Video After The Jump

NORTH PORT, Fla. (AP) — FBI agents & police Monday swarmed the home of the boyfriend wanted for questioning in the disappearance of 22-year-old Gabby Petito, whose body was apparently discovered over the weekend at a Wyoming national park months after the couple set out in a van on a cross-country trek.

The FBI’s Tampa office said in a tweet that it was serving a search warrant & local media reported that 23-year-old Brian Laundrie’s parents were seen getting into a police vehicle outside the home.

Video showed at least a dozen law enforcement officers pulling up to the Laundries’ house in North Port & rushing in. Later, a police officer could be seen taking a stack of cardboard boxes inside. Brian Laundrie & Petito had been living with his parents before making the trek on which she died.

Petito & Laundrie hit the road in July in a converted van to visit national parks in the West. They got into a fight along the way, and Laundrie was alone when he returned in the van to his parents’ home on Sept. 1.

Laundrie has been named a person of interest in the case, but his whereabouts in recent days were unknown.

In Wyoming, the FBI announced on Sunday that agents had discovered a body while searching campsites on the edge of Grand Teton National Park, which the couple had visited. No details on the cause of death were released. An autopsy was set for Tuesday.

“Full forensic identification has not been completed to confirm 100% that we found Gabby, but her family has been notified,” FBI agent Charles Jones said. “This is an incredibly difficult time for (Petito’s) family & friends.”

Petito’s father, Joseph, posted on social media an image of a broken heart above a picture of his daughter, with the message: “She touched the world.”

An attorney who has been acting as a spokesman for Petito’s family asked in a statement that the family be given room to grieve.

Jones said investigators were seeking information from anyone who may have seen Petito or Laundrie around Grand Teton.

A weekend search of a Florida nature preserve failed to find Laundrie, North Port police said. They said in a statement that they “exhausted all avenues in searching the grounds” of the 24,000-acre Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County.

(CBS4) – A judge handed STEM School shooter Devon Erickson, 20, a life sentence on Friday in Douglas County Court following emotional testimony from victims, including the parents of the student considered a hero for charging at the gunman. Since Erickson was 18 years old and an adult at the time of the shooting, he faced a mandatory life sentence.

Erickson was convicted in June of all 46 charges against him for his role in the May 7, 2019, STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting which left Kendrick Castillo dead and eight others wounded. Castillo was among the group of students trying to stop the gunmen.

The judge imposed hundreds of additional years in prison in addition to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Alec McKinney, the second student involved in the shooting, testified on behalf of the prosecution in Erickson’s trial. McKinney is already serving a life sentence. McKinney, who was 16 years old at the time of shooting, could become eligible for parole after about 20 years in prison under a program for juvenile offenders.

Before the judge’s ruling, Erickson displayed little emotion as he sat with a face mask on and a prison jumpsuit on as victims and their families testified in the courtroom. That included STEM School students, teachers and parents.

Nykiah Thomas one of the parents whose child was shot. Before asking the judge to impose the maximum sentence for Erickson, she described her daughter being in Algebra class when the gunmen stormed in and shot her in the lower part of her body.

“What I remember from that day was her calling me and telling me she was shot and she did not know how many times because both of her legs were bleeding,” Thomas said. “The doctor told her that they would not remove the bullet because it was too close to her fibular artery.”

Several students testified that they have suffered from PTSD since the attack. One told the judge she’s sure that Erickson and McKinney’s intention was “to murder hundreds of students.”

Kendrick Castillo’s parents, John and Maria Castillo, talked about how the shooter took everything from them.

“He was my life, my best friend, I loved him more than life itself. If I could trade places with Kendrick, I would because he had so much to live for,” said Maria Castillo. “There are no words that I can describe the way I feel. I have hate, anger, pain, sadness… all emotions mixed. So many sleepless nights, still waiting for Kendrick to come home.”

“No one can really imagine what our pain is like, we get invited to cookouts with our neighbors, and we agree that we are going to go, and then at the last minute we just don’t show up. We try to be so strong, but life is never the same,” said John Castillo.

“I heard the words, ‘Kendrick didn’t make it’ and everything froze, I fell to my knees and I haven’t been the same since,” said student Alison Thompson.

