Video After The Jump

What started out as a family argument ended in the death of a Moore, Oklahoma man, who was being placed under arrest by police at the time.

Luis Rodriguez and his wife of 22 years, Nair, took their family to Warren Theater on February 15. Nair got into an argument with her 19-year old daughter and slapped her.

Police were called to the scene by a theater patron. They claim Luis was uncooperative and aggressive when they tried to question him.

“He basically would not provide any identifying information, was trying to leave,” said Chief Jerry Stillings told KFOR. “Eventually, when told he could not leave, he took an aggressive stance, clenching his fists. Officers felt threatened at that point.”

Officers attempted to arrest the 44-year old man, but were shrugged off with one arm, according to Billings.

A total of five cops eventually took Luis to the ground, pepper sprayed him and placed 2 pairs of handcuffs on his wrists. Nair took out her cell phone and started filming the incident.

About 5 seconds into the video, Luis sounds like he says "I can't breathe," as he's being held face down on the concrete by the officers.

Nair repeatedly asks him if he is OK, but Luis doesn't respond. She eventually starts to accuse the cops of beating her husband prior to her filming.

"That man doesn't look for trouble at all," she says. "You all, five men, hitting that guy just because our daughter made bad decisions."

By the time police sit Luis up he looks unconscious. An ambulance does arrive at the scene, however it was too late for Luis. He died that night.

Nair's cell phone with the arrest footage was taken by police. When it was given back, she and her lawyer decided to release it on Tuesday (February 25).

Attorney Michael Brooks-Jimenez, left, holds the hand of Nair Rodriguez, right, as he speaks to reporters Tuesday after releasing cellphone video showing Rodriguez’s husband, Luis, being held down by Oklahoma police. The man died in custody.

Attorney Michael Brooks-Jimenez, left, holds the hand of Nair Rodriguez, right, as he speaks to reporters Tuesday after releasing cellphone video showing Rodriguez’s husband, Luis, being held down by Oklahoma police.

"Luis committed no crime. He wasn't armed. No gun. No knife. No weapon of any kind," Attorney Michael Brooks-Jimenez told reporters Tuesday. "But Luis is the one who lost his life that night."

An autopsy is being performed to determine Luis' exact cause of death.

The Oklahoma State of Investigation has taken over the investigation. Three of the officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the OSA's findings.

The Rodriguez family is still not satisfied and want to make sure Luis did not die in vain.

“My husband died in a very vicious way,” Nair told KCOR. “This cannot be in vain and will not. We’re going to fight. We are more afraid and scared of the police than we are of the criminal because at least with the criminal, we have a chance to prove they were after us. With police, they have the authority and power. They are the Goliath of the system but we are the David. But David at the end, defeat with one stone.“[Officers] beat my husband on the face repeatedly when his body was moveless. He was a man of God. A man that could fight for his life, but decided not to."

Luis' son, Ryan Medina, is also speaking out.

12350649265?profile=original

It's uncalled for. It never should have happened. No matter what they say. It doesn't excuse them to do what they did," Ryan said.

The victim had no prior arrests.

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau (Center) has been in several recent videos despite claims he was dead

Video After The Jump

(Reuters) - Gunmen from Islamist group Boko Haram shot or burned to death 59 pupils in a boarding school in northeast Nigeria overnight, a hospital official and security forces said on Tuesday.

"Some of the students' bodies were burned to ashes," Police Commissioner Sanusi Rufai said of the attack on the Federal Government college of Buni Yadi, a secondary school in Yobe state, near the state's capital city of Damaturu.

12350651673?profile=original

Bala Ajiya, an official at the Specialist Hospital Damaturu, told Reuters by phone the death toll had risen to 59.

"Fresh bodies have been brought in. More bodies were discovered in the bush after the students who had escaped with bullet wounds died from their injuries," he said.

Rafai, who had given an earlier estimate of 29 killed, said all those killed were boys. He said the school's 24 buildings, including staff quarters, were completely burned to the ground.

President Goodluck Jonathan called the attack "callous and senseless murder ... by deranged terrorists and fanatics who have clearly lost all human morality and descended to bestiality".

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan

The Islamists, whose struggle for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands and made them the biggest threat to security in Africa's top oil producer, are increasingly preying on the civilian population.

12350652865?profile=original

Boko Haram

Militants from Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is sinful" in the northern Hausa language, have frequently attacked schools in the past. A similar attack in June in the nearby village of Mamudo left 22 students dead.

_73206024_df013d96-8199-470a-b182-8607abf8ecd5.jpg

They have killed more than 300 people this month, mostly civilians, including in two attacks last week that killed around 100 each, one in which militants razed a whole village and shot panicked residents as they tried to flee.

Boko-Haram-Violence.jpg

That attack prompted U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to condemn Boko Haram for "unspeakable ... acts of terror".

130902_john_kerry_ap_605.jpg

The failure of the military to protect civilians is fuelling anger in the northeast, the region worst affected by the four-and-a-half-year insurgency. An offensive ordered by Jonathan in May has not succeeded in crushing the rebels and has triggered reprisals against civilians.

A military spokesman for Yobe state, Captain Lazarus Eli, said "our men are down there in pursuit of the killers", but gave no further details.

Addressing a news conference on Monday, Jonathan defended the military's record, saying it had had some successes against Boko Haram. He said Nigeria was working with the Cameroon authorities to try to prevent militants from mounting attacks in Nigeria and then fleeing over the border.

The military shut the northern part of the border with Cameroon on the weekend.

The insurgents mostly occupy the remote, hilly Gwoza area bordering Cameroon, from where they attack civilians they accuse of being pro-government. They have started abducting girls, a new tactic reminiscent of Uganda's cult-like Lord's Resistance Army in decades past.

Video After The Jump

Former Shady/Aftermath artist Stat Quo recently sat down with HipHopDX to break down being independent vs being on a major label and explains why 50 Cent's departure from Interscope was a smart move.

On the advantages of being independent

You can put your own music on iTunes. iTunes takes 30% of it. That means essentially they sell it for $9.99. You're getting $7.00. Even if you go through an indy online distributor. Let's say they take 20% and you get 80% of it, you're still winning. So, if I sell a CD... say I just put it on iTunes. I'm getting $7.00 in my pocket for every CD I sell. Whereas if you go through a [major] label, they give you a dollar. Some change? A label is only good at building your brand to where you can go all over the world, and be who you are.

12350557253?profile=original

On why 50 Cent made the right move to ink a deal Caroline/Capitol/UMG.

50 Cent is who he is. What he's doing is very intelligent. Because that brand is solidified. Eventually it's just a natural progression. He's as big as he's gonna get under [Interscope]. At this time, it's time to do something else with his career. How long is he going to stay under Eminem and Dre? At a certain point it's like, 'I'm my own boss.' He's been his own boss for a long time, but truly your own sh*t. He's looking at Jay and Puffy and he's like, 'I made just as much money as them, why would I not put my own shit out?' Everybody knows 50 Cent.
