Video After The Jump

As we previously reported, Rep. Doug Lamborn, (R-Colo.), has come under fire for using the term "tar baby" to describe President Obama during a radio interview.

Lamborn has since issued an apology, but for many that's not enough.

50 Cent weighed in on the situation today via Twitter, calling for Lamborn to either step down or be forced to resign.

"Republican congressman Doug Lamborn should be relieved of his duties after calling president Obama a tar baby," 50 tweeted to his nearly 5 million followers. "Tar baby is a synonym for n*gger, except it is only used in bigoted manners, whereas n*gga can be a sign of respect. The term comes from a children's story in witch they explain that slaves were 'dark and dumb'due to the fact they were 'baptized in TAR' #SK."

Sherri Shepherd of The View was equally outraged. She vented on the show today, saying she is tired of people like Lamborn and Rush Limbaugh, uttering racially insensitive remarks about Obama and getting away with it without consequences.

"I'm tired of giving people a pass, and then they do an apology and say I didn't know," Shepherd said. "I've never heard a purist call Nixon, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, a tar baby. I don't care. ...Everybody's using these things for Barack Obama and I say, I think you know exactly what you're saying and it's so much in your heart, the racism, you can't even help it. It freaking comes out!"

Video and Pics After the Jump

Tyler, The Creator, sat down for what turned out to be anything but a regular conversation with Interview Magazine recently.

The Odd Future frontman got a surprise when Waka Flocka, hopped on the phone during the interview to find out what exactly Tyler is trying to convey to viewers in his "Yonkers" video, and what's new with OFWGKTA.

Check out an excerpt from the interview below.

FLAME: What up, dog?

TYLER: Whassup, n*gga?

FLAME: Killin’ it.

TYLER: This is awkward as f*ck right now.

FLAME: Well, I’m gonna ask you a couple questions.

TYLER: Sick. I’m ready. I just wanna state, though, that “Keep It Real” is, like, my favorite f*ckin’ song by you. That’s, like, in my top 10 songs ever. That’s my sh*t. You throwin’ it out there. Okay, so now you could start the whatever.

FLAME: All right. So firstly, what do y’all think is so odd about the future?

TYLER: What’s odd about the future? I think we’re all gonna die pretty soon, and the animals are gonna take over—like ostriches and sh*t. I think they’re gonna take over the world and we’re gonna be their slaves.

FLAME: Me and my partners was havin’ a smoke and we thought that maybe monkeys could take over.

TYLER: Monkeys are smart as f*ck.

FLAME: Do y’all actually do any of the stuff y’all talk about in your lyrics?

TYLER: Well, I don’t rape chicks . . . I have punched a girl in the eye . . . Um . . . What else? I say a lot of s*it and it just depends . . . Sometimes it’s just ’cause sh*t is funny.

EHRLICH: What about eating cockroaches? Have you done that?

TYLER: I actually didn’t say that in a rap—I did it in a video. He was a nice cockroach. His name was Nissan.

FLAME: In that video y’all directed called “Yonkers,” you eat that cockroach, then you vomit it back up, then you’re bleeding out your nose, then you’re hangin’ yourself . . .

TYLER: Yeah.

FLAME: Is there something deeper behind it? What do those images mean?

TYLER: Well, a lot of people think that stuff is deeper than it really is. Some people just think too much. Like, my manager knows I wanna be a video director, so he was like, “Hey, just write a video, write the treatment for it, and we’ll shoot it.” So I was like, “All right, f*ck it. I’ll eat a cockroach, I’ll throw up, and then I’ll hang myself . . . It’s, like, no subliminal messages or secret meanings or anything. I just personally think the sh*t would look really cool, so I did it. I just like doing sh*t that I think is cool, and people happen to like it, so I’m pretty, like, fortunate for that. So I’m gonna just continue to be myself and do what I like. Again, people are just so quick to judge sh*t ’cause they don’t understand it. But I understand what I’m doing, and that’s all that should matter.

In the meantime peep the video of Tyler smashing a car with a bat below.

Tupac Shakur Covers XXL

12348945861?profile=original

Nearly 15 years after his untimely death rap legend Tupac Shakur, covers the latest issue of XXL.

The issue will feature interviews with Pac's ex-wife Keisha Morris, his former group the Outlawz, and his biological father, Bill Garland.

[Tupac] cared for people,” Garland told XXL. “That was his main thing. He really cared for people. I think that’s why he would get so upset when people tried to question his commitment, his love for Black women or Black men. The East Coast/West Coast, you know, that’s a fabrication. I don’t have to begin to tell you that. So when that was questioned, it bothered him. Because he would give his heart or soul. He was a giving person. He would give anything to people. He would go in a store. [If there was a] Black man who couldn’t afford a $1,500 pair of boots, he would buy ’em for him. Think that Black man would ever forget Tupac? That’s just the way he is. But I don’t think that he did it for that. He did it because he had it, and he didn’t. That’s the way he is.”

XXL's September 2011 issue hits newsstands August 16.

Video After The Jump

Republican Congressman Doug Lamborn is catching flack for likening President Obama to a "tar baby" during a radio interview Friday, while discussing his budget policies.

"Even if some people say, well, the Republicans should have done this or they should have done that, they will hold the president responsible," Lamborn said during the interview. "Now, I don't want to even have to be associated with him. It's like touching a tar baby and you get, you get it, you know… you are stuck and you are part of the problem now, and you can't get away,"

Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines the term as "something from which it is nearly impossible to extricate oneself." But within the African American community, it is widely viewed as offensive racist slang used by whites to describe people of color.

Lamborn has since issued an apology.

"When I said 'tar baby' I was talking about the economic quagmire that our country is finding ourselves in because of poor economic policy from the White House, but I could have used a better term," Lamborn told News13.

Despite the apology, many are still upset that the term was used at all.

Rosemary Harris Lytle, president of the Colorado Springs chapter of the NAACP, told the Colorado Springs Gazette that Lamborn should have known better.

"The world already views (El Paso County) as ultra conservative, ultra right wing, Tea-Party-loving, gay bashing, an epicenter of hate. With two vitriolic words, our own Congressman again sealed our fate," she said.

Diane Allen-Philips, president of the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region, was equally critical of the Congressman.

"I don’t think you can just toss that phrase out and not have it associated with the past," said Allen-Philips. "If Barack Obama was not African American, would he have used the same terminology?"

This isn't the first time a Republican has had to apologize for using the term.

In 2007, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney used it to describe a construction site in Boston.

And in 2008, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) also used the term while discussing divorces.

Do you buy Lamborn's excuse that he didn't mean it in a derogatory way?
