Tank issued a statement via TMZ.

As an African American man and artist, I must take a stand on a matter that is so deeply personal to me. In light of the recent disturbing and offensive allegations, in good conscience, I cannot move forward with my scheduled appearance at Tuesday's Los Angeles Clippers game.

With his reputation already in shreds and repercussions from the NBA likely looming for his racist remarks, L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling is hoping money will stop the bleeding.

TMZ reports that Sterling reached out to his girlfriend V. Stiviano on Sunday, April 27, to see if they could come to an agreement.

12350781067?profile=original

Stiviano is in possession of more than 100 hours of audiotape that could damage Sterling further. When contacted she told him to speak to her lawyer, which probably means she has a dollar figure in mind to make this all go away.

Sterling's estranged wife, Shelly Sterling, is suing Stiviano for $1.8 million she claims was stolen from her husband.

Stiviano is upset that Sterling is going along with the lawsuit. She also claims that he knew he was being recorded because he frequently forgot conversations and needed to refresh his memory.

Michael Jordan rarely speaks out publicly about controversial topics, but even he couldn't hold back from giving his opinion on the Donald Sterling controversy.

The Charlotte Bocats owner gave a statement on the subject Sunday, April 27.

“I look at this from two perspectives – as a current owner and a former player. As an owner, I’m obviously disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views. I’m confident that Adam Silver will make a full investigation and take appropriate action quickly. As a former player, I’m completely outraged. There is no room in the NBA – or anywhere else – for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed…. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level.”

Audiotape has leaked of an argument between Sterling and Stiviano, where he flips out because she put the photo with Johnson on her Instagram. He goes so far as to forbid her from being seen in public with African Americans even though she's biracial with Hispanic and black parents..

Sterling also forbids Stiviano from bringing Magic or any other black person to Clippers' games.

V. Stiviano and Donald Sterling

Audio After The Jump

Donald Sterling is so caught up in his own twisted view of the world he doesn't consider himself to be a racist although his track record strongly suggests otherwise.

Besides owning the Los Angeles Clippers, Sterling is also the owner of several apartment and housing projects in the L.A. area.

In 2006 he was sued for discriminatory practices against African Americans and families with children. According to the Bleacher Report, the business mogul paid a record $2.725 million to settle the suit.

12350785062?profile=original

Scott Glover covered the case for the Los Angeles Times. In 2009 he wrote that Sterling would have been completely exposed for his racist practices had the case gone to trial.

In court filings, Justice Department lawyers presented evidence that the Sterling's made statements “indicating that African Americans and Hispanics were not desirable tenants and that they preferred Korean tenants” occupy buildings they owned in Koreatown.

Had the case gone to trial, an expert would have testified that an analysis of the Sterlings' rental practices in Koreatown revealed that they rented to far fewer African Americans and Hispanics than would be expected, based on demographics. As part of the settlement, the Sterlings will be required to pay for an independent contractor to monitor their employees' compliance with the Fair Housing Act over the next three years. The results of the tests would be reported to the Sterlings and to the government.

Deadspin obtained depositions from a similar lawsuit in 2003. Sumner Davenport, one of Sterling's four top property supervisors, was told the owner "wanted tenants that fit his image."

When Sterling took Davenport on a tour of The Ardmore Apartments he blamed an odor on African Americans and Mexicans.

12350785454?profile=original

"That's because of all the blacks in this building, they smell, they're not clean," he said, according to Davenport's testimony. "And it's because of all of the Mexicans that just sit around and smoke and drink all day." He added: "So we have to get them out of here."

Davenport came across an elderly woman named Kandynce Jones at the apartments. her apartment was flooded. Davenport said Jones was paralyzed on one side. She asked to be compensated for the damage to her place.

When Davenport reported her finding to Sterling he told her that he wasn't going to fix anything and to get rid of Jones.

"Is she one of those black people that stink?" When Davenport told Sterling that Jones wanted to be reimbursed for the water damage and compensated for her ruined property, he replied: "I am not going to do that. Just evict the bitch."

Throughout all of these accusations the NBA has failed to act.

12350785862?profile=original

"The content of his lawsuits alone should have been acted on, but the other members of the club – in addition to Stern – should have [held him] accountable," one high-level NBA official told Yahoo Sports on Saturday. "But no one would touch it. We were always holding players, teams and coaches accountable, yet the standard for owners has been a double standard. Being an owner comes with an obligation to your business partners that extends beyond just a fiduciary responsibility."

