Nas ‘Scared’ Of Making New Record. Rapper's Personal Life Affecting His Music

MTV UK Reports Nas has exclusively told MTV News UK he is scared of making a new solo album because his private life is in the limelight. Earlier this year he had a very public split from wife Kelis fuelling gossip on blogs and in newspapers. Kelis gave birth to his Nas’s son Knight in July with reports claiming he wasn’t allowed in the hospital. Speaking at the Orange Rock Corps event in London Nas revealed: “This is a record that right now I’m scared of making y’know cos, I don’t know what’s gonna happen as far as I don’t know what I’m gonna say. “I feel like I’ve put so much of my personal life out there. I feel like I’m one of the guys you don’t really hear about him on paparazzi/fan magazines all the time. “But (now) I just feel like my life is so much out there that it’s kinda like, man, I don’t even know how to put it in words how I feel about putting this record together. I’m a little nervous to tell you the truth, that’s all I can say.” Asked directly if he was nervous about his personal life being publicised the rapper said: “Yeah a little bit of that and a little bit of I wanna do so well, I don’t wanna let people down and I definitely want to put out something that is true to me. “Maybe people think I’m tripping out, but it’s not the case, I really have to be in the right head space so hopefully I’ll get it done and it’ll come out soon.” The last Nas album was his Untitled disc- originally called N****r- which was released in 2008. He also has a joint record with Damian Marley- called Distant Relatives- due out later in 2009.

Kelis Releases Statement on Knight’s Birth, Confirms Nas’ Absence

AllHipHop Reports With Nas confirming and celebrating his first son’s birth during a performance in Queensbridge earlier this week, Kelis has disclosed her own official statement on the child’s delivery. Representatives for the singer confirmed that Knight arrived healthy with no complications, despite a long labor period. "Kelis gave birth to Knight Jones last night on July 22nd around 9PM,” stated publicist Tracy Nguyen. “Weighing a healthy 7.8lbs, the beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful. This was a natural birth and Kelis has been in labor since early Monday morning around 2AM.” A normally joyous occasion had been marred by reports that Kelis barred Nas from seeing the birth of his son. While the supposed ban was not confirmed nor denied, Kelis’ representatives did verify the Queensbridge legend was not present. “Knight was delivered in a NYC hospital with her mother and sister in the room,” Nguyen stated. “This is the mother's first child.” Kelis and Nas were scheduled to attend a court hearing regarding their divorce, which was filed by Kelis back in April 2009. Recently, lawyers for both parties have been disputing matters of spousal and child support, along with Nas’ current income wages. Lawyers for Kelis claim Nas has made over $11 million courtesy of his lucrative 2006 Def Jam contract, and request the rapper pay upwards to $20,000 a month in child and spousal support. Attorney’s for Nas argue that those income figures are grossly inflated, and request the singer only receive a child support stipend of $5000 monthly, and involve the rapper fully in the child’s raising. At press time, a rescheduled court date hearing is pending.

Kelis Says She's Dead Broke But Check Out Her Monthly Expenses !

Kelis has just filed her financials with the court, making her case to get support and baby expenses from estranged hubby Nas. Kelis says from 11/08 to 4/09, her average monthly income was $21,616. Hardly poor, but way less than what she and Nas were pulling in while she was with him. Kelis, who is ready to give birth, has some pretty hefty expenses -- $80,831 a month ... way more than she says she makes. Kelis says she hasn't toured in a year and most of her income comes from her concerts. Kelis says she spends $14,861 on her mortgage. Her nanny costs $3,500 a month. She spends $15,000 a month on entertainment, gifts and vacations -- not too shabby. And she says it cost $175 to have the "baby rug dry cleaned." And there's this ... Kelis says she wants to buy "storage to bank the baby's blood when he is born. The banking is the collection and storage of the stem cells found in the baby's umbilical cord." Kelis Wants Nas To Ante Up Plenty Money

Kelis claims estranged hubby Nas has left her high and dry ... not offering her a penny in the wake of her impending birth ... and she says she's broke -- "I have run out of money." Kelis filed legal papers claiming Nas isn't paying her support, pre-natal expenses -- nothing, even though she claims he is filthy rich. Kelis is asking the judge to order Nas to pay spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one-half of all medical expenses after the child is born. She also wants $3,500 for the baby nurse after the child's birth, and $20,000 for strollers, cribs and other baby supplies. Kelis says, "My survival is based on [Nas'] will at this time. If he does not want to pay for an expense, it does not get paid." The couple was married in 2003. The baby is due this month. Kelis says she's entitled to maintain the lifestyle to which she became accustomed during their marriage -- they have five homes, fly first class, go to fancy restaurants, and on and on. Most interesting -- "There were many expensive pieces [of jewelry] such as a princess-cut diamond tennis bracelet that was recently appraised for $190,000. My engagement ring is an approximately nine-carat cushion-cut diamond solitaire. I have numerous watches...such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller and Chopard." Her lawyer, disso-queen Laura Wasser, says in a separate declaration she's asked Nas to ante up some $$$ for Kelis and the unborn baby but he hasn't responded. Source : TMZ
