OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy was charged Wednesday with murder, terrorism and other counts for a shooting that killed four fellow students and injured others at Michigan’s Oxford High School.
Charges against Ethan Crumbley were announced Wednesday, a few hours after authorities reported the death of a fourth teen from the school in southeastern Michigan. Crumbley is charged as an adult with one count of terrorism causing death, four counts of first-degree murder and seven counts assault with intent to murder.
Prosecutor Karen McDonald did not reveal a possible motive for the shooting Tuesday at Oxford High School, located in a community of about 22,000 people roughly 30 miles north of Detroit. However, she said prosecutors are “confident” they can show the crime was premeditated.
“There is a mountain of digital evidence. Videotape, social media, all digital evidence possible,” she said.
Deputies rushed to the school around lunch time and arrested the suspect in a hallway within minutes. He put his hands in the air as deputies approached, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said late Tuesday at a news conference.
The boy’s father on Friday bought the 9 mm Sig Sauer used in the shooting, Bouchard said. He did not know why the man bought the semi-automatic handgun, which his son had been posting pictures of and practicing shooting, Bouchard said.
The four students who were killed were identified as 16-year-old Tate Myre, 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana, 17-year-old Madisyn Baldwin and 17-year-old Justin Shilling, who died Wednesday.

HERNDON, Va. (Fox5 DC) - Herndon police have released surveillance video of two men linked to a shooting at a busy downtown bar.
It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Sully’s Pourhouse in the 700 block of Elden Street. Police say the men were angry they couldn’t bring two young children with them inside the bar.
Police say after an altercation with bar staff, the men left. Surveillance video shows them running by the front doors & one of the men opening fire.
Video from inside the bar shows the bullet shattering the glass door and barely missing an employee who was standing nearby.
"We’re so lucky nobody was hurt," said Herndon Police spokeswoman Lisa Herndon.
"The biggest thing here is there were children there & I don’t think that anybody in our community wants children at such a young age to have to deal with this," Herndon said.

HALLSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A hunter accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old daughter while they were hunting near their East Texas hometown, investigators said Monday.
In a statement, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Marshall, Texas, said it received multiple reports shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday of a hunting accident just east of Hallsville, Texas. Callers said a Hallsville man accidentally shot his daughter Daisy Grace Lynn George with a high-powered rifle while hunting.
Sheriff B.J. Fletcher said the pair had returned to the father’s truck where he tried to clear the hammer of his rifle. He had believed the firearm was no longer loaded when he dropped the hammer, but a round was still chambered, the sheriff said.
“He had thought he had cleared the gun, but unfortunately, he hadn’t,” Fletcher said. The rifle discharged, striking the girl as she was either about to get into the truck or had just gotten into the truck," Fletcher said.
Low clouds grounded a requested helicopter airlift, so an ambulance transported the girl 12 miles to a Longview hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Fletcher said there was nothing to suggest the shooting was anything but a tragic accident. “Any time a young person loses their life, it’s tragic for everybody involved,” he said.
Fletcher said he hopes the incident will bring light to the need to exercise gun safety.
The case will be reviewed by the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office, Fletcher said.
The sheriff’s office is working with other agencies, including Texas Parks and Wildlife, to perform the investigation & conduct interviews.
Grief counselors have been coordinated for faculty & students at the girl’s school.

New York (CNN Business) CNN is suspending prime time anchor Chris Cuomo "indefinitely, pending further evaluation," after new documents revealed the cozy and improper nature of his relationship with aides to his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Tuesday's announcement about the suspension was the equivalent of a cable news shockwave. Cuomo's 9 p.m. program is frequently CNN's most-watched hour of the day. He is a larger-than-life presence at the network. And he was determined to stay on TV this year despite a flurry of sexual misconduct allegations against his brother, which culminated in the governor's resignation three months ago.
But new documents released on Monday showed that the veteran journalist was more intimately involved than previously known in shaping his brother's defense.
"The New York Attorney General's office released transcripts & exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo's involvement in his brother's defense," a CNN spokesperson said. "The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions."
"When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother's staff, he broke our rules & we acknowledged that publicly," the spokesperson continued. "But we also appreciated the unique position he was in & understood his need to put family first & job second."
"However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother's efforts than we previously knew," the spokesperson added. "As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation."
The documents released by New York Attorney General Letitia James included text messages & transcripts of interviews with investigators who led the probe into allegations against the governor.
The cache of documents included text messages between Chris Cuomo & Melissa DeRosa, a then-top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, that suggested he was instrumental in working to craft a defense against a flood of sexual misconduct allegations.
The text messages also revealed that Chris Cuomo sought to use his connections in the press to help prepare the then-governor's team as accusers started to make their stories public.

