At least 19 people have been killed in a stampede at the Love Parade dance music festival in the German city of Duisburg, police have said.

Police had been trying to stop people reaching the parade area because of overcrowding.

But the revellers panicked at a tunnel entrance. About 100 people were also injured, dozens seriously.

Police and city officials have launched an investigation into what sparked off the disaster.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has sent her condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

"Young people came to party. Instead, there was death and injury. I am aghast and saddened by the sorrow and the pain," she said.

Duisburg Mayor Adolf Sauerland defended security measures for the festival and vowed to hold a full inquiry.

"In the run-up to the event, we worked out a solid security plan with the organisers and everyone involved," he said.

"The investigations that have already been launched must uncover the precise course of events."

'Way too full'
More than one million people were believed to have attended the event.

The stampede occurred at about 1700 local time (1500 GMT).

Duisburg police initially reported 10 deaths but the toll later increased to 19.

At least 10 people were resuscitated at the scene.

Reuters news agency quoted police commissioner Juergen Kieskemper as saying the situation had become "very chaotic".

He said police closed the parade area due to overcrowding. Those trying to get in were told via loudhailer to turn around, but panic broke out.

A number of eyewitnesses say police were warned of a huge crowd build-up and some report seeing dozens of people piled up on one another, the BBC's Tristana Moore in Germany says.

Emergency workers reportedly had difficulty reaching those crushed.

One festival-goer, named Marius, told the Bild newspaper: "There was no escape. People were pressed into the wall. I was afraid I'd die."

Another man told local television: "The pressure from behind become so high that... we couldn't do anything any more. People were just pushed together until they fell over."

Another participant, Isabel Schloesser, told Reuters: "There were piles of injured on the ground, some being resuscitated, others dead and covered with sheets. It was way too full in the afternoon, everybody wanted to get in."

A young woman told Die Welt: "Everywhere you looked, there were people with blue faces.

"My boyfriend pulled me out over the bodies, otherwise we would both have died in there. How can I ever forget those faces? The faces of the dead."

Police closed off an elevated motorway bridge to allow helicopters to land and evacuate victims.

City officials were said to have chosen not to evacuate the grounds of the day-long festival immediately, fearing it might spark more panic.

City spokesman Frank Kopatschek said: "The crisis meeting determined not to stop the event because at the moment there are too many people on the grounds."

Many of those attending appeared unaware of what had happened.

German President Christian Wulff issued a statement saying: "It is terrible that such a catastrophe brought death, suffering and pain to a peaceful festival full of happy young people from many countries."

The event attracts music fans from all over the world, with floats from Brazil, Russia, the Netherlands, Spain and Australia among other nations.

The floats had been expected to parade through the city for 10 hours. Many top international DJs also perform.

The event began in Berlin in 1989 as a peace demonstration and developed into a huge open-air music festival.

The "Saw" horror movie franchise now has a place in the Guinness World Records as the "Most Successful Horror Movie Series.".

"I'm still in shock," one of the film's producer's Mark Burg told Reuters. "The fact that we beat out (such horror franchises as) 'Friday the 13th,' 'Nightmare on Elm Street,' 'Halloween' and 'Texas Chain Saw Massacre' is a testament to our cast, crew and our partners at Lionsgate."

The franchise consists of six movies, each one having come out consecutively every Halloween since 2004. The seventh, and final, installment is due out October 29th and will be featured in 3D.

Collectively, the "Saw" films have made over $730 million at the worldwide box-office and sold more than thirty million DVDs, according to distributors Lionsgate.

The films center around a killer named Jigsaw who puts his victims through psychological torture before killing them.

Burg said it was during the production of "Saw 2," that the producers decided to "etch out" one long story spanning seven films. Therefore, after the seventh movie, called "Saw 3D," there will be no other movies, including spin-offs or prequels.

"We are done; this is it," he said. "We don't want to be that boxer who fought one too many fights."

Burg said the seventh chapter was always "anticipated" by fans as the final one.

"In every 'Saw' movie, we left questions open and in this movie we answer every question the audience has ever had," Burg said, adding that even new viewers will be able to follow and "get caught up to speed."

The Guinness presentation took place at San Diego's Comic-Con convention on Friday (July 23). London-based Guinness Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday was on hand to present the award to the film's producers

Saw, originally created as a short film in 2003 by Australian director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell, beat out:

*Scream (three films): $507 million.
*Friday the 13th (12 films): $465 million.
*A Nightmare On Elm Street (nine films): $447 million.
*Halloween (10 films) $367 million

(AllHipHop News) Producer/mogul Dr. Dre is being sued for millions of dollars for breach of contract, for allegedly failing to pay the bill for recording services.

