Everyone has an opinion on the Michael Brown case and whether or not police are abusing their power in African American and Hispanic communities in the U.S.

In a cover story for Billboard, Kendrick Lamar offered his take.

12351324273?profile=original

"I wish somebody would look in our neighborhood knowing that it's already a situation, mentally, where it's fucked up," the Compton, California native said. "What happened to [Michael Brown] should've never happened. Never. But when we don't have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don't start with just a rally, don't start from looting -- it starts from within."

12351324694?profile=original

Those comments didn't sit well with outspoken Harlem, New York rapper Azealia Banks. She took aim at Kendrick in a long Twitter rant.

**UPDATE** January 11

Welp, all hell has broken loose on Twitter. Lupe Fiasco sent out a tweet in support of Kendrick Lamar. Azealia Banks saw it and responded starting a verbal sparring session.

Rather than outright insult Banks, Lupe responded to everything she said with a series of hilarious pictures with captions reminding her that she was once a fan of his and copied his style.

Let's get started, shall we?

On the same day we are having our first event, at Madison Square Garden, we are announcing our first really huge signing."

12351325684?profile=original

The 30-year old fighter has a record of 27-0, 14 KOs. He's recognized as one of boxing's best.

Ward shared a photo of himself and Jay on Instagram that included a caption announcing the signing.

"It's official!! #NextChapter Happy to be a part of the @rocnation family.#RocNationSports #SOG," Ward wrote.

Due to management issues Ward last fought on November 16, 2013. Expect his ring presence to increase dramatically now that he's parted ways with Goossen Promotions.

Video And Pics After The Jump

PARIS (Associated Press) — Two al-Qaida-linked brothers suspected in the Charlie Hebdo massacre came out of their hideaway with guns blazing Friday and were killed in a clash with security forces, French police said. Moments later, another hostage-taker in Paris was killed in a separate clash, along with three of his hostages.

France has been high alert since the country's worst terror attack in decades — the massacre Wednesday in Paris at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that left 12 people dead.

After the two separate hostage-taking incidents began Friday, city officials scrambled to protect residents and tourists from further attacks, shutting down a famed Jewish neighborhood, putting schools under lockdown and urging residents to stay indoors and remain vigilant.

460x.jpg

By Friday afternoon, explosions and gunshots rang out and white smoke rose up outside a printing plant in Dammartin-en-Goele, northeast of Paris, where brothers Cherif Kouachi, 32, and Said Kouachi, 34, had holed up with a hostage.

Security forces had surrounded the building for most of the day. After the explosions, a police SWAT forces were seen on the roof of the building and a police helicopter landed nearby it.

Audrey Taupenas, spokeswoman for the town near the Charles de Gaulle airport, said the brothers died in the clash. Their hostage was freed.

Another gunman who took at least five hostages Friday afternoon at a kosher grocery in Paris also died in a nearly simultaneous raid there, said Gael Fabiano of the UNSA police union.

The gunman, identified as Amedy Coulibaly, had earlier threatened to kill his hostages if French authorities launched an assault on the two brothers, a police official said. The two sets of hostage-takers know each other, said the official, who was not authorized to discuss the rapidly developing situation.

One other police officer said three hostages also died at the grocery. None could say what happened to the woman listed on a police bulletin as his accomplice.

Security forces stormed the Paris grocery near the Porte de Vincennes neighborhood minutes after news of clashes at the printing plant. Moments later, several people were seen being led out of the store. It was not clear exactly how many hostages had been inside or how many were freed.

460x.jpg

Trying to fend off further attacks, the Paris mayor's office shut down all shops along Rosiers Street in the city's famed Marais neighborhood in the heart of the tourist district. Hours before the Jewish Sabbath, the street is usually crowded with shoppers — French Jews and tourists alike. The street is also only a kilometer (a half mile) away from Charlie Hebdo's offices.

The gunman had burst shooting into the kosher store just a few hours before the Jewish Sabbath began, declaring "You know who I am," the official recounted. The attack came before sundown when the store was crowded with shoppers. Several wounded people were able to flee, police said.

460x.jpg

Paris police released photos of Coulibaly, also believed responsible for the roadside killing of a Paris policewoman, and one of a second suspect, a woman named Hayet Boumddiene, who they said was his accomplice.

About 100 students were placed under lockdown in schools nearby and the highway ringing Paris was closed.

Hours before and 40 kilometers (25 miles) away , a convoy of police trucks, helicopters and ambulances streamed toward Dammartin-en-Goele, a small industrial town near Charles de Gaulle airport, to seize the Charlie Hebdo suspects, who had hijacked a car in a nearby town after more than two days on the run.

"They said they want to die as martyrs," Yves Albarello, a local lawmaker inside the command post, told French television station i-Tele.

With the brothers trapped, Charles de Gaulle closed two runways to arrivals to avoid interfering in the standoff or endangering planes.