12350785273?profile=original

Elgin Baylor

Hall of Fame basketball player and former Clippers executive sued Sterling and others in February 2009 in L.A. Superior Court for wrongful termination and discrimination on the basis of age and race.

In Baylor's deposition he detailed several incidents he thought were race related.

1. Baylor spoke about what he called Sterling's "plantation mentality," alleging the owner in the late 1990s rejected a coaching candidate, Jim Brewer, because of race. Baylor quoted Sterling as saying: "Personally, I would like to have a white Southern coach coaching poor black players."

2. During negotiations for a new contract for player Danny Mannind, his agent told Sterling that the offer was unacceptable, Sterling responded by saying it was a lot of money. Said Baylor, in the deposition: “Donald T. said, ‘Well that’s a lot of money for a poor black ... ' -- I think he said kid. For a poor black kid I think. For a poor black something, kid or boy or something. Poor black. Poor black. Danny was upset. So Danny just stormed out. He just stormed out of the place. Where he went, I don’t know. He never came back to the house.”

Today Deadspin has gotten a hold of new audiotape of Sterling spewing more racial hatred during a conversation with his girlfriend v. Stivianao.

V: I don't understand, I don't see your views. I wasn't raised the way you were raised.

DS: Well then, if you don't feel—don't come to my games. Don't bring black people, and don't come.

V: Do you know that you have a whole team that's black, that plays for you?

DS: You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them?Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?

V: Honey, if it makes you happy, I will remove all of the black people from my Instagram.

DS: You said that before, you said, "I understand."

V: I DID remove the people that were independently on my Instagram that are black.

DS: Then why did you start saying that you didn't? You just said that you didn't remove them. You didn't remove every—

V: I didn't remove Matt Kemp and Magic Johnson, but I thought—

DS: Why?

V: I thought Matt Kemp is mixed, and he was OK, just like me.

DS: OK.

V: He's lighter and whiter than me.

DS: OK.

V: I met his mother.

DS: You think I'm a racist, and wouldn't—

V: I don't think you're a racist.

DS: Yes you do. Yes you do.

V: I think you, you—

DS: Evil heart.

And there is also this baffling exchange about black Jews in Israel:

DS: It's the world! You go to Israel, the blacks are just treated like dogs.

V: So do you have to treat them like that too?

DS: The white Jews, there's white Jews and black Jews, do you understand?

V: And are the black Jews less than the white Jews?

DS: A hundred percent, fifty, a hundred percent.

V: And is that right?

DS: It isn't a question—we don't evaluate what's right and wrong, we live in a society. We live in a culture. We have to live within that culture.

V: But shouldn't we take a stand for what's wrong? And be the change and the difference?

DS: I don't want to change the culture, because I can't. It's too big and too [unknown].

V: But you can change yourself.

DS: I don't want to change. If my girl can't do what I want, I don't want the girl. I'll find a girl that will do what I want! Believe me. I thought you were that girl—because I tried to do what you want. But you're not that girl.

Video And Pics After The Jump

Written by Matt Erickson For MMAJunkie

BALTIMORE – Diversity was the name of the game for Jon Jones, and he played it masterfully.

12350787671?profile=original

With perhaps the widest-ranging offensive attack of his title reign, Jones threw a little bit of everything in Glover Teixeira‘s direction for five rounds, and consistently stayed just out of range of the challenger’s biggest punches en route to a dominant unanimous decision win.

12350788482?profile=original

Jones took a trio of 50-45 scores for the sweep and defended his light heavyweight title for the seventh straight time.

The 205-pound title fight headlined today’s UFC 172 event at Maryland’s Baltimore Arena. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

12350788286?profile=original

Jones’ offense consisted of spinning kicks, axe kicks, wheel kicks, oblique kicks, straight elbows, spinning elbows, jumping knees, takedowns, jabs – you name it, Jones threw it. He ate a few strikes from Teixeira in the process, but never seemed to be in any danger. It was almost as if Jones was using the fight as a hard sparring session in the cruise-control win.

12350788691?profile=original

“A lot of it was improv. The game was to stick to takedowns and try to pick him apart from a distance,” Jones said. “I realized mid-fight that he was winding up on his punches, and you can’t wind up when someone’s right on top of you. So I switched the game plan up to go extremely short range, and it worked out great. I was a lot better hand fighter than he was. Glover Teixeira is someone that I respect dearly, and I thank him for the challenge.”

