(WKYC3) CLEVELAND — A Warrensville Heights man now faces more charges after he punched his defense lawyer in the face following his sentencing for another crime.
David Chislton, 42, was sentenced to 47 years in prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and setting fire to a Warrensville Heights apartment building in 2017. Chislton was hit with several charges, including aggravated arson, domestic violence and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Authorities responded to the domestic violence situation that turned into a raging fire at the Miles Landing apartment complex on Banbury Circle on April 10, 2017.
According to police, the incident began with an argument between Chislton and his girlfriend around 2 p.m. His girlfriend was able to get away safely, but Chislton barricaded himself in the building, threatening to harm himself and others.
Chislton set fire to a second floor unit before a tactical team took him into custody. The fire caused significant damage and displaced several families.
While investigating the arson, authorities also learned that Chislton was engaging in sexual misconduct with his step-daughter. He was also charged in the death of a dog.
When Judge Nancy Margaret Russo announced Chislton's sentence, the defendant turned and punched his lawyer, Aaron Brockler.
Brockler said he was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken nose and severe concussion. He also said Chislton had been handcuffed in the front, not with his hands behind his back.
"What occurred in courtroom 18-C today was unfortunate, and we are thankful that Attorney Aaron Brockler was not more seriously injured. We wish him the best in a speedy recovery," administrative and presiding Judge John Russo said in a statement issued Tuesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — The chief executive and chief creative officer of luxury fashion powerhouse Burberry have apologized for putting a hoodie with strings tied in the shape of a noose on their London Fashion Week runway.
The knotted strings surfaced after Sunday’s show when a model hired to walk (but not wear the outfit) complained both before the show and on Instagram, saying the noose not only evoked lynchings but also suicide.
Marco Gobbetti, the brand’s CEO, said in a statement Tuesday that Burberry is “deeply sorry for the distress” the top has caused and has removed it from the autumn-winter collection, along with all images featuring the look.
Riccardo Tisci, Burberry’s creative director, also apologized, saying “while the design was inspired by a nautical theme, I realize that it was insensitive.”
Model Liz Kennedy took to Instagram the day of the show, posting a photo of the hoodie with a long message directed at Burberry and Tisci.
“Suicide is not fashion,” she wrote. “It is not glamorous nor edgy and since this show is dedicated to the youth expressing their voice, here I go. Riccardo Tisci and everyone at Burberry it is beyond me how you could let a look resembling a noose hanging from a neck out on the runway.”
She added, “Let’s not forget about the horrifying history of lynching either.”
Her post has prompted dozens of negative social media comments directed at Burberry and Tisci.
The collection, called “Tempest,” is Tisci’s second for the brand. The clothes were a mix of classic, severely tailored ensembles to more trendy street-inspired looks aimed at younger consumers.
Kennedy and other critics said the company should have known better.
“A massive brand like Burberry who is typically considered commercial and classy should not have overlooked such an obvious resemblance. I left my fitting extremely triggered after seeing this look. Feeling as though I was right back where I was when I was going through an experience with suicide in my family,” Kennedy wrote on Instagram.
She said she asked to speak to somebody about it and was told to write a letter.
“I had a brief conversation with someone but all that it entailed was ‘It’s fashion. Nobody cares about what’s going on in your personal life so just keep it to yourself.’”
Gobbetti said he called Kennedy to apologize as soon as he became aware of her concerns on Monday.
“The experience Ms. Kennedy describes does not reflect who we are and our values. We will reflect on this, learn from it and put in place all necessary actions to ensure it does not happen again.”
The gaffe comes after Gucci removed a sweater from the market last week after complaints that the oversized collar designed to cover the face resembled blackface makeup. In December, Prada stopped selling baubles that also prompted complaints of racist imagery.
Those two companies have announced initiatives to foster cultural diversity and awareness among their employees to avoid future missteps.

Accomplished hip-hop producer and founding member of Cypress Hill, DJ Muggs has announced the details for his new collaborative album with Rochester spitter Eto entitled "Hell's Roof". The news of the new album comes accompanied by a slick new visual for the track "Holy Wine" online. The duo's new album will drop across all digital platforms on March 1st, 2019 via Soul Assassins Records and is now available for pre-order in vinyl, cassette, a deluxe edition CD online at wwwSoulassassins.com.
"I had just finished the 'Kaos' album and wanted to work with someone new, and relatively unknown. I was talking to Meyhem Lauren one day and asked him if he knew any dope MCs. And he said he knows this kid from Rochester, New York named Eto and he’s dope. So I sent him a track for the 'DIA DEL ASESINATO' album and he destroyed it," remembers DJ Muggs. "So after that we started doing a new song here and there. I asked ETO if he had an idea for an album title and he said 'Hells Roof', which is a name they call his home turf. When he said it I immediately knew that's it."