Both brothers had ties to terrorist networks. Cherif Kouachi was convicted of terrorism charges in 2008 for ties to a network sending jihadis to fight U.S. forces in Iraq.

A Yemeni security official said his brother, Said, is suspected of having fought for al-Qaida in Yemen. Another senior security official said Said was in Yemen until 2012. Both officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of an ongoing investigation into Kouachi's stay in Yemen.

460x.jpg

Both brothers were also on the U.S. no-fly list, a senior U.S. counterterrorism official said.

Nine people, members of the brothers' entourage, have been detained for questioning in several regions.

The satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo had long drawn threats for its depictions of Islam, although it also satirized other religions and political figures. The weekly paper had caricatured the Prophet Muhammad, and a sketch of Islamic State's leader was the last tweet sent out by the irreverent newspaper, minutes before the attack.

12351324059?profile=original

Eight journalists, two police officers, a maintenance worker and a visitor were killed in the newspaper attack, including the paper's editor. Charlie Hebdo plans a special edition next week, produced in the offices of another paper.

Authorities around Europe have warned of the threat posed by the return of Western jihadis trained in warfare. France counts at least 1,200 citizens in the war zone in Syria — headed there, returned or dead. Both the Islamic State group and al-Qaida have threatened France, home to Western Europe's largest Muslim population.

Twitter and Instagram users have no chill button. Lil Boosie found that out the hard way when he posted a Christmas photo of himself and his four-year old son.

Social media critics quickly deemed the pic was photoshopped and bombarded the Louisiana rapper with jokes.

12351325891?profile=original

Boosie was so angry about the reaction his people reached out to TMZ to explain that the photo was professionally done, which accounts for why the lighting looks better than normal. He insists that he was at his New Orleans home during the holidays with seven of his kids.

Video After The Jump

The family of 12-year old Cleveland preteen Tamir Rice have been devastated since his November 22nd shooting death. On that day a 911 call was placed informing authorities that Rice kept pulling a gun out of his pants "scaring the shit out of people."

The caller also said that "it's probably fake." Police arrived at Cudell Recreation Center and shot Tamir within seconds. Authorities later admitted the gun was not real. .

New extended footage showing the aftermath of the shooting was released on Wednesday January 7, 2015. It shows Tamir's 14-year old sister walking up to the scene before being shoved to the ground by Officer Frank Garmback, 46.

12351323893?profile=original

Garmback then handcuffs the girl and places her in the back of his patrol car, where she remains for the duration of the 30-minute video.

12351324874?profile=original

Neither Garmback or his partner Timothy Loehmann, 26, offer any medical aid to Tamir, who is still alive while on the ground. Four minutes pass before an FBI agent approaches and gives Tamir CPR. An ambulance later arrives and transports Tamir to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died 12 hours later.

The family released a statement on the new footage through Florida-based law firm Parks & Crump.

"The extended version of the Tamir Rice shooting video released this morning by the Cleveland police Department fully supports the initial account provided by the Rice family.

This video shows in crystal-clear HD that the responding officers acted inappropriately and recklessly, both in how they handled the shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice and the events that immediately followed.

The family is outraged that rather than comfort a sister coming to the aid of her dying brother, the officers instead manhandled and tackled her, cuffed her and thoughtlessly tossed her in the back of a patrol car.

It is painfully obvious that these Cleveland Police Department officers lacked even the most basic elements of training."

Universal Music Group is taking a strong legal stance against companies that have been sending music to inmates in correctional facilities across the country.

Centric Group and their subsidiary Keefe Group specialize in sending packages to prisoners. Centric's home page describes their services:

12351325675?profile=original

Today we employ more than 3,000 people, have offices nationwide and our annual sales exceed $900 million. Our companies include Keefe Group, the nation’s leading supplier of food, personal care products, electronics and clothing to the correctional commissary market.

UMG alleges that music being sent by Centric includes copyrighted work of artists, including James Brown, Eminem, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

12351325696?profile=original

UMG has not been financially compensated for the music leading them to file a lawsuit.

"Defendants boast on their website that their business 'was developed to eliminate contraband,' yet the infringing copies of Plaintiffs' sound recordings and musical compositions, in which Defendants unlawfully transact and from which they unjustly profit, are contraband personified," states a lawsuit filed by UMG. "Mixtapes are a form of recorded music in which DJs combine (or 'mix') tracks, often recorded by different artists, onto a single CD, sometimes creating overlaps and fades between songs, and/or reflecting a common theme or mood. Such so-called 'mixtapes,' unless authorized by the copyright owner or owner of corresponding state law rights, are nothing more than collections of infringing, piratical compilations of copyrighted or otherwise legally protected sound recordings and copyrighted musical composition."

12351327074?profile=original

Universal is demanding maximum statutory damages in the amount of $150,000 to each copyrighted work infringed, according to Billboard. The plaintiff also is asserting state unfair competition claims and seeking the imposition of a constructive trust, restitution of unlawful proceeds, punitive damages and more.
