NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Brandy Parker-McFadden sits in her Vanderbilt hospital bed, unable to stand.
“Our youngest is like – are you ever going to walk again? We just reassure him this is extremely rare.”
The mother of three received her second Pfizer COVID shot on April 16. Hours later, an unusual sensation started in her legs.
“Then it turned into a horrible neck pain, and it just kept getting worse and worse,” recounted Brandy.
Her husband James knew something was terribly wrong. “She was screaming in pain. She is one that is pretty stoic. That’s what created the sense of urgency.”
James rushed Brandy to the emergency room at Vanderbilt, and then the unimaginable happened.
“I woke up. I can’t move my arms. I can’t move my legs. So, he’s freaking out. The doctors are panicking,” Brandy recalled.
“I’m holding her hand, and her hand is limp throughout the whole thing while she’s screaming in pain,” remembers James, “And all the test results are coming back negative.”
Ten days later, Brandy is able to move her arms again and wiggle her toes. She will now undergo intensive physical therapy, hoping to walk again.
“I’m going to fight. I’m a fighter,” Brandy said with a determined look.
Brandy wants to be very clear; she isn’t saying don’t get your vaccine. She wants people to be aware of the signs and speak up if they don’t feel well.
“If you’re hesitant, I tell people to call your doctors because it is extremely rare.”
News 2 reached out to Pfizer. The company released the following statement:
“We take adverse events that are potentially associated with our COVID-19 vaccine, BNT162b2, very seriously. We closely monitor all such events and collect relevant information to share with global regulatory authorities. At this time, our ongoing review has not identified any safety signals with paralysis and the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.
To date, more than 200* million people around the world have been vaccinated with our vaccine. It is important to note that serious adverse events that are unrelated to the vaccine are unfortunately likely to occur at a similar rate as they would in the general population.”

Jay-Z's 6-year flip of Tidal's streaming service is complete -- he just closed the deal to sell the majority of the company to Square for $350 million ... a pretty good return on his initial investment.
Square, the financial services company owned by Jay's pal, Jack Dorsey, is now firmly in the music streaming biz. Jack had announced back in March that he planned to take Tidal off Jay's hands, but sources familiar tell TMZ they just closed the deal Friday morning.
Remember, Jay-Z launched Tidal back in 2015 for $56 million in a partnership with several artists, including Beyonce, Rihanna, Kanye West, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin and others.
For its $350 mil ... Square gets 80% ownership of Tidal, along with licensing deals with the major record labels and all the artists/owners will remain with the company too.
We're told Jay and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, who helped broker the deal, will stay on board to help run Tidal.
Over the last year we've seen Jay and Jack hanging out several times -- sometimes sipping wine together in the Hamptons -- and now we know what they're discussing ... major tycoon stuff.
Jay's made serious bank of his Tidal investment. He'd previously sold 33% of it to Sprint back in 2017 for an undisclosed amount.
As Jay-Z famously said almost 20 years ago, he's not a businessman ... he's a business, man!!!
Two teenagers died and an 18-year-old is charged with murder after young people argued on social media, a fight broke out and the young man opened fire Sunday in Springfield, Virginia, police say.
Neither the names nor the ages of the two teens who died were released by police, per state law. They were both under 18, police say.
Zachary Burkard was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony after the killings in the 8000 block of Winding Way Court, in a Northern Virginia subdivision.
Fairfax County police said that according to the initial investigation, “there was a previous argument through social media between the involved parties. As a result, four teenagers went to the home to talk to someone who lived there.”
A fight broke out at the house. Burkard “emerged from the home” and shot the two teens at about 3:20 p.m.
One victim was found in the garage with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Medics declared the victim dead at the scene.
The second victim was found in front of the house with a gunshot wound to the upper body. That victim was taken to a hospital and later died.
Burkard stayed at the house and was taken into custody. A gun was found.
No information was released on why the suspect and victims may have argued. The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to interview witnesses.

A dream remains just a dream if you don’t work towards it and his dream almost felt like a dormant passion until he moved from his hometown. Young Miller has always had a passion for clothing design and seeing as music runs in his family, he naturally leaned towards music.
Growing up around great musicians in his family like Master P, Young Miller’s journey in the music industry began over a decade ago. He has taken his time to learn from Master P and his cousins before venturing out as a solo artist.
Young Miller has often said he owes his music career to his uncle who has nurtured his skills and given him the much-needed nudge into music. Watching his family members before him succeed in the business, Young Miller has watched their successes and set backs and learned from each to launch a successful music career. When he started, he was a member of the Rich Boyz which shaped him into the talent he is today. He has since found his home in hip-hop and released singles that have debuted on charts and he is ready to top charts with his upcoming projects.
According to Young Miller, his uncle’s influence is largely present in his music. His personal style is also represented which gives his music a unique edge. Looking into his future in the industry, he is working towards releasing an album and gearing up to the release of his single that is a sure banger.
Music has taken centerstage in Young Miller’s life, however, his love for clothing design is apparent in his personal style and choice of accessories. He has all the makings of a breakout star and his music carries a global appeal with it.
Asked about his life before music, Young Miller is quick to shout out his home New Orleans but is glad to have left as there wasn’t much of a future for him there. His life changed as soon as he moved and got closer to his uncle’s business.
He credits his discipline and drive to his uncle as his mentor. Where next for Young Miller? Not to give away too much but he promises exciting things to come for his fans. He is dropping the ‘watch this space’ for skeptics and critics and working even harder to grow his career and reward his fans. Read more…

Her father, rapper 40 Cal, made the announcement via his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Thursday, April 29.
"My daughter Saniyya is missing out of Buffalo University," 40 captioned an IG photo of his daughter. "Anyone with any helpful info hit my dm, any other matters respectfully don’t contact me!, $10,000 for any info that connect."
"She was last seen between 10:30 and 11 p.m. leaving her campus dorm," Saniyya's mother, Latisha Dennis told The Buffalo News.
Latisha Dennis said Saniyya got a text from her daughter at about 12:20 a.m. Sunday saying she was sorry she had missed a phone call from her mother and that she would try again the next day.
"She hasn't been seen or heard from since," the worried mother said Thursday.
"I just want to get it out there that we're looking for her," Latisha Dennis said. Her family is offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps them find her, the mother said.
Police said there's "no evidence of foul play at this time." However, she may need medical attention, they said. Her family said they're not aware of any medical issue she may have had.
Dennis was described as a Black woman with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She is from the Bronx. Police said she may still be in the Western New York area or may have traveled to Yonkers.
