Video After The Jump

Cardi B and Candace Owens are in an epic feud, with Candace calling Cardi an "illiterate rapper" who isn't worthy of interviewing Joe Biden ... thing is, Owens just doesn't get it.

Owens blasted Cardi for her recent sit down with Biden ... specifically, Cardi's question about what Biden would do about Black men dying in America. Owens thinks Cardi should have fired back that, according to her, most Black men don't die at the hands of cops but rather other Black men.

Apparently, Owens doesn't think there's an issue with systemic racism in police departments, nor does she address the long list of Black men and women who have died at the hands and knees of cops ... sometimes over minor offenses and sometimes over no offenses at all.

Owens just can't wrap her head around Cardi interviewing a Presidential candidate ... she just can't understand why Biden didn't, as she put it, sit down with "intellectual" black people.

Here's what she's missing. Cardi has a huge following and can do more to get out the vote that the people Owens mentions, including herself. On top of that, she may not care for Cardi's interview, but lots of others did. Maybe she thinks Cardi was just too effective.

At one point during the back and forth, Cardi posted a vid from the Hamptons of her sister, Hennessy, getting harassed because she and her friend are an Afro-Hispanic gay couple.

Owens says Cardi is "uneducated when it came to politics." For her part, Cardi says Trump supporters have gone after her, encouraging people to set her house on fire.

2020 politics ... it ain't pretty.

A man has been charged with killing a 3-year-old girl Friday in Austin on the West Side.

Terrence Space, 23, is charged with a felony count of first-degree murder, according to Chicago police.

Lehleni Edwards was found unresponsive in bed about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 4 in the 1000 block of North Lockwood Avenue, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where she died at 1:21 a.m.

An autopsy found she died of multiple injuries from child abuse and ruled her death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Space, who lives in Austin, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. that day in southwest suburban Bolingbrook, police said.

He appeared in court Sunday and was ordered held on $1 million bail, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office and court records. He is due back in court on Tuesday.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the girl’s death, a spokesperson for the department said.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A man accused of trying to kidnap a baby from a Flagstaff grocery store has had multiple prior run-ins with the law, according to court documents.

Jeffrey Roholt, 59, is accused of grabbing a shopping cart with a baby in it and walking out of a Basha’s in Flagstaff on Thursday.

The mother of the child noticed and stopped them before they got too far, police said.

Roholt has several prior arrests, mostly stemming from alcohol abuse, according to the court records.

In 2006, police arrested him for aggravated DUI with two of his teenage sons and a friend in the car.

In 2018, police arrested him for allegedly raising a large knife to his wife and then stabbing pillows around her.

The arresting officer wrote that Roholt seemed very intoxicated, and indicated on the court documents that Roholt was an addict.

He was on probation for the prior domestic violence charge, but probation officers said he tested positive for alcohol this past April.

He had also been accused of skipping months of drug tests and diluting his urine so it would test negative on other occasions.

On his Facebook page, he wrote about attending AA meetings.

Roholt was also a professional chef. He wrote that he’d been trained at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America.

He bounced around different kitchens in Phoenix and Flagstaff, he posted about cycling and skiing and making sack lunches for the homeless.

A relative said that he had cut ties with the rest of the family years ago, but confirmed he had been arrested.

As a boxer, DeAndre Ware puts his life on the line every time he steps in the ring. On Friday, Ware, a veteran 168-pounder, had to save a life outside of it.

Ware, who will face Steven Nelson on Top Rank’s ESPN-televised show on Saturday, was getting his medical checks done on Friday afternoon when he noticed a commotion on the other side of the room. Pete Susens, a coordinator with Top Rank, had collapsed. Ware, a Toledo firefighter, immediately went to the scene to assist the doctors.

"I asked them if they want me to start compressions," Ware told SI in a telephone interview. "As I did them, he started to breathe. The doctor told me they could feel his pulse with my compressions."

Ware, a certified EMT, says he could tell immediately that Susens was in trouble. "His skin was pale, his pupils were dilated," Ware said. When Ware stopped compressions, doctors used a defibrillator to shock Susens heart. Ware then resumed compressions to continue getting oxygen to Susens brain.

After a few minutes, EMTs arrived and took over. Ware gave them a report and returned to his room, with Susens "starting to come around a little" when he left. While Ware isn’t accustomed to offering life saving measures in a boxing environment, he says he deals with situations like that "just about every tour" as a firefighter.

