Adrien Broner was sitting in a jail cell early Sunday morning -- 'cause the guy got picked up by cops in one state ... for being wanted in another.

The boxer was arrested & booked around 1 AM, getting hauled into the Kenton County Jail in Kentucky ... where he posed for this mug shot. The charges he got rung up on upon entry ... fugitive from another state, from which a warrant was required.

No word on the circumstances of how cops stumbled upon Broner to begin with, but they did.

It's unclear exactly what case this warrant stems from -- but it does originate in Cuyahoga County (where Cleveland is) & could well be in relation to a lawsuit he lost in that jurisdiction about a year ago, when a woman claimed he'd assaulted her in a nightclub.

That case has been ongoing for quite some time & Broner was even tossed into jail late last year after the judge found him to be in contempt for failing to pay an $800k judgment & comply with the rest of his requirements. At the time, he claimed he was broke.

He's had other run-ins with the law since then -- in Ohio as well, no less -- but the assault suit appears to be his only one in Cleveland. Per online court records, Broner has failed to enter a treatment program ... spurring the warrant.

Doesn't look like Broner is going to be able to bond out either ... there's no amount set for him, which means he'll probably be extradited to the authorities in the neighboring state.

UFC lightweight fighter Luis Pena has been arrested for the second time in five months.

Pena was taken into custody on Saturday in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on charges of battery causing bodily harm & battery domestic violence. He is being held on $1,000 bond at the Broward County Detention Center.

Deerfield Beach deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at about 12:34 a.m. Saturday.

"On scene, deputies made contact with multiple subjects & Luis Antonio Pena was later detained & taken into custody."

Pena, 28, was arrested in June on charges of robbery by sudden snatching, battery & criminal mischief after a fight with his girlfriend.

The robbery by sudden snatching charge has been dropped, but Pena is still facing charges of battery & criminal mischief in Florida's Palm Beach County. Both of those charges are misdemeanors & Pena has a court date scheduled for Oct. 28. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

On Aug. 30, Pena's girlfriend filed an affidavit in the June case requesting the charges be dismissed & that she does not desire the case be prosecuted any further.

Deontay Wilder is once again heading back to the drawing board. The former heavyweight champion lost for a second time to Tyson Fury on Saturday night in Las Vegas when the "Gypsy King" stopped him via 11th-round knockout.

Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) won the opportunity to challenge Fury for a third when an arbitrator granted him his rematch following the February 2020 knockout loss. After nearly 20 months of training, bulking up and solely focusing on Fury, Wilder nearly stopped him in the fourth round with a pair of knockdowns. But Fury managed to get back to his feet and continued to outbox him from the outside before scoring another knockdown in Round 10 and the seminal blow in Round 11.

Wilder did not speak with the media following the loss, but released a brief statement in the post-fight press release.

"I did my best, but it wasn't good enough," Wilder said. "I'm not sure what happened. I know that in training he did certain things, and I also knew that he didn't come in at 277 to be a ballet dancer. He came to lean on me, try to rough me up, and he succeeded."

Wilder, 35, looked much better than his previous attempts against Fury, but it still wasn't enough. New trainer Malik Scott was heard telling him in between rounds at one point that he will wake up proud of the effort he put forth.

The family of a late friend of Dave Chappelle is defending the comedian following controversial comments he made about the trans community in his most recent Netflix special, The Closer.

Daphne Dorman, a trans woman & a fellow comedian who lived in the San Francisco area, struck up a friendship with the Chappelle Show alum prior to her death by suicide in 2019. Dorman was referenced in Chappelle’s 2019 Netflix special for having defended him following previous comments he made about the trans community.

Dorman’s sisters shared their support for Chappelle to The Daily Beast. Over text, Dorman’s sister Becky wrote to the outlet, “Daphne was in awe of Dave’s graciousness. She did not find his jokes rude, crude, off-coloring, off-putting, anything. She thought his jokes were funny. Daphne understood humor & comedy—she was not offended. Why would her family be offended?”

Dorman’s younger sister Brandy agreed with the statement and called Chappelle an "LGBTQ ally."

Following the release of his Netflix special earlier this week, Chappelle received criticism from the trans community — as well as social media at large — after he made jokes about the so-called “cancellation” of Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who was labeled a “TERF” (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) following multiple comments she made about gender on Twitter.

“They canceled JK Rowling – my God,” he said on stage. “Effectually she said gender was fact, the trans community got mad as shit, they started calling her a Terf...I’m Team TERF.”

He went on to say that “gender is a fact” & that “every human being in this room, every human being on Earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on Earth.”

Multiple activist groups, including GLAAD, criticized Chappelle’s comments about the trans community, with many pointing out that he has made similar jokes at their expense over his decades-long career. Dear White People showrunner Jaclyn Moore, who is trans, called Chappelle out on social media for perpetuating ideas that may lead to more violence against trans people, as well as slammed Netflix for platforming the comedian.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Tyson Fury got up from two fourth-round knockdowns and stopped Deontay Wilder in the 11th round Saturday night, retaining his WBC title in a thrilling conclusion to a superlative heavyweight trilogy.

Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) finished Wilder for the second straight time in their trilogy, but only after a wild back-and-forth bout featuring five combined knockdowns.

Wilder was knocked down in the third round and appeared to be on his way out, but he improbably rallied to knock down Fury twice in the final minutes of the fourth round.

Wilder (42-2-1) absorbed enormous punishment and appeared to be physically drained for much of the bout, but the veteran champion showed his toughness while still throwing power shots on weary legs.

Fury knocked down Wilder again with a concussive right hand midway through the 10th, but Wilder stunned Fury in the final seconds.

Fury finally finished it in the 11th, sending Wilder face-first to the canvas with a chopping right hand fired from high in the air. Fury climbed onto the ropes in weary celebration before a frenzied crowd of 15,820 at T-Mobile Arena on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.

The fight likely concluded one of the most memorable heavyweight rivalries in recent boxing history. A trilogy is a rarity in the fractured modern sport, but Fury and Wilder brought out the best in each other through a series spanning nearly three calendar years.

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. (WSB-TV) — Authorities in Troup County are releasing more details in the murder of a pregnant woman and her unborn child. The suspect in the murder, Alonzo Dargan Jr., was arrested Thursday in North Carolina.

The Troup County sheriff’s office held a news conference Friday and revealed that Dargan was the unborn child’s father.

First responders found Akeila Ware, 29, dead inside her wrecked car Tuesday afternoon. She was shot multiple times.

Investigators used evidence at the scene to connect Dargan, who is stationed at Fort Bragg Army Base in North Carolina, to the murder. They said evidence placed him in Troup County at the time of the murder.

Authorities said Ware, a mother of 5, and Dargan, who is married to another woman and had children with her, were in a relationship together.

The sheriff’s office said Dargan was following Ware in a car on Highway 18 and then opened fire on her.

Authorities said Dargan grew up in Troup County and went to school with Ware.

Dargan was taken into custody at Fort Bragg and is currently in the Cumberland County jail. He will be extradited back to Troup County at some point.

Dargan is facing murder, feticide and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

A report that Jon Gruden used a racist comment about NFL Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith in an email 10 years ago drew a strong & quick rebuke Friday from the NFL.

A Wall Street Journal story noted that Gruden, then working for ESPN and now coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, referred in a racist way to Smith’s facial features.

“The email from Jon Gruden denigrating DeMaurice Smith is appalling, abhorrent and wholly contrary to the NFL’s values,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. “We condemn the statement & regret any harm that its publication may inflict on Mr. Smith or anyone else.”

The league is looking into the matter & a person familiar with that probe told said that disciplinary action is possible for Gruden.

Gruden’s comment in an email to then-Washington Football Team President Bruce Allen came during the 2011 lockout of the players by the NFL. Gruden told the newspaper he was angry about the lockout during labor negotiations & he didn’t trust the direction the union was taking. He also apologized for the remark.

“Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires,” Gruden wrote in the email.

Raiders owner Mark Davis said in a statement Gruden’s email does not reflect the team’s standards.

“The content of an email regarding DeMaurice Smith from Jon Gruden when he worked for ESPN 10 years ago is disturbing & not what the Raiders stand for,” Davis said. “We were first made aware of the email late yesterday by a reporter & are reviewing it along with other materials provided to us today by the NFL. We are addressing the matter with Coach Gruden & will have no further comment at this time.”

Gruden defended his resume on racial equality & inclusion while admitting his email went “too far.”

It appears crime plays.

R. Kelly may be trapped in prison, but "Trapped in the Closet" & a slew of his other hit singles are surging in popularity following his conviction on sex trafficking charges.

The disgraced singer’s album sales have jumped a whopping 517% since a New York jury handed down their guilty verdict on Sept. 27, according to Rolling Stone.

Kelly, 54, was found guilty of sexual exploitation, bribery, racketeering and sex trafficking involving five victims. He is now facing the prospect of life behind bars.

Many may have guessed that the crimes would cause a cancellation of Kelly’s classic tracks, but the opposite has occurred.

In addition to the spike in album sales, streams of the R&B crooner’s tunes are also up.

From Sept. 27 and Oct. 3 — the week following Kelly’s conviction — his "on-demand audio streams were up 22%," while his "video streams were up 23% compared to the previous seven days."

And while the verdict prompted a pronounced spike in streams, his music has been well-played throughout the entirety of 2021.

In fact, his singles have been more streamed this year than they were in 2017, despite witnesses at his high-profile trial revealing horrific acts he carried out against them.

In 2017, Kelly was averaging around 5.4 million on-demand audio streams per week, and this year he’s averaged around 6.4 million.

Kelly’s songs are still available on most streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music. However, earlier this week, Google shut down two official R. Kelly YouTube accounts, claiming they "violated creator responsibility guidelines."

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman by a Southern California school safety officer last month is being investigated as a possible homicide, police said Thursday.

