Anderson Silva, perhaps the greatest mixed martial artist in history has been hit with the maximum penalty by Nevada Athletic Commission Chairman Francisco Aguilar, for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.
The decision came down Thursday, August 13, following a hearing in which Silva offered inconsistent testimony for his January 9, 2015, positive test for the banned substance Drostanolone, several weeks before his fight with Nick Diaz.
The former champion was suspended for one year, fined$380,000and had his victory over Diaz overturned. The bout has now been ruled a no contest.
The penalty is retroactive, meaning the 40-year old Brazilian can return to action in February 2016.
UFC officials backed the decision and said they would welcome Silva back once his suspension has been lifted.
"The UFC organization maintains a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by its athletes, and fully supports the Commission's ongoing efforts to ensure clean competition by all MMA athletes," a statement from the organization read. "The UFC recognizes Silva's great career and looks forward to his return to the Octagon in 2016."

Since news of Wu-Tang affiliate, Popa Wu, confronting Action Bronson hit the Internet, fans have been eager to find out exactly what Popa Wu said to him. It's clear he approached the young rap star after his back and forth with Ghostface Killah over his recent ESPN comments.
According to Popa Wu, everyone was in the parking lot reminiscing over rapper, Sean Price, when Bronson was brought over to him. He then went on to briefly chastise the Queens emcee, a "natural conversation" he says the media turned into something it shouldn't have. Going on to state he "just talked to the kid," Popa Wu says Bronson stood there looking "amazed" when he spoke, and was quick to add that "Ghost[face Killah] (who later confirmed this) ain't have nothing to do with this."
During Popa Wu's talk with us he also addresses the people who felt he was being disrespectful for confronting Bronson during Sean Price's wake. "If you wasn't there just don't say nothing," he advises. Hear it all above.
New music from Sean Price's upcoming mixtape, 'Songs In The Key Of Price,' out August 21. Bundle packages available at: www.duckdown.com/seanprice featuring exclusive T-shirts, socks, CD, and "key" bottle opener.

An elderly woman has been told she is no longer welcome at First African Baptist Church In Bainbridge, Georgia because she has not been tithing.
92-year old Josephine King received a letter from Senior Pastor Derrick Mike, stating she "is no longer considered a member" because she "has shown non-support" financially and physically, according to WALB.
Josephine King
King had been a member of the church for five decades, but had been unable to attend regularly as of late because she's been sick and shut-in.
Gerald Simmons
"She was stunned. She was disappointed. She was shocked," said Gerald Simmons, of his aunt. "You shouldn't chase the individuals down. You shouldn't do that. If that's the case, you're money hungry. You have to have money to make these churches run, but it's not about money. It's about God. You have to put God first."
Simmons added that his aunt had gone above and beyond to financially support the church in the past and hopes it changes it's policy.
Charlamagne Tha God awarded the church a well deserved "Donkey of the Day."

TIANJIN, China (AP) — Huge, fiery blasts at a warehouse for hazardous chemicals killed at least 50 people and turned nearby buildings into skeletal shells in the Chinese port of Tianjin, raising questions Thursday about whether the materials had been properly stored.
Hundreds of people were injured in the explosions shortly before midnight Wednesday, which sent out massive fireballs that turned the night sky into day and shattered windows several kilometers (miles) away. Twelve of the dead were from among the more than 1,000 firefighters sent to the mostly industrial zone to fight the ensuing blaze.
"I thought it was an earthquake, so I rushed downstairs without my shoes on," said Tianjin resident Zhang Siyu, whose home is several kilometers (miles) from the blast site. "Only once I was outside did I realize it was an explosion. There was the huge fireball in the sky with thick clouds. Everybody could see it."
Zhang said she could see wounded people weeping. She said she did not see anyone who had been killed, but "I could feel death."
The municipal government in Tianjin, a key port and petrochemical processing hub about 120 kilometers (75 miles) east of Beijing, said 701 people were injured, including 71 in serious condition. It gave no figure for the missing.
There was no indication of what caused the blasts, and no immediate sign of any toxic cloud in the air as firefighters brought the fire largely under control by morning. However, the Tianjin government suspended further firefighting to allow a team of chemical experts to survey hazardous materials at the site, assess dangers to the environment and decide how best to proceed.
State media said senior management of the company had been detained, and that President Xi Jinping demanded severe punishment for anyone found responsible for the explosions.
"It was like what we were told a nuclear bomb would be like," said truck driver Zhao Zhencheng, who spent the night in the cab of his truck after the blasts. "I've never even thought I'd see such a thing. It was terrifying, but also beautiful."
In a sign of sensitivity over the hazardous materials stored at the warehouse, state broadcaster CCTV went into a live broadcast of a news conference in Tianjin when the head of the municipality's Environmental Protection Bureau chief, Wen Wurui, was speaking. He said there had been no apparent impact on air monitoring stations, but that water samples were still being examined.
However, when a reporter asked him whether the chemicals at the warehouse had been stored far enough away from residences in the area and Wen seemed at a loss for a response, the broadcaster suddenly cut away from the news conference, only to return to it again later.
Authorities said the blasts started at shipping containers at the warehouse owned by Ruihai Logistics, a company that says it stores hazardous materials including flammable petrochemicals, sodium cyanide and toluene diisocyanate.
The initial blast apparently triggered an even bigger one. The National Earthquake Bureau said the first blast was the equivalent of 3 tons of TNT, and the second 21 tons. The enormous fireballs from the blasts rolled through a nearby parking lot, turning a fleet of 1,000 new cars into scorched metal husks.
As is customary during disasters, Chinese authorities tried to keep a tight control over information. Police kept journalists and bystanders away with a cordon about 1 or 2 kilometers (about a mile) from the site. On China's popular microblogging platform of Weibo, some users complained that their posts about the blasts were deleted, and the number of searchable posts on the disaster fluctuated, in a sign that authorities were manipulating or placing limits on the number of posts.
The website of the logistics company became inaccessible Thursday.
The Tianjin government said that because of the blasts it had suspended online access to public corporate records. These records might be used to trace the ownership of Ruihai. It was not clear whether the blackout was due to technical damage related to the explosion. No one answered the phone at the Tianjin Market and Quality Supervision Administration or the Tianjin Administration for Industry and Commerce on Thursday.
Ruihai Logistics said on its website — before it was shut down — that it was established in 2011 and is an approved company for handling hazardous materials. It said it handles 1 million tons of cargo annually.
Photos taken by bystanders and circulating on microblogs show a gigantic fireball high in the sky with a mushroom cloud. Other photos on state media outlets showed a sea of fire that painted the night sky bright orange, with tall plumes of smoke.
About 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the explosion site is the luxury Fifth Avenue apartment complex on a road strewn with broken glass and pieces of charred metal thrown from the explosion. Like surrounding buildings, the Mediterranean-style complex had all its windows blown out, and some of its surfaces were scorched.
"It's lucky no one had moved in," said a worker on the site, Liu Junwei, 29. "But for us it's a total loss. Two years of hard work down the drain."
"It had been all quiet, then the sky just lit up brighter than day and it looked like a fireworks show," said another worker on the site who gave just his surname, Li.
Tianjin, with a population of about 15 million, is being promoted by the Chinese government as a center for finance and high-tech industry. The Tianjin Economic Development Area has attracted foreign investors including Motorola, Toyota, Samsung and Novozymes.