Paramount Recording Studios is suing Dr. Dre, born Andre Young, for $1,220,500, for breach of contract, according to the lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday (July 23rd).

Dr. Dre has recorded at Paramount for at least ten years, allowing him to receive a cheaper rate for recording at the studio.

According to the lawsuit, Dr. Dre and his record label Aftermath Entertainment allegedly rented the recording studio from April 2009 until June of 2010.

Paramount claims that they were never paid for the dates in question

Dr. Dre agreed to settle the bill with Paramount Recording Studios by July 13th, but failed to do so, resulting in the lawsuit.

Dr. Dre is putting the final touches on his highly anticipated album, Detox.

His label, Aftermath, currently has the #1 album in the country, as Eminem’s album Recovery has been at the top of the charts for the past four weeks.

Rockers Kasabian were amazed to learn Jay-Z takes his own toilet roll to festivals.

Jay-Z takes his own toilet roll everywhere with him
.

The '99 Problems' hitmaker stunned fellow T in the Park performers Kasabian at the Scottish festival recently when they spotted him backstage, and the 'Fire' rockers now claim they will only feel famous when they get to the same level of access to luxury items.

Kasabian singer Tom Meighan revealed: "The reason Kasabian aren't as big as Jay-Z yet? We need to have our own festival toilet paper

"I noticed at T that he had a huge circus around him, his own toilet and his own toilet paper.

"That's what we're aiming for next. Our own loo roll and then we'll know we're massive."

Jay-Z - who caused controversy when he became the first hip-hop artist to headline the world-famous Glastonbury festival in 2008 - has previously admitted he finds performing at multi-artist shows a "challenge."

He said: "At festivals, some people are there to see you, some people are there to see the act before you, some people have no idea who you are. So how do you take that audience of all those different people and make them focus on one point? That's the challenge."

Several days ago rapper T.I. told In Touch about the advice he would give Lindsay Lohan during her jail stint.

T.I. probably feels a connection between the two because of their celebrity status and run ins with the law. So the man born Clifford Harris has these words for Lindsay.

“The first thing would be to recognize and identify the problem,” T.I. told In Touch.

Accept the fact that there needs to be adjustments made — and then it’s all in execution and solving the problem.”

That was cool TIP, certainly encouraging words. If only Lilo could concentrate on them over the taunting of inmates yelling "fire crotch" at her. The name was an insult originally used against Linds by Paris Hilton friend, Baron Davis several years ago. Now her fellow inmates are using it to torment the actress.

According to the Daily Mirror, Lilo was placed in isolation because she suffered a breakdown. Her constant crying and wailing could be heard all through the night at Lynwood Women's Prison.

Former inmate, Cheryl Presser told The Mirror "She is in with the killers and she has only been let out for hour-long breaks, and during those she was locked down to a table. Today (Friday), Lindsay got put on lockdown. While some of us got two hours to go to the yard, or the TV room, Lindsay was on total lockdown.

“She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling so she got put in isolation.”

Luckily for Linds she will be out in a week or so. Maybe then she will be able to use T.I.'s wise words of advice.

She wondered why Whoopi Goldberg would defend Mel Gibson's racist rants.

"Whoopi Goldberg came out defending him [Mel Gibson], saying he's been to her house. She might wanna check her house and see what he left behind there. He prolly peed all on the toilet seat."

She also joked about wanting to adopt a baby, but not able being to get a black one because white stars have adopted them all..

"Angelina [Jolie] and Madonna they got all the black babies, I just gotta take what's left."

Diggy Simmons is already a celebrity as a result of his famous father, Rev Run, but the teen rapper has hopes of becoming a bona fide star in his own right through his music.

He's just begun his journey. Late last year, the Run-DMC progeny released freestyles on the beats for Drake's "Over" and Nas' "Made U Look," causing the teen rhyme-spitter's profile to increase.

Now, he's been tapped as a top-five MTV News "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" finalist.

"Wow, that's huge," Simmons told MTV News' Sway. "That's dope. It's crazy to me. ... I'm at a loss for words. I've grinded and whatnot, but it's been a short amount of time. When I saw [the other 'Hottest Breakthrough' candidates], I was like, 'Eh.' I was excited that I was even put in there. But I didn't necessarily think I would win, because I haven't been grinding as long as some dudes. ... But the fact that I'm top five is huge."

The "Run's House" alum has released one mixtape already, First Flight, and is currently at work on the sequel, Airborne, which he hopes to drop shortly. He's inked a deal with Atlantic Records and is hard at work on his debut album.

The upstart also tweeted his appreciation for the nomination. "Wooow got voted into the top 5 for @mtv's breakthrough MC of 2010!!! #TeamDiggy ya'll are the best man I swear! Thank u :)"

Other MC's that made the top five are Nicki Minaj, Travis Porter, J. Cole and Wiz Khalifa.

Who do you guys think deserves to win?

"The thief's theme, play me at night, they won't act right/The fiend of hip-hop has got me stuck like a crack pipe/The mind activation, react like I'm facin/ time like 'Pappy' Mason with pens I'm embracin" --Nas "The World Is Yours"

Whatever you think about Nas's movements away from the vocal booth, there is no denying he has spit some of the most memorable lines in hip hop history.

From his classic debut album 'Illmatic' to his verbal slaughtering of Jay-Z during their beef, which culminated when Nas delivered the scathing diss "Ether". The man born, Nasir Jones is definitely an all time great.

The UK's Tim Westwood recently caught up with Nas and they addressed all issues from his personal divorce from Kelis to his upcoming solo album.

Nas started things off by talking about how he and Damian Marley came together for their 'Distant Relatives' album.

"I did "World Desire" with Damian on his last album. And I like how he get down. We'd been talking about doing more work. We were supposed to something on the 'Hip Hop Is Dead' album and it never materialized. So we'd been talking back and forth and we just planned to do a EP, but we just kept going and did a album."

It's been three years since Nas dropped a solo album. There was controversy surrounding his last project because Nas put his beef with Jay-Z to bed and essentially went to work for him by putting the album out on Def Jam. At that time Jay-Z was the President of the label.

Some of Nas' longtime fans felt like the rapper sold himself short by doing that.

There was also the drama surrounding the album's title. Nas originally planned to call the album 'N*gger'. He and then wife Kelis famously showed up at the 2008 Grammys with the word 'N*gger' emblazoned on their shirt and jacket. A very bad PR move in retrospect, but so it it has gone for Nas. It's usually hit or miss for the mc. The album ended up coming out untitled.

He's presently working on his next solo album.

"I'm definitely looking at my solo project, it's one of the most important records of my life," he tells Tim. "It's gonna be magice, I feel a magic thing brewing. I keep calling it a magic moment...that's what it's gon' be. I feel it, the stuff I'm writing down, the directions that I'm thinking about going into. It doesn't even matter what producers...if it's Swizz Beatz, if it's [DJ] Premier, if it's Alchemist, Dr Dre, Kanye West. All of these guys are guys that I love and guys that I been talking to about getting on the project. Actually, Kanye hit me up and said I wanna produce the album and RZA. I gotta deliver right now"

I've heard the saying "no matter how good a woman looks there is a man somewhere that is sick of her sh*t". But, my goodness I'm trying to think of a reason why The-Dream is divorcing Christina Milian.

I saw the pics of his new lady with him on the beach and...well she's no Christina.

According to The-Dream he "fell out of love" with the Cuban beauty and you can't fault him for that I guess.

However, Christina is on her workout routine tough and looking better than ever.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Frantic witnesses watched a white van speed away from the spot where two West Memphis police officers were shot in May, but one told an emergency operator with some resignation that "they're both dead now."

A prosecutor on Friday released telephone calls made to 911 operators after the May 20 shooting on an Interstate 40 exit ramp in eastern Arkansas.

Other callers helped police tracked the van to a Walmart parking lot, where the accused gunmen were killed in a shootout with police.

West Memphis police officers Bill Evans and Brandon Paudert were shot dead along the highway and police later killed Ohio residents Jerry and Joseph Kane.

Joseph was Jerry Kane's 16 year old son.

Previously released video showed the boy fired an AK-47 at officers after his father was pulled over for a traffic stop.

The Jay-Z is a Satanist/member of the Illuminati stories just won't go away.

He's tried ignoring them. Then playing into them. And when Rick Ross' Teflon Don album dropped this Tuesday, the artist officially took the issue head on with a guest verse on a song titled "Free Mason."