The wife of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was sentenced Tuesday to 3 years in prison after pleading guilty to helping her husband run his multibillion-dollar criminal empire.
Emma Coronel Aispuro also helped her husband plan a dramatic escape through a tunnel dug underneath a prison in Mexico in 2015 by smuggling a GPS watch to him disguised as a food item, prosecutors said during a hearing in federal court in Washington. That helped those digging the tunnel pinpoint his location & reach him. The leader of the Sinaloa cartel was recaptured the following year.
Prosecutors had asked for four years in prison, but U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras imposed a shorter term, saying her role was a small piece of a much larger organization. Her arrest doesn’t seem to have reduced the harm caused by the cartel, he said. “There appears to be no shortage of willing participants,” he said.
She had faced a minimum of 10 years in prison, but was subject to a so-called “safety valve” provision because she had no criminal record, was not considered a leader & was not involved with violence.
Defense attorneys also pointed out she was a 17-year-old from an impoverished family when she met Guzman and married him on her 18th birthday. “This began when she was a very impressionable minor married to a powerful man more than three decades older,” Jeffrey Lichtman said.
Coronel Aispuro expressed “true regret for any and all harm” as she spoke through a Spanish translator in court. “I am here before you, asking for forgiveness,” she said. She asked for a sentence that would allow her to watch her 9-year-old twin daughters grow up.
She previously pleaded guilty to three federal offenses as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors. She also surrendered $1.5 million.
The charges include knowingly and willfully conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana & methamphetamine for several years. She also pleaded guilty to a money-laundering conspiracy charge and to engaging in transactions with a foreign narcotics trafficker.
She also helped buy land for the tunnel and smuggle Guzman’s messages to his subordinates while he was in prison, which allowed him to stay in control of the Sinaloa cartel while behind bars.
“He chose her to move those messages to people who worked for him,” said prosecutor Anthony Nardozzi, who called her a “cog in a very large wheel.”
The 32-year-old was arrested in February at Dulles International Airport in Virginia and has been jailed since then. She will also serve four years of supervised release after the prison sentence.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A former football player at the University of Central Florida was fatally shot during an altercation with his father & his mother was wounded.
Otis Anderson Jr. was killed late Monday during the argument with his father, Otis Anderson Sr., at his parents’ home in Jacksonville, Florida.
The fight started after the former running back’s father was bit by a dog belonging to Anderson’s girlfriend. Anderson got into a verbal fight with his 52-year-old father & his mother urged him to go back upstairs. Anderson’s father & mother than began arguing & the senior Anderson flipped over a recliner, causing Anderson to come back downstairs to check on his mother’s well-being.
Anderson then began arguing with his father. The part of the police report describing the shooting was blacked out, but it said Anderson had a gunshot wound to his chest & back. Anderson’s mother, Denise, was treated for graze wounds at a hospital.
Anderson’s father is facing charges of second-degree murder & attempted second-degree murder.
Anderson played for UCF from 2017 to 2020 & had 3,708 all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns, the eighth-highest in the school’s record books.
In a tweet, University of Tennessee head football coach Josh Heupel, who coached Anderson at UCF, said he was “saddened & stunned” by his death.
“Tough & gritty, fun & full of laughter, he made such a positive impact on our university, community & our locker room,” Heupel said. “He was an unbelievable teammate.”

