Rumors were flying over the weekend regarding rapper Asher Roth's sexual preference. According to gossip blogs, Roth was slated to appear on an E! News Holiday special this week where he'd talk in detail about rumors of him "coming out the closet." Roth was apparently the topic of a book about gay men in hip-hop, called Hiding in Hip-Hop by author Terrance Dean (reports TeamYee.tv), who posted a blog entry this week saying the rapper was definitely mentioned in his book. In the special, the rapper was to confirm the rumors. However, the news is untrue says a rep from his label, SRC Records, who says Roth is straight. "I would like to address the recent Internet rumors about Asher Roth: Asher Roth is not gay, and is not scheduled to be interviewed on the E! channel," SRC VP DJ Vlad said in a statement on his website (VladTV.com). It was also rumored that Roth was dropped from SRC, where he released his debut album, Asleep In the Bread Aisle, earlier this year. This was also untrue. Vlad said that Asher Roth is still signed with the label, and remains a top priority. "Asher has not been dropped from SRC Records, and is a top priority at the label after having sold over a million copies of his 'I Love College' single," said Vlad. "Asher is currently working on his next album for SRC." The rapper had not commented on the rumor himself. at press time. Source: BallerStatus Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

Video After The Jump Lil Wayne has come a long way since he was in school, and he's got the crib to prove it. In an exclusive preview from Wayne and DJ Scoob Doo's forthcoming behind-the-scenes DVD, "The Nino Brown Story, Pt. 2" (the follow-up to 2008's part one), we get a look at Wayne's home and hear him reflecting on his past. In the clip, Wayne talks about his early days as a rapper. "I was still in school after I dropped my first solo album," he said. "After I dropped Tha Block Is Hot, I was still in school. It was platinum and I was still in school." Wayne was literally riding the success of his 1999 debut album, with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz drop-top two-seater with a Kompressor engine. He said that many of the people in his neighborhood didn't know such a car existed, and thought he'd had it made especially for him. But his good fortune did not end there, as he got a call from Cash Money label head Baby one evening, asking him to come to his house: " 'Yo shawty, come to the crib,' " Wayne recalled him saying. Wayne said he went to Baby's house and was told to go to the back, where the tarp was taken off of a BMW two-seater, a gift from the label. In the clip, Wayne also recalls that his mother ordered him to leave school. "My mom, she made quit," he said. " 'Look, I'm going to let you quit school, but them b----s better get you a tutor!' " Wayne said, mimicking his mother's voice. He said he called up Baby to make it happen. " 'Yo B, my momma said I have to get me a tutor.' I had the tutor the next day," he recalled. " 'You gotta go at 9, shorty,' " Baby said. Despite his mother's insistence, Wayne said he continued to go to his old school anyway. "They used to make me get off the campus and all kinds of wild sh--. 'Get off the campus!' C'mon man, I'm my own millionaire! You gonna really kick me off a public school campus? I just was going to this [school] last week, making straight A's." "I love school, like my daughter," he continued. "My daughter cries when we say she has to stay home because she's sick." Later in the clip Wayne exits the studio area of his Miami mansion walking down a narrow hallway that has one of the walls adorned with a number of guitars. The kitchen area sitting just outside Wayne's living room is surrounded by a pile of clothes and fitted baseball caps that sit neatly on the floor. "Clothes on the floor," Wayne confirms to the camera. After a long day of work, Weezy sits comfortably in his living room watching a Boston Red Sox game on his flat-screen television with two of his pals. Video After The Jump Last week, we detailed Rihanna's rather, uh, eventful year when we named her our #3 Woman of 2009. It started in February with her assault at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown, and culminated in the release of her most adventurous album yet, the dark and artful Rated R. Along the way, she overcame adversity and reclaimed her title as one of the biggest acts in the world and, perhaps most notable of all, she inspired millions with her strength and spirit. But what inspired her? When we caught up with Rihanna on the set of her just-released "Hard" video, we decided to find out. She let us in her world, revealing the song that served as the soundtrack for her year, and the artist who she idolized the most in '09.
Song of the Year " 'Empire State of Mind' was definitely one of my favorite records of 2009 ... one of the biggest records of 2009, also. It's timeless. It's epic, and it makes me want to be from New York every time I hear it. I'm like, 'Wow, I wish I was in New York, or I wish I was from New York.' It's just that great feeling when you hear it." Artist of the Year "[Lady Gaga]. She has a very bold, fearless image and, I have to say, I have so much respect for original artists ... who aren't afraid to do what they do. That's what I respect the most. She's awesome." MTV Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