12350789083?profile=original

Jones kicked hard right out of the gate, but Teixeira fired back with a couple punches in the first 15 seconds. Jones tried to get inside, and he landed a knee to the body as Teixeira just missed an uppercut. The champ couldn’t get a takedown moments later. But Teixeira kept coming forward and landed a pair of right hands over the top.

Midway through the round, Jones just missed a hooked kick to the head as Teixeira continued to throw bombs. Jones slammed Teixeira to the canvas after catching a kick, but the fight didn’t stay on the ground longer than a couple seconds. The most significant strike of the round came with a spinning back kick to the body from Jones, and that forced Teixeira to try to run him down with wild punches.

12350789853?profile=original

Jones landed a straight left in the second with seeming ease compared to the big punches Teixeira was trying to land. He threw an axe kick, then a pair of oblique kicks that had Teixeira backing up. But a second poke to the eye from Jones had referee Dan Miragliotta warning Jones for striking with his open hands – and got Teixeira a chance to escape from the fence. He responded with some solid offense before eating a kick to the head and another elbow.

Jones continued to pour it on with wide-ranging strikes in the third. He popped Teixeira in the mouth hard enough that he jarred his mouthpiece out, then calmly waited for the challenger to put it back in to continue. Jones started to go to work in tight against Teixeira with elbows, eventually slicing the Brazilian open. In the final 30 seconds of the third, Jones tied Teixeira up and landed big punches and elbows along the fence – right in Teixeira’s wheelhouse, and Jones won the battle.

In the fifth round, Jones had his hardest pursuit of a takedown right away. Teixeira was able to get back to his feet just in time to eat a spinning elbow to the face. Ninety seconds in, as the two traded a flurry, Teixeira again lost his mouthpiece and was warned for losing it. But save for the final 30 seconds or so when Jones mostly stayed out of danger, he continued to stand right where Teixeira thought he’d have his best chance – and beat him at what he was best at.

“He kicked me in the right shoulder, and I have to check it out. And I might have a broken rib,” Teixeira said. “This guy, he’s tough. He took my best shots. He took my left hook three or four times and he kept coming back. He’s a great champion. I did my strategy – try to push him and hit him with hooks. But he kept the lights on and he beat me at my best.”

Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) won for the 11th straight time and eight straight time in a championship fight. He also set a UFC record with his 14th win at light heavyweight. Teixeira (22-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) lost for the first time in more than nine years and had his 20-fight winning streak finally snapped.

Video After The Jump

While In Malaysia for a bilateral meeting between U.S. and Malasian officials on Sunday, April 27, President Obama was forced to briefly take time away from the task at hand to address the growing controversy around L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his racist comments.

12350776056?profile=original

Donald Sterling and V. Stiviano

"When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have to do anything, you just let them talk. That's what happened here," Obama said. "I have confidence that the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, a good man, will address this. Obviously the NBA is a leauge that's beloved by fans all across the country. It's got a lot of African American players. Steeped in African American culture. And I suspect that the NBA is going to be deeply concerned in resolving this."

12350776464?profile=original

The President goes to to talk about the problems of racial discrimination that still exist in the U.S. in 2014.

"I will make one more larger comment about this," he continued. "The United States continues to wrestle with the legacy of race and slavery and segregation, that's still there, the vestiges of discrimination. We've made enormous strides, but you're going to continue to see this percolate up every so often," he added. "And I think that we just have to be clear and steady in denouncing it, teaching our children differently, but also remaining hopeful that part of why statements like this stand out some much is because there has been this shift in how we view ourselves."

12350776868?profile=original

The Los Angeles Chapter of the NAACP had been planning to give Sterling the Lifetime Achievement Award at a May 15 banquet. That may change now that audio has leaked of him telling hid girlfriend V. Stiviano not to bring African American's, including Magic Johnson, to Clippers games and not to put their photos on her Instagram.

Video After The Jump

Lil Wayne has jumped into the Donald Sterling controversy. The owner of the L.A. Clippers made racist remarks directed at African Americans that were aired by TMZ on Saturday, April 26.

Weezy filmed his own reply.

12350786462?profile=original

"This dedicated to motherfucking Donald Sterling. First of all, I'ma sum in up for everybody that I believe feel this way. I'ma sum it up for everybody on my side of the field, on my side of the gate. And I think you know what I mean when I say that. Fuck you...that simple...that easy," Wayne said. "If I was a Clippers fan, I wouldn't be one anymore. If I was A Clippers player. A current Clippers player. You wouldn't see me on the court anymore in that uniform. An apology wouldn't do for me. A team meeting wouldn't work for me,"