"I said I was amazing / Not that I'm a Mason / It's amazing that I made it though the maze that I was in / Lord forgive me I never would've made it without sin" - Jay-Z on "Free Mason"

Still, many MCs who claim the cross take issue with Jay-Z's recent imagery and hints at a dark side. In January, Houston rapper Bizzle made waves when he released a track called "Explaining to Do (Jay-Z Expose')" that was directed at the man who calls himself "Jay-hova."

The accompanying YouTube video (now at over 53,000 views) is filled with visual examples of possible connections to the occult and was featured on mainstream rap sites like Allhiphop.com and Worldstarhiphop.com. Overnight, the previously unknown Bizzle found himself in the middle of a firestorm.

"I'm really trying not to get stuck on the Jay-Z stuff and just want to focus on telling people about the Lord and his Good News," Bizzle said.

But obviously, the kid known for calling out Jay has an opinion about his "Free Mason" verse.

"I think he only cleared up things for 'blind' people who want to remain 'blind.' They didn't want to hear a real explanation, they just want to hear him say it's not true," Bizzle said.

"And no, I don't think it was a response to my song. If that's the case he would have addressed the specific points I raised. To me, the logic should be that if I brought up 20 signs that point to him being a Mason and having Satanic ties then he should have to bring up 21 things that say the opposite."

Other Christian rappers aren't so convinced. Dre' Murray (a Houston native) has shared songs with Bizzle but thinks that Jay-Z's verse adequately addressed the issue.

"Make no mistake, Jay'z imagery in the past, especially in the 'On to the Next One' video, was blatant. But I think he was just trying to push people's buttons," Murray said. "I think there was some clarity in 'Free Mason' where he owned up to some stuff and denied other parts.

"Could he be lying? Sure, but for me to devote all my time trying to figure out what he is or isn't really defeats my purpose as a Christian MC. Good should be out fighting evil, not sitting around talking about it."

Still, there's no clear consensus about Jay-Z's lyrics and actions in the holy hip hop community. Here's what outspoken New York rapper Lavoisier told me when he was in town for The Houston Project last week

What are your thoughts? Have you heard Jay-Z's "Free Mason" or Bizzle's "Explaining to Do?" Does the evidence add up to you or did Jay adequately address these concerns?

Zekey took time out recently to talk with Major Moves DVD about rumors that the recent reunion of Dipset might not be 100% real and much more.

"We just keep producing music and it's working out real good. I got my boy Sen City, that's my 1st artist off of 730 Dips," Freekey tells CEO Money Joe. "I'm running down South starting up this 730 Southern situation. 730 is a major movement rocking real hard right now especially in the south."

Zeek knows the streets have been talking about him, Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana getting back together. People want to know if it's genuine or just for the money.

"You gotta understand, once people start seeing...start visualizing and hearing something that was great...that was phenomenal start to form back up. It's always gonna be words and little quotes and chants of people trying to knock that sh*t down. 'Cause if it's not them on top, they don't wanna hear about it. So of course you gonna hear all the negative...' ah them n*ggas don't f*ck with eatch other, they just out here for the money'. I mean but which we are also you know what I'm sayin, but we not just out for the money. It's things we had to admit. Like we wasn't just a group of people that we knew was nice, we all was real family. Not through blood, but through the years we grew up. Before all this rap sh*t it was me, Cam and Jim."

Eminem worries he will become an embarrassment to his daughters.

The 'We Made You' hitmaker - who raises his 14-year-old child Hailie, 17-year-old adopted niece Alaina and former wife Kim's seven-year-old girl Whitney - admits it is growing increasingly different to show his love for the trio as they get older.

He said: "It's a catch-22: I want to, as a father, express my love for my girls, but I don't want to go too far with it, where it becomes a hindrance in their lives. When they were younger... it was easier."

The 37-year-old star - whose records have infamously mocked other people in the public eye - has previously battled an addiction to prescription drugs and admits his problems started when he "ran out" of enemies to target.

He explained to Spin magazine: "I was trapped in my head. I'd spent most of my career going against the grain. Calling bulls**t. And suddenly, I started running out of enemies.

"I started to become that cliche - my own worst enemy."

The Detroit-born star also revealed he sometimes goes back to the poverty-stricken neighbourhood where he grew up to remind himself of how far he has come in life.

He said: "It may sound corny, but I'll go by and try to remember how things were when I was in those houses.

"I'll go back and remember, like, f**k, man, how life was back then. How much of a struggle it was. As time goes by, you might get content and forget things."
