On the morning of December 7, actress Natalie Desselle Reid died of colon cancer at the age of 53, surrounded by her family. According to TMZ, Desselle Reid was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year. Actress Holly Robinson Peete tweeted the news, writing, “a bright shining star passed away this morning. I got to know her when my mom was managing her. She will be so missed … sending out prayers to her children and husband.” After Peete’s announcement, an official statement on Desselle Reid’s Instagram confirmed the news: “It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning. She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife.”

Desselle Reid was best known for her iconic role as Mickey, one of the titular Black American Princesses in the 1997 film B*A*P*S opposite Halle Barry. That same year, Desselle Reid played wicked stepsister Minerva in the beloved film version of Rodgers & Hammertsein’s Cinderella alongside Whitney Houston and Brandy. In the 2000s, Desselle Reid continued her comedic career on the series Eve and worked with Tyler Perry on Madea’s Big Happy Family in 2011. Desselle Reid is survived by her husband and their three children.

A small town has been shaken after Polk County officials release new details in an investigation. 52-year-old Polk County mother Suzette Penton has died from her injuries after officers say she was run on November 9, 2020. “A lady that was doing nothing but trying to gather photographs of suspects who attacked her child a their home!”

Tuesday, Polk County Sheriff, Grady Judd said the 18-year-old driver, Elijah Stansell’s charges are being upgraded to adult first degree murder charges while the other teens face attempted murder for the crime.

It’s Penton’s family, however that suffers the most. “She left with her youngest son to the store for a few minutes. Little did she realize at that moment in time, that directly across the street in a park, there were four people in a van. They were waiting to go beat up Hunter,” said Sheriff Judd.

Officers say Stansell brought three other people: 16-year-old Raven Sutton, 15-year-old Kimberly Stone and 14-year-old Hannah Eubank to the victim’s house to handle an ongoing dispute. “Kimberly Stone was the ex-girlfriend to Hunter Penton. Her new boyfriend is Elijah Stansell. Well, Kimberly had been communicating back and forth online with Penton’s son and said, ‘Well, I’ll get my boyfriend and we’ll come beat you up’,” said Sheriff Judd.

After Penton was seen leaving her home, the teens approached the front door and a fight ensued between Penton’s son and the teens. “They go up to the front door. The instigator of all this stays in the van. Hunter has no idea. When he comes out the side door, Elijah confronts him and starts beating him up. About that time, unexpectedly, Suzette comes back,” said Sheriff Judd.

That’s when the teens scramble for the van and Penton runs after them. Seconds later, the van is seen pulling away as Penton stood in the roadway where police say Stansell then intentionally hit Penton before fleeing the scene.

All four teens are being charged as adults for murder and attempted murder. A celebration of life for Suzette Penton will be held on December 6th at the Bronson Community Center. The family has made it so that all are welcome.

Evander Holyfield says his team has been in contact with Mike Tyson's camp -- and he strongly believes they're VERY close to inking a deal for a 3rd fight.

"I'm a very confident person," Evander tells TMZ Sports ... "I think it's gonna happen."

Remember, after Mike fought Roy Jones Jr. -- Tyson revealed his team had been in touch with the Holyfield camp, but they weren't able to make a deal.

But, Evander says there's been movement -- and it's heading in the right direction.

Evander is 58. Tyson is 54.

Of course, the two first clashed back in 1996 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas -- where Evander dominated Mike before securing a win via TKO in the 11th round.

The Tyson vs. Holyfield rematch went down in 1997 -- and that's when Mike famously feasted on Evander's ears. Tyson was disqualified in the 3rd round.

Evander's last sanctioned fight took place in 2011 when he was nearly 48 years old -- defeating 46-year-old Danish heavyweight Brian Nielsen.

Holyfield has been back in the gym training like crazy -- but does he have what it takes to beat Mike Tyson, who looked phenomenal against Roy Jones Jr.?

The Real Deal is hoping to find out ... sending this message to his old rival.

"Let's do it, baby! Simple as that. Let's do it!"

For the last couple of months there have been rumors circulating of a Floyd Mayweather vs, Logan Paul fight. Turns out, the chatter was true.