Video After The Jump

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jacob Blake has spoken publicly for the first time since a Kenosha, Wisconsin, police officer shot him seven times in the back, saying he’s in constant pain from the shooting, which doctors fear will leave him paralyzed from the waist down.

In a video posted Saturday night on Twitter by his family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, Blake said from his hospital bed that, “Twenty-four hours, every 24 hours it’s pain, nothing but pain. It hurts to breathe, it hurts to sleep, it hurts to move from side-to-side, it hurts to eat.”

Blake, a 29-year-old father of six, also said he has staples in his back and stomach.

“Your life, and not only just your life, your legs, something you need to move around and forward in life, can be taken from you like this,” Blake said, snapping his fingers.

He added: “Stick together, make some money, make everything easier for our people out there, man, because there’s so much time that’s been wasted.”

Blake, who is Black, was shot in the back by a white police officer on Aug. 23 after walking away from the officer and two others who were trying to arrest him. The officer, Rusten Sheskey, opened fire after Blake opened his own SUV’s driver-side door and leaned into the vehicle. The shooting was captured on video and posted online, sparking several nights of protests and unrest in Kenosha, a city of about 100,000 between Milwaukee and Chicago.

Sheskey and the other officers who were at the scene were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. None of them have been charged.

Blake, who had an outstanding arrest warrant when he was shot, pleaded not guilty Friday to charges accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman in May and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Blake appeared remotely via video conference from his Milwaukee hospital bed, wearing a dress shirt and tie. He spoke only to respond to the judge’s questions.

The state Justice Department has said a knife was recovered from Blake’s vehicle, but it has not said whether he was holding it when officers tried to arrest him.

The man who made the widely seen cellphone video of the shooting, 22-year-old Raysean White, said he saw Blake scuffling with three officers and heard them yell, “Drop the knife! Drop the knife!” before gunfire erupted. He said he didn’t see a knife in Blake’s hands.

The Kenosha police union said Blake had the knife and refused orders to drop it. Blake fought with police, including putting one officer in a headlock, the union said. Police twice used a Taser, which did not stop Blake.

Video After The Jump

(CNN) A family member of the George Washington University professor who revealed that she had been lying about being Black for years says they're outraged.

University officials have said Jessica Krug will no longer teach classes this semester. She was a professor of African and Latin American studies.

Krug's sister-in-law, who did not want to be identified, told CNN that her husband has been estranged from his sister for 20 years. She said Krug is as "white as snow white."

"There's no way she's Black, I can tell you that, there's no member of the family that is Black," the sister-in-law said, confirming that her husband and Krug are Jewish and grew up in Kansas. "Our last name is tarnished, and all my husband and I want to do is cry our eyes out right now. I can only imagine my father-in-law rolling around in his grave."

She said they were unaware that she was lying about her race until they received a call from a reporter Thursday evening.

Krug triggered headlines around the globe last week after she posted a blog on Medium that claimed she was in fact white despite having lived most of her adult life “under various assumed identities within a Blackness that I had no right to claim: first North African Blackness, then US rooted Blackness, then Caribbean rooted Bronx Blackness”.

Krug blamed “unaddressed mental health demons” dating back to childhood and said she frequently thought of confessing the deception, “but my cowardice was always more powerful than my ethics.”

George Washington University issued the following:

The members of the faculty of The George Washington University Department of History are shocked and appalled by Dr. Jessica Krug’s admission on September 3, 2020 that she has lied about her identity for her entire career. With what she has termed her “audaciously deceptive” appropriation of an Afro-Caribbean identity, she has betrayed the trust of countless current and former students, fellow scholars of Africana Studies, colleagues in our department and throughout the historical discipline, as well as community activists in New York City and beyond. The discipline of history is concerned with truth telling about the past. With her conduct, Dr. Krug has raised questions about the veracity of her own research and teaching. Accordingly, the department calls upon Dr. Krug to resign from her position as associate professor of History at GW. Failing that, the department recommends the rescinding of her tenure and the termination of her appointment.

Dr. Dre's estranged wife, Nicole Young, is requesting a hefty sum amid their divorce. According to court documents obtained by ET, Young is seeking $1,936,399 in monthly spousal support, as well as attorney’s fees and costs totaling $5 million. ET has reached out to attorneys for Young and Dre for comment.

ET confirmed in June that Young filed for divorce. The two tied the knot in May 1996 and recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary.

According to the documents, Young wants the spousal support to begin retroactively from Sept. 1, so she "can continue to enjoy the lifestyle she enjoyed during marriage."