Associated Press writers Ian Mader, Didi Tang and Joe McDonald in Beijing and Erika Kinetz in Shanghai contributed to this report.
On Wednesday, August 12, TMZ published a story about Lamar Odom confronting his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, outside of her gym. The former NBA player allegedly grabbed Khloe by the arm and an argument ensued. Things reportedly settled down when a witness threatened to call the police.
It was enough to make Lamarseek out a TMZ photographer to tell his side of the story. He said the meeting was pre-arranged and denied grabbing or arguing with Khloe.
The 35-year old Queens, New York native went on to blast the website for what he considers to be biased reporting and basically getting him blackballed by the NBA with stories about his alleged drug use and womanizing.
"To everybody that I know and supports me, I'm sorry. That's just it. The dog has to bite back," Odon said. "Y'all won. Y'all beat me down, degraded me, said I would do everything in the world. I'm a womanizer, a fucking drug addict...everything. I probably couldn't get hired by fucking Home Depot right now."
Long Island emcee Chris Miles, becomes the paparazzi's latest rebel in his video for "Psychotic," a single from his forthcoming Milestones EP. The Nick Monson-produced single, which finds the rapper contemplating the stability of stardom, was shot in the paparazzi capital of the US, Los Angeles. Set in an old-styled mansion and spliced with clips of the 16-year-old aggressively avoiding mass media, Miles illustrates his reluctant acceptance of the life he's headed towards. Primarily shot with a vintage lens native to movie scenes in insane asylums, the visuals give off a slightly discomforting ambience, further embodying the track's title.
Meek Mill is not interested in entertaining any more beefs. He posted a long explanation on his Instagram account on Wednesday, August 12, saying the back and forth disses with Drake are over.
The post was later deleted, but you can read it in full below, then draw your own conclusions.
I'm assuming this means the beef with Ar-Ab is also over with.
The conflict between Ghostface Killah and Action Bronson apparently has not yet been resolved. Bronson showed up at the wake for the late, great Sean Price and was confronted by Wu Tang Clan OG, Popa Wu.
In the video (above) you can see Popa standing face to face talking to Bronson on Tuesday, August 11th. A few seconds later Action leaves the McManus Funeral Home in Flatlands, Brooklyn, New York.
As we previously reported, this all started about a month ago when Bronson appeared on ESPN's SportsNation and seemed to take a shot at Ghostface.
“I think it’s indifferent at this point. People compare Coke and Pepsi. People compare everything. No matter what, you’re going to get a comparison to something. I’m just glad it’s one of the greats," Bronson said at the time. "He’s not rapping like this no more.”
Ghostface responded with a YouTube video going at Action's neck.
"You got this little fake a$$ n*gga Action Bronson, running around, sounding like me. But I wanna tell this lil' fat f*ck something," Ghostface says. "I gave you a grace period n*gga. I was supposed to have destroyed you a long time ago. You go on SportsNation kicking that sh*t, acting like you the n*gga, and like, where I'm at? First of all you lil' fat f*ck, who gives you the right to even mention my name out your motherf*cking mouth? Bron' you done made a mistake boy. You done f*cked up man," Ghost continues. "Because listen man, you could never f*ck with my pen my n*gga. I'm too nasty for you. This is why the f*ck you look up to me and sound like me. I'm not making this a black or white thing my n*gga. I'm making this a Ghost/Action Bronson thing. You have to watch what you say, but I guess you've never been taught that. You walk around the club with no shoes on. [A] big a$$ beard that one day I might set that sh*t on fire, just for f*cking saying my name. I got [shooter's] that'll do disappearing acts on motherf*cker's for nothing. This fat, funky a$$ n*gga is a fraud. Don't let me hang you from a f*cking rope and guy you like a pig!"
Bronson later apologized, but was rejected by Ghostface.
