(Fox 4 News) - Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall officially fired Amber Guyger on Monday for the fatal shooting of a man in his own apartment.
In a statement, the Dallas Police Department said Guyger was terminated during a hearing with the chief Monday morning. An internal affairs investigation found she “engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for manslaughter” and she was fired due to her "actions" the night of the fatal shooting.
Guyger was arrested for the death of her neighbor, Botham Jean. She claims she mistakenly went to the wrong apartment the night of Sept. 6 and shot Jean dead because she believed he was an intruder.
Chief Hall addressed concerns about Guyger’s employment status late last week, saying she would not take action as long as the investigation was active because she didn’t want to risk compromising the criminal case. That position apparently changed over the weekend, as Guyger's firing was not expected.
Legal experts told FOX 4 News there are already protections in place to prevent administrative procedures, like firing an employee, from conflicting with a criminal case. Attorneys for Jean’s family had also criticized the chief for keeping Guyger on the force.
“I think it sends a strong message out to the community that the Dallas Police Department now has taken steps in the right direction with making that decision to fire this officer,” said Daryl Washington, an attorney for Jean’s family.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s office is still preparing a criminal case to present to a grand jury. Although she was charged with manslaughter for Jean’s death, DA Faith Johnson said the grand jury could upgrade that charge.
Guyger has been with the department since 2013. She has the right to appeal the discipline.
Also on Monday, Chief Hall also announced changes to the police department’s administrative procedures. She told the city council’s Public Safety Committee that she is ending the 72-hour wait period for obtaining statements from officers who are involved in shootings.
The previous chief, David Brown, put that policy into place so officers would be able to provide a clear recollection of events away from the heat of the moment.
Chief Hall is also moving forward with a citizen’s review board, something protestors demanded after Jean’s death. It’s not clear if that board would have subpoena power as demanded by the protestors.

Bow Wow's relationship with former mentor Jermaine Dupri is currently strained at best. The two now seem to be at odds over comments JD made during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club.
"I don't even be follow Bow Wow (on social media) by the way," Dupri said. "How long have I been dealing with this? This been every day of my life since he was 12-years old. Bow Wow's been the same. The dude used to come on my bus and steal my jewelry. When he was 12, I had my jewelry laid on the bus. He'd come off his bus and steal my jewelry, and take my jewelry and run on his bus. His bus would be gone and I'd have to wait to get my jewelry. He's been doing that crazy stuff to me."
Bow Wow took to Twitter Sunday, September 23, to address the drama, saying he would not be a part of So So Def's 25-year anniversary tour.
"Why cant niggas just keep my name out they mouth," the 31-year old, born Shad Moss, tweeted. "2 types of people i never met in my life a motherfucker like me or a motherfucker i need. I wont be there #ssd25. News- i never was signed to so so def 'contractually' i was always on columbia. They let jd produce my album because he was on columbia. Why you think when he left he aint take me? He couldnt. 3rd album he was no where to be found on it FACTS."

Kevin Hart & Tiffany Haddish stopped by The Breakfast Club this morning promoting their new movie Night School and also talked equal pay in Hollywood, and the comments made by Katt Williams about him and Tiffany Haddish.
Night School is the first movie underneath Kevin Hart's production umbrella "Heartbeat Productions". When making the film he wanted to put himself in a position to win so he teamed up with Will Packer. This is their 7th movie together four numbers ones and two number 2 movies. Coming off a number one success with Packer Heart expressed it only made sense to get Tiffany Haddish to co-star in the movie. On the premise of the movie, Kevin said that he wanted to make a movie people could relate to and that's why the movie is about second chances saying: "in this particular case education is at the forefront of the story when you embrace it the second time you do it correctly".
A few days ago Kat William caught some heat and even earned himself Donkey of The Day from Charlamagne Tha God for his comments about current comedians including Kevin Hart & Tiffany Haddish. One of his comments about Tiffany that caused the uproar was when he said "You can’t tell me your favorite Tiffany Haddish joke. Why? Because she ain’t done a tour yet. She ain’t done a special. She has not proven the ability to tell jokes, back to back for an hour to nobody”. Katt Williams went on to talk about how no one was doing or putting up numbers that he was doing. In response to that Kevin said: "So if I'm looking at people that share my craft I'm going to bring up people Kat Williams named, Lil Rel, Jerrod Carmichael, Hannibal Burres, myself, and Tiffany Haddish..." Heart continued on by listing the successes of all the people that Kat Williams had Trashed talked.
Finally expression his issues with what Katt had been saying Hart heald nothing back "My frustrations at Katt Williams is that he keeps pointing fingers at Hollywood, when do you take responsibility for your own actions, you had the shot, you were the guy, you were set up to be the star". He continues on to talk about how Katt Williams chose drugs over everything else and that Williams is frustrated now that other people are using their positions to bring others up finally saying "don't blame everybody else for your s--t".
Tiffany finally speaking about the whole ordeal says that she still is a huge fan of his, but asked herself when he came at her "damn what did I do to him, did I f--k his man". Despite all the jokes, however, Haddish has no hard feelings over it. When asked by Angela Yee "Doesn't it feel like as the success comes and things get bigger for you so much hate comes as well", she had to say "well I expect it, it's part of the process, they love you for a minute then they hate on you".

Suge Knight will be spending a significant amount of time in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter, Thursday September 20, in the 2015 hit-and-run death of Terry Carter outside a Compton restaurant following a dispute related to the film “Straight Outta Compton.”
TMZ reports that the 53-year old former Death Row Records boss, born Marion Knight Jr., was sentenced to 28 years in prison. He will get time served credit for the 3 1/2 years he's spent in a Los Angeles jail awaiting trial.
When he is released Knight will be on parole for 3 years.