Attorneys for Young claim that she is "having difficulty paying her bills" and that the mogul, who controls all their assets, has "been exerting financial control" over his ex by "ordering his agents to scrutinize her bills" before he decides if he approves them or not.

While the papers state that Young does not work, her attorneys claim that she "played an important role" in Dre's career and "was integral" to naming his record label Aftermath, and should be able to continue the lifestyle she had before their divorce. The document also goes into detail about their luxurious lifestyle, which includes five Los Angeles homes, a private jet, lavish cars, 12 security guards, seven housekeepers, a private chef and more.

Additionally, Young claims that Dre "kicked her out" of their Brentwood residence in the middle of the night in a "drunken rage" and has since been living at their Malibu residence. However, she claims that he has threatened to sell that home, and allegedly texts her to "not spend one more cent."

Young also alleges that Dre has "undertaken an aggressive approach to this case, engaging in gamesmanship and no-holds-barred hyper-litigation simply because he can afford to." She also claims he has cut off the only source funds available to her to pay for her case.

She also goes into detail about their premarital agreement, which she claims she was forced to sign "under extreme duress" on their wedding day. Young claims she was never provided with a copy of the prenup she signed and "only begrudgingly -- and after multiple requests and a delay of two month -- received a copy."

Meanwhile, Forbes reports that Dre was worth $800 million as of 2019. This fortune is due in part to his successful headphone line, Beats By Dr. Dre, which Apple acquired for $3 billion in 2014.

Ahmaud Arbery's mom says her son's death has become a full-blown business for one of her son's friends, a former coach and others -- and she's blasting all of them for profiting off tragedy.

Wanda Cooper-Jones says she's alarmed by the "I RUN WITH MAUD" social media pages, which were initially started as a memorial to her son. She says Ahmaud's friend, Akeem Baker, came to her with the idea and she was on board at first, but doesn't like the fact the page is now being run like a business.

She also says she's being denied administrative access to the page.

Wanda claims Akeem even started a GoFundMe page for her son -- which she never asked him to do -- and it's raised nearly $2 million. The page says the money's going to Wanda, but she's already back to work.

Ahmaud's mother is also incensed someone filed for an "I Run With Maud" trademark. She doesn't say who did it, but does say the applicant never even knew Ahmaud.

Next on her list is Foundation 2.23 ... which refers to the date Ahmaud was killed. Wanda says it was founded by Jason Vaughn, a local high school coach who did not have a close relationship with Ahmaud. She says the org held a big fundraiser, but wants to make it clear the foundation is not affiliated with her family.

She says she's could not stay silent in the face of what she sees as injustice. Wanda's bottom line is ... she's not asking for any money, because no amount of cash can change the fact she had to bury her son.

Kodak Black is praying for more than just his release from prison ... because he says he can't get access to a rabbi to practice his Jewish faith behind bars.

Kodak's attorney, Bradford Cohen, tells TMZ he's ramping up to file a lawsuit if his client doesn't get what he says he's been requesting for months ... a consultation with his own personal rabbi -- or any rabbi, really, at this point.

Of course, the other headline here is ... Kodak Black's Jewish??? We're with ya, and Cohen explained the rapper identifies with the faith -- even though he has yet to convert. He claims the feds have gone radio silent on his efforts to connect with his go-to rabbi.

If nothing changes, Cohen says they'll be suing for a violation of Kodak's First Amendment right to practice his religion.

He admits the chaplain at Kodak's facility in KY recently emailed to say face-to-face spiritual meetups were being temporarily axed due to COVID. However, Cohen says the chaplain also told him phone calls with the rabbi shouldn't be an issue.

Oh, and if you're wondering why Kodak's so adamant about getting access to any rabbi and a Torah, we're told he thinks it will help his mental state. Kodak believes God has a plan for him, and wants to talk it out with a pro.

The Bureau of Prisons declined to comment on Kodak's specific sitch, but assured us it goes to great lengths to accommodate inmates' religious needs.

A Latin King street gang member convicted of a racketeering conspiracy involving two 1999 northwest Indiana murders claimed in court records this week to be the detainee who assaulted R&B singer R. Kelly in Chicago’s federal jail last month.

Jeremiah Shane Farmer, 39, wrote that “the government made me attack” R. Kelly and that he did so “in hopes of getting spotlight attention and world news notice to shed light on” alleged government corruption.

Farmer’s writings appear in a six-page document filed Tuesday with the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Records show Farmer is representing himself and is still detained at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where Kelly is also being held.

