Cynthia Wachenheim and her husband Hal Bacharach in happier times.

Video And Pics After The Jump

Via New York Daily News

A Manhattan lawyer strapped her 10-month-old son to her chest and leaped to her death from an eighth-story window in Harlem on Wednesday — and the baby miraculously survived with little more than scratches, police sources said.

Cynthia Wachenheim, 44, who left a suicide note castigating herself for being a bad mother, landed on her back after taking the fatal plunge. Baby Keston was in a harness. He bounced off his mom on impact and then rolled away from her motionless arms.

“I heard a small scream when she was in the air,” said witness Steven Dominguez, 18. “I noticed something falling, but I didn’t want to believe it was a person.”

Dominguez, who teared up as he spoke, said the landing made a horrifying sound.

“It was a loud bang,” he said outside the woman’s building on Bradhurst Ave. near W. 147th St. “It sounded like a big piece of wood hitting the floor.”

“When I got closer, I saw the baby crying,” he said.

article_window_0313Cynthia Wachenheim and her 10-month-old son Keston plummeted eight stories from a Harlem building near W. 147th St.

The baby was in stable condition Wednesday night at Harlem Hospital, hours after his mother’s 3:30 p.m. jump.

Sources said Wachenheim left a rambling 13-page, handwritten suicide note on small pages of notebook paper.

“The note said she was not happy and she talked about what she planned to do,” a source said. In the note, Wachenheim is “saying to her husband, ‘I love you. I’m making you suffer. You’re going to think I’m evil,’” a source said.

“She thinks she’s a failing mother. On the last page, she refers to postpartum depression. She was supposed to see a therapist, but she blew him off.

“As the note goes on, you get the idea she’s explaining why she’s going to do it,” the source added.

The note, which mentions little Keston having a physical handicap, was unsigned — but cops compared it to handwriting samples and determined that it was written by Wachenheim, the source said.

article_window3_0313Wachenheim died, but her son Keston survived with minor injuries. He was in stable condition at Harlem Hospital.

Police learned — not from the note — that Wachenheim was convinced her baby had cerebral palsy, although doctors said there was nothing wrong with him, said the source.

Wachenheim’s husband, Hal Bacharach, 48, was at work when his wife jumped, the source said. He was spotted on surveillance video leaving the upscale building at 12:55 p.m., less than three hours before the leap. Neighbors said he stormed out of their two-bedroom condo after a loud argument. Shouting echoed through the halls.

“He was yelling at her today,” said Christian Johnson, 37. “It made me stop and listen. He was asking her why she wouldn’t pick up the phone. He kept repeating it. Then, the baby started crying.”

A police source said Wachenheim was taking antidepressants and that pills were found in the apartment.

A different police source said Wednesday was the first time police were ever called to the apartment. The couple had lived at The Sutton — where similar apartments run about $325,000 — for about three years.

Wachenheim, a high school valedictorian in Albany and a Columbia Law grad, was on maternity leave from her $118,000-a-year job in the city court system. She worked there for more than 15 years doing research and writing for judges.

article_window_1_WEBWachenheim, whose lifeless body lay on the street covered with a whire sheet, wrote a 13-page suicide note where she talked about not being happy and what she planned to do, a source said. She also said in the note to her husband that she loved him and was making him 'suffer.'

“She was wonderful — very devoted to the court (and) wonderful with everyone she worked with,” said her boss, John Werner, chief court clerk. “It’s a tragedy.”

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident,” said David Bookstaver, spokesman for the city’s Office of Court Administration. “Our thoughts are with her family.”

Two NYPD narcotics detectives were parking a car nearby and were the first to respond after they saw the tragic fall.

Cops took the boy, who appeared to only have scratches and minor injuries, to Harlem Hospital. He was listed in stable condition and was expected to survive. A source said he underwent a CT scan.

Neighbors were shocked that Wachenheim, who officials said worked as an associate court attorney with the New York County Law Office, took her only child with her in the fatal leap.

“She was very friendly,” said Yaa Dwamena, 32. “She always greeted you when you came in and out of the building. She didn’t seem like she was going through anything.”

article_window4_0313Neighbor Christian Johnson said he heard Wachenheim and her husband, Hal Bacharach, yelling at each other, but didn’t think it was anything more than a typical squabble until he saw Wachenheim dead.

A building worker described Wachenheim as a devoted mom.

“She was always holding him in her arms,” the worker said. “She was always with the baby. She loved that baby.”

Johnson, who has known the couple since they moved into the building, said he never saw signs of trouble.

“I saw her a little while ago,” he said. “She seemed stressed out — but what mother of a 10-month-old isn’t stressed out?”

Johnson also thought that Wednesday’s argument was just a typical squabble between parents, until he saw Wachenheim’s body on the sidewalk.

“I saw her on the ground and I lost it,” Johnson said.

Pics After The Jump

It's very rare to catch Nicki Minaj without her signature pink lipstick and long eyelashes. The Young Money star decided to go for a more natural look in her new photo shoot for the April issue of Elle magazine, which goes on sale on March 18th.

Check out an excerpt from Nicki's cover story with James Patrick Herman for the publication and her photo shoot with Thomas Whiteside below.