“I know what it’s like to call your mom and you don’t know whether you are going to die or not. I know what it’s like to get phantom pains in your leg, because that’s where you were shot, twice, by someone you thought you knew,” said student Jeff Jones.

Mixed martial arts rising star "Suga" Sean O'Malley commented critically on transgender fighter Alana McLaughlin's victories over female fighters.

“I don’t think that’s OK,” O’Malley said of McLaughlin's victory during an episode of his podcast. “I just don’t think that’s OK ... In just competing in sports, I mean, especially mixed. It’s like she had testosterone for, who knows, 20 to 30 years of her life and now I’m a girl.”

“You could tell that’s a dude,” O’Malley added. “A jacked girl. I mean, look at those arms.”

McLaughlin, 38, was born male and began transitioning to a female in 2010 after leaving the U.S. Army Special Forces, Outsports.com reported. McLaughlin defeated Celine Provost, a biologically female fighter, earlier this month.

McLaughlin began training in MMA a year ago and was cleared to compete against women by the Florida State Boxing Commission after her hormone levels were approved.

McLaughlin wore a shirt after the fight that read “End Trans Genocide.”

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping also commented on McLaughlin's victory, saying he believes it isn't right for someone born with "the body of the man" to compete in fights against biological females.

“I’m not here to talk about transgender rights, you can identify as whatever you want,” Bisping said, Low Kick MMA reported. “But I do believe that if you’re a woman that feels trapped in a man’s body, there are certain advantages that you should have to give up. If you have the body of a man, competing against girls or women, when you’re using your body to beat someone unconscious, has to be one of those things you sacrifice.”

“If you want to play volleyball, soccer, be my guest. But in a sport that you beat someone into submission or unconsciousness, it shouldn’t be allowed. It’s unfair to women’s MMA.”

KIGALI, Rwanda (AP) — A court in Rwanda says the man who inspired “Hotel Rwanda,” Paul Rusesabagina, has been found guilty of terror-related offenses.

Rusesabagina boycotted Monday’s announcement after declaring he didn’t expect justice in a trial he called a “sham.”

He has so far been convicted of the formation of an illegal armed group, membership in a terrorist group & financing a terror group. The verdict is still being read out on charges of murder, abduction & armed robbery as an act of terrorism. He was charged along with 20 other people.

The ruling comes more than a year after Rusesabagina disappeared during a visit to Dubai, United Arab Emiratets & appeared days later in Rwanda in handcuffs, accused of supporting the armed wing of his opposition political platform, Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change. The group had claimed some responsibility for attacks in 2018 and 2019 in the south of the country in which nine Rwandans died.

Rusesabagina has maintained his innocence & his family alleges he was kidnapped & taken to Rwanda against his will. But the court ruled that he wasn’t kidnapped when he was tricked into boarding a chartered flight. Rwanda’s government has asserted that he was going to Burundi to coordinate with armed groups based there & in Congo.

Rusesabagina is credited with saving more than 1,000 people by sheltering them at the hotel he managed during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda in which more than 800,000 Tutsi & Hutus who tried to protect them were killed.

Rusesabagina, a Belgian citizen & U.S. resident who was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom, has asserted that his arrest was in response to his criticism of longtime Rwandan President Paul Kagame over alleged human rights abuses.

Rusesabagina said he was gagged & tortured before he was jailed, but Rwandan authorities denied it.

His attorney, Felix Rudakemwa, has asserted that Rusesabagina’s legal papers were confiscated by prison authorities. HIs family has feared he might die from poor health behind bars.

Rwanda has said Rusesabagina would get a fair trial.

But the trial has drawn international concern. In December, 36 U.S. senators wrote to Kagame, urging him to release Rusesabagina.

Video After The Jump

An Arnold man at a baby shower for his expected child is accused of shooting three people with a .9 mm handgun Saturday night at the Kinloch Fire Hall in Lower Burrell during an argument over whether he would transport gifts.

The suspect, Isiah J. Hampton, 25, was arrested & was charged by Lower Burrell police with 2 counts of aggravated assault & 1 count of recklessly endangering another person. Hampton was arraigned Sunday morning via video & remains in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bond pending a Sept. 28 hearing.

Police found the suspect within minutes & he surrendered without incident, Lower Burrell Police Chief John Marhefka said. He had left the fire hall with the mother of his unborn child.