In a surprise announced via his Instagram account on Sunday, December 6, Floyd said he and the YouTube star, turned boxer would square off in a super exhibition match on February 20, 2021.

Hopefully Mayweather will give Paul the Nate Robinson treatment.

Yup, that's one of the greatest female boxers ever ... telling TMZ Sports she's ready to humble the YouTube superstar and show him what it's like to go up against a REAL fighter!!

We spoke with the champ about the recent Paul and Nate Robinson fight ... and she says they made a "mockery" of the sport because there are actual boxers who should have gotten the chance to fight under a Tyson and Jones Jr. card instead of social media stars and NBA players.

The 25-year-old says it's smart for Jake to keep calling out non-pro boxers ... but guarantees the dude would get exposed against a real fighter.

"Jake Paul is making his money, he's doing his thing, but stay away from us real fighters," Shields says.

"And anybody out there that say 'Oh, Jake Paul will destroy her because she's a woman', ... I'm the greatest woman! So, no, Jake Paul won't do nothing with me and if he think he can, he can come see me."

Shields says she's not talkin' sparring, either -- she would take Paul on in a real fight ... and donate her earnings to the water crisis in her hometown of Flint, Michigan.

As for what the boxing world would think of the potential matchup, Shields thinks people would still take Paul just because he's a dude.

"I've been boxing for 14 years, 2 Olympics but they would still give Jake Paul the nod because he's a man. And it's like, you guys don't know nothing!"

As a COVID-19 vaccine looms, Uncle Sam wants to make sure you don't throw your money away on a bogus miracle cure -- and, as it turns out, there's a lot already out there.

It's inevitable ... criminals will peddle fake vaccines online and elsewhere. When money can be made and people are desperate, the combination is perfect for crooks.

The Food and Drug Administration has gotten ahead of snake oil salesmen who've been trying to peddle fake coronavirus-related products in recent months -- even going so far as to throw images of these junk items onto Flickr, so you can see them up close.

The FDA also says it's already issued warning letters to the vendors associated with these fraudulent medicines while keeping a watchful eye out for more, adding ... "The FDA is exercising its authority to protect consumers from firms selling unapproved products and making false or misleading claims, including, by pursuing warning letters, seizures, injunctions or criminal prosecutions against products and firms or individuals that violate the law."

As for the items themselves, boy some are ridiculous ... corn and cheese, making ya wonder how anyone could be so stupid as to buy them. Thing is ... people do.

Here's a brief list of some of the goofiest ones that caught our eye, and which the FDA flagged as phony.

-- Virus Bioshield, from a firm called "Rats Army." It's an oil-like substance, with claims it's full of vitamins, antioxidants and helpful minerals, and which "Exhibits antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties," "Suppresses tumor growth," "Increases vaccine effectiveness," "Protects against oxidative damage," among other things.

-- Biomagnetism Magnetic Therapy DIY Kits: FDA says this is a fraudulent product claiming to be able to prevent, treat, mitigate, diagnose or cure COVID-19. Not so!!!

-- StayWell Copper: Literally a little metal sheet that the FDA says is also claiming to be able to rid oneself of the 'rona, but they busted these guys back in May.

-- COVID-19 Cough Syrup: This one might be the silliest of all. It's a honey bear bottle emptied out and filled with some dark liquid gunk, with a crappy label slapped on the cap that reads, "COVID-19." If we must say it ... DO. NOT. BUY. THIS.

Feel free to click through and see the rest of the too-good-to-be-true "cures" the FDA wants you to be wary of (there's a lot). And, like they suggest, take caution as we get into the vaccine phase of the 'rona. If it isn't FDA-approved, it ain't legit.

Fourteen months removed from the ring following recovery from a scary car crash, Errol Spence Jr. looked better than ever before in a strong case for consideration as the best 147-pound fighter in the world.

Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) made a successful defense of his IBF and WBC welterweight titles with a thorough clinic of former two-division champion Danny Garcia inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. All three judges favored Spence via scores of 116-112 (twice) and 117-111. CBS Sports also scored it for Spence, 118-110.

