neighbor Donald Riddick. “I had never seen them have an argument.”
However, Riddick said that changed Wednesday morning when the couple was seen arguing. Riddick said Trent Paschal then left the home.
“Savannah had went to the neighbor’s house to ask for help,” said Riddick.
According to court documents filed in Galveston County, later that morning, Savannah Paschal and her mother returned to the home. Investigators said Trent Paschal was hiding in the master bathroom’s shower.
“Trent jumped out of the shower.” court records read. “Trent stated he was going to shoot her and Savannah.”
Investigators said Savannah was shot twice in the stomach while her mother was able to escape. Court documents also said a neighbor recorded Trent Paschal talking on the phone with his wife’s aunt shortly after the shooting.
Investigators said Trent Paschal is heard in the recording “confessing that he shot Savannah.”
Late Wednesday evening, neighbors began sharing a video from YouTube that appears to have been uploaded by Trent Paschal. In the video, Trent Paschal is heard telling his two children he loves them and he is sorry. He later claims infidelity was the source of his torment.
At the end of the video, Trent Paschal appears to try to hide from someone returning to the home.
“I can’t believe he would leave something like that, telling his kids he loved them. How can you love your kids if you’re going to kill their momma,” said Riddick. “He was in there making that video before she came back.”
Riddick said he believes the video was made just before the shooting.

Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris has been indicted in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Shreveport gas station four months ago, local media reported Thursday.
The “A Bay Bay” artist, also known as Christopher Jerron Dooley, was indicted by a Caddo Parish grand jury on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the slaying of 32-year-old Danzeria Ferris Jr., KTAL NBC 6 News reported.
Ferris allegedly was shot several times at a Texaco station in Shreveport early on the morning of June 19.
Dooley, 31, was arrested later that day on one count each of second-degree murder and illegal possession of stolen property, Shreveport Police said in a news release at the time.
Police said the rapper initially claimed he shot a man he believed was trying to steal his vehicle. Video footage appeared to show otherwise, police reportedly said.
Dooley, a Shreveport native, is the godson of former Democratic state Rep. Barbara Norton.
His hit single “A Bay Bay,” from his 2007 album “51/50 Ratchet” has more than 30 million views on YouTube.
Sure, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is alive and well, but the same can't be said right now for his wife ... who hasn't been seen in public since January.
Ri Sol-ju was last with Kim for a public event at the Samjiyon Theatre in Pyongyang during a Lunar New Year celebration, but after she missed a military parade she usually attends on October 10 ... speculation's swirling about why, and where in the hell she is now.
Along with the darkest guess that immediately comes to mind, there are 3 main theories that are less disturbing -- but also maybe less believable.
One is that she's taking care of Kim's aunt who is ill. Another, from experts in South Korea, is that she's afraid of getting sick herself amid the COVID-19 pandemic due to lack of social distancing and masks at events.
And finally, there are reports she stepped out of the public eye to take care of her daughter, who's believed to have been born in 2013.
It should be noted -- about a year ago there was similar concern for Ri after she wasn't seen in public for 4 months, but then she was ... and people speculated she may have given birth.
Of course, it's hard to know what to believe when it comes to North Korea ... as we learned this past summer about her husband.
Khabib cuts weight with help from his team. Robert Whittaker games as usual. Jared Cannonier and Casey Kenney help one another across weight classes. Justin Gaethje pushes himself on the mats.

Adding to more of his legal woes, Nashville rapper Young Buck was arrested in Tennessee Thursday on charges including domestic assault, just days after his girlfriend was arrested for allegedly shooting a gun at him.
The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office said David Darnell Brown, known by his stage name “Young Buck,” is jailed in the county on several charges, including domestic assault, vandalism over $10,000 and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was arrested Thursday and booked into the Sumner County jail on a $60,000 bond. He was still in custody Friday.
Sheriff's Office records also show Brown’s girlfriend, Lucresia Neil was arrested Tuesday on a charge of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon after authorities said she fired shots at him in Hendersonville, Tenn.
Additional details about Young Buck and Neil's arrest were not immediately available.
Jail records show she posted a $3,500 bond and was released that same day.
Brown, 39, was a member of 50 Cent's hip-hop group G-Unit. He has faced legal issues in Middle Tennessee before and was sentenced to seven months in prison in 2016 after he admitted to violating his probation in a verbal assault case involving his then girlfriend.
In December 2019, Young Buck spent his Christmas holiday in Cheatham County jail on a fugitive from justice warrant.
The arrest stemmed from a child abandonment charge Brown faces in Newton County, Georgia, outside of Atlanta, according to Ashland City police.

Cops in New York City and Los Angeles are worried about Election Day protests devolving into chaos ... even though police brass are saying the opposite.
Here's the deal ... NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan and John Miller, the head of intelligence and counterterrorism, are publicly stating there's no specific credible threats for Election Day, but they both say officers will be standing by and fully prepared to protect voters from any funny business.
However, we've learned cops are busy behind-the-scenes preparing for chaos ... in other words, violence and even riots.
A senior NYPD official with direct knowledge of the plan tells TMZ ... hundreds of cops from the reserve force will be primed and ready for possible riots and demonstrations.
We're told the NYPD is especially worried about the areas around Manhattan's Union Square and Flatiron District ... two places that saw riots and looting earlier this year, as well as Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza and Barclays Center.
If Donald Trump wins re-election, we're told the feeling among NYPD's rank and file is riots could occur because lots of folks hate Trump in NYC, his hometown.
We're also told rank and file cops fear Trump protests could start peacefully but spiral out of control when darkness falls, when riots usually pick up. We're told cops are preparing for such chaos with reserve forces.
If Joe Biden wins, we're told cops also think there could be trouble ... but not as bad as a Trump win. The big worry -- protests if Trump contests election results.
Police are preparing for similar scenarios across the country in Los Angeles.
LAPD sources tell TMZ ... cops are anticipating lots of Election Day demonstrations and they're afraid things could take a violent turn if Trump jumps to an early lead at the polls.
If Biden wins, we're told LAPD believes there could be issues but they're more worried about a Trump victory, which could bring more agitation and conflict among protestors.
While the COVID-19 pandemic forced most musicians to a grinding halt, Regina rapper Pimpton has ramped up his output releasing a brand new animated music video for his latest single "ML Pimp" from his upcoming new visual album "TUNNELZ". The Aurélien Offner directed video features an animated Pimpton making his way through the galaxy with his female companion and can be seen online at below!
"TUNNELZ" is a visual album that will be presented as a 35-minute Youtube feature released on Gorilla Clan Records, Pimpton's newly formed independent label. The project took its title from the Tunnels of MooseJaw, which were notoriously known to be used by Al Capone & the mob to smuggle in alcohol during the prohibition era. Aside from the evident link with the Tunnels of MooseJaw, the album title also pays homage to Pimpton’s relentless drive to attain goals by any means necessary, including digging tunnels beneath all obstacles. Joining Pimpton to create this journey into hedonism is Chicago based producer HearonTrackz El who cooked up all the album's pure and unfiltered tracks in the lab. The final mixing and mastering was handled by Patrick “PMCK Studios” MacKenzie who engineered sessions on Drake's “Comeback Season” mixtape. The unholy union of Pimpton's Saskatchewan rhymes mixed with HearonTrackz El's Chicago drill/neo-soul make for a potent combination.
