MERRIMAC, Mass. (WCVB) — A Merrimac, Massachusetts, man accused of raping & kidnapping a 74-year-old woman has pleaded guilty.

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said William Raia admitted to breaking into a woman's home last July & raping her repeatedly.

Raia pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping, armed assault in a dwelling, 3 counts of aggravated rape, assault to rape, strangulation, 2 counts of assault & battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, assault & battery on a person over 60, causing injury & breaking & entering in the nighttime causing fear.

Investigators said the victim woke on July 3, 2021, to Raia standing over her.

"She was awoken by a noise, she realized there was a man standing next to her bed. Before she could react, that individual began to strangle her, beat her about the face & body & shove his fingers down her throat so she couldn’t breathe," prosecutor Kate MacDougall said at Raia's July 2021 arraignment.

The victim was was sexually assaulted, beaten & pepper-sprayed.

Early in the investigation, investigators said Raia's DNA was found on a beer can that was found at the scene.

A cellphone belonging to Raia's wife was also found at the scene.

A judge sentenced him to serve 22 years in prison.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — The long-awaited autopsy results in the death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph were released Tuesday.

According to the report, the 36-year-old rapper whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr. lists the cause of death as “gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and torso.” The report does not make clear the exact number of shots.

The medical examiner listed the official cause of death as homicide and said Young Dolph had suffered 22 wounds — some were listed as entrance wounds, some exit wounds and others as undetermined gunshot wounds.

On Dec. 9, police say the first suspect, Cornelius Smith was arrested in Southaven, Mississippi for an auto-theft warrant, which involved the white vehicle that was believed to be the getaway car in the murder.

Second suspect Justin Johnson, 23, also known as Straight Drop, was captured in Indiana on Jan. 11.

Both suspects plead guilty a month later. Their next hearing is set for March 24.

MPD named Devin Burns and Joshua Taylor as two persons of interest in the case on Feb. 20. Burns was taken into custody two days later. Taylor has not been arrested.

A Lawrence man was sentenced today to two decades in prison followed by 10 years of probation in connection with the death of a 13-year-old whose dream, her mother said, was to help cancer patients when she grew up.

Carlos Rivera, 49, pleaded guilty in Salem Superior Court to 19 counts, including aggravated rape of a child, rape, indecent assault & battery & distribution of cocaine to a minor, in the May 20, 2019, death of Chloe Ricard of Amesbury.

Rivera was sentenced to 20-22 years in jail. To date, he has served 991 days. There were 10 young female victims in all, including Chloe.

“The acts of that day will haunt me,” the victim’s mother, Deborah Goldsmith-Dolan, said. “You left her to die.”

And then, beginning to weep, she said: “I want my Chloe … Everywhere I look I see my Chloe … I love you, my baby girl.”

Chloe had been at Rivera’s apartment in May of 2019, police said. Rivera then dropped Chloe at the emergency room of Lawrence General Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Cocaine & fentanyl were found in her system.

Rivera — called a “monster” in past Herald reports — agreed to the facts of the case Friday, including he recruited at least 10 teenage girls between 12 years old & 16 years old, having them perform sex acts on each other & giving them drugs & clothes in return.

HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – Houston police are investigating a shooting they said left a 15-year-old girl dead in southwest Houston Tuesday night.

Officers with the Houston Police Department were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m.

When units arrived at the scene, officers said they found the 15-year-old girl, who has been identified by her family as Diamond Alvarez, with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alvarez was walking the family dog named Peanut when the shooting happened. The family told officers that they became concerned for her and went outside to find the dog outside their home. That’s when the family said they knew something was wrong.

After searching the neighborhood, the family said they found the teen in a field with gunshot wounds. Police said the girl was shot 22 times.

“I tried CPR. I couldn’t bring her back. I tried so hard to keep her alive,” Anna Machado, the girl’s mother, said.

Alvarez’s family told KPRC 2′s Brittany Jeffers she was a sophomore and honor student at Madison High School. The teen planned on attending cosmetology school.

“Whoever shot this girl 22 times in the back, they are cowards,” Tito Moczygemba, Alvarez’s stepfather, said.

Police said there may have been a dark vehicle that went north on Markwood that may have been involved in the shooting. They are looking in the area to see if there is any surveillance video nearby.

HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – The boyfriend accused of shooting his 16-year-old girlfriend 22 times while walking her dog in a southwest Houston neighborhood is free on bond.

Frank Deleon Jr., 17, was taken into custody Monday & charged with murder for the Jan. 11 shooting death of Diamond Alvarez. His bond was set at $250,000 but he bonded out of jail Tuesday.

Investigators said Deleon was romantically involved, or in a love triangle, with Alvarez & another female. When Alvarez found out about the other relationship, the two agreed to meet around 9:30 p.m. at a park.

Alvarez’s family said she was outside walking the family dog, “Peanut” when they heard gunshots. Her parents became concerned & her mother dialed her phone, but received no response. Alvarez’s mother & stepfather then went outside & found Peanut alone. Immediately, they knew something was wrong.

After searching the neighborhood, they found Alvarez lying in a field.

“He was just angry at my daughter. It wasn’t love, it wasn’t a breakup, he was angry at my daughter,” Machado said.

TikTok star Huey Haha is dead, leaving behind 2-year-old daughter Princess.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, Huey's friends Coby and Hype Boii shared a series of photos and videos with the 22-year-old influencer, writing, "Used to saying RIP but this hurt the most. we always hated comedy cuz all people see is laughs, not what we hadda do or go through. They already took the fun out the comedy but now its not gon be the same without you."