The victims are a 23-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman & a 16-year-old boy. One victim was shot in his torso, a woman was shot in her leg & the boy had been shot in the buttocks. Two of the victims were taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh & the other to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville.

Marhefka said none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Police said the shooting occurred after Hampton got into an argument with a woman who wanted him to transport the gifts from the baby shower. Hampton allegedly became abusive toward the woman & she slapped his face, prompting the suspect to shove her backwards.

Three men intervened to stop Hampton, who had fallen to the ground, when he allegedly pulled his gun & shot one man in the torso & then the teenager. As others tried to get the gun from Hampton, police said that a woman, not the one Hampton was arguing with, was grazed in her leg by a bullet.

Police said in the complaint that Hampton allegedly said the third person was shot unintentionally as others tried to take the gun from his hand.

Others were able to wrestle the gun from the suspect & place it on the bar, away from Hampton, police said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: Police have finally arrested the man who was caught on camera kicking a woman down a New York subway escalator. The suspect was seen in footage of the incident drop-kicking a woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, in the chest after walking past her on the escalator. The victim was seen tumbling down the escalator & the man who attacked her walks away from the scene.

Bradley K Hill, 32, was arrested on Friday, September 17, & charged with assault. He was filmed doing his perp walk while wearing a dark suit, an open-necked shirt, and a Nike face mask. MEAWW previously reported how the suspect was caught on camera on September 9 kicking a woman down the escalator of the Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center station in Brooklyn, New York.

Speaking to ABC 7 News earlier this week, the victim said the incident unfolded after she asked Hill to say "excuse me" after he pushed his way past her on the ride up the escalator. Hill reportedly responded by saying "I did" before kicking her in the chest. "He just kicked me out of nowhere," the victim said. "And I just came tumbling down the escalator, past everyone, all the way to the bottom floor."

Police noted that the victim sustained cuts & bruises to her back, arms & legs, but refused medical attention at the scene. She told ABC 7 that the shocking encounter had left her traumatized. '"Say excuse me, that's the New York way,' & that was it," she said. "And then out of nowhere, he felt the need to have to kick me down the stairs. You know, as if I had the audacity to address him & tell him and say, 'Excuse me,' at that moment. He felt like he just had to kick me down."

Hill was subsequently charged with assault & attempted assault, but it's unclear if he's being held in jail or has been granted bail & released from custody.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine boxing icon and senator Manny Pacquiao says he will run for president in the 2022 elections.

Pacquiao accepted the nomination of his PDP-Laban party at its national convention on Sunday, pledging to honestly serve the Filipino people who he said have been waiting for a change of government.

“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,” Pacquiao, 42, said in his speech.

“In the name of our countrymen who have long been desiring for the right change in government, I wholeheartedly, bravely, and humbly hope for your support,” he added.

Pacquiao is the president of the PDP-Laban faction led by him and Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

Another faction of the party earlier this month nominated President Rodrigo Duterte to be its vice presidential candidate, and Duterte’s former aide, Sen. Bong Go, as its presidential nominee.

Duterte, who is forbidden by the constitution from seeking a second six-year term, has accepted the nomination, but Go has declined to run for president.

Duterte has led a brutal campaign against illegal drugs, and said last week he would rather “die first” before facing an international tribunal, the day after the International Criminal Court announced it would investigate allegations of crimes against humanity linked to the crackdown that has left thousands dead.

Wack 100 says he has an unreleased sex tape belonging to Kim Kardashian and her ex, Ray J, that's never been seen before -- and he's weirdly offering it to ... Kanye West.

RJ's former manager spilled the alleged tea to Bootleg Kev on his podcast this week ... saying there was a "part 2" to the infamous sex tape that put Kim on the map in the 2000s. Unclear if it's just a continuation of the tape that's already out there, or a new one entirely.

*UPDATE* Wack 100 is desperate for attention and simply trolling Kim and Kanye to claim he's in possession of an unreleased sex tape, so says Kim's attorney. Speaking on her behalf, legal pitbull Marty Singer just unloaded on Wack, telling us, "The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false. It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame."

Singer is certainly not one to shy away from legal filings, so it's likely the last we hear from Wack on the matter, or else.

Video After The Jump

Newly released surveillance footage shows a Florida man using a sledgehammer to break into a neighbor's home before allegedly shooting a person living there.