In his third straight headlining role atop a pay-per-view card, the 30-year-old Spence showed no signs of ill effect after flipping his Ferrari multiple times before being ejected from the vehicle last October. Despite an arrest for DWI, Spence survived the ordeal without any broken bones and might've produced the best performance of his career against Garcia (36-3, 21 KOs).

"I proved to myself that I am the best 147-pounder in the world," Spence said. "Danny Garcia pushed me to the limits, especially in training. He's a great champion and I knew I would be 100 percent ready. That's why I chose him."

Spence relied on his jab throughout to cause swelling under Garcia's left eye. He also landed the harder shots throughout and avoided getting into any kind of trouble against his heavy-fisted opponent. He also outlanded Garcia, 187 to 117, according to CompuBox.

"He was just the better man tonight. No excuses," Garcia said. "I fought a hard, tough fight. He had a difficult jab and I think that was the key to the fight. I didn't have a great jab. He had a great jab and that was the difference in the fight. He landed it better than me."

Garcia was game throughout and was responsible defensively. Yet as the fight began to slip away in the second half with the need for something dramatic rising, Garcia was seemingly unwilling to take the risk as he slowly wilted.

Spence adjusted to any form of rallying Garcia had in the middle rounds by switching off his jab to score repeatedly with a lead left hand that took away Garcia's right-handed version, which had been his only consistent punch. Spence also targeted the body repeatedly with his hard left cross, particularly in the later rounds while Garcia faded.

ENID, Okla. — An Oklahoma man accused of gunning down a Black woman over the weekend told detectives he did it to “teach her a lesson” and said he was glad he’d done it, authorities said.

Shane Dale Perosi, 30, of Enid, is charged with first-degree murder in the death Sunday of Martika Ferguson. Perosi is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and destruction of evidence.

Enid police officials said officers were called Sunday afternoon to an alleyway, where residents of the neighborhood had spotted Ferguson, 27, of Enid, lying on the ground. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation led detectives to Perosi’s house, where they served a no-knock warrant Tuesday. During the execution of the search warrant, evidence was found that tied him to Ferguson’s death.

“During an interview with Perosi, he confessed he shot and killed Ferguson,” police officials said in a news release. “Perosi said he’d done so to teach her a lesson.”

It was unclear what lesson Perosi believed Ferguson needed to learn, or if race was a factor in the killing. Perosi is white.

“During his booking at the Garfield County Detention Facility, Perosi again reiterated he had murdered Ferguson and said he was glad he’d done so,” authorities said.

Police officials did not say if Ferguson and Perosi knew one another before the shooting.

Detectives worked more than 280 hours on the case as of Wednesday. Enid police Capt. Scott Miller praised the detectives’ work.

“They did a very good job, were very persistent and conducted a non-stop investigation,” Miller said in a statement. “They brought closure to the victim’s family and have made our community safer with the arrest of their suspect.”

Perosi remained in the county jail Friday. The investigation into Ferguson’s death is ongoing.

A prison officer who was caught smuggling drugs into Erlestoke Prison in Wiltshire, England where she worked has had her sentence increased.

The increased sentence follows an intervention by the Solicitor General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP.

Hannah Gaves, 27, was a prison officer at HMP Erlestoke in January 2019. After receiving information that Gaves was smuggling illicit items into the prison, she was searched and found to be in possession of some cannabis, cigarettes and 6.05g of crack cocaine.

Gaves admitted possession of the cigarettes and cannabis but denied knowledge of the cocaine.

But Lord Justice Davis said: "That was not the whole truth because, when she was searched, not only was a quantity of cannabis and five packets of tobacco (found) ... in addition, and hidden in her underwear, was a lump of a white substance wrapped in cling film."

In a police interview, she stated that she felt under pressure from an individual who would harm her if she did not smuggle in the contraband. She refused to name the individual concerned.

Gaves pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs, as well as attempting to bring List C prohibited articles into a prison.

She was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on August 28 at Salisbury Crown Court.

The sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme. Today, the sentence was found to be unduly lenient and increased to four years’ and eight months’ imprisonment.

After the hearing at the Court of Appeal the Solicitor General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, said: “Gaves intentionally smuggled contraband into prison with the intention of supplying dangerous drugs.

“She betrayed the trust inherent in her office. The decision by the Court of Appeal to increase her sentence today was the right one.”