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 15-year-old sophomore opened fire at his Michigan high school on Tuesday, killing 3 students & wounding 6 other people, including a teacher.
Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said at a news conference that he didn’t know what the assailant’s motives were for the attack at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a community of about 22,000 people roughly 30 miles north of Detroit.
Officers responded at around 12:55 p.m. to a flood of 911 calls about an active shooter at the school, McCabe said. Authorities arrested the suspect at the school & recovered a semi-automatic handgun & several clips.
“Deputies confronted him, he had the weapon on him, they took him into custody,” McCabe said, adding that suspect wasn’t hurt when he was taken into custody & he refused to say how he got the gun into the school.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the names of the suspect or victims.
Tim Throne, the superintendent of Oxford Community Schools, said he didn’t know yet know the victims’ names or whether their families had been contacted.
“I’m shocked. It’s devastating,” the shaken superintendent told reporters.
The school was placed on lockdown after the attack, with some children sheltering in locked classrooms while officers searched the premises. They were later taken to a nearby Meijer grocery store to be picked up by their parents.
McCabe said investigators would be looking through social media posts for any evidence of a possible motive.
Robin Redding, the parent of a 12th-grader, told The Associated Press that there had been rumblings of trouble at the school.
“He was not in school today. He just said that ‘Ma I don’t feel comfortable. None of the kids that we go to school with are going today,’” Redding said.

The world’s first living robots — known as “xenobots” — can now reproduce.
Details about the robots, created using the heart & skin stem cells from the African clawed frog, were unveiled last year after experiments showed they could move & self-heal.
Now, the scientists at Tufts University, the University of Vermont & Harvard who made the xenobots say the tiny blobs can also self-replicate.
The results of the new research were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday.
Experiments showed that the organisms can swim out into their dish, find other single cells and assemble “baby” xenobots.
A few days later, the babies become new xenobots that look and move just like the initial creation.
The new xenobots can then go out and self-replicate again, according to the scientists.
Xenobots, which are less than a millimeter wide, are designed on a computer and hand-assembled.
The scientists said they were stunned to learn the tiny blobs could spontaneously replicate.
“People have thought for quite a long time that we’ve worked out all the ways that life can reproduce or replicate. But this is something that’s never been observed before,” said Douglas Blackiston, who worked on the study.
“This is profound,” added Michael Levin, co-leader of the research. “These cells have the genome of a frog, but, freed from becoming tadpoles, they use their collective intelligence, a plasticity, to do something astounding.”
The team said the new research could be beneficial for advancements in regenerative medicine.
“If we knew how to tell collections of cells to do what we wanted them to do, ultimately, that’s regenerative medicine — that’s the solution to traumatic injury, birth defects, cancer, and aging,” Levin said.
“All of these different problems are here because we don’t know how to predict & control what groups of cells are going to build. Xenobots are a new platform for teaching us.”

Ye's on a mission to help the homeless population of Los Angeles, meeting with charitable organizations and coming up with strategies he believes can help to ease the growing problem in the city.
As we'd shown you ... Kanye stopped by the L.A. Mission to drop off 1,000 meals last week but turns out he also took time to meet with the people in charge. We're told during his sit-down with Reverend Troy Vaughn, CEO of L.A. Mission, Ye laid out 4 ways he believes he can help the homeless.
First, Kanye wants to create a plan to continue feeding the unhoused by establishing a working relationship with orgs across the city. He also wants to use his own companies to help provide education, jobs & housing.
Ye believes he can use his platform & Sunday Service to inspire and uplift the homeless community in L.A. in only ways his artistry has been able to do with others.
Finally, Kanye wants to partner with other groups tackling the crisis & combine their efforts with his ability to provide a bold & innovative vision for the future. Together, he believes they can eliminate the homeless situation.
As we reported, Kanye also spoke to those in attendance at the mission, saying he believes God will bring him & Kim Kardashian back together ... inspiring millions of couples in the process.
Of course, the homeless population in L.A. has only grown since the start of the pandemic, with lawmakers & citizens looking for ways to help those in need.
Just recently, an unarmed response pilot program was launched in Venice Beach to help assist law enforcement with calls, especially those that have to do with mental health.