The video shows the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Julio Perez, breaking through the front door of the home on September 8 while carrying a gun.

Perez was followed by a second man—who has not yet been publicly identified by police—carrying a baseball bat, WSVN reported.

Claudia Porro, the wife of shooting victim Robert Muina, described hearing a "huge boom" at the time of the break-in.

"My kids were all in their bedrooms," she told the television station. "I heard a huge boom. The door was on the floor. One of my neighbors walks in over my door into my house with my door on the floor."

Muina attempted to stop the intruders and take the gun away from Perez. He was allegedly shot in the shoulder and beaten with a bat.

Porro and the couple's three children were hiding in a closet during the attack, according to WPLG.

"When you're home, you're supposed to feel safe," Porro said. "It's very hard to fall asleep since then. It's very hard to be somewhere, like in the living room, without feeling like somebody is going to barge in through the front door the way they did."

Porro told WPLG that Muina and Perez had an ongoing conflict. The family since had to move from their residence out of fear after the "horrifying" home invasion, she said.

They have set up a GoFundMe to help pay for moving expenses and are living with family while saving money to move, according to the fundraiser.

Perez was arrested hours later and only two houses down from where the alleged attack took place. He was charged with first-degree attempted murder and armed burglary, and ordered to stay away from Muina, Porro and their children.

The alleged attack took place in the city's Westchester neighborhood, which is about 10 miles west of Downtown Miami.

Muina was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center and has since been discharged, WSVN reported.

DEL RIO, Texas (AP) — The Biden administration worked Saturday on plans to send many of the thousands of Haitian immigrants who have gathered in a Texas border city back to their Caribbean homeland, in a swift response to the huge influx of people who suddenly crossed the border from Mexico & congregated under & around a bridge.

U.S. officials said Saturday that within the next 3 days, they plan to ramp up expulsion flights for some of the thousands of Haitian migrants who have gathered in a Texas city from across the border in Mexico.

The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that it moved about 2,000 migrants out of Del Rio to other locations on Friday for processing & possible removal from the United States.

The announcement marks a swift response to the sudden arrival of thousands of Haitians in a relatively remote stretch of border that lacks the capacity to hold & process such large numbers of people.

By Monday morning, U.S. Customs and Border Protection plans to have at least 400 agents & officers in the Del Rio area & it is prepared to send more, DHS said.

A U.S. official told The Associated Press on Friday that operational capacity & Haiti’s willingness will determine the number of flights. The official said progress was being made on negotiations with Haitian authorities. The official had direct knowledge of the plans but wasn’t authorized to discuss them publicly & spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

Colt Brennan died of an accidental drug overdose, TMZ Sports has learned ... after a toxicology report found the former NFL QB had ingested fentanyl and other dangerous substances prior to his death.

Brennan tragically died at the age of 37 in May 2021. The former University of Hawaii quarterback had been receiving treatment at a drug rehab facility in Southern California when he experienced a medical emergency. He was rushed to the hospital ... where he passed away.

Now, after completing an autopsy and tox screen, health officials tell us the death was accidental, caused by a lethal concoction of drugs (polydrug), including the dangerous and illicit substance, fentanyl.

In addition to the incredibly powerful opioid, officials also found methamphetamine, amphetamine and ethanol in his system.

It's unclear if any of the drugs were prescribed by doctors ... or if Colt took them on his own.

After starring at Hawaii, Colt was a 6th-round draft pick in 2008. He bounced around the league ... playing with Washington and Oakland, before playing ball with the CFL in Canada.

Playboi Carti has no problem flossin' his chains but the rapper's got problems paying for his shiny ice in full ... at least according to a new lawsuit.

Eliantte & Co. filed legal docs in New York claiming the "Magnolia" rapper owes $97,063.75, which the company says is the balance for 2 custom chains the rapper ordered back in September 2020.

In docs, obtained by TMZ, Eliantte, who has done jaw-dropping work for the likes of Swizz Beatz and many other celeb clients, says he quickly went to work on a 14-carat white gold diamond rosary chain and a custom diamond tennis chain.

The jeweler says PC was billed $197,063.75 for the pieces. Eliantte claims the rapper made a $100k payment on January 25, but then failed to pay off the rest of the balance despite repeated demands.

So now, Eliantte is suing to get what he's owed.