They added, "We love you brother see you in the future."

Numerous individuals expressed their condolences on the post, including Hamilton's Daveed Diggs and the musician Mozzy. The Hamilton star commented, "So sorry bro."

Coby and Hype Boii have since created a GoFundMe to cover the expenses of the funeral and to support Huey's daughter, raising more than $20,000 so far.

According to an Instagram post on Huey's page, the star died on Oct. 25. The caption stated, "He loved and appreciated every single one of his supporters."

No cause of death has been given for the comedian, who was from Stockton, Calif.

Emani 22, an R&B singer known for songs including "Feelings" and "Close," has died. She was 22.

Emani died on Monday following a "tragic accident," her manager, Fred Green, tells PEOPLE. Green says the incident happened on Saturday morning.

"It is with heavy hearts that the family of Emani has confirmed her passing," a statement provided to PEOPLE reads. "They would like to share that although she fought courageously and the medical team went above and beyond doing everything in their power to aid in her recovery, on Monday, October 11th, Emani succumbed to the injuries she sustained after a tragic accident. At this time, Emani's family is asking for privacy to mourn and honor her life and memories."

Record producer J Maine also confirmed the singer's death in a separate statement to PEOPLE. "Emani 22 was a wonderful individual that literally brightened up any room she was in," he said.

"I worked on music with her, and helped her put together her last project which was 'The Color Red.' The way we worked together was effortless, we just understood each other," he continued. "It hurts so bad to know that the last time I saw her was the last time I'd ever see her again."

Added J Maine: "I considered her to be like a little sister to me. She will be missed and never forgotten, and I'll always think about the great times we had hanging out."

The cause of death for Emani 22 — whose real name was Emani Johnson — has not immediately been revealed.

After news of Emani 22's death was initially made public, rapper Bhad Bhabie paid tribute to the late star with a set of social media posts.

First sharing a photograph of the two on Instagram, Bhad Bhabie, 18, wrote alongside the post, "I don't even know what to say…This doesn't even feel real."

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison for the murder of George Floyd, whose dying gasps under Chauvin’s knee led to the biggest outcry against racial injustice in the U.S. in generations.

The punishment handed out Friday fell short of the 30 years that prosecutors had requested.

With good behavior, Chauvin, 45, could be paroled after serving two-thirds of his sentence, or about 15 years.

(CNN) A man in the town of Manacor on the Spanish island of Mallorca has been arrested on suspicion of infecting 22 people with Covid-19, according to the Spanish National Police.

"Despite having symptoms and having done a PCR test, he continued his normal life without waiting for the result or quarantining," police said of the suspect in a tweet on Saturday.

Authorities added that the 40-year-old man "came to work with a 40°C fever [104°F] according to his colleagues. He was coughing loudly all over the place, lowering his facemask, while saying: 'I'm going to give you all the coronavirus.'"

The man infected eight people directly and 14 indirectly, both at his workplace and at the gym he attended, according to the police. Three of them were babies of only a year old, a police statement said.

The investigation began "at the end of January when authorities learned of the existence of a Covid-19 outbreak in a well-known establishment in Manacor," the statement said.

There have been almost 3.5 million recorded cases of Covid-19 in Spain, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, and more than 77,500 have died.

Beats By Dre reportedly is ending its endorsement contract with Deshaun Watson amid 22 lawsuits against the Houston Texans quarterback accusing him of sexual assault or misconduct.

Sarah Barshop of ESPN reported the Apple-owned company is terminating its relationship with Watson. Nike previously announced it was suspending its endorsement of the three-time Pro Bowler.

Reliant Energy also announced it will not be continuing its relationship with Watson.

Watson losing corporate sponsorships comes a day after Ashley Solis became the first woman to publicly come forward as a plaintiff in one of the lawsuits against Watson. Solis said she suffers from panic attacks, anxiety and depression and has sought counseling because of Watson's actions.

"I hope he knows how much pain he's inflicted on me emotionally and physically. And I hope he knows how much pain he's inflicted on these other survivors," Solis said. "People say that I'm doing this just for money. That is false. I come forward now so that Deshaun Watson does not assault another woman."

Another plaintiff, Lauren Baxley, wrote a letter to Watson that was read during the press conference. Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee is representing the 22 women who have filed lawsuits against Watson, all of whom provided massage services to Watson.

Solis said Watson "robbed" her of her career.

Two Tennessee Titans players have tested positive for COVID-19, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano on Wednesday.

After two consecutive days with negative tests, coach Mike Vrabel had been hopeful that the Titans could return to their facility on Wednesday. Under NFL rules, that can no longer happen.

This puts Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills in jeopardy.

The two tests Wednesday bring the total of Titans players and other staff members who have returned positive coronavirus tests since Sept. 24 to 22.

The NFL announced last week that the game between the Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 was postponed until Oct. 25.

Eight players last week, one this week and 11 overall this season -- defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, linebacker Kamalei Correa, cornerback Kristian Fulton, wide receiver Adam Humphries, defensive lineman DaQuan Jones, long-snapper Beau Brinkley, wide receiver Cameron Batson, tight end Tommy Hudson, fullback Khari Blasingame and cornerback Greg Mabin -- have been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell warned the league's 32 teams Monday of penalties, including potential forfeits of games, for violations of COVID-19 protocols that force changes in the schedule.

The franchise has continued daily testing since the NFL told the Titans to close their facility on Sept. 29, and the league sent all 32 teams a memo Thursday with a list of new protocols for clubs to follow when dealing with an outbreak or having been exposed to an outbreak during the coronavirus pandemic.
