HOPEWELL, Va. (AP) — Four inmates escaped from a federal prison’s satellite camp in Virginia, officials announced Saturday morning.

Inmates Corey Branch, Tavares Lajuane Graham, Lamonte Rashawn Willis and Kareem Allen Shaw were discovered missing from the Federal Correctional Complex Petersburg’s satellite camp in Hopewell, Virginia, around 1:45 a.m., the Federal Bureau of Prisons said in a news release. The minimum security facility houses 185 male offenders, officials said. Officials did not release any details about how the inmates escaped.

The U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies were notified and an internal investigation has been initiated, officials said.

Branch, 41, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Virginia to more than 13 years for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and felon in possession of a firearm. Graham, 44, was sentenced in the Eastern District of North Carolina to 10 years for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and 28 grams or more of cocaine base, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Willis, 30, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Virginia to 18 years for possessing and concealing a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Shaw, 46, was sentenced in the Western District of Virginia to more than 16 years for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a measurable quantity of heroin.

Vanessa Bryant wants a jury to know that the sheriff's deputy accused of taking helicopter crash scene photos of Kobe Bryant was involved in another scandal involving excessive force where a handcuffed inmate's head was allegedly knelt on.

But, L.A. County is fighting back, insisting the other incident is irrelevant, and would seriously prejudice the jury.

About a year after Kobe, Gigi & 7 others tragically died in a helicopter crash, there was an incident inside a county jail involving a deputy named Doug Johnson ... who's accused of kneeling on the head of a handcuffed inmate for several minutes. The March 2021 incident received national news attention.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department allegedly attempted to prevent the details of the incident from going public ... believing it'd be a black eye for the department.

It's not the first scandal Johnson's allegedly been involved in ... 'cause he's accused of being one of the deputies who took photographs of Kobe's remains at the crash site.

Photos were then allegedly shown to civilians in places like bars.

Now, lawyers for L.A. County are asking a judge to prevent Vanessa's attorney's from raising the issue during the defamation & negligence trial -- filed by the Bryant family in 2020 & set to begin in July.

The county, in documents filed on Friday, argues the jail incident is "entirely unrelated" to Vanessa's case. They argue bringing up such a hot button issue like excessive force could have a huge effect on the outcome of the trial.

Lawyers for the county reportedly asked Vanessa's legal team if they'd agree not to bring up the other incident ... but VB's attorney refused. That's when L.A. County filed the motion.

A judge is yet to make a decision on L.A. County's request.

As for the jail incident ... Johnson was captured on camera leading an inmate through a hallway, before the man, awaiting a murder charge, punched him in the face several times. Once Johnson got the 24-year-old inmate under control & handcuffed, he allegedly knelt on the inmates head for around 3 minutes.

The incident was caught on surveillance video.

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (FOX 2) - A Detroit rapper who has already faced weapons charges following a shooting at his home in 2019 has been arraigned on a new count of using a telephone to harass or threaten someone.

West Bloomfield Police confirmed that Obie Trice was being held in Oakland County jail for the charge, which happened in the township.

Trice was given a $10,000 bond with 10% cash surety in the 48th District Court.

The rapper, who had been signed by a record label managed by Eminem in 2000 previously became entangled with law enforcement after police were called to his home on the day of a shooting that injured his girlfriend's teenage son.

Deputies were called to the home that day by a neighbor for a shooting. When deputies arrived, they learned a white car had sped off from the home on Woodvale.

Deputies went to the home and found a man walking out of the front door with a pistol in his right hand. Deputies ordered him to drop the weapon and go to the ground. He was arrested without incident.

Records indicate Trice was also injured in a shooting in 2005 when someone shot at his car on The Lodge.

HOUSTON – A man is wanted after police say he chased down a 14-year-old boy and shot him multiple times in northeast Houston on May 9.

Walter Golden, 49, has since been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a weapon.

Around 11:15 p.m., Houston police responded to reports of a shooting at a convenience store located at 7626 Jensen Drive.

When officers arrived, they said they found the 14-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to his legs. The teen was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

According to investigators, the teen arrived at the store on his bike and was approached by Golden. Moments later, investigators said Golden pulled out a gun, chased the teen and started firing several shots.

After the shooting, investigators said Golden fled the scene with an unknown woman in a four-door silver pickup truck.

LONDON (ABC13) The British government has approved the extradition of Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, to the United States to face charges of espionage.

Assange now has 14 days to appeal the decision of both the District Judge and the Secretary of State's decision to order extradition.

Assange has always denied any wrongdoing.

According to a tweet by Wikileaks, Assange will appeal through the legal system to the High Court.

"Under the Extradition Act 2003, the Secretary of State must sign an extradition order if there are no grounds to prohibit the order being made," the U.K. Home Office said in a statement following the decision. "Extradition requests are only sent to the Home Secretary once a judge decides it can proceed after considering various aspects of the case. On 17 June, following consideration by both the Magistrates Court & High Court, the extradition of Mr Julian Assange to the US was ordered. Mr Assange retains the normal 14-day right to appeal."

"In this case, the UK courts have not found that it would be oppressive, unjust or an abuse of process to extradite Mr Assange," the U.K. Home Office continued. "Nor have they found that extradition would be incompatible with his human rights, including his right to a fair trial & to freedom of expression & that whilst in the US he will be treated appropriately, including in relation to his health."