"Hell's Roof is a name we call Rochester, because it's our stomping ground, and the dark sound that Muggs provides is the perfect backdrop," says ETO.
"HELLS ROOF" is a 12-song album that paints a dark picture using haunting samples and dense drums, and introspective rhymes that tell a dark story about the life in a city that ranks among the poorest in the entire country. According to a census poll, 33% of Rochester’s residents currently live in poverty and a staggering 50% of children live below the poverty line, which ranks inside the Top 10 for worst in the entire country. With poverty reaching epidemic levels, residents turn to life on the streets as a solution and the city of Rochester's violent crime rate is 151% higher than in comparison to the New York average per capita. The combination of the legendary West Coast producer and the young fiery spitter with roughneck verses creates a powerful sound on “HELLS ROOF”.
A limited-edition vinyl version of "HELLS ROOF" vinyl will be released via Rappcats with unique packaging that is limited to just 150 units.
The album follows the recent releases of Cypress Hill's Elephants On Acid album produced entirely by Muggs, his collaborative effort "KAOS" with Brooklyn's finest Roc Marciano, and DJ Muggs' acclaimed solo LP "Dia Del Asesinato".

Report via CNN -- Prosecutors investigating R. Kelly are looking into a newly surfaced video featuring the R&B superstar, lawyer Michael Avenatti told CNN.
CNN has seen the VHS tape that appears to show Kelly having sex with a girl who refers to her body parts as 14 years old. Avenatti, who is representing a man he calls a whistleblower against Kelly, says he handed the tape to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in Chicago last weekend.
"My client knows the identity of the girl and R. Kelly. He identified the two of them on the videotape. He worked for and has known R. Kelly for decades and he met the girl on a number of occasions," Avenatti said.
On Thursday, Avenatti tweeted out a statement describing the tape.
Steve Greenberg, Kelly's attorney, told CNN he had not heard of the development.
"We are unaware of any new information involving Mr. Kelly," he told CNN. "We have not been contacted by anyone. We have not been informed about any new information by anyone and we have not been contacted by law enforcement."
Tandra R. Simonton, chief communications officer for the State's Attorney's Office said: "We cannot confirm or deny an investigation."
The newly unearthed footage, which lasts 42 minutes and 45 seconds, is clear and explicit.
There are two scenes on the video: one apparently in a living room and another in a bedroom. A naked man who appears to be R. Kelly is seen performing multiple sex acts with the girl. She is heard calling him "daddy" multiple times.
It is impossible to know her age just from the video. They both refer to her "14-year-old p***y." Six times the girl refers to her genitalia as 14 years old.
At one point, the man asks the girl to urinate. After she does, he urinates on her.
What is on the video mirrors some of the alleged acts for which Kelly was arrested for child pornography in 2002, when he was 35, and then acquitted six years later.
That case centered on another video involving a man having sex with a girl who prosecutors said was as young as 13 years old, media reports said.
Much was made at the trial about the identity of the man on the tape and whether an identifying mole on Kelly was visible on that video.
In the new video reviewed by CNN, a small mole can be seen on the man's back just to the left of his spine.
Kelly has been associated with claims of sexual misconduct with minors and other crimes for more than two decades. He has been sued by multiple women accusing him of having sex with them when they were underage. He has denied the accusations and all cases, with the exception of the trial where he was acquitted, have been settled out of court.
And while he is one of the most successful R&B acts in history, there has been a growing movement against him.
Music industry colleagues and former fans backed a #MuteRKelly campaign to stop his music being played.
In July 2017, Buzzfeed published an explosive article outlining claims that Kelly was holding a group of adult women against their will as part of what some of their parents say was a "cult."
A group of people cited in the article claimed that their daughters, ages 18 to 31, were a part of an entourage of at least six women attached to Kelly.
Joycelyn Savage, one of the young women, denied those claims and asked her parents, via a video shared with TMZ, to stop speaking out about her relationship with Kelly.
In January 2019, the release of a docuseries called "Surviving R. Kelly" on Lifetime television helped boost the public campaign against him.
In that series women said they were kept in abusive sexual relationships.
After the series aired, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx urged potential victims or witnesses to speak to police.
At the same time, Kelly's attorney, Greenberg, told CNN that his client "has done nothing wrong ... Someone with an agenda has done a hit piece," Greenberg said of the docuseries. "(Kelly's) out in public. He's not hiding. There's no secret compound with sex slaves."