On her dramatic make-under for her ELLE photo shoot: "When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a… like, I'm so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it's hard. I feel that it's become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes— you know, nothing— I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."

On experiencing bullying in school as a child: "I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I've always put up this wall— it was a self-defense mechanism growing up— because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It's sad."

Her advice for women on how to command respect: "My advice to women in general: Even if you're doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don't allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can't play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That's what it's all about."

On her plans for world domination: "My goal in the beginning was to buy my mother a house. Now I realize, Okay, if I really focus and become a key player in business, then I can build an empire. I'm thinking of a legacy that I can be proud of and wealth that my grandchildren can use to go to college. So world domination— in terms of providing for my family— is absolutely my goal."

Despite having served 18 months in federal prison and losing millions of dollars in salary and endorsement deals following his 2007 conviction for running a dogfighting operation, some people refuse to let Michael Vick live his life in peace.

Since his May 2009 release from federal custody the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been a model citizen by all accounts, but he recently had to cancel a book tour to promote his autobiography "Finally Free" after "credible threats" were called into several Barnes & Noble Booksellers and an independent bookstore in New Jersey.

"It is disturbing that a few extremists would threaten Vick's family and store employees," said Vick's spokesman Chris Shigas. "Michael Vick has millions of fans and has countless letters from teachers thanking him for inspiring students to make positive change."

12349937290?profile=original

Despite the death threats, Vick refuses to hide.

According to TMZ, the NFL star will continue giving back to the community by working with the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization and Team Freedom Outreach (recreation and visitation programs for youth detention centers).

"Mike is committed to helping make his community a better place," Vick's rep says. "[He] is determined to continue his work with charity and helping others."

Security measures have been put into place in case more threats are made.

This looks like something Trinidad James would be more interested in if he were ever injured, but Lady Gaga has beaten him to the punch.

While recovering from hip surgery that forced her to cancel her world tour the pop singer is riding around in a one-of-a-kind wheelchair made of 24-karat gold.

Ken Borochov of the adornment luxury line Mordekai created the chair. He's done specialty pieces in the past for Cher Lloyd, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West, but was surprised when he heard what Gaga wanted.

"I certainly wasn't expecting that phone call and have never done a wheelchair but am always up for a challenge and was thrilled to create what I affectionately dubbed the Chariot, a chair fit only for a queen," Borochov told the New York Post

The gold plated chair "has a black leather seat complete with a removable leather canopy. The chair can also recline all the way back if Gaga needs to lie down."

Peep some pics below.

Lil Kim and Wendy Williams are in the middle of a beef after Wendy made negative comments about the Queen Bee's appearance on her show.

Kim has complained recently that the press has been photoshopping her pics to make her look unflattering and bloated.

12349933466?profile=original

12349933872?profile=original

Wendy read the comments and tried to clown Kim on her show by saying Kim would "pop and fly back to Jersey" if you stuck a pin in her. She added that Kim's goal has always been to look like Latoya Jackson, but she had overdone it.

Kim, in my mind, I knew your goal was always to look like La Toya Jackson. You’ve out-La Toya’d La Toya in your new look. Don’t blame Photoshopping, blame your plastic surgeon, girl,” Wendy said.

12349934064?profile=original

Kim fired back at Wendy on Twitter by claiming Biggie Smalls used the talk show host for oral sex back in the day them dumped her.

Video After The Jump

Cell phone footage has emerged of the Consequence and Joe Budden scrap that went down after Cons punched Joe at the Love & Hip Hop New York reunion yesterday.

It's hard to tell from the footage because the guy filming it didn't do a very good job, but it looks like Joe and one of his homies caught Cons slipping after the show.

While Cons is being pulled away from the fight his girlfriend, Jen The Pen can be seen/heard screaming "I'm calling the cops on you, you f*cking p*ssies!"

12349939460?profile=original

Cons didn't press charges.

12349939263?profile=original

Here's how the person who recorded the footage explained what he saw:

"I was at the reunion of LHH & during the commercial break as Joe Budden was walking off set Consequence sucker punched him from behind, when of course Tahiry followed up and snuffed Con. Later during the show Joe told him to meet him in the bathroom backstage but guards did not let that happen. Once the LHH Reunion was over as I was walking out the building I saw from the window Joe and his mans dressed in all black with their skullies on. Then Joe's man snuffed Consequence so I ran out with my phone and started to record. Jen The Pen (Consequence's girl) started screaming and you can see Con getting up off the floor from being tossed around. You can hear Joe Budden's man screaming "yea n*gga wassup" and then run off."

Ray Lewis had an incredible NFL career. In 17 NFL seasons as an inside linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens he made 2050 tackles, had 41.5 sacks and 31 interceptions. He may go down in history as the best to ever play his position. To top it all off he got a championship ring in his final game this season when the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, 34-31.

He will be a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee when he is eligible in five years.

12349947499?profile=original

Football fans will still get to see plenty of Lewis on a weekly basis during the NFL season though. Mike Greenberg just announced that Lewis will be joining ESPN as an NFL analyst.

"I just think it's an awesome opportunity," Lewis said. "It kinda gives a different side to my personality. Not always aggressive. Not always getting ready for the next game."