Assange is wanted in the U.S. in connection with one of the largest thefts of classified government information in American history. He was arrested in the U.K. in April 2019 &, just hours later, the United States announced charges against him for allegedly conspiring with former intelligence officer Chelsea Manning in order to gain unlawful access to a government computer.

Following his arrest by The Metropolitan Police in London in April 2019, the indictment again Assange, which was originally filed in March 2018, was released and claimed that Assange helped Manning crack a password on a Pentagon computer.

Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for her role in the offense in 2013. However, her sentence was commuted by President Barack Obama as one of his final acts in office in January 2017.

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (AP) — A 71-year-old man fatally shot two elderly people and wounded a third with a handgun during a potluck dinner at an Alabama church where he occasionally attended services, police said Friday.

The suspect was subdued and held by an attendee of the event until police arrived Thursday evening, sparing the congregation from further violence at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the Birmingham suburb of Vestavia Hills, police Capt. Shane Ware said.

“It was extremely critical in saving lives,” Ware told a news conference. “The person that subdued the suspect, in my opinion, was a hero.”

Ware did not give a motive for the shootings. He also didn’t identify the suspect, whom police took into custody at the church. He said the man’s name was being withheld until prosecutors formally charge the man with capital murder.

Walter Rainey, 84, of nearby Irondale was killed at the church and Sarah Yeager, 75, of Pelham died after being taken to a hospital. The third victim, an 84-year-old woman, remained hospitalized, Ware said.

He said the suspect and the three victims were all white.

The event was a “Boomers Potluck” gathering inside the church, according to messages posted on the church’s Facebook page by pastor the Rev. John Burruss. He said he was in Greece on a pilgrimage with a group of members and trying to get back to Alabama.

Police are still trying to determine the shooter’s motive, Ware said. He said the suspect had previously attended services at the church.

ABOUT

Hailing from Virginia, born in Virginia Beach and raised in Norfolk, Pluto Gone is a talented and gifted singer and song writer. Music has been a part of the young artist’s life ever since he could first understand sound. Pluto credits his mother for being a major inspiration in his musical career, as she is the one who taught him how to sing. He also counts icons such as Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and his own father as inspiring forces that urged him to never give up on what he loves to do.

The eclectic artist’s musical journey began after he penned down his first poem in 5th grade which led him into writing music for himself. For Pluto Gone, more than the sound of music, it is the feeling of releasing one’s inner sound through words that is always a truly moving experience.

According to the artist, ‘Pluto Gone’ is more than just a name, it represents the state of “being somewhere but your mind is elsewhere in order to think of a way out of hard life”. PG also refers to praising God and being hopeful that he will one day be amidst the greats of music, despite his lung afflictions.

Plainfield, Illinois — June 7th, 2022- David Glow is a new up-and-coming artist who produces music that comes straight from the heart and ventures to inspire listeners through the message of happiness. The artist sees music as the vehicle of truth, using symphonies as the mode of message deliverance.

This versatile performer uses several musical genres which include Pop, R&B, Rock, Afrobeat, and Dance music that all come together to produce music in a way never done before. Glow’s music is making airwaves around the world, because it has both simplicity and novelty both of which help audiences relate to the message while singing along with it.

Glow’s new album is a testament to the music that is original, not imitative nor untrue. The musician’s musical inspirations are Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Burna Boy, Davido, Seal, Lil Wayne, and Justin Bieber. As a firm Christian believer Glow believes that his songs come to him as revelations and his job is to simply deliver the message. The end goal of the message is to inspire people, create awareness, and leave a positive impact.

The eclectic artist’s first EP ‘I Believe’ Vol. 1 was released on May 21, 2022, through a collaborative effort. Glow worked with five producers on this album – Eric “eQ” Morgenstern, Chris Adams (CA), Ananda Dhar-James, Kevin Cho, and Craig J. Snider. The singer’s mastering engineer is Howie Weinberg – a fifteen times Grammy Award winner. For video production, the aspiring songwriter works with the following companies: Mex Films, Nigeria; 1000 Birds, USA; and Lorenzo Films, USA.

ABOUT

After decades of hiding his musical talent, David Glow has finally realized that his true mission is to spread positivity and happiness through the gift that is given to him by God. The aspiring star wishes the world to hear the voice of a little boy whose mom sang in the Presbyterian Church Choir in a small town called Limbe in Cameroon & Umuenyere Alayi, Abia State, Nigeria. The boy who had been writing and singing since the tender age of thirteen but has only now started doing it professionally.

Glow, now married to Helen Okorie with three children, was born in Limbe, Cameroon, West Africa. As a young child, the singer has grown up listening to Bob Marley, Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti, James Brown, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, and many more talented artists of the 80s who have also found a way to influence his music instrumentally.

The musician is a strong believer in education and has thus acquired a myriad of different degrees including a BSc in Information System (Johns Hopkins University) and an MSc in Public Health (Creighton University). Glow believes that music is a sure way of connecting with people and thus hopes to collaborate with other artists, using his label, David Glow Entertainment, Inc. as a way of helping them.