Kelly has been locked up for more than a year while awaiting trial on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges in Chicago, as well as a racketeering indictment in Brooklyn. His lawyers have tried for months to get him out of jail.

Records show Farmer was convicted last year of a racketeering conspiracy that involved the June 25, 1999, murders of Marion Lowry, 74, and Harvey Siegers, 67, at their Hammond business, Calumet Auto Rebuilders. The feds say the men were beaten to death with a hammer.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump defended himself Friday against accusations that he mocked American war dead as his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, intensified efforts to frame the election as a referendum on the president’s character.

The allegations, sourced anonymously in The Atlantic, describe multiple offensive comments by the president toward fallen and captured U.S. service-members, including calling World War I dead at an American military cemetery in France as “losers” and “suckers” in 2018. The reported comments, many of which were confirmed independently by the AP, are shining a fresh light on Trump’s previous public disparaging of American troops and military families and opening a new political vulnerability for the president less than two months from Election Day.

“This is more made up Fake News given by disgusting & jealous failures in a disgraceful attempt to influence the 2020 Election!” Trump tweeted late Thursday, as aides mounted a concerted defense of the president, with Trump’s campaign and allies taking to social media and broadcast interviews to denounce the report.

“I’ve done more for the military than almost anyone else,” he added Friday in the Oval Office.

The president was alleged to have made the comments as he was set to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery during a trip to France in Nov. 2018. The White House said the visit was scrubbed because foggy weather made the helicopter trip from Paris too risky and the 90-minute drive deemed infeasible.

Trump, who traveled to Pennsylvania on Thursday, told reporters after he returned to Washington that the Atlantic report was “a disgraceful situation” by a “terrible magazine.”

“I would be willing to swear on anything that I never said that about our fallen heroes,” Trump told the reporters, gathered on the tarmac in the dark. “There is nobody that respects them more. No animal — nobody — what animal would say such a thing?”

Trump also denied calling the late Arizona Sen. John McCain, a decorated Navy officer who was a prisoner of war in Vietnam, a “loser” after his Aug. 2018 death.

In 2015, shortly after launching his presidential candidacy, Trump publicly blasted McCain, saying “He’s not a war hero.” He added, “I like people who weren’t captured.” At the time, Trump also shared a news article on Twitter calling McCain a “loser.”

On a call with reporters hosted by the Biden campaign Friday, Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth lambasted Trump for “belittling the sacrifices of those who have shown more bravery than he’s capable of.”

“Of course he thinks about war selfishly,” Duckworth said of Trump. “He thinks of it as a transactional cost, instead of in human life and American blood spilled, because that’s how he’s viewed his whole life. He doesn’t understand other people’s bravery and courage because he’s never had any of his own.”

Duckworth, a retired Army National Guard lieutenant colonel who lost both of her legs in the Iraq War, has been a prominent critic of Trump’s handling of military issues. Knocking Trump for allegedly inventing an injury to avoid serving in the Vietnam War, Duckworth said that she’d “take my wheelchair and my titanium legs over Donald Trump’s supposed bone spurs any day.”

Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father who drew national attention after criticizing Trump during the 2016 Democratic National Convention, joined Duckworth on the call and said that Trump’s “life is a testament to selfishness.”

“Words we say are windows into our souls. So when Donald Trump calls anyone who places their lives in service of others a loser, we understand Trump’s soul,” he said. Khan’s son, Humayun, was killed in action in Iraq in 2004.

Biden said that “if the revelations in today’s Atlantic article are true, then they are yet another marker of how deeply President Trump and I disagree about the role of the President of the United States.”

“Duty, honor, country — those are the values that drive our service members,” Biden said in a statement Thursday night, adding that if he is elected president, “I will ensure that our American heroes know that I will have their back and honor their sacrifice — always.” Biden’s son Beau served in Iraq in 2008-09.

Trump only amplified his criticism of McCain as the Arizona lawmaker grew critical of his acerbic style of politics, culminating in a late-night “no” vote scuttling Trump’s plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That vote shattered what few partisan loyalties bound the two men, and Trump has continued to attack McCain for that vote, even posthumously.

“It’s sad the depths that people will go to during a lead-up to a presidential campaign to try to smear somebody,” said White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows Thursday.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told “Fox & Friends” on Friday that he was with the president for a good part of the trip to France. “I never heard him use the words that are described in that article,” Pompeo said.

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted that she was part of the discussion about visiting the cemetery. “This never happened. I have sat in the room when our President called family members after their sons were killed in action and it was heart-wrenching. ... I am disgusted by this false attack.”