More outrageous news from Tila Tequila: she's pregnant! After proclaiming her engagement to heiress Casey Johnson Dec. 9, the MTV reality star tweeted her latest "big announcement" Sunday: "I am going to become a SURROGATE MOTHER for my brother and his Wife!!...That is my xmas present to them," she writes. "I'm pregnant!!!" Earlier, she teased that she was giving her brother a present that would "CHANGE HIS LIFE AND MINE FOREVER!!!! ITS HUGE!" Tila (real name: Tila Ngyuen), 27 has not yet provided additional details about the due date of the child or how she reached the momentous decision. She is also apparently being generous with her parents this year -- she notes on the microblogging site that she's "going to surprise my Mom & Dad & Buy them a new house in Vietnam where they can retire & B happy." The star recently showed off her engagement ring from supposed fiancee Johnson. She said it was a "17-carat diamond ring from my baby...My baby takes care of me. Beat that J.Lo! Beat that Khloe and Lamar!" All the happy news follows darker headlines from Tila: she had recently alleged that her ex-boyfriend, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, choked and restrained her at his home; her claims were dropped in September due to insignificant evidence. Simon Monjack (left) has asked that an autopsy not be performed on his wife Hollywood stunner Brittany Murphy, who found big-screen success after her breakout role in "Clueless," died Sunday after collapsing in the shower. Los Angeles cops are investigating the 32-year-old's sudden death, but a coroner official said it "appears to be natural." An autopsy is pending - over the objections of her British screenwriter husband, Simon Monjack, who told hospital staffers he didn't want one, according to the gossip Web site TMZ. The screen siren and singer was in full cardiac arrest and could not be revived after her beloved mother - who told paramedics the actress was diabetic - found her unconscious in the shower, TMZ reported. Five paramedics who arrived after the 8 a.m. 911 call feverishly administered CPR as Monjack wandered around in his pajama bottoms, a witness told RadarOnline. Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Murphy had been suffering from flulike symptoms for days and was throwing up profusely in the hours before she died, TMZ said. "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house," a source said. The troubled starlet rose to fame in 1995 as the sidekick Tai in "Clueless," who went from awkward wallflower to snotty hottie. She has appeared in more than 25 movies since then, including 1997's "Bongwater," "Girl, Interrupted" in 1999, "8Mile" and "Sin City." Murphy, whose gravelly voice rocked the animated film "Happy Feet," even broke into the dance club world with the hit single "Faster Kill Pussycat." Murphy lived in Edison, N.J., before moving to California when she was 13 and landing her first television role in "Blossom." She underwent a transformation from a too-pudgy-for-Hollywood brunette to a bone-thin blond - with cleavage ample enough to land her in Maxim's 100 hottest women in 2006. Speculation over her weight loss haunted her for years, but she dismissed reports that her weight was connected to drug use or an eating disorder. "I have never tried [cocaine] in my entire life,"she told Jane magazine.

Friends openly worried that she had become addicted to the prescription painkiller Vicodin after undergoing plastic surgery. "Brittany has been living life on the edge," one source told Britain's Daily Mail. She was set to play a small role in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming film "The Expendables," due out in August. Earlier this month, she abruptly left the Puerto Rico set of "The Caller." Twitter was abuzz with tributes from stars, like old squeeze Ashton Kutcher, her co-star in 2003's "Just Married." "See you on the other side kid," Kutcher tweeted. Screenwriter and director Kevin Smith referred to the actress' oft-quoted line in "Clueless": "G'night,Ms. Murphy; hope you're rollin' with the homies someplace nice." In a statement, her family called Murphy's death a " terrible tragedy. She was ... a shiningstar." Source: NY Daily News Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

Here's a fairy tale that could only happen in the movies. Man makes YouTube video. Goes to Hollywood. Gets pots of money and a movie deal. Except this story is true.An unknown producer from Uruguay, Fede Alvarez, shelled out about $300 to create a cool video of a robot invasion in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. The four-minute short, "Ataque de Panico!" (Panic Attack) features ginormous (but slow-moving) weapon-wielding robots that blow stuff up.We have to admit, it has pretty amazing production values. The Playlist gushed that the director may be the next Neill Blomkamp, who made the South African-based alien flick "District 9." With the blog abuzz, the South American short went viral, and has already been viewed on YouTube 1.5 million times.Well, apparently nothing gets by Hollywood these days. The lucky duck told the BBC, "I uploaded 'Ataque de Panico!' on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of emails from Hollywood studios." Long story short, a bidding war ensued. The offer he pocketed: A $30 million deal with Sam "Spiderman" Raimi's Ghost House Pictures. That's a nice return on investment. The picture will be a sci-fi thriller set in Argentina and Uruguay. In case you're hoping to see the feature-length version of "Panic Attack!" in a movie theater, it won't be from this deal. The newly minted "it" guy says he will start from scratch. Here's the video that got him Hollywood gold.

Video After The Jump New York State Police have released dramatic new video footage of the January 10th gun battle that shut down I-90 for hours and ended when a sniper's bullet killed 22-year-old Darrel Brown of Hartford, Connecticut. Investigators say Brown was high on PCP and running from Connecticut authorities when he opened fire on police with an AK-47 from the back seat of a cab that had been pulled over in East Greenbush. The new footage shows the state trooper talking to the cab driver and Brown. When the trooper realizes that Brown is armed, the trooper runs from the cab. The cab driver frantically waves his hands out the window before he runs from the vehicle. The video documents the first nine minutes of the nearly hour-long shoot-out. The footage begins when the trooper makes a U-turn to pursue the speeding cab and ends with one of Brown's bullets hits the camera in the dashboard of the cruiser. Trooper Maureen Tuffey says PCP use may explain erratic behavior in people. "You can't reason with them," she tells us. "You can't get them down on the ground. You can't make any kind of sense out of them." Police say Brown was a known member of the Bloods street gang. Hartford Police wanted to question him about a carjacking and assault that had happened the night before the deadly shoot-out. "It appears that he was fleeing to the Capital Region," Trooper Tuffey tells us. "He had one or two people here he knew. He did not even tell the cab driver what his final destination was. He was giving his journey incrementally as they went along." Three minutes elapsed between when the trooper and cabbie run for safety and when Brown first opens fire. Police believe Brown was fumbling with the lock on his gun. That could have saved the lives of the cabbie and trooper. Witnesses told police that Brown yelled "shoot me" and "kill me." Investigators will never know exactly why Brown opened fire. "Whether he just gave up hope and decided to go down in a blaze of fire or it was a definite suicide by cop," says Trooper Tuffey. "It's difficult for us to actually pinpoint that." Police never cited the cab driver for speeding. Source: Fox23News Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper
