South Bronx, New York native Yung JB links up with Take Money KO for a new banger titled "Over Stand." This is off of JB's forthcoming "Drug Dealers Pt. 2" project.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD made a major gang takedown in Brooklyn, and they believe the group committed several murders and ran an interstate drug operation.
Ten people have been charged in a 48-count conspiracy indictment that includes two murders, seven shootings and drug possession, CBS2’s Charlie Cooper reports.
The men are allegedly part of the Brick Squad Gang, a subset of the larger Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation, affiliated with the Bloods. They’re believed to be a violent and well-organized crew that’s operated throughout Brooklyn but also expanded its narcotics trafficking in parts of Binghamton, New York, and Bangor, Maine.
“They were committed, as was said, to the shootings and homicides and other acts of violence here in Brooklyn, specifically in Vinegar Hill, Bed-Stuyvesant and Brownsville neighborhoods,” NYPD Inspector Richard Green said.
“They’re about violence. They are about making money and selling dangerous drugs in our communities and elsewhere. No more after this case with this arrest,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez played phone calls and videos of some of the suspects plotting to commit major crimes at a press conference Friday.
It’s alleged that since 2017, the gang has engaged in violent crimes with the leadership of 49-year-old Howard Smith, who they refer to as “The Godfather.” He and other incarcerated members are said to be in communication with guys on the outside to keep up to date with the gang’s activities.
Police believe the money being made through drug trafficking was distributed among high-ranking members in prison. Six of the defendants were arraigned Thursday and either remained without bail or held on $500,000 bail. The remaining four are set to be arraigned Friday and Monday. The defendants face up to 25 years to life in prison.
Among those charged is Stephan Khadu. Police sources tell CBS2 Khadu has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon for the 2017 shooting of a teenager and the 2018 shooting of a 37-year-old in Brooklyn.
Authorities believe the 22-year-old murder suspect shot 17-year-old John Fernandez back on Dec. 7, 2017 in front of a home on Bainbridge Street. The teen was found by first responders with a gunshot wound to his neck and died at the scene.
Investigators add that Khadu is also allegedly responsible for the death of Claudell Gary, who was found fatally shot in the neck and leg in front of a Hart Street residence back on April 18, 2018.
The NYPD also arrested two other suspects for Gary’s 2018 murder – 21-year-old Christopher Garcia and 20-year-old Quazeer Farmer.
Both men have also been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police did not reveal how they were able to track down the alleged killers after their years-long investigations.
Authorities dealt a staggering blow to the murderous MS-13 gang — busting 96 members and associates in the largest takedown of the notorious criminal group in New York state history, prosecutors announced Friday.
The busts — the result of a nearly two-year federal wiretapping investigation — essentially wiped out MS-13 on Long Island, according to law enforcement sources.
Many of the arrests were made Thursday and Friday morning, the sources said.
Those arrested include 45 MS-13 members and 19 associates charged with alleged murder conspiracies, drug trafficking, weapons possession and sales, gang violence, and other offenses in a special grand jury indictment, prosecutors said.
The DA’s office, along with federal, state and local officials who conducted the sweeping investigation, are set to announce the charges at an afternoon press conference.
Among other slayings and assaults, the ruthless gang has been blamed for the brutal killings of Brentwood High School students Nisa Mickens, 15, and Kayla Cuevas, 16, in September 2016. The victims were hacked and beaten to death with machetes and baseball bats.
President Donald Trump has often cited the dangers of the MS-13 “infestation” to push for tougher immigration laws.

(CNN) When Jeanne Souron-Mathers died in November, police in Tooele, Utah, were startled to find the body of her husband Paul in a chest freezer at the couple's home.
That wasn't all. Police also discovered a notarized letter from Paul stating that his wife was not responsible for his death, according to a search warrant unsealed this week.
Investigators now believe that Paul Mathers died a decade ago and are investigating the possibility that monthly payments to him from Veterans Affairs and Social Security kept coming in after his death.
Sgt. Jeremy Hansen of the Tooele Police Department said investigators have filed subpoenas and are still awaiting financial records. The VA payments would total at least $177,000, Hansen said.
Paul Mathers is believed to have died between February 4, 2009 and March 8, 2009, Hansen said. He had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was being treated at a local Veterans Affairs medical center, Hansen said, and was last seen there on February 4, 2009.
But before he died, Paul Mathers wrote a letter stating his wife was not responsible for his death, and that letter was notarized in December 2008, the search warrant said.
"Detectives tracked down the notary and she said she didn't read it, she just stamped it," Hansen said.
Sgt. Hansen declined to disclose Paul Mathers' illness. Jeanne Souron-Mathers, 75, died in November from what appears to be natural causes, Hansen added.
CHICAGO - Two men charged in the 2015 slaying of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee received their sentences Wednesday morning.
Convicted gunman Dwirght Boone-Doty was sentenced to 90 in prison.
Corey Morgan, who was charged with first-degree murder in October, was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
Prosecutors argued that the Nov. 2, 2015, "execution" of Tyshawn Lee was carried out as revenge on a rival gang member, that Morgan and two others believed the fourth grader's father was responsible for a shooting weeks earlier that left Morgan's brother dead and his mother wounded.
Boone-Doty befriended Tyshawn to gain his trust after the boy arrived at the park, prosecutors said. He picked up the basketball that boy had brought to the park, lured him into a nearby alley and shot him with a .40-caliber handgun multiple times at close range while Morgan watched from an SUV, they said.
A third man charged in the attack, Kevin Edwards, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder before going on trial. Edwards, who prosecutors described as the getaway driver, received a 25-year prison sentence in exchange for his plea.

NBA YoungBoy scored one sweet plea deal in his assault and kidnapping case ... the most serious charges have been dropped.
The rapper pled guilty to misdemeanor simple battery family violence. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault ... this according to the Ware County District Attorney's Office in Georgia.
YB will avoid jail time. He's been sentenced to 12 months probation, fined $1,500, must attend anger management classes and have no violent contact with the victim ... his GF.
As we reported ... the rapper body slammed his GF back in February 2018 before dragging her back inside his room. Surveillance footage captured the violent moment but his GF insisted they were just engaged in horseplay. The grand jury handed down a 2-count indictment for aggravated assault and kidnapping.
As we reported ... YoungBoy's GF didn't want to press charges. And, get this ... the Ware County D.A., George Barnhill, tells TMZ she refused to come to court and flat-out told the D.A.'s Office she would NOT testify if she was brought into court against her will. This clearly explains the plea deal.
Barnhill said, "We resolved the case as best we could without her cooperation."
