Video After The Jump Being the son of a hip hop legend could be a hindrance to some people that can't handle the pressure, especially when your chosen field of work is the same. Young MC Diggy Simmons is out to prove he can establish his own identity outside of his father Rev Run's. "A lot of people ask me that. 'Do you feel pressure? Is it a lot for the fact your uncle is who he is [Russell Simmons], and your dad is [famous]'. But at the end of the day, from the beginning all the way til now, I've always just done me," Diggy says. Diggy has achieved some success early in the game. At age 15, he already has two mixtapes out, and a deal with Atlantic Records. Some people think he's been over hyped or that his success has been a fluke. "Of course people are gonna think that it's a fluke because on 'Run's House', you know and where I came from. But if you see how long I've been going with it...I've put out two mixtapes already, and doing my thing on the internet. And didn't even run straight to a single or run straight to a label. You can see that I'm building a career and a fan base, something that's going to have longevity." Young Dig uses the word "n*gga" quite a bit in his songs. He was asked how his parents feel about that. "I just feel as long as it's not any other [curse] word. I don't necessarily think that's a curse word. I don't think that's a derogatory term. Over time it became soething positive in the African American community." Diggy goes on to talk about his sneaker line and his 'Airborne' mixtape that features Chris Brown, Raekwon, Lupe Fiasco and Pharell twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump Back in July we reported the story of homo thug Antoine Dodson. An Alabama man man who saved his sister from an attack by an intruder, then hilariously threatened the would-be rapist on the evening news. Now Antoine is getting the last laugh, as a song spoofing his threats has gone viral and is charting on the Billboard Hot 100. The "Bed Intruder Song" made it's debut at # 89 on the Hot 100. It also debuts on Hot Digital Songs at No. 49 with 30,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Antoine and his sister, Kelly Dodson, who was attacked get 50% of the song's profits. The Gregory Brothers from youtube's AutotuneTheNews are responsible for making the spoof. Evan Gregory spoke to Billboard about the song's unlikely success. "Why I think people are latching onto it is frankly quite similar to why they latch onto a classic ballad or pop song that tops the charts -- because there's real emotion behind it that people identify with, even if, in this case, it was for unusual reasons," he said Congrats to Antoine and his sister for turning what could have been a family disaster into a money making venture. Independent Album: The War Report 2

Headliners: Capone-N-Noreaga

Key Collaborations: "Bodega Stories" (featuring the LOX); "With Me" (featuring Nas); and "The Corner" (featuring Avery Storm)

Essential Info: N.O.R.E. says he's grown volumes since his debut, 1997's The War Report, but he couldn't stray too far from his roots on the sequel, released Tuesday (July 13).

"We ain't make something for the radio and we didn't make something for the clubs. We just really made something for the streets," Nore explained to Mixtape Daily.

"Originally, when we made The War Report, I didn't know that Manhattan existed. I didn't know that there was a Brazil. I never been to a Brazil when I made War Report. I might have never been to Brooklyn — I was Queens-ed out! Every verse I wrote, when I wrote for War Report, it was for my 'hood or for Queens. It really was for nothing else, because I never saw nothing else. That's why when you hear that [first album], you be like, 'This dude needs to travel.' It's like, wow, 'Lefrak, Lefrak, Iraq' all over it.

"You can't knock me because I never went anywhere," Nore continued. "The worst people in the 'hood are the people who never go anywhere. Those are the most miserable people because they don't plan on never going nowhere. That's who that kid was [on that album]. That kid you hear spitting on The War Report, he never went nowhere. The furthest he went was to Jamaica — and I mean Queens, not the island. I wasn't crossing these bridges."

While making the new LP, Nore was cognizant that he couldn't be the same rough-around-the-edges teenager again.

"So when I went back and did it this time, I said, 'I have to be cautious. I can't act like that. I done seen the world,' " he remembered.

Asked which War Report 2 cuts he holds in the highest regard, N.O. started with the album's lead record.

"My favorite joint is 'Pain' and 'Brother From Another,' " the LeFrak, Queens, veteran said. " 'Pain' is just like, you know when you get on the Scream Machine [at Six Flags Great Adventure], and there's a certain feel you get in your stomach, 'cause you know, for guys, our ba--s come up. Your ba--s twitter. When I hear 'Pain,' that's that feeling I get over there. It's a certain feeling like, 'Holy sh--. It's about to drop.' "

"Nah, 'Pain' is ill," Nore's partner for 20 years, Capone, offers up. "The first time I heard 'Pain,' I got goose bumps. That song, if you close your eyes and turn off all the lights, you might get scared listening to that joint. We got a joint called 'The Oath.' When you think of an oath, you think of pricked fingers. When you hear this record, you gonna definitely feel like you took an oath. Like you down with us, like you took an oath to be down with C-N-N."

" 'My Attribute' is a great performance record. It's uptempo, has energy. 'Hood Pride' will be a great performance record," Nore added.

With the release of War Report 2, the friendship between these two Queens natives comes full circle. Their bond stood the test of time, and the duo still has many years ahead of them.

"For me, it's like Nore said, our friendship is always gonna get tested," 'Pone explained. "Everybody knows at one point, our friendship got tested. That was publicly noticeable. But we came back stronger. A lot of people, their friendship gets tested. ... When you have a brother and you get older, y'all not always gonna live together for the rest of your life: You move out the house, he goes one way, you go the other way. But y'all still brothers."

Officer Ricky Ross has done some suspect things in the past that by now we are all well aware of. Recently though, I have found out the Ross fuckery goes far beyond his once hidden background as a correctional officer. Less than two years ago "The Bawse" heard a record titled "On My Trail" from an up and coming independent east coast artist by the name of L.A. which featured Akon on the hook. Ross loved the song, as a matter of fact he loved it so much he decided to jack it. At the time this was L.A.'s first official single and was starting to get play on east coast radio stations. The song was the "Pick Of The Week" two weeks in a row on Miss Jones Hot 97 radio show. L.A.'s manager, June lived in Miami at the time, so they decided to try to get the record some exposure there. It was played on Power 96.5 and things were looking good. At the same time several record labels (Universal Motown, Universal SRC and Jive) were starting to show interest. However during their meetings with those labels they kept hearing the same thing about their song "Isn't this a Rick Ross/Flo Rida joint?" They also started getting resistance from Core DJ's for the very same reason. None of this made sense to either of them until they heard Rick Ross's version of their song. He had taken the hook, switched up the beat and changed the name from "On My Trail" to "On The Run" featuring Brisco and Flo Rida. Now you have to understand that around this time Flo Rida was becoming a big name with his hit record "Low" and Rick Ross was also established in the industry. L.A. being an independent artist struggling to get his foot in the door has been fighting an uphill battle trying to get the truth out ever since. L.A.'s version was recorded in August 2007. The Ross version began to circulate somewhere around July 2008 Check out both songs below and you can still hear L.A.'s voice ad libbing on the hook of the Ross version.