Manuela “Mona” Rodriguez, who had been declared brain dead after the Sept. 27 shooting, died Tuesday after she was removed from life support, her family said.

Because of her death, “detectives are now investigating this matter as a homicide,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

The officer who shot her has been fired by the Long Beach Unified School District, it was announced Wednesday.

Eddie F. Gonzalez was dismissed by unanimous vote of the district board because he violated district policy, Superintendent Jill Baker said. Gonzalez has not publicly commented, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether he has a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.

Rodriguez, the mother of a 5-month-old son, was shot in the back of the head in a parking lot near Millikan High School in Long Beach. She was sitting in the passenger seat of a car that was driving away after Rodriguez had gotten into a fight with a 15-year-old girl, police have said.

Video posted online appeared to show the safety officer firing at least two shots as the car moved off next to him. At least one bullet pierced a window of the car.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota woman was convicted of manslaughter Friday in the death of her newborn son whose body was discovered in a ditch 40 years ago.

Theresa Bentaas, 60, of Sioux Falls, entered an Alford plea to first-degree manslaughter in an agreement with prosecutors in which they dropped 2 murder charges. The Alford plea allows Bentaas to maintain her innocence while also authorizing the court to enter a guilty plea. Bentaas previously had pleaded not guilty to the 3 charges.

The newborn known as “Baby Andrew” was found wrapped in a blanket in a cornfield ditch in Sioux Falls in 1981. An autopsy determined he died of exposure.

Police arrested Bentaas in March 2019 after investigators reworked the case & determined through advanced DNA testing that she was the mother.

Mike Webb, a Sioux Falls police detective who worked on the cold case, discovered all testable DNA evidence had been destroyed in 1995, according to court documents.

The infant’s body was exhumed in September 2009 after Webb learned that DNA could be extracted from bones & tissue. North Texas University Science Center conducted lab tests on the DNA that was extracted from the infant’s remains, but no matches were found.

In 2019, police submitted the DNA to a Virginia-based genetics genealogy company, which found 2 potential matches.

Using those genetic links, police were able to use a family tree that led to Theresa Bentaas. Investigators found DNA in trash they seized at Bentaas’ house that could not exclude her as the biological mother, according to a court documents.

Bentaas is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 2 at the Minnehaha County Courthouse.

Jody Lo - Exotic

Another one for North Carolina

After more than 3 months of silence, Jody Lo returns to the scene with a new single; Exotic. After the release of "Tru Story" this past summer, the North Carolina lyricist has been scarce in his presence online. In a spontaneous flash, a new release drops and we're presented the fast paced catchy melody over a 808 laced trap instrumental. With the right momentum, this track could potentially give the traction needed to bring well deserved recognition to Jody Lo.

Donald Trump ramped up his anti-immigration rhetoric on TV Thursday night ... telling Sean Hannity the thousands of Haitian migrants believed to be heading to America's border likely have AIDS.

The ex-President did his best DaBaby impression by spewing out ignorant claims about the disease, suggesting on "Hannity" that because Haiti has a "tremendous AIDS problem" ... accepting people from there is "like a death wish for our country."

What Trump's comments ignore, however, is that while there may be a large number of people living with HIV/AIDs in Haiti ... it's impossible to know if those trying to flee the country are afflicted.

Likewise, even if migrants with AIDS are admitted to the U.S. ... it does not equate to a "death wish."

Later in his chat with Hannity, Trump also alleged other countries are "emptying out their prisons into the United States."

President Biden's not exactly hitting high marks with the public on his handling of immigration -- especially after last month's controversy with how border agents treated Haitian migrants -- so perhaps this is Trump's early campaign strategy ... facts be damned.

"If this is what being canceled is like, I love it."

That's how Dave Chappelle greeted the audience Thursday night at the star-studded screening of his new documentary at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl ... after receiving a standing ovation despite the swirling controversy over his new Netflix special, "The Closer."

Dave also railed on Twitter, the media and "all these stupid-ass networks" to the celeb-packed crowd that included Brad Pitt, Tiffany Haddish, Donnell Rawlings and more ... saying, "I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to you. This is real life."

Along with Chappelle dismissing cancel culture in wake of being called out for transphobic jokes and offending the LGBTQ+ community in his new stand-up special, Stevie Wonder also took the stage following the premiere of Dave's 'Untitled' doc to chide the idea of being canceled.

Instead, Stevie said society needs to work on canceling hate and fear and focus on loving each other. Interestingly enough, Chappelle also promoted coming together as people and trusting one another again, and spoke of a "kindness conspiracy" to get it going.

Along with Dave addressing his adoring crowd, other guest performers included Jeff Ross, Michael Buffer, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Jon Hamm and others before Chappelle closed things out by saying ... "Thank god I'm canceled because f**k this shit anyway. I bet you I'll be someone better than you think."

Nope, still doesn't seem like Dave is sweating all the heat he's getting lately ... and everyone -- in Hollywood anyway -- seems to love it.
